it's possible to make one of the ios pebble app to talk with an android app over bt? - Pebble

As iPhone owners we are looking for a solution to get better interactions with galaxy gear. With the rooted rom the gear it's kinda mini tablet. On ios there is a lot of good pebble app, do you think it's possible to create an apk that could catch over bluetooth the notifications That the ios app it's sending?
Thanks

Lot of people reading this post, but no ideas so far!
C'mon developers!

Do you have a gear or a pebble? Your post confused me.

I have a gear, but there is no iOS app for that, and we (iPhone owners) are looking for a solution, considering that the gear with iPhone it's only a standalone device tethered over bluetooth, a solution was to use one Of the existing iOS pebble app (that got a lot of notifications) paired with another app in android over bluetooth, just to see notifications on the Gear.

Gear doesn't support iphones, iphones don't support gear. Pebble doesnt support gear. (So the answer is no) But pebble does support iphones. Get a pebble. Problem solved.

You are wrong. Pebble does support Gear, cause see it like a phone, but this is not the matter, I'm talking about make different apps in different os to talk together. Pebble it's not involved, we are only using pebble app to try something different.

Supposed that xda it's a board about hacking, developing, and roms, not about using devices in stock way

Mode Changer?

Hey all, I just picked up a galaxy gear watch, coming from a Sony smartwatch... Wondering if there is (even with root) an app to change the phone's ringer mode from ring/vibe/silent? There was an app like this for the Sony smartwatch... So, hope there is for gg.... Can't find it or the option..

Built in feature.
I couldn't find it in the features... Sure I can turn the watch sounds on/off, but not the phones (from the watch)

Ohhh ! No, sadly that is not a built in feature..
Sorry I didn't realize what your were asking.
Ah okay, no worries, I thought I was blind in looking through... Hope Samsung (or a crafty dev) might be able to implement this... It was quite handy on my Sony smartwatch when going in / out of meetings (mute my ring tones, etc...)

Why not just keep your phone permanently on vibrate or quiet? You'll get notifications on your watch so you won't miss anything?

Pretty sure that hangouts will come fully to the gear... Its Google's most important toll near future. and Samsung will help there, hoe so too

i'm pretty sure gear is pretty much dead for samsung. they never really cared about it since day one.
the only reason to get one is only because of custom rom. i installed hangout on it and tethered it to my phone and now i have fully running hangout on mobile. i can read and reply to messages and so.
samsung did not even bother to let us use onscreen keyboard to reply texts, why on earth would you think they would be working on hangout for it?

we both know that the way about tethering all stuff will not be the reason for long time. there will arrive a custom rom from somebody which will let function the gear with roms without touchwiz. Then we will see if samsung will wait till google watch arrive or they will open up something. surely both opnions could arrive. for now, samsungs watch is there and living.

Apps (or lack of)

Are any fellow Gear users slightly disappointed by the lack of new apps appearing in the official Samsung store? Like, I'd love a Spotify app that showed the name of the track/album art etc...
I know unless I can program (which I can't), it's not going to happen. It seems the update for dev's is really slow :/
I was just thinking that today. I am less impressived now that the excitement of a new device is over

I just got the gear 2 days ago and I expected much more from sammy. Altho I should have learned my lesson getting the note 1 opening day and I was in this very same situation, awesome new device that might as be a paper weight. The few apps there are are littered with bad reviews or they are the pointless. Sucks

samsung store has been empty since day one. i do not expect it to change anytime soon. there is still no official SDK available to developers. we can make apps for android that will work on gear by sideloading, but we can't use all of it's features..
An SDK will not come any time soon.... Only to selected partners Sammie choose...
It is Sad but it is how it is ...

Considering how powerful the hardware is, Sammy should be really pushing this with an SDK. Unless they are planning to load the gear up with missile blasting codes, they should cut the secrecy and get everyone to start developing, or hang around while iWatch or Pebble 2 or Google Watch or whatever comes and takes away the advantage.

Dont look like they are running tinzen os then?
Evleaks is now saying that these watches are not Galaxy branded. So it seems Samsung is presumably just going to run with the Gear branding.
This is from gsmarena.com
Yep, these are probably the Gear 2 and Gear Neo... later will probably be the Gear Fit. I'm glad it doesn't look too different from my Gear watch... as I'm not ready to shell out more loot yet.
Digging the physical home button and new camera placement though.
Skype, anyone?

I am hoping that I can get a Gear Fit with it still having all the Gear 2 features like the camera.
I need to start saving now to buy this. Got to have it for my Note!
I saw a report saying they are indeed running tizen os.

Tizen on the new gear is a dead nogo imediately for me that is, I can imagine no apps for this thing and since tizen dont have an app store tell me how will we sideload apps from google play to it? The whole point was to make it slimmer and better. It looks the same. Looks thick like the gear and now its running tizen? Hell nah. Ill have to test it out and look more into it for me to buy it. Considering tizen is the os. I think I'll stick with my gear

As soon as I heard about it the first thing I did was to search if anyone had given it consideration.
I just ordered a Gear for the Modding ability (and one to sell) and this would be very cool.
Seeing as how they are aready planning on releasing the SDK to developers, I dont see why this wouldn't be possible. Google wants this on as many devices as they can get to expand the ecosystem of custom apps, to include thier own AWD Google Play.

Alright, well first this is running Android 4.4.2 not 4.2.2 like the gear. If that issue was gone it would be possible.
I already have the "watchface" app running on a Nexus 5. http://i.imgur.com/waaU8Y1.png
Other than the API issue it seems like it would be fairly easy.
Would it be classed as aosp?
This I am interested in, is there enough source and resources to port Android Wear to the Galaxy Gear and bring it up to 4.4.2?

Hope so But doesn't that depend on whether they release a sort of Nexus watch too?
Btw Google announced that they are working with Samsung too. Makes you wonder why Samsung is also releasing a Tizen Watch...

Perhaps in the same way as nexus was made by Samsung, but not officially a Samsung device?

Well it are two different ecosystems in this case. If they knew about this new Android ecosystem they must have realized that they were going to compete with a pretty large ecosystem in the end. I truly doubt that Tizen is going to get much developers love now.

I kinda agree, Tizen was primarily developed as a contingency plan agaist Google.
As you make know, Google and Samsung had a big squabble that now seems to have smoothed out with them coming to agreements on market territory related to patented manufacturing technologies and licensings. This all came to head with Google agreeing to sell off Motorola and loosing a ton of money in the process.
I cant imagine a 100% Touchwiz smartphone running Tizen but that was the worst case scenario plan, if Google and Samsung temporarily parted ways. I think Samsung is just sticking a toe in the water with Tizen since they already spent the money developing it and if successful, can be rolled out on cheaper tablets and handsets likely destined for emerging markets.
I thought, maybe the Android Wear "os" isn't really a specialized firmware, but just a core android os + a "Google Now watch launcher".
Like the new launcher on Nexus Smartphones, that first was Google Experience Launcher on Nexus 5, then become Google Now Launcher for all Nexus.
Maybe we just need to retrieve the launcher apk and install it on Gear, and then run it as any other launcher, as we can still run "Touchwiz Home" with Null_Rom on Gear ?
Gonna see what this looks like on the gear.

It's cause the gear is running API 17 (4.2.2) while this has a minimum API of 19 (4.4.2).
The app, for example, runs perfectly fine, even unedited, on a phone running 4.4.2 (nexus 5 for me).
