[Q] Trickster Mod - Moto X Q&A

I've started using Trickster Mod on my locked bootloader X. The main reason was to take advantage of the LED function to have it turn on while charging. However, there are a lot of other tools this app provides. I was curious if changing these settings on a stock kernel would help with battery performance. I've read some tutorials and seen screen shots of what one user applied using this app on a custom X kernel. Does anyone use this app on a stock kernel and if so could they recommended any setups they have found useful for battery life? Would really be thankful.

Joining the Bionic Thread - need some input!

Hey everyone, I am picking up a bionic and am very excited to start development on this. I am coming from a thunderbolt and have also done work on the droid 2, droid charge, captivate, and motorola xoom. I will be working on a rom that will optimize motorola's user interface and one that will be as close to AOSP as I possibly can. Before getting started, I would like some user input as to what you all want to see changed, kept, fixed, etc...since I have had minimal time playing with one. I am shelling out $400 for one and am ready to make this phone the best it can be for all users.
thanks in advance for any input on this and can't wait to see what you all come up with!

I'm not sure what types of things are reasonable to request, so take these suggestions with a grain of salt:
1. One touch widget 4G / 3G toggle
2. One touch widget for toggling preconfigured power configurations
3. Configurable one touch widget that kills all non-essential Verizon embedded background processes
4. Greatly improved camera software from another phone or a third party app
5. Many people seem to love single digit percentage increments for battery levels. (stock is 10% increments)

AOSP Camera app (running Liberty now, huge improvement).
Power control widget with 3g/4g. I have multiple paid versions of these and none work.
#3 above, except instead- remove bloat (easier)
CM7 ring lock screen option
badass rom name and bootlogo!

Battery Percentage is pretty easy
Camera app...ill see what I can do, but I will see what I can do...would you prefer the AOSP camera app over the moto app?
super task killer 2011- you can configure what you want killed and then set up the widget
4g/3g widget...I will also see what I can do.

Rom toolbox settings not sticking

I have been driving myself a little nutz... The more I search, the more I feel like a noob! I am trying to find out why none of the settings I make in rom toolbox stick. I heard that the sysclt.conf file has to be "turned on", so that you could edit it directly or with rom toolbox or the like. Can anyone shed any light my way? TIA.
When you say they don't stick do you mean after reboot or immediately after making changes? Also, what settings are you changing? ROM Toolbox has many different tweaks that it can set on boot, and the fix could differ per what you are tweaking. For example, if you are setting CPU frequency it could just be the kernel you're using.

Trickster Mod app

Does anyone use the Trickster Mod app on stock kernel? I have the donate version and i take advantage of the charging LED light. If so what, if any tweaks did you try? I also use the multi core power save tweak set a 2. For anyone that may know, would using titanium backup to convert Trickster Mod to a system app have any advantages?
Doubtful. AFAIK Trickster mod just makes the changes at startup, it doesn't need to run all the time.
BTW I have both enabled, the multi core power saver and mp-decision.
Cool to know it works with the stock kernel. Is there a noticable difference in performance and does it give you better battery life?

It's tough for me to say if it gives better battery life due to a lot of changes in settings, e.g. greenify, app permissions etc working in connection. I will say it doesn't hurt. When my phone is asleep I lose about 1 to 1.5 percent per hour which is okay with me. Performance is fine for my needs. Plus I like the LED feature to know when my phone is charge by the status of the green light without having to psychically unlock the MX and check. But to say how much of a difference is hard to tell without setting everything else back to default and just using Trickster.

[q&a] [rom][m7][sep2014] aicp - 6.0 - kk 4.4.4

Q&A for [ROM][M7][SEP2014] AICP - 6.0 - KK 4.4.4
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I've had this flashed for some time on my M7_UL because it functions so beautifully.
I love it so much that I've forgiven it for making my phone crash 50% of the time when trying to answer a phone call, and at other random times about once a day. Not sure if the newest 7.0 release has fixed that or not.
One feature I'd suggest is enable some sort of default CPU O/C controls and maybe smartassv2.
EDIT: Didn't mean for this to end up in Q&A

Even though the rom now supports wake gestures, the Wake Gestures xposed module doesn't seems to recognize it. It says the kernel doesn't support it or it's not enabled.

You need to flash a kernel that supports wake gestures. Elemental x for example.
Wake gestures are not support in th Stock M7 kernel.
Elemental x is for sense based roms. Not for aosp. And if this rom doesn't support wake gestures, whats this?

The problem still remains the same. I used Elemental x as an example (mainly because I don't know which kernels support wake gestures for aosp roms.)
But the fact remain weather a Rom support wake gestures or not is irrelevant if the kernel running it doesn't support wake gestures they won't work. These gestures are an after market feature for the m7. Only the m8 supports Wake gestures officially.

Currently I'm using dt2w with the AICP's default kernel... So doesn't it means the kernel supports wake gestures?

Looking at the main thread it would appear that wake gestures are a "work in progress" for the kernel with that Rom. :good:

Hi, is it possible to restore the old s2w and s2s behavior? I would love to update to 7.0 but since the new kernel, I can't wake my device when in deepsleep, or it needs 5 or 6 attempts. Can anyone advice me which kernel I need to flash?
What firmware are you guys using with this ROM for the m7_ul? I've got the ATT version and I want to make try to get rid of some freezing issues I've been having.
Andriod L having problem with Gallery Settings
Hey thanks for the ROM. Just flashed it and everything working great except gallery setting for now. I didn't checked all the apps. Just seen few.
Can it be used with multirom?

Now, can somebody give me the apk of the Google Keyboard. It's not available from Play Store in our country. (Don't know what's the latest version and that's why I didn't googled it)
Tethering Issue
This only affects certain carriers. The below fix worked for me.
Do this from ADB shell:
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
and reboot. Tethering will work once again.

Hi guys,
Just flashed latest nightly of lollipop.
Is the kernel included in the zip best for stability and battery time? Or is there an alternative to be recommended?
A few things I noticed :
Performance settings in ROM control leads to an empty screen that allows searching for all control panel items, is that intentional? I expected kernel tweaker?
Can the x pixel battery bar line be added?
Under settings, and screen, I have an advanced settings headline, but nothing below it? http://i.imgur.com/KYJWJP7.png
What is the status of lollipop in terms of mods that are ported? A lot from 4.4.4 is not ported yet, and xposed can't help due to art runtime. I am aware that lollipop is VERY different from kitkat, and I am not nagging about 'when will x and y be here', just a status from HQ about the transition from KK to LP
Does anyone know about customizing the soft keys and enabling logo key? And does the standard kernel support it?
Any way to customize toggles on kitkat?
I got the wrong apn settings from my carrier, but I guess that's their problem (or mine for running an unsupported Android version they probably do not detect correctly)..
Any way to remove carrier text and camera /call shortcuts from lock screen? So far I have found a guy who will mod system ui apk......
All in all lollipop is awesome, and running superb!! :good:
Thanks to all devs for their time and effort :good::good:
Kind Regards

X Pixel battery?
No way to remove those shortcuts still.
No toggles customizations just yet

Battery line at the top of the display. On AICP KK edition it can be 1 to 4 px thick.
Toggles and shortcuts, fair enough
Kernel advice / options?
I miss the Xposed framework, and the rom options for customization, but I will be patient, lollipop is very different from kitkat, and the work being put into this by devs is truly amazing!
I have had a few instant reboots, that's all the problems with this rom so far, and that's really very acceptable

Changing Screen Resolution ?

I love my note 5 too much but i am tried of low battery performace even with 180 debolated apps including touchwiz
And i know the best way to get bettery life is lower resolution.
I am on stock rom and i dont want to use note 7 roms with unsteable usage even these roms have resolution changing feature.
Is there any way to change resolution (NOT DPI) with stock rom rooted or non-rooted. 1080p or 720p
Some people talk about it can changeable with ADB but i have never used it
Can anyone help me about this prob. And is there any good site or title on xda tells how to change resolution step by step with ADB or anything else.

It's possible with ADB (with or without root) but causes FC and crashes in System UI and many stock apps.
Try Naptime for rooted Note5 and enable doze immediately after screen off.. This saved me a lot of battery even with Wifi, Data and GPS always on.
More importantly, turn off the battery percentage. Believe it or not, it was making me paranoid about battery life ad without it on the status-bar, my life is much easier now.
