Low video quality via HDMI

I have just received original Samsung MiniUSB->HDMI cable for Note and... the video quality is terrible. Picture is choppy, pixelated and misaligned(it's cut on the top with blacks on bottom and sides).
I tried it with full hd Samsung lcd tv(36 inch) and Sony Bravia plasma tv (46 inch) with very same results.
For me it looks like the 720p video output that goes to the AMOLED display is very badly upscalled to [email protected]
Is there any configuration for HDMI output? Is it possible to turn off upscalling, so my tv could get 720p signal just as the phone screen receives it?
Does the TV's support 1080p and not only 720p?

Both TVs are full HD (1920x1080).
Umm are u sure u didnt buy the hdmi from ebay?? Cuz i know there are fake samsung hdmi selling cheap which is bad quality when outputting to your tv!! so make sure you bought the Genuine hdmi from samsung.

Amazon Prime Streaming

I'm wondering if anyone has a good idea to stream amazon prime streaming onto the chromecast. I try to to just cast the whole screen and then it lags. However I'm wondering if the new one might be better for screen mirroring.
I'm almost positive that the new one has better broadcasting options for Amazon video.

Amazon has pretty much gone to war with Google over streaming video. You basically have to pick one (Chromecast/AndroidTV, or FireTV), or go with a successful neutral like Roku. They're being real dicks about it.

ChromeCast Ultra doesn't work on my TV

Hi,
I have buy a chromecast ultra at the airport yesterday. I have try to connect it to my TV without success.
At the first boot, I have a black screen on my TV and my android phone with google home apps saying that their is an update for my Chromecast ultra.
Now, if I make a factory reset or press the reset button I get this :
- On the TV, I can see a blue screen with Chromecast Ultra and a yellow circle. After a few seconds, the chromecast seems reboot, the screen become black and the LED on the chromecast is blinking in white.
- I can configure the chromecast using google home apps or the chrome extension. After the configuration, the screen on the TV is always black and the LED on the chromecast ultra is white and fix.
You can see all of this on the video below :

I have only one HDMI port on the TV and I don't know the manufacturer. Devices like SOny PS3 work on my TV using HDMI. I have disconnect and reconnect all but it doesn't change anything.
Google say that some old TV are not compatible with their device. Can you help me to solve the problem ?
Thanks for your help.
Is your TV a 4K TV, the ultra is for 4K TVs?

My TV isn't 4k. It's an old TV.
I have buy the Ultra version because the store only have this version.

Yes it may be meant for 4K TVs but it should still display on lower resolutions as well.
My suggestion is to bring the unit back to where you bought it and let them test it on one of their monitors and see if they get screen.
It is very possible you just got a lemon unit.
I can't bring back the unit. I have buy it in an airport during holiday.
I test it on the new TV of a friend, I get a picture. I hope that the device can work on old TV or on TV that is not smart.
Is there a solution to make the ChromeCast Ultra compatible with my old TV ? Is there a configuration file that I can edit or an adaptator that I can put between the ChromeCast and my TV ?
Thanks,

The age of the TV doesn't matter...If it has an HDMI input then it should display in whatever resolution the TV supports.
Since it works on other TVs the only thing left is that the Input to the TV is bad.
Is there another input you can try it on?
Bad news, your TV is too old since it works on your friends TV.

No. I have only 1 HDMI port on the TV. The other input is SCART.

So this is a French TV? (which could explain your problem.)
What Airport did you buy this Chromecast?
I'm going to bet that you have a SECAM TV but the CCast may only supports NTSC or PAL.
If you bought this in the US it is possible it won't support a SECAM TV but the UK version might since PAL and SECAM are very similar.
It's a combination of things working against you here...Yes the TV is a bit old and not very forgiving in what signals it will accept. coupled with the fact that France, and the Former Soviet countries were the only ones who used the SECAM standard where most of Europe uses PAL and the rest of the world uses NTSC.
The cheapest solution is probably to buy a new TV as there is no guarantee that any CCast will work with that one.
You could probably buy a PAL adapter and convert the signal but that is likely to cost as much as a new TV will.
Thanks for your answer.
I don't know if my TV is Secam or Pal. I only use it with my Sony PS3.
I have buy the ChromeCast in Australia.

If it has SCART it is probably only SECAM....
The Aussie CCast is definitely PAL compatible.
I'm guessing your TV was one of the tweener models many people got stuck with in the time where SD was being phased out and Digital standards were not yet set.
Hello,
I have the same issue here and it seems that the chromecast is outputting at 1080p when ur TVs are only going up to 480p
Not nice to mention this risk on google side

Any HDMI Adapter help.

As they Title says. Could you please let me know if you're used any that works with 5t. I'm getting my phone next week and would like to get adapter so I can plug my phone to big screen when I'm at home/ office...

I know theta no video out. But there's a lot of mhl cables that you can buy. That's where I was looking at thanks.
sorry I should have explained better. My bad. When I said no I meant there is zero way to get any kind of video out from the phone, I have looked everywhere. No MHL, SlimPort, or HDMI. Like most companies today, OnePlus has not included it in the hardware. For the most part, everyone is pushing for wireless video like the Chromecast.

Hi guys
I need to display from my phone to a 4k screen via HDMI cable
Any recommendations for a good converter
I think a google chromecast ultra is a good way.

Looking for a cheap Chromecast

Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy a Chromecast off of ebay but I'm not sure if this is ok to buy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Chrome...HDMI-Media-Video-Streamer-Player/392876990895
There's no Google branding anywhere so it's obviously a knockoff but would it still allow me to mirror my phone screen via Smart View, PC desktop and browser tabs, YouTube, Spotify and Poweramp from their apps just like a legit Google Chromecast would? Would be nice if someone who's bought a similar thing shares some info. I'd like to save as much money as possible as all Google branded ones have delivery fees bigger than the device itself and in the local shops here it's around 40 euro which is still pricey.

Buy once cry once. Don't cheap out on something you really want to use and enjoy. I personally gave up on casting since dex seems to have a cleaner image quality to me with movies.

Yeah but I'd like a way to use my TV wirelessly. DeX needs an HDMI cable. Also if I buy a Chromecast I can use wireless DeX if it comes to my Note9. Guess I'll get the real Google Chromecast as a present for my birthday in 6 months.
I just hope I can cast H265 HEVC mkv video files via VLC. I know the Chromecast 3 doesn't support it but I've read VLC converts it to H264 in real time and plays it via the Chromecast.

I use VLC and it does work with the fjrst gen chromecast but even I notice a quality different and beyond 720p I normally don't. It also could lag etc. I recently unplug my chromecast since it kept freezing playing the same movie it played the night before flawlessly. Just my experience. I have been looking at the nvidia device and wondering if it could handle casting better.
