[MOD] JB 4.3+ | TF701T | Flashable Root Method v2 | Asus Stock 10.26.1.7/18 - Asus Transformer TF701

Need Root on your unlocked TF701T on JB4.3? Here you go!
This file when flashed in CWM will install the files necessary to root any Asus Stock Firmware 10.26.1.7+
Make sure you have prepared by copying the zip file to your internal SD card first.
Please Unlock using the Asus Unlock Tool first found here.
Note installing and running this app will wipe your device and void your warranty.
You can flash CWM 6.0.4.6 using the instructions here.
Website seems to be down but file is here.
To flash a recovery you need to have the fastboot.exe file and cwm recovery.img file in the same folder.
Right click + shift on the folder they are in and choose open command prompt here
Boot into the Bootloader by either booting with the Power and Volume Down Buttons held down until you get the 3 icons or by typing the following into the command prompt.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Then type the following commands to flash the recovery image:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Start the recovery by making sure the RCK icon is highlighted (use volume down to move) and push volume up to select.
If you need to move to the latest bootloader then manually install the WW_10_26_1_18_SDupdate file from the Asus website
In recovery choose install zip - install zip from /sdcard and maneuver to the folder you put the root zip (vol up and down) and select it using power button. Finally reboot when finished.
Say no if CWM prompts you to overwrite the recovery script - important - it won't work other wise.

Update the OP with a better method. This will work on any Asus kernel / firmware and doesn't need a special one flashed

Even better  nicely done

Does this do a Factory Reset (like the other root methods I've seen), or will all installed apps still be there when finished?

Well if you are unlocking the device then it will reset, but if you are already unlocked then no it won't reset. It flashes Superuser.apk, su binary and an enable-root.sh shell script to run the su daemon on boot

Exactly the answer I was hoping for. Thanks. :good:

Updated the first thread as you have to be on the latest cwm which requires jb4.3. Although it should work on jb4.2.2 compatible recoveries as well, I just haven't tested that.

Hello, is there any way to install recovery and to root without using a PC?

Not on the TF701 no. I couldn't make a flashable zip unfortunately due to changes Asus made.

The availability of this method convinced me to finally unlock my tablet. (That, and the fact that after a month I was satisfied that my 2013.10 dock and tablet were working properly.)
Method used successfully, gratitude to sdbags.

I suspect that -- in spite of what Asus and many on this board have said -- the majority of units have not been defective, including those that were made both before and after the 2013.11 batch that was supposed to be "fixed." In other words, there were good units made before the "fix", and some defective units that were made after. There was probably some change made that _lowered_ the defect rate, but that is irrelevant if you happened to get a good unit.
Well, I shouldn't say irrelevant, because all those defective units have harmed Asus' reputation and probably killed off a lot of developer enthusiasm for the TF701, thus hurting even those of us with non-defective units...

[ROOT]The FLASHABLE zip file for ROOTing Atrix 2.3.4 HKTW

Hi, after test for some times, i made the flashable root package for 2.3.4 (That the device has flash the leaked HKTW 2.3.4 and unlocked the device)
NOTE:
Unlocked Atrix 4G with HKTW 2.3.4
Please flash the CWM recovery first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
You should have a external sd card in your device, because the recovery cann't recognize the internal card

PLEASE download from the attachment, I'm really sorry that my site was down.
I think all of you know how to flash zip from recovery, so I'll not give hint about this, LOL

Hey, so, I ran into a slight problem.. It doesnt actually root the phone... Or so I've found. What happened to me is it worked perfectly, flashed via new cwm nicely, and I had SU in app drawer. I then decided to try and restore my apps via TB, and it doesnt let me batch anything, see anything, etc. It's like I don't have root. Then I tried getting root explorer and it FC's on opening the app. WTF?

This is because you didn't read my post carefully. You should have a EXTERNAL SDCARD in your device first! Because the recovery cann't mount the internal sdcard.

There is another way to check whether the root of your device work or not.
Run cmd in Windows or terminal in Linux.
execute the following cmd:
Code:
adb shell
su -
After you input the "su -" cmd, you should have a dialog to allow root access in your device. I.e, the root works. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
BTW, does your device unlocked and flash the HKTW android 2.3.4 rom?

TOO bad, the zip file should be flashed as the normal way to flash rom.
GOTO recovery then choose this zip file to flash.
BTW, you should copy the zip file to the external sdcard first!

thanks for reply brother
easiest way is to get ROM Manger from market and flash CWM that way.
I would stay away from CWM 3.0 since it's known to cause problems.

Yeah you can't install custom recovery till you root first.
Read the WIKI on rooting
If you have unlocked your bootloader (I think that is what you said earlier?), then just flash recovery via fastboot like the wiki says...
What part are you struggling with? Are you getting any error messages?

I think you are just copying the command verbatim.
When it says /path/to/recovery.img it literally means wherever you have saved that file on your computer. In windows, it could very much look like
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "c:\user\john doe\Downloads\clockworkmod\recovery.img"
Keep in mind, if you are using windows, if the location has any spaces in it, it requires quotes around the whole thing.

Galaxy Nexus sounds for Nexus S (Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean ROMS)

It seems Nexus S is still stuck on the old Gingerbread sound set.. this was annoying enough to release these zips that replace the annoyingly old sounds with the latest and greatest.
Here are recovery zips that removes the current /system/media/audio folder and installs the one from the Galaxy Nexus.

It is a unsigned zip so you need clockwork mod recovery.
But don't worry you can USB boot it via "fastboot boot " (of course with the cwm image in same folder as fastboot or fast boot in path).

Ok, my actual ICS is the one from here (google server I guess).
But maybe I'm doing it the wrong way. IDK.
here is how it goes:
in cmd windows prompt
c:\Android\android-sdk\tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
blablabla device
OK
c:\Android\android-sdk\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery5020.img
sending 'recovery' <4136KB>
OKAY [ 0.546s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [0.515s]
finished. total time: 1.061s
OK
into bootlader I choose recovery then press power :
boot into recovery 5.0.2.0.
- wipe Dalvik/cache
- install zip from SD Card
- choose a zip to apply
gnex-sounds.zip (renamed your zip)
then reply:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Updating system sounds...
Deleting current sound set...
Installing Galaxy Nexus sound set...
Install from sdcard complete.
- ***** go back *****
- reboot system now.
... Then on the phone in settings audio I still got my current sound set (set up earlier).
but I can also do it the old ways (extract sounds from your zip and replace the set in the ics.zip I'll flash over...).
But I got to find out what's wrong. In the ICS Official release thread we were talking about apparently you can flash the recovery permanently isn't it ? Mine is not accessible the next try I made (ADB/USB out) mean I get back to the stock recovery (with the poor green droid down, belly opened ! lol).
Another (secondary) question : what's wrong with superuser ? My apps can't be allowed since apparently my phone is not recognized as rooted ! (Just to ensure I've performed a "fastboot oem unlock" but the reply was explicit : "already unlocked !". I don't get it right here...

1. Odd that the sounds wont flash
2. ChainsDD updated Superuser/su for 4.0.3
3. yep a file in stock rom rewrites stock recovery at bootup
Over all if you give my custom rooted 4.0.3 stock a shot that would solve the sounds issue, wouldnt rewrite recovery on boot, has working root and as bonus has H icon.
I personally went that method cause it got me best of all options in one flash

[Q] No OS on phone

So, like an absolute idiot I wiped /system without a proper ROM zip on my device and I'm stuck with no OS on my device. I asked for Drive access to the KK factory image from Motorola, am I heading in the correct path for success? Does someone already have the KK image that they could provide for me? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yeah your on the right path I did the same thing once
Once you get the factory image, you'll use fastboot to flash the files with the instructions Moto provides. You'll be fine.
Do u still have a custom recovery installed? You can put the to custom ROM zip on the flash drive or SD card and plug in an otg cable to the phone and you should be able to flash the ROM from there. Or you can do adb sideload from the recovery

Did something very similar to this. Used SolarTrans' guide as Motorola never sent me the factory image. Installed the OTA from the phone itself and then flashed the 5.1 OTA and I'm good to go. You guys are the kind who keep these forums great!

This is exactly what I did to fix the exact same issue. Essentially soft bricked my phone 17 hours after receiving it from Motorola [emoji27] but this got me back on my feet and I've been running lollipop on a rooted XT1095 with no issues for 6 months [emoji106]

[LG-H901] Stock ROM, Rooted, with Busybox

Thanks to Mikeyinid and TheJesus for providing the stock img files and flashable recovery zip. I used them more than once on my own device, and got frustrated at having to re-root it every time. To speed things up I decided to create a pre-rooted zip with busybox installed.
Feel free to use it as you see fit. If you format /system before you install this TWRP will warn you that there is no OS installed, but it's wrong, it will boot.

Flash this via TWRP, no wipe should be needed, but it can't hurt.

Almost stock? Are you saying this only because it has root and busybox? It does not overwrite recovery, correct?

Almost stock? Are you saying this only because it has root and busybox? It does not overwrite recovery, correct?

yes, exactly. I'm just trying to be clear that it is not completely stock because there have been additional files added to the system image. It will not overwrite recovery, only reflash the system and boot partitions.

This is for the h901 which is the Tmo variant just fyi. So yeah you are good.
WiFi calling works fine. The only thing that breaks it sort off is installing xposed and that only breaks it if you don't have LTE at all. If at home you can use WiFi but it has to see LTE signal as well. If you are In. area with no LTE or if airlane mode on with just WiFi on it wont work.

You have to unlock your bootloader first by sending commands over adb after booting into fastboot then you'll have to download the twrp file and flash that over the stock recovery using adb again

just follow this link style right ?
Here is the link to the bootloader unlock/recovery/root thread.

I didn't use the nexus kit, I just installed the adb and fastboot drivers manually. Instructions are in the link I pasted. When installing the drivers, install them system wide, makes it a little easier. Also, download drivers for LG G4.
