What do you mean exactly? I am 3 themes installed and they all appear when I go to select a theme. What theme is not showing up?

Any time I tried to open the apks to install them, it told me it could not open the file

That's weird, its working now except the theme is screwy with the stock messenger, which also has no dark mode for replies.
I'll mess around with it a bit. Nice job on it. I've always loved carbon. First ROM I put on this phone was 4.3

Can anyone verify whether this rom borks the radio effectiveness like all other 4.4 roms? please say it doesn't. ugh

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, as far as radio strength? It will show less bars (this is an aosp thing) but it will still have the same dBm.

So excited for this. I loved the 4.3 CarbonRom builds.
Thanks for building these for us!

Thanks Mrbobrowitz but unfortunately it is more than that. I've noticed about a 10-15 dbm drop on any 4.4 Rom whether it be aosp our cm. I haven't run enough tests to be more specific but all kitkat rooms are impacted. In fact, I believe, though not certain, that this became a problem in 4.3. Same issue on my gnex and g2.

Must be bad luck, my dBm are identical from stock to any 4.4 ROM.

MrBobrowitz, I've just started to learn how to build and have successfully modified some xxhdpi "quick access ribbon" icon png files to be more visible against a black background. Currently some of the "off" toggle icons are a very dark grey which is almost impossible to see against a black background. I've modified those to be white which looks much better. See the screenshot for my modifications. The Airplane mode and wifi "off" icons are examples of what I've modified from grey outlines to white. Anyway, I'd sure love to get those committed or merged or whatever its the right process so I can just use yours and eventually Carbon's builds. Please advise.

[ROM][AOSP] Primerunner

Encouraged by the people in the Trinity Four Thread, I'd like to present the Primerunner on XDA. It aims to be a simple and lightweight rom based on AOSP. Stability is also of critical concern to me. Should be usable as a daily driver.
It was initially built -with fun in mind- for my friends and me, but I was persuaded to share it, so here you are.
Some features of the rom
Primerunner^TM navbar - automatic layout change from 3 to 4 buttons
enhanced QuickSettings with support for long-press/click
pulling notifications in the top-right corner opens QS
custom bootanimation by uRRs
custom navbar icons by uRRs (moved to a separate zipthemer addon)
custom wallpapers by buddhalou
Koush's Superuser
enhanced power menu, only visible if unlocked
notification led customization
theme engine
minimal options
loads of bugfixes and optimizations "under the hood"
built from source
bull****-free
Extras
uRRs' Predator-style ZipThemer softkeys, packaged by @smenes
simple Primerunner wallpapers by @buddahlou
Sony Sketch fonts by @smenes
Primerunner theme engine theme (beta)
Still some things to do...
various cosmetics, theming
own settings front-end for QS, sync tile
move wallpaper contributions to own apk done
persistent Primerunner navbar mode
other things i probably don't remember
...
Shout-outs
for keeping their source open all the time. Couldn't have learned so much how things work in Android without them:
everyone living out the open-source philosophy, especially
the Evervolv team
the CyanogenMod team
the AOKP team
the Trinity/Rasbean team
and Sparksco
Instructions
download and flash via recovery (gapps already included)
flash your favorite kernel afterwards, if applicable
if you're coming from another rom, perform a wipe first
it is rumored that a wipe is not always needed, but this is unsupported here
Complete history
Primerunner sources (usually updated in due time)
Downloads
Get Primerunner within the thread, via Rom Manager or here:
Primerunner mirror by @Carlbark (1000 thanks!)
Primerunner roms (thx waxxweasel)
Kernal Downloads
Primerunner kernels (thx to waxxweasel)
Feel free to request features, but be aware that I won't include them necessarily if I don't see a reason.
New versions are released whenever I find spare time to work on the rom (or if a critical bug is fixed).
Enjoy!

Been running this ROM for 2 days since stumbling across it in the trinity thread; hands down one of the smoothest and fastest Roms I've ever tried. Currently running it with Matrix 6.0 gpuOC and its smooth, fast and I'm getting amazing battery life. Love the auto 3 to 4 nav bar and custom icons (maybe prefer some different icons but they're cool). It's got all the tile options I need, only request would maybe be some percentage battery mods (which I'm sure there are some flash able ones I could apply but didn't want to risk messing up anything with your ROM as it's running so smooth!). Thanks for your great work

A bit off topic but I just compared the details of your scores to mine (I'm running Jellybro) and noticed that the biggest difference between this ROM and mine is in the RAM performance. I'm getting identical scores in graphics and IO (I get 7391 IO in quadrant). I can also deduct from the scores that only the floating point performance is better while the integer is even. I do have slight clock advantage as I am running 1836.
I hope this info is helpful

graphics should be the same, as we are limited to 60fps(there are hacks to increase this, but its not a true more than 60 fps), the i/o should be similar as it will vary a little up/down per run.
I can't get the quick settings control panel to save to save the order I want the tiles to be in. Doesn't seem to change for me. Other than that this ROM is very nice and stable. Love the nav bar soft keys, very cool.

You have to enable the tiles in the order you want. After that, just reboot. Everything will be fine.
I know it's pesky. We got to deal with that, until we got a new settings frontend.

{ROM} {Swigs' Builds} {Build 3}

Hey all.
To keep it short, I wanted a slimmed down, fast, battery-friendly, feature-filled ROM and that's what I will try to present to you.
ROM is ~115Mb.
If you (and others) request a feature, then I will gladly try to implement it into this ROM.
When I feel I have updated enough for a new build, I'll upload something new (which will probably be often).

So far, best ROM I have ever used my n4. One request to make it perfect (in my opinion), anyway to get network speeds with individual upload and download stats in the status bar? If not, no worries. As long as the bloat stays down, I'll be a loyal follower.

The individual upload and download speeds are implemented into CarbonRom from chaOS I beleive. So it should be difficult to cherry pick.
Tried to attch screenshot but xda app is being stupid. It does look good though.

I made the menu addable to the navbar again; is that what you were asking for?

Made menu addable to navbar
Removed ringtones and notification sounds
Removed Thyrus Holo Black theme
Slim commits

But the ROM is ~115 Mb now.

I'm using BaNkS' gapps on Galaxy S4 and Slim GApps 1.1beta on Nexus 5. Both are good. Probably BaNkS is better for N4, has minimal core, camera photosphere, keyboard options.

Hey crash,
Which Gapps do you recommend? There is like GApps-Core and standard? Does it even matter?
Thanks!

LOVE IT!
Tried many different ROMs while waiting for beanstalk. Everyone of those had very frequent updates and not one of the roms still are on the same lavel as beanstalks first build! Unbelievable
Now I am only missing quicksetting from notification and exchange email security disabled mod. But this is my problem
Great work!

Yes. I'm having major issues with Wi-Fi. And this seems to be effecting my data. The second I turn Wi-Fi off, everything goes back to normal. Either it won't connect at all or the connection is extremely slow. I've been searching the post and so far it seems that I am the only one with this issue. Im going to update today, gapps included and see if maybe I just did something wrong.
update: the latest build is pretty much flawless! whatever youre doing.....youre killin it guys!
Try downloading
Not worth filling all the questions and forms just to down load test ROM? Now WiFi issues? Think I will wait. Also the gapps and extras down links are broken.
It also wants you to install word press.
Where can I get the update? Do I have to download word press?
