First of all, english is not my native language, so please forgive my bad english
Here is my current problem:
I was working around with my new Kindle Fire HD 7'' (v. 11....), rooted it succesfully, everything was running smoothly.
So i was reading my way through some new posts in here on how to remove and get rid off the commercials on the Kindle.
One comment I saw was suggesting the following:
"You will need to have root access first.
Remount /system as read/write
Enter /system/app and rename or delete dtcp* (forgot the rest of the name.
Reboot
Enjoy."
After reading this, I did exactly what the user was suggesting and proceeded to delete both files I found in the "add"-folder beginning with "dtcp".
After doing this, my Kindle already started throwing some errors, so I went on to rebooting the device.
After that, I came into my current situation, with a red triangle showing up, offering me to reset the device to factory settings, which doesn't help me either. I'm basically stuck in a boot-loop atm.
I would really appreciate any help with this and thanks in advance!!

You need a fastboot cable to fix it, you have to reflash the system partition with kindle fire first aid once it is in fastboot.

Edit: if you can't see since the xda app apparently doesnt support stike tags, that was incorrect above because i misread something. so strike that out in your mind if you dont see it stiked through. xD

Don't know what you did but you will have to wait and see if the bootloader gets any exploits because you have to factory reset that way now. I suggest you see if you can get an exchange. Amazon is great about that. There are no other options for you at at the moment.

Alright thanks a ton for the advice.
I got in touch with Amazon support over chat, and the person talking to me was making almost an interrogation out of it since I think they were suspecting that I had bricked the Kindle by rooting it or something similar. But in the end they decided to send me a replacement device.
In addition, they told me I'd get notice from them as soon as they get to examine the state of the old Kindle. You think I'll have to expect any consequences of this if they get to figure out I bricked it by deleting something on root-level which I wasn't supposed to delete?
I just hope they won't make a big deal out of it.... :/ I just hope they won't say I voided the warranty and make me pay for the repair or something

Not likely. They will most likely check for signs of physical damage and send it back to China. I don't think they have scoping capabilities at the return center.
Oh my bad I didn't see the version 11 part in the op, yea those steps I posted are kinda invalid on a 3rd gen kindle.

**** happens. But I think it would be nice if you could correct yourself in the mentioned post so that we can avoid other people to follow the instructions as well and brick their Kindles that way
But besides that, any idea why my Kindle got bricked just by deleting those 2 files that, afaik, only belong to the Amazon-ads-app?
Is it because the app is actually signed, which they introduced with the 3rd gen Kindles?
If that's the reason, that's pretty dumb from Amazon in my opinion, forcing those ads that hard

I'd like your advise. My Kindle Fire went into brick afeter I tried to install TWRP 2.3.1.1. It rebooted and cannot be turned on after that at all. Anything I tred on it does not work, no reaction to the attempt to switch it on or connect it to the PC. Any advise at all, Please? I need to know if there is a chance to revive the thing.

I'm agree with you, it's my fault and my problem. But in theory, what is possible to make, to get back kindle to life?
Well...in theory, you would have to obtain the private signing keys from Amazon so a custom bootloader can be made for the new devices. Then you would have to put it in USBboot mode, most likely by shorting the USBboot pin to a ground point on the device and using a custom tool like Firekit, made for the 2nd generation devices, to send low level USB commands to the device and flash a signed bootloader.
But that's all speculation at this point.

Sticky it so when ever anyone goes into the KF section or KFHD/KF2 in giant red letters it has a popup with the disclaimer

what did you tell them for the reason you wanted it to be replaced ?
I always blame their updates lol i had my first generation replaced 4 times after bricking them.

I just wanna know if anybody is working on a "Dummie's Guide" for the cm10.1 because I don't really know what to do and how to do it in order to have it installed on my KFHD. I'm a noob here and I don't really know what TWRP and FFF does so, if anybody can help me out on the process I would thank it.

Good idea, Give me some time to write a detailed guide that will show you exactly how to install 2nd bootloader and TWRP but until i'm done, You need to get yourself a factory cable just in case something goes wrong, If you know how to solder you can make it yourself i can tell you how, Or you can buy one from Skorpn.
I'll make it in a separate thread for everyone to see and i'll post a link here as well!
NOTE: You mentioned FFF, I know you read it in the original KF forums, This is a 2nd bootloader made for the original 1st generation KF DO NOT TRY TO FLASH THIS AND DO NOT USE KINDLE FIRE UTILITY WITH YOUR KFHD, THIS IS A 100% GUARANTEED HARD BRICK, I've seen this happen over 8 times since i came here, And i would really hate to see it happen again!!

believe me the KFHD is a very well designed tablet and its difficult to brick.

I started off modding my phone. The KFHD 7" is my wife's. I may have to get my own. My wife doesn't like the idea. She wouldn't let me do the Wii or X-BOX either.

I started having trouble around Step 2, with the adb shell commands not working. So I tried another method, and came across this one:

I have a fastboot cable bought from eBay but I'm not sure if I've totally screwed my device or if it can be fixed. Due to the fairly incompetent nature of my fault, I haven't been able to find a solution via searching XDA or other forums, either.
Any help much appreciated.

Yea, flashing anything meant for another device is almost a certain hard brick. when you plug your device into a USB port with a fastboot cable, does it enter fastboot? If it does, you can try a a system restore. If it does nothing, that's it for the device.

It does nothing. Diddly squat. Oh well, I guess I'll just chalk it up to incompetence experience....and go buy a Nexus 7 or Galaxy Tab 3 :-|

I like my Kindle Fire HD however I just bought a Nexus 7 Flo to get me by until the Kindle Fire HDX has some custom ROM's (if it gets some.) I'm a flashaholic and need a fresh fix lol.
Hello, I have a Kindle Fire HD 7" running the downgraded 7.2.3 from KFFA. Then I used Hash's TWRP 2.6.3.1 + 2nd Bootloader thread to get Stock with TWRP but for whatever reason I can't seem to install a ROM that will boot past the "Blue" Logo.
My screen doesn't do the "White haze" that others have mentioned.
Still boots into recovery allowing for wipes + installs.
I have reverted back to 100% stock then made my way back to stock + TWRP three times now, and have looked rather extensively through any threads even somewhat relative to my own problem.
I've been using the Factory fastboot cable to get into fastboot if that makes any difference.
I have downloaded the GAPPs and ROM twice, and I have a very stable connection that hasn't given me issues before.
ROM is the same as from Hash's thread for TWRP + 2nd Bootloader. (cm-10.2-20131115-UNOFFICIAL-tate)
Have tried my cable from my Note 2, Captivate, Epic 4G Touch, and stock KFHD 7" cable as well as the factory fastboot cable.
Kinda stuck, have gone round like this for about 4 hours + now and I must say, the KFHD 7" has been the biggest pain out of any of my Androids by far xD Great tab though.
Any help would be much appreciated. I could always just run stock, but, I'd really like to have CM 4.3 or 4.4 based on my device.

You have no OS and that's why it won't boot past TWRP. Go into TWRP and adb sideload a ROM onto TWRP and flash it and boot into system. You should probably read a bit before just posting. The link answered your question.

If I restore my stock rooted OS via TWRP it boots up just fine . . .
The problem I have is after flashing any ROM's I can't get past the blue logo.
But I'll try what you are saying just for kicks.

You need to check the zip and make sure it did not get corrupted during the download. Goo.img is updating their servers and downloads can be corrupted. Try downloading from the crackflasher mirror. Make sure it is the ROM for your year and model Kindle Fire HD. You also need to update your TWRP to 2.6.3.1 right away, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848 Before you flash, factory "swipe" then flash ROM then wipe Dalvik/CACHE then boot into OS. Just drag and drop ROM onto internal SD card before booting into TWRP.

"You never said you could access an OS." ---> "I could always just run stock"

Well, now you're just flat out being an ass. I've been rooting my phone ever since my G1, definitely not a noob, and I wouldn't have asked for help if I didn't need it and if I hadn't already searched a ton.
I've been here longer then you, just an FYI. Also, your grammar is horrid.
I really wish trolls like you weren't allowed on XDA but man, can't control you guys.
PS: Don't get mad and call me a noob just cause you can't read x'D
EDIT: Linear has been added to my ignore list so if he does reply I don't have an urge to argue with him some more.

I give back to the community by offering free Android and iPhone modding in my area, and free support via text and email.
Plus I make sure to tell them to check out the Dev's thread or website and to consider donating to the people who make the magic happen.
The only service I make people pay for is electronic repairs which is a flat rate of $20 + customer buys the parts.
So I think I give back to the community at least a little seeing as I have at the least 20+ people a month asking for help cause some idiot installed a unstable ROM on their phone and 4G vanished or other problems.
By the way, since we are laying our d*cks on the table, might I add that boasting about how many "Likes" you have or "Thanks" isn't something to be proud of, you earned them yes, but don't shove that in other peoples faces, that's just childish.

OK before this turns into a flame war, lemme ask something. Did you factory reset and wipe the system partition before flashing the cm ROM?

It's water under the bridge for me. Would be funny if that were the case though because asking him if he swiped was one of my initial responses to him.

OK I'm going to reiterate some of what linear said, but in a different way, did you checknthe md5sum of the ROM before you flashed it to make sure it matched up with the one given?

Yes sir I did.
OK now for the stupid question, I saw you said it runs a 7.x.x os, just wanted to verify that you are sure of this. I know that kinda a noob question but I have to ask to double check things. Also have you tried flashing cm 11?

We have another person that can't get a restore to take. I've always wondered if it was a formatting issue for him...
But if you were to hand me this kindle I would restore from the restore tool not kffa then I would follow hash codes install 2nd boot loader + twrp thread .
If you've tried that I'm at a loss

I did verify that it is on stock, rooted, de-self updater-ed, 7.2.3. It was on 7.3 something originally.
Hellfire flashed over just fine, CM 10.1 (I think) Flashed it, booted KindleFire (Orange) then (Blue) then Boot logo Booted pretty fast too.

Yes, 2012 KFHD 7" (Tate)
Yes, TWRP works fine.
No, I got Hellfire to flash, but so far nothing else will flash 0.o :/
Also, I did all my restores from KFFA, BUT, I did do a original backup via ADB and did a restore via Fastboot thinking it might have been KFFA but no go still.
And yes, the thread kinda goes to poop cause I was already kinda upset cause this has been the most frastrating Android to work with, and then the pressure got compounded just cause I decided to ask for help :/
If any of this info helps, please let me know, I believe Hellfire is CM 10.1 . . . I believe, that's off the top of my head though.

To be honest I've only installed kinology... Wife won't let me get rid of the kindle os. I didn't really needed kinology but I wanted to update and did not want to reset it up again. He basically ran a neater version of what I was doing.
Is there an error when you flash the ROM and what ROM are you flashing

First of all i have to say thanks for all the work that everyone here does for persons like me, persons without understanding how an computer, handy, tablet, and so on works.
I hope my question is simple to answer, unfortunally i am a little bit confused about the many versions of the kindle fire and i dont know what tutorial is the right for my device.
I rootet my Kindle Fire HD 7" 2013 (KFSOWI) 11.3.2.2 and installed SU. Works perfect.
Now i want make a complete backup of the device in this state to restore "in case of emergency". :laugh:
A complete image of all "partitions", apps, everthing. Is this possible?
If yes, how?

surpisingly the answer is no. You can backup the recovery partition and the bootimg but thats about it, the system partition is bigger than the ammount of ram the kindle has, and fastboot stores the image in the ram when flashing, luckily theres a utility that can restore your kindle if it bricks, it flashes a smaller system image first thats incomplete but has enough thtere to get adb shell access, then pushes a amazon ota onto the device and forces it to update thus providing you with the full os.

Hey man. Sorry this isn't an answer to your question. But how did you root your 11.3.2.2? Im just having the worst time trying to find out how. If you'd answer this, you'd have my many thanks.
I thought the old method involving a fastboot cable worked. If not try downgrading the os and rooting it.

what method you used to root 11.3.2.2?? Nothing has worked for me

Its the downgrading method with factory cable, without factory cable it will not work.
