[Bug][Omni Rom][Nexus 7 flo] can't enable wifi - General Omni Discussion

Sometimes, ie once every day or every two days, I cant enable my wifi from notification settings. When I touch the wifi icon, it simply animates(revolving circle) and cant start wifi. Everything works fine after I restart my device. I know this is not much, but it could still be smaller part of a bigger problem in the future

Tomtom screen disabeling

I already made a thread about the backlight, but it seems that I only have that problem while using Tomtom.
If I use tomtom without external power, the screen blanks after 30 seconds, or whatever setting is used in the energy settings of the TD2.
When driving on external power, the screen goes blank after 30 minutes (the maximum of the settings if the TD2 isn't used.
On my diamond 1, the diamond recognized tomtom as an active application, hence the screen would stay on, until the battery was empty.
Weird thing is: if I use Coreplayer, the screen does stay on, so the TD2 recognizes Coreplayer as an active application.
More people with this problem? I have the latest official HTC rom (Dutch). Did multiple hard-resets and multiple installations of TT7 (7.910 and 7.915 versions). With or without audio-fix; no matter what: screen blanks....
Touch Incall Tweak ?
maybe is the Touch Incall tweak the solution for you? You can then manually enable backlight settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488991!:
Hope this works for you, did it for me.
Unfortunately, it did not. I installed the app, did a soft reset and saw that TomTom was one of the applications on the list.
However, after the same period the screen went blank again. As far as I understand it, the applications on that list are the apps that should prevent the screen blanking out, when a call is coming in. But using tomtom, not always a call comes in..
So, how did you manage to get it working then..??
Honoustly I don't know. I remember I had the same problem but after a while the screen doesn't switch off anymore.
I always have the TD2 power connected when navigating and in the settings tab-more-system-energy-advanced tab you can control the lighting settings and time outs.
Must say that I downgraded to Tomtom 7.910.9185 caus' it should work a little better... I still have the big lag and slow screen refreshing problem though.
For navigating I use Nav'n go Igo (8.3.2.80621) now. Has a lag also but works better and more stable. And uses maps of 10-3-2009!
What version are you using?
TT 7.915.9196, but tried the .9185 also, but seemed to me that that version gave a little more lag than the newest. Newest is stable; the point of the arrow is the point that my car is, so thats ok with me.
Last thing seems that on car power the tt stays on now, but on battery power still disables the screen. Both versions, with or without the audio-fix, with or without the tweak.
O and I upgraded to the latest rom; no result either.

Wifi/Data Disconnecting on Screen Sleep

When my screen goes to sleep, my Wifi or my data connection stops (whichever one I'm using).
If I'm listening to the radio using Radio Time, the sound stops after the screen sleeps. An interesting thing to note is that if you go to the lock screen, it starts playing again. It seems like the screen just needs to be on. The problem seems to be limited to just certain applications because Pandora still plays after the screen turns off.
Another app, Android Web Desktop, which allows you to text and manage your files from the computer, doesn't work correctly either. Nothing loads while my screen is off but it starts loading once I turn my screen on.
I'm running on a Sprint HTC Hero with DamageControls v2.07.2 ROM for Android 2.1. I also have a Flan lockscreen. I don't know whether the problem is ROM related or what.
Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix this?
Please Help!
Make sure always on mobile data in settings is checked.

I just check the settings and I already had always on checked. Should I just wipe and see if the problem goes away? Am I the only one with this problem?
check the wifi sleep policy as well.
Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wifi Settings> [press menu] > Advanced >Wifi Sleep Policy
Setting it to never will make the wifi radio never disconnect, at the expense of battery, of course.
I have it too, although I sort of assumed it was by design. Makes for a pretty frustrating experience trying to use Gmote or Boxee Remote.

I'm still having the problem kinda. It seemed to not turn it off as fast. It stopped working after about 30 seconds in Android Desktop and RadioTime kept playing but was very skippy. Are you having this problem? I don't understand why certain app work and certain don't.

For problems with Gmote and Boxee Remote, this fixed my issue.

That was a useful suggestion. To go a bit further on this point. You can turn on/off your wifi (and more) by using applications like timeriffic when you really don't need it. Eg, when you're sleeping. Timeriffic changes some of your profiles based on time so it would be a great option to add to this setting change.

I use Juice Defender to do the same thing and I let it manage my mobile data connection. Helps stretch out the times between charges a little bit despite me using my phone very heavily.
Solution , for me

Turn off WiFi optimization .

[Q] GPS Working but Icon is a pain

OK! GPS is working fine for me. Just that it takes forever to lock when there's no active data connection. Otherwise is a beauty. Now my problem is one hooked to sats the icon stop blinking which is normal but then it wouldn't disappear after I've switched off GPS. I mean to say that the icon stays there even after GPS has been switched off. Also when this happens it doesn't speak to satellites nor attempts to see them in lbstestmode. I have to restart my phone again for the icon to disappear and the phone to start talking to the satellites.
BUMP to the top!

[Q] Wifi and Bluetooth under XDAndroid

Since Sprint is going to try and screw me big time if I get a new phone, I've decided to see what new life I could put into my old Touch Diamond (DIA500). I installed XDAndroid FRX05, and it seems to be working really well, with a few exceptions. One of the first things I tried was to enable Bluetooth. What happens is that it enables, but about 4 seconds after being enabled, it says it's shutting down, then it starts back up, and shuts down. It keeps doing this forever, until I turn it off. Now that I tried Wifi, it does the exact same thing. I've rebooted a few times, and took the battery out once, but still nothing. I've since installed a battery-saving program, but this happened on a fresh install.
The next issue is with the backlight. If I try and change the brightness, it changes for a second, then goes back to the brightness it was. It does this whether I turn the brightness up or down. It's not set to auto.
The third issue is the GPS. It works, but seems to take a long time to get a lock. Under WM, I'd have some kind of location within seconds, even inside. I'm guessing it was using the phone network to speed things up. Under android, it takes a few minutes sometimes, and it's worse inside.
I also had a nightmare calibrating the screen. It's still a little off, but it works. Does anyone know a screen calibration program that would work?
Any ideas?
Thanks!
To solve the brightness problem. Boot WinMo and turn off auto brightness there. That will solve that problem.
Thanks for share you knowledge here DA01

GPS seems to enter sleep when the screen is off

Hi,
I often use the RunKeeper application when I make long walks. In all my previous phones, the GPS kept working when I turned off the display and put the phone in my pocket. In the mi 5, however, it seems like the GPS stopped functioning as soon as I turn off the display put the phone in my pocket. When I take it back out, it shows the same position that I was at when I put the phone in my pocket, and within a few seconds it is updated to my actual position.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a matter of settings (maybe even permissions)? Same happens with navigation apps like Waze - if I put another application to run in the foreground, such as Youtube, then Waze (while still working in the background) loses my location, and when I switch back to it after some time, it takes a few seconds to show me my new location.
Thanks,
Shlomy
Hi,
This has happened to me also while using the Starva app and the reason is MIUI doesn't allow to use the Location in Background.
To allow that, go to
Settings -> Battery & Performance -> Power -> App Battery Saver
and select the app you want. Then you'll see that Background location is Restrict. Make it Allow and you're good to go.
Regards,
Samitha
Thanks so much! Almost got me to try custom roms because of that.
