Update to 10.A1.434 failed

Hi all I recently tried updating the FW on my xz but when it restarted, it said that it failed to install. I tried to install it twice but failed both times.
The bootloader has not been unlocked. And the phone has been rooted.
Can I update using the pc companion?

Just download an FTF, and flash using flashtool

Sorry, I'm new to all this android flashing since this is my first Android device (came from ios)
If I download a 434 FTF and flash it, will I lose all my apps and app data?
And can I flash in recovery, or can FTF files only be flashed using flashtool?

You can't flash FTF files through recovery. Using the flash tool you can keep data and settings or you can wipe them if you wish.

I have seen this update on the SOny website but my phone (C6603) will not recognise the update, I have tried PC companion and the web route and no luck. Can anyone advise or help to establish why I have not received the update OTA also?

Probably region specific. I saw a post about it last week regarding 434 being pushed to some devices. But I only got it today. Maybe just wait a few more days!

[Q] Flashtool doesn't recognize my Z

I know this sound like newbie and I start thinking I'm newbie right now.
Yesterday I have my Xperia Z (C6602) Region TH. flashed to DoCoMo and it was working perfectly except a little thing. It has a lot of bloatware so I managed to get root and uninstall a lot of them. Hour later OTA arrive so I install it and my phone stop the networking. 3G and Wi-Fi working really strange (I supposed to know this is Baseband problem not because I uninstall DoCoMo bloatware carelessly)
So I use Flashtool to flash DoCoMo (101.D.0.333) again and realized later that it was not my careless uninstall. It was OTA that kill my phone feature so I tried flash my region Firmware (10.1.A.1.434) to get the baseband back and flash DoCoMo fw without baseband again later.
And my problem starting from here. The phone not recognized on Flashtool (it say "Cannot identify your device") and it ask me to input what my model is (So I choose C660x) and it make my phone ready to flash once I put it to flashmode. But no, once I put it to flashmode flashtool itself couldn't recognize my phone is in the state ready to flashing so it keep saying my phone need to put in to flashmode by press Vol.down while plug the USB.
I have no idea how to fix this. I already tried uninstall-reinstall the USB driver. Try SO-02E driver (which is the same as Xperia Z) but it still not working.
And each time my phone reboot it keep asking me to choose the language and tell me to put the DoCoMo sim. Does this mean I need to put the sim first to make the phone pass the state on Unboxing?
All I need right now is to flash my region FW back first. (Or maybe find some way to make radio.zip from FTF). Should I root and put a recovery into my LOCKED bootloader and find some way to install radio?

First ask the Mod to move the thread to Q&A.

Oh just saw that I really put it in a wrong section. And yes, I'm using Beta6. It was working fine until I flash it again today (was working after OTA, but no, not working for now)

i Have already on UK unbranded 10.3.1.A.0.244, when i connect to my bridge mac. its popup with the same 10.3.1.A.0.244 build number as a update . any idea?i am just updating ???

Changes the pre-installed apps package, takes like 10 minutes to do it, so it's worth it. If you have root then don't update, up to you, you can always re-root through the guides on here.

File Commander and G+ Photos is all mine updated to but I'm on an o2 software variant, which is essentially UK unbranded with o2 apps.

In the process of updating this via pc companion but it's been stuck on number 3 (updating) for about 5mins now with the download bar nowhere to have even started, is that normal?
EDIT: all good now sorry! Took a while for it to appear halfway on the download bar now, phew.. Took about 10 mins for it to show!

It's completely normal, it tends to take a while, leave it running and it should be fine!

I have updated my xperia z via OTA to .244 and when i connect to the PC companion it shows a new update , when i tried updating that , the phone updates successfully but stucks on repair icon and never boots up any solutions ?

I waited about an hour and it wont work

Press volume up+ power for 10 seconds till you feel 3 vibration to turn the phone off and try again.

I tried that it wont work and then i restored it using SUS... now its back to normal but still giving option to update when i connect to pc

I'm on 10.3.1.A.0.244 and got a firmware update msg from PC Companion. Wasn't that the latest one?
I'm updating right now, what could it be??? It said I won't loose my peronal data, so I guess it's a small one.
PS: My Xperia Z is C6602 HSPA

During first boot it said "please wait, android is updating?"

May be some system apps got updated or you got something alien just kidding

Usually what happens is, you probably deleted some of the apps that came pre-installed but are not necessary components. When you run an update check, they will notice that some of those pre-installed apps are missing, and will prompt you to do an update. Post-update, you'll find some of those apps installed on your system again. The update you saw was probably anywhere between 5mb - 80mb.

customization update if you've noticed it's only update the customization number and most probably fixed the bugs

I had something similar on an o2 branded handset recently, was to add in the 4G toggle since the UK networks have started using 4G now.

I am glad the poster started this thread as I also had an update soon after flashing generic firmware over the O2 branded one that came with my phone, and wondered how come.
On the info offered in this thread I went ahead and installed it.
I can confirm this update added the 4g option in mobile networks.
Indeed a minor update in which data and root remain intact (no need to back-up/re-root ).

i bought xperia z1 on ebay it was a demo phone and retail demo app video doesnt stop running, i factory reset and updates stil the same , can someone help me im stuck with it the seller doesnt reply back anymore.

Does flashing firmwares void warranty? Also does it have any effect on lets say the emic or flash storage on the phone? And lastly, isn't that 14.1.G.534 a prototype/journalist firmware?

You wont lose warranty by flashing firmwares,and no it wont affect the storage soon.
I don't know if .543 is for prototype,i don't have the phone yet.

Down load autorun blockrr use non rooted basic mode click retail demo uninstall it with click and hold and when it fails wipe administrarors permissions. Worked for me
