Yeah, I thought it was starting to look a little boring here in the 8.9" Development forums, so I did a build of this, patched it up, and uploaded it.

Has anyone tested this? I wanna know if it works before making an LTE version

I'm been running the ROM since you posted it and it runs very smooth.
A couple of minor issues I've seen but it could be my settings:
Settings>Carbon Fibers>Lockscreen >Active Display: I had to turn this off, though I like the feature. It kept wanting to wake up my device and seemed to interfere with the battery charging because it kept waking up the tablet.
Status bar and menu bar disappear occasionally. A quick press off of the power button then back on brings it back. i haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. Like I said, it could be a tweak or a setting on my end unrelated to the ROM.
Thanks for your work on this!

Thanks! I'm glad to know that it works. I'll try to get an LTE one up.

confession...
Was not expecting much from ROM since I have installed a couple of other KK ROMs on my KFHD89 and they were just 'ok' ( not wanting to dis their work, it is very much appreciated ). Well, I am pleasantly surprised with Carbon :good:
Mostly two things, performance...everything seems smoother, silkier, quicker...and battery is pretty excellent. I understand some of that is related to KK, but I sense some differences with Carbon.
Still have issue with some apps crashing on launch after install...where the solution is to backup and restore with Titanium Backup...wish this was not needed as a 'fix' ... also, it doesn't work with all apps.
Other than that, it's great and hope OP continue to keep us KFHD89 folks updated with fresh KK...at least for a little while
Thank you!

I am not an XBMC user, however I was able to download XBMC from the Play store and launch it. It allows me to search for/connect to an XBMC host.

Thanks

Thank you for experimenting. I don't think the Playstore has the regular XBMC media center; you may have tested the XBMC Remote app or something similar.
XBMC for Android can only be downloaded here:

I'm still looking for a Kit Kat build that is compatible.
Thank you again.

Short answer:
download Build.prop Editor from the Play store and use it to change the ro.product.manufacturer line from Amazon to Samsung.

I downloaded and successfully installed the XBMC app from the link you provided. It went through the 'preparing for first run', I am able to swipe through various bits of the menu...I see scrolling news at the bottom. I was able to use the Weather app. Appears to be working. Not sure what else I could do or test with this app.
edit: I added a couple of 'channels' like HGTV and DIY...I was able to start playing/streaming a show on the HGTV channel.
edit2: forgot to mention, it flips the screen 180, but when you turn the tablet to reorient, it sticks, it doesn't flip back.

Great help

You are great. Your experiments have convinced me to install Carbon Rom and go from there. Many thanks.

Good to have another option
Loving the other KitKat Jem ROMs here as well, I appreciated your comment about wanting to keep this device section from getting too boring! Glad to hear there's still activity on the LTE front, although I realize that's a tricky one. I'm not expecting miracles here, just glad to hear about the interest. Thanks for all of it!

[ROM][BETA][3G ONLY] Magnolia Tab 1.1 BETA [Rooted Stock w/ Tweaks]

This Beta is CLOSED. I have a tweaked stock rom up in this forum, so please see that if you want to try it out. I will be releasing an RC 1 of this ROM, with theming and more mods within a week or so. Thanks.
Steve
Hello all. I'm back, and together with Task 650, have created a nice little ROM that I would like to ask up to 10 people to beta test for me over the next few days or however long it takes to make it as solid as can be. In the interests of full disclosure, yes, I am the guy who made his first Samsung ROM and bricked a few users' devices...please see that thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22760426&postcount=115) for an explanation of what went wrong, and why it won't happen again.
Here is a screenshot of the new, non-bricking, beta ROM running on my Galaxy Tab 7.7:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Anyway, right now, this is basically a stock ROM that I put together based on P6800ZSLA2 TGY (Hong Kong), along with Task 650's help/advice/tweaks, with these features:
1. Deodexed,
2. Zipaligned,
3. Stock kernel,
4. Init.d support (ALL CREDIT to TASK 650 for his scripts, this is some bad-ass work);
5. Zipalign, sqlite optimization scripts (thanks to Task for suggesting these as good scripts for the tab, and to their authors for the scripts themselves. I will be adding some scripts I like as I test them out and see how they translate to this device),
6. Busybox run parts (thanks to Task 650 for providing these),
6. build.prop tweaks for improved wifi, screen responsiveness, keeping home app in memory, higher camera/video quality, etc. (credit to Task 650 for these),
7. stock theme/minimal recoding extended powermenu (thanks eznow for the example),
8. Optimized pngs and smali-based tweaks for a smoother stock launcher experience (more to come...),
8. I think that's it...
[Coming Soon
1. Hidden screenshot/quicklaunch button (optional);
2. Theming for samsung widgets;
3. More (hopefully including working hidebar app)...
I plan to use this ROM as the base for future ROMS, and after beta testing, anyone can use it as a base for their own ROMs, provided they give me credit and ask Task to use his tweaks and give him credit for them (or remove the tweaks altogether). My future ROMs will have lots of customizations that I am already itching for, from smali-based tweaks, like getting rid of the screenshot button (why the hell is it right there? ) multi-tweak apps like they have for HTC devices, and hiding the taskbar (the hidebar app doesn't work on this tablet) to theming, which, if you google my HTC ROMs (esp. Incredible 1 & 2 Magnolia ROMs) on XDA, I am heavily into...
Anyway, I am glad to have a new start, and hope to be a major contributor over here in Sammy land...
If you wish to become a beta tester, please PM me, and I will provide you with a link. Clearly this testing is not for the faint of heart or people with no knowledge or experience with flashing and using custom ROMs...while I am extremely confident that the ROM is safe as hell, I just want potential testers to be aware that there is always some risk involved in flshing any ROM, and especially a beta like this
Thanks, and I hope this works out for all...

All languages (well, you know, all major ones...). It will default to US English (I set it that way) for setup, keyboard, etc. and time zone is Hong Kong by default, but you can choose whatever you want. Again, if you want to try, please pm me. thanks!

goodnight steve, we have the same firmware and for me hide the application bar works without any problems ........ aside, I would have liked to be part of your new beta tester but the problem is that I do not master the language at all shakspear, and I too superficielement control computer .... in the meantime I wish you luck and thank you in advance for all that you do and will do for the community. If that may help p 6800 is overclockable via the App tegrak ..... mine is overclocked and to date the tablet no longer suffer from any slowdown whatever it is ..... Good luck on the part of a future user.....

Your hidebar app works? Maybe I have an outdated version...I'll take a look. I hope that's the case. Do you have a screenshot with the bar hidden? My app would run fine, and the statusbar icon is there, but no hiding...
Oh, and there is french on this, as I said above, it has all major languages (dont Francaise), you select whatever you want at the first screen of setup...it's just set to english by default.

Steve, are we going to have more fee ram at all from this new custom ROM you are doing for us? I ask because I can't really have multitasking with this 7.7 unlike my Note which is running so much better than this HC stuff. My dolphin browser half the time will have to reload if I went back to home and accessed another app. Will wait for your kind answers and I'm not smart enough to be any beta tester.

Yes. I plan to have scripts in place that will increase available ram. Right now, i just want to get to the point where we know the build is stable, through testing, then I'll start to tweak more.
I will say that I experience no lag on the current. Build, running my usual email, browser, music, market, etc. I generally use ADW EX, but am using stock home while testing., and it is smooth...

Q: I've always been a fan of removing the notification bars in any OS, so that
animated, or static backgrounds would fill the whole scree to the last pixel.
On the 3,7" HTC HD1 it was such a major improvement that people would
ask if I'd bought a bigger phone.
Just hoping more people than just me like transparency themes and hiding notification bar to "enlarge" screen.
Keep up the good work
Nice. You got around to getting it out to the public. Or at least testing. I'm 100% sure things are going to go smooth as hell this time around bro.

[ROM]Atrix-Paranoid-HIBRID-TabletUI+Smartphone 1.1 --- 01/06/2012

I share this with you, I found a rom here on xda, Hybrid Rom, code name "Paranoid" is not a rom with all the options that my rom is AOKP, but focused on the tablet.
This rom is a very interesting option, you can "set" any app to have an individual appearance tablet / smartphone, this is phenomenal (I love it!).
Of course, I included my installation aroma, with applications black and some other options (the same as AOKP).
Personal, remembering that my focus is the segment AOKP original, then things can go wrong, I have not tested for a long time, and will not give much support to this, but I'm sure the majority is working perfectly
I can not stop thanking these guys:

hear everything these guys say, are behind all this too, always helping me with what I need!

I flashed Spleef's version last night and most things seemd to work great.
I have my sim card in another phone so I cant test cell, and data connectivity, but wifi and UI are good.
I noticed that the rom was never going into deep sleep.
I tried flashed the bluesleepfix.zip that usually seems to help with this, and I kept getting System UI force closes.
Im gonna flash leo's and see if there is any noticeable change, mainly with the ability for the rom to "Deep Sleep"
But awesome work guys!
Make me love my atrix more and more!!

---------- Post added at 02:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
Here are some tips and tricks ive figure out on this rom.
1: Stay away from "Global Density" "Default SystemUI DPI" and "Default SystemUI DPI" settings in "paranoid settings"
Messing with these settings caused some systemUI force closes that caused my notification bar to disappear and the only way to get it back was to do a full wipe and re-install. Now to be fair this only happened to me with Spleef's build, and I have yet to test these settings in Leo's build, but I find them pointless, as I will explain.
2: Any change to the UI you want to make can be made easily through the "list apps" setting. Just navigate to the "settings" apk and make the LAYOUT "Tablet." Set the Dpi to 190, and it fits perfect. Any app the you want to be "tablet" moded can done this way as well.
3: Enable "tablet" LAYOUT for nova launcher. Set the DPI to 220. Navigate to "Nova Settins." Go to Destop/Width Margin and set to none. Same with Height Margin. Now go to "Dock" and change the "Width Margin" to none as well.
Now we are able to use all the space on the screen instead of it all being squished together, and you will get the neat tablet "3d blue cube" effect when changing home screens.
Hope this helps, and anything else I figure out ill post.
Good job guys!

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.

FAQ & Help - Read before asking!
Go to Settings, System, Font size, set it to NORMAL
Launcher Settings: margins: SMALL (If youre using Apex / Nova), show permanent searchbar: YES, Grid: 5x4, resize all widgets: YES, Wallpaper scrolling: OFF
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Fixed tablet mode
v1.5 / RLS 1 - My edits are in RED
Built from source - 25/6/2012 - 11:3:12
Removed AROMA installer, now using CM kernel, you can install any AOSP kernel
Improvements on OTA app, scheduled checkups
Improvements on Backup app, now it automatically launches on startup after you install a newer (or older) version
Hybrid speedup, less lag, considerably faster list scrolling when pad/pal is in action
Keyboard scaling, an androids first
PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower DPIs
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you
Pad.prop revamp, new preferences that should pretty much nail it. I'm sorry but this trashes your old settings again, do not attempt to restore them unless you do it in a text editor
Removed soft rendering
Fixed calls
Booted for the Inc
How often will this ROM be updated?
I will stay updated with the CM9 nightlies as well as the Paranoid Android releases. This means that if there is a significant update to the CM9 nightlies I will rebase the ROM so that it is current. If there is also an update to PA then I will incorporate those fixes AND rebase the ROM to the CM9 nightly.
Something went wrong! Can you help me?
I'd love to help you, but I need a little more information about your issue. You should provide us with information regarding what your issue causes and what you did before the issue started. However, before asking me and the community, ask yourself two simple questions:
Can I reproduce the error?
Have I looked for a solution?
If you answered "yes" to both of these questions and came up empty handed, then post it in the thread and it will be addressed.
Can you add *this* to the ROM?
Although we are not obligated to add anything and everything to the ROM, we will do our best to supply your desires and live up to your expectations. Do not mistake this for a guarantee. We would like to do everything, but we may not be able to.
I'm experiencing some force closes, what gives?
Boot into recovery and fix permissions. Then reboot.
I love this ROM, can you do more projects like this?
Yes, I can do more porting projects. If you find any other AOSP ICS ROMs that you want ported, let me know.
My battery life sucks. What gives?
HWA (hardware acceleration) is sucking the battery life out of the ROM.
Where can I go for information about the latest updates?
You can follow me on Twitter
Hell yeah can't wait to check this out!

Yeah. It's a CM9 based ROM that allows you to switch between phone and tablet mode which gives you the opportunity to use tablet apps and view apps as how a tablet would display them. It also gives you the possibility of adding customizable onscreen buttons like the GNex. And a lot more...
Hmm.. sounds interesting.
Might it come with your battery mod?
Using clutch right now because I needed battery.

I put it in there, though HWA might take a toll on the battery life. So far the battery life seems decent.

Glad you like it (though it's the ParanoidAndroid team's work) I'm going to try and fix tablet mode (optimized) in the next update so it shows the status bar at the bottom.
Since I'm waiting to sell this phone, I might as well help a phenomenal Dev out...
Flashing soon. Thanks PureMotive.
can anyone comment on the speed of this rom and what doesn't work? and lag/smoothness? last time i installed a CM9 rom it wasn't ready for prime time. have things changed?
Lol I asked about this in CM9 thread the other day and BAM! Awesome job getting this working for us.

Wow!!!
Trying it out now as we speak and it seems very fast. How long does it stay in tablet mode? I kind of like Tablet mode but would be nice if the lettering and such were normal size but in tablet mode
Maybe this will work Pure? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23275045

The phone stays in tablet mode for as long as you want it to. You can change the font size to your preference. Personally, I like tablet mode (small).

Great, looking forward to it.
Also just so everyone knows, this is beyond dpi.. you can manage a super small sleek look while your apps can be set at different dpi sizes.
You won't find this in the market my friends, this is the real deal.
On a side note.. is there a good working kernel? Flashed Invisibleks kernel and its draining fast.
Edit: looks like jelly bean is all the Rage right now, almost every front topic is saying jelly bean.
Curious how well it will work on our phone, I've read it included various tweaks to certain parts of ICS.

Android 4.3.1 - ParanoidAndroid 3.99 RC2
I just wanted unaltered Paranoid Android for my tablet like I have on my phone, but it wasn't available. So, after some hair pulling, and some very gracious guidance from HumberOS and Androguide.fr I built it from source. I've been running it for 3 days now, and haven't noticed anything except the menu soft-button doesn't appear on some apps, but that is an app issue not the ROM, so without further Ado:
Screenshots Attached
And here is are the download links for both devices (make sure to download your device):
AOSPA 3.99-RC2 FW:4.3.1
-MIRROR-
older build: AOSPA 3.69 FW:4.2.2 no GT-N8000 - MIRROR
GApps - MIRROR 1 - MIRROR 2
GApps are not my work, I am merely listing them here for convenience.
WHAT WORKS:
Everything so Far including the S-pen (hence the use of the word Everything).:silly:
BUGS:
NONE:cyclops:
MANY MANY THANKS got to:
ParanoidAndroid Team
CyanogenMOD Team
HumberOS

(hopefully thats all if I forgot anybody whose work got rolled in, PM me and I'll add you)
..and of course thanks to anybody who chooses to hit the donate button!!!:highfive:
my source code is here
ParanoidAndroid source code
I am also building for th GT-N8000 before anyone asks it will be at the above link in a few days.
If you like to play with "developer options", go to "About Tablet" in settings and tap build number 7 times to unhide the option,
but it is not necessary for any normal function.
ALL SOUND ISSUES FIXED!!! Now compatible with Awesome Beats v5+
I will be updating ONLY for security updates and version updates. There will be NO NIGHTLY builds. I want to stay married! LOL
Updated to latest version as of 10/27/2013
PLEASE!!!!!! NO PM's ABOUT COMPATIBILITY OR QUESTIONS!
THIS FORUM IS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS and the other users can and often will answer your questions faster than I will. Also I ONLY have the GT-N8013 so asking me if it works on any other version of the note 10.1 is futile. I support the N8013 and N8000 because there is official support at Cyanogenmod for them which is what most of PA is based on. any other N80xx device may or may not work. Try if you want it is your risk. If it works I am glad I could give you PA as well and others would love to know SO POST.

What flashing process did you use, so that others might follow? Did you do a complete wipe, or just flash over an existing ROM. Several people are telling me they have no sound. I am checking the source code now to find the bug, but a work around would be nice in the meantime.

I cant seem to get rid of halo, don't know if that's me or the ROM but reporting anyway
Can't get a menu button to appear, I know its been said but reporting anyway
And voice search isn't working which, unfortunately, is a deal breaker
I'll keep watching this ROM till more things are working, but awesome job!

The only sound problem that I had was when i do video recording (the sound not recorded) and the 2nd problem my battery level not working..and when I plug in the charger there is no charging status...anyone with the same problem...

Sound issue
@Tattoo_Paul,
Sorry for delay.
I will check the sound issue today later.
Btw, nice work dude!
Congras!
------------------
Edited:
I saw that you solved it!
Nice!
Sound IS working on all build!
Sound is working on all n8013 builds now! Redownload the rom. If you have no sound you have an old copy of the rom.
As for the n8000 builds showing a question mark for the battery, its a kernel issue, that should be resolved shortly.
As for n8010 compatibility, I DON'T KNOW! Usually n8013 and n8010 roms are mostly compatible, but I take know responsibility for your device should you choose to flash this rom.
Just for the knoeledge base, the sound issue was caused by a misnamed file. system/etc/sound should contain a file named n8013 (or n8000) when compiled it was named GT-N8013. Rename it to n8013 (with lowercase n) and all sound turns on. If that doesn't turn on all your sound, you have other issues not caused by this rom.
Paul
I hope that clears things up, Because people keep PMing me asking sound works now. I thought the big bold red letters saying sound works would do it.
Halo is a pain if you accidently turn it on

Battery display issue
I am experiencing the same issue with the display of the battery..
As you mentioned that this is a kernel issue, will it be a workaround to flash another kernel or am I wrong ?
Cheers !
BTW : testing the ROM, so only this little glitch noticed for now... SOUND IS WORKING (in case people still do not know...)
My issue with the new build is that nav bar at the bottom is like a centimeter big, no joke. Also the keyboard fcs on boot. Idk if I installed wrong or what, some input would be awesome. Also, question. When installing, it says "installing update". Does that mean we can flash the new builds over the previous ones?

Don't know if this is related, but on my GS3 I installed a 4.2 gapps on a 4.3 CM 10.2 rom and had wonky problems like that. Make sure you are using a 4.3 gapps. Especially F/C keyboard issues. Only problem I am having with this rom is the battery percentage not working.

How about things like VZW Virtual Voicemail? Knock-on/off? QuickRemote?
Those are all nice features and they don't usually carry over to custom ROM's, but I would love it if they did!
Knock on/off? Really the only LG feature I think most would agree is important for the G2.

Probably the most important, but at the same time, VVM is good too. I mean, who the heck wants to dial in to their voicemail and listen to them one at a time like it was 1996? haha

True...but a vast majority use knock on/off almost every time they turn on/off their phone. Instead of VVW, you can just use google voice, works great instead. Without knock on/off I couldnt use a rom on the G2.

You should just use Google voice. It's free and superior to Verizon visual voicemail. As Carbon is CM-based, I bet knock-on works. Quick remote is LG software they likely cannot legally package with the ROM, but you might be able to port it to CM yourself (big maybe there).

All these aosp roms should have knock on, but no Knock off yet.
Quick remote is a no go on aosp, remote app devs don't seem interested and supposedly there's no open api feir it, you have to use lg's list of options and controls. I don't think this would have any way to work on aosp if this is true. Maybe we can port the libraries or reverse engineer it? Can anyone more knowledgeable chine in?

Thanks for this one too, I am one of the ones with GPS issues over on your AICP ROM (what exactly is the difference between the two? Seem very similar is all) Will let you know what happens!

Out of curiosity, what are the selling points on this? I guess what I am asking, is that if this is based on CM10.2, what is added to it on top of that? Not every detail, just the major highlights perhaps?

It's not based on 10.2. I haven't had the chance to flash this one yet, but from my previous device, Carbon offers a lot of features that gives it more customization than CM. Comparable to AICP in features but I have to give an edge to AICP since it was my first aosp build on the G2 Definite;y give it a try though.
