sony smartwatch - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey
hello everyone.... i have a sony xperia z (purple) 4glte running on stock 4.2 im planning to buy a sony smartwatch 1 beacuse its cheap and easly to deattached....
my question is... would be the sony smartwatch 1 will have no issues if my xperia z will be updated on 4.3 and on the coming 4.4?
because ive hear'd and ive read some info's after updated to 4.3 there are to many issues on the smart watch wich having conflicts....
any idea... need advice before buying the watch... tnx....

Judging by comments on forums, it would be a risk to buy the Sw2 before 4.3 gets updated further. My suggestion is to wait for the next smartwatch. My mate bought the Sw2 and returned it because it was crappy..

I have xperia z running 4.3 and the smartwatch sw2 i have no issues. :victory:
Except one- the smartconnect use over 300mb of ram on 4.3 so that leave me only 450mb free ram.

what im asking is smart watch 1 because its big cheaper than the two... and i like the "clip thing"
but my concern is i dont know if it is good on a 4.2-4.3 xperia z... which i own 2weeks ago...
is it good though for its cheap?

Hmm, that's strange - there's a lot of people in these forums (me included) that have huge Wi-FI problems when sw2 is connected.
Wi-Fi just din't work when sw2 is connected though Bluetooth. You're running official 4.3 version, or modified one?
What's you're Z model?
Thanks.

wew... can some one help me... is the cheap sw1 is good for a xperia z lte 4g? 4.2 and 4.3 or for the upcmng 4.4?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app

get the sw1 , if you don't like it just return it and get your money back.
Or if you get it unofficial , ask for a day or two for testing purposes.

What is your Z model? Mine is C6603 (also unrooted ) and its impossible to have sw2 connected and have wifi. It just cuts off all wifi connections. When I turn bluetooth off , everything works fine. So disappointed from sony about this , i wish i hadnt updated to 4.3 so soon.

[Q] [Xperia V] To buy or not to buy

Hi everyone,
For months I am eagerly waiting for the Xperia V to be released in France (it will be this week, with JB on board). But this morning I found a review from a quite serious blog (in French) and it sort of discouraged me :
- They had major 3G connectivity issues, which is a huge turn-off for me
- They say the screen is not that great after all (too yellow-ish, despite BRAVIAEngine 2)
- They found lots of non-uninstallable bloatware (Adobe Reader, McAfee, some games, etc.)
- They found lots of bugs (camera focus, SOD when using GPS and music player), despite the JB ROM !
Now I'm wavering :
- Is this Xperia V a good choice ? From what I can read on XDA forums, owners of this V seem happy with their choice, but for example, has someone experienced any 3G connectivity issues since the JB upgrade ? Are the other bugs really annoying ?
- I was planning to wait a few months before getting rid of Sony software and get CyanogenMod on this Xperia V ; now that I see the bugs I want to get CM as soon as possible, but is it safe to avoid the warranty of a smartphone right after spending €500 for it ?
- In a nutshell : is the Xperia V a good choice ? (I want a phone that runs JB smoothly on a minimum-300dpi screen, with a micro-SD slot, a removable battery, LTE-compliant, and that I can handle with one of my small hands )
Thanks to anyone who can help me decide whether to buy it or not...

The points you list at the end overlap quite a bit with my criteria for picking the V, and I don't regret it at all. I was hoping Sony would push this model more than they have and that it would get strong sales so that "smaller" phones might not end up in a low-spec ghetto. Anyway, to address your points:
- The 3G connectivity issues may very well have to do with the network settings being set by default to connect to LTE. I had major issues until I changed the settings (my contract doesn't include LTE). Since then, no problems. If the review unit had this setting on, that's probably what happened.
- The display quality seems ok to me. This isn't honestly that huge a thing for me, so maybe somebody else has a stronger opinion on it than I do.
- There's no such thing as "uninstallable" . There is a (somewhat complicated) method for rooting the V without unlocking the bootloader, so as not to void your warranty. I didn't have any of the bloatware that you listed on mine, so it must be carrier-added bloat. I'm new to Xperia and I unlocked mine after about a week, so I may be wrong about this, but I think you can flash .ftf's with a locked bootloader, and just use a generic version of the firmware and voilà - no more bloat!
- I've never had a SOD. The only bug I've dealt with since upgrading to JB is long pauses between tracks when using the Walkman app. Admittedly a pretty big deal for me, I can only hope that since "Walkman" is pretty much synonymous with "Sony", they'll get this one sorted sooner rather than later.
Satisfied with everything except for the battery consumption while on data. Came from Galaxy Nexus. I leave data on for the whole day with my Nexus and it lasts. With this Xperia V, i turn off the data and switch to GSM when not in use.

Carriers are well-known to add in lots of bloatwares. Nothing to do with the phone. But currently there's no working version of CM10.1 (JB 4.2.x), though.
The FreeXperiaProject are on it, albeit not high in their priority list.
Those who tested the current testing version of CM10.1 reported that the ROM is too damn smooth. xD
So for us to have a working version of CM10.1, it will take some time...
Disclaimer: I don't personally own a V, but a T instead.
- Among all the phones I have used, I personally haven't ran into any phone with connectivity issue. Most of the times, it's due to either telco bad signals or half-baked ported roms (i.e. CM10.1), which is probably the less of your concern. However, I heard that V was equipped with 4G (whereas T was not), so you might want to explore this more.
- V screen is far superior compared to T (and maybe Z as well), according to comparison videos and videos I have seen so far. I'd love to have the V display screen.
- From what I saw, V and T shared the same bloatwares. Most of the bloatwares on T are Sony media connection utilities, which are not that annoying. EA Games, OfficeSuite and other stuff I don't really use can be deleted. Coming from a Nexus, I'm surprised that bloatwares did not annoy me at all.
- T suffers from a Walkman bug, that's all. I'm not sure about V.
Yes, you should buy it. It's the only phone with 720p resolution and ergonomic screen size, yet maintain a decent performance, and better yet, an SDCard slot.

Personally I love my Xperia V, there is no phone I would have rather bought. Well maybe Z. It just feels awesome in my hands, looks awesome, is really snappy, the camera is a beast in my opinion and the waterproofig is a plus too.
There are some disadvantages of course, the main one being the lack of developers. I know, I shouldn't "whine" about it, they do it for free and because they want to and I should start deving my self if I'm not satisfied. But I won't. Coming from HTC Desire I was a bit disappointed (shouldn't use that word) to see the lack of roms and mods etc. The battery is a bit too small too, I thought that smartphones would last longer nowadays, but nah, it's a minor upgrade to HTC Desire for example.
Another problem is that my phone seemed a bit bugged right out of the box, orientation sensor would sometimes get stuck and not rotate the screen. I took it to Sony care, let's see what they can do about it. Probably nothing, since the it happens very randomly.

I loved my old HTC Desire. What a great phone it was.
I'm hoping to buy an Xperia V this weekend, too. I'm worried about battery life; has anyone bought an extended one?
I'm using an Xperia V, and I have rooted, added cwm, debloat the wares, still locked bootloader.
I heard that V have two kinds of screen too. And my screen's black color is truly black, not gray like T .
I've tested a film on my phone and my laptop, I just have to say that BE2 is great, it enhances the colors on the film, which is very nice, I've made a comparison with my friend's Xperia T, the BE2 sometimes enhances the colors too much which makes it a little bit unreal, but to tell the truth, most of the time, it makes u feel that the image is greater than the original xD
I'm from Vietnam, we only have 3G. But the connection speed is great, it doesn't take me long to download apps from Play Store . I think it may depends on your signal and the network provider speed . Cuz it depends in my country, if you have full signal, you will got speed around 6-7.2 mbps, but I usually got around 3-5mbps .
About Sony apps, Walkman has some bugs with playing, soon it will be fixed. SoD appears suddenly, I don't know if it just with GPS ). But this is a serious problem, it will be fixed soon either. And about the camera, I myself love the main camera with it's great speed of shoot, but the front camera sucks :|, I love the front camera of Xperia S more
One little thing I want to say that I love the water proof of this phone ). My friends' iPhone can't do that, and that's the way I troll them with my Xperia
Thank you all for your feedbacks, just bought my Xperia V this morning for €429 (great deal on Sony France e-shop, due to the loooong wait) !
I'll receive it next week, will root it as soon as possible to get rid of bloatware, change the networking settings since my contract isn't 4G, and wait for CM 10.1
I'm eagerly waiting for Xperia SP, or should I buy this Xperia V?
Plus of Xperia V : water/dust resistant, 13 MP camera
Plus of Xperia SP : bigger screen and battery capacity, higher CPU and GPU
Any suggestions?

Buy the SP. The V's flaps will soon fall out. Mine is already sticking out. If you want a waterproof one get the Z as they use a different and stronger material for their flaps. However if you're on a budget get the SP. It's high CPU ans GPU makes up for not having waterproof.

There are two things I hate about the Xperia V: 1) Disappointing battery performance on data connection (WiFi is significantly better), 2) Lack of development.

The LED strip and GPU is good. I mean it has an old processor but it's 1.7Ghz Dual Core. It's fine for me. It's also faster than the V. I have the V and overtime you'll lose water resistance as the flaps will fall off. Mine is already sticking out.

How long did it take for the flaps to fall out ? I have mine for 3 weeks now and despite the fact that they feel a bit fragile, I think if I take care of them they will hold on...
I am really fond of my V, it feels great in the hand, it is quite smooth, the battery life is acceptable, the camera is pretty good, and I dropped a pint of beer on it without any damage !

[Q] Xperia T worth buying now?

My last phone was a Xperia Arc (loved it, only issue was low RAM), I lost it and now I need a replacement. I need a cheap android WITH MHL or HDMI port. I came across Xperia T for 240€, which is good enough for me. I know every phone has its issues, so I ask you if you think this would be a good choice. Im suprised at how "cheap" it is with such a fancy camera and other specs (which I dont really need), but I cant find a decent phone that has TV-OUT within this price range.

I suggest taking the Xperia V. It's a little smaller (an advantage imo) and waterproof ^^
By the way it also has LTE support, if that matters for your region

Internals are almost identical, but...
Xperia V is waterproof, and is smaller, and is having removable battery.
Xperia T is having bigger display, is better looking (this is subjective of course), and is having doubled internal memory.
Comparing them side by side...
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4958&idPhone2=4899
...you'll notice that Xperia V appears to be slightly taller and thinner, and this is where Xperia T gets my voice for being prettier.
They are actually the same height, but V is 2,3mm thinner, and bezels appear bigger.
I was in the same dilemma three months ago, when I sold my Xperia Arc S, and I chose Xperia T, and honestly, I love this phone.
It's sexy, nicely built, and Jelly Bean is working quite good out of the box. This is the first phone that I haven't armed with some custom ROM.
It all comes down to personal taste really, when choosing between T and V. Some will say V, some will say T.
I say check some reviews, some videos, and make your own decision. Never ask for suggestion on public forums.

Im in Germany, and the XT is some sort of a really cheap nice deal, and its not same prized like the XZ. You pay nearly 100euro more for the XZ
You can get the XT round about 230euro +/-
But whatever, best argument for the XT is the look and feel and the displaysize-hardwaresize relation, better than on the XV.
And we have omnirom support, another good argument, if you like flashing custom roms

(For Indians) Is it safe to buy Sony Xperia Z from ebay india with 1 seller warranty?

Well i am thinking for buying Xperia Z from ebay india for INR.23364($377) and its very cheap as it comes with 1 year seller warranty for both hardware & software...while original price of Xperia Z with Sony Warranty is - INR.28-29,000 ($460)
almost difference of INR 5,000($83)
I need your advices if i should go with it or not as its with seller warranty..is it reliable ?
Seller shabbeerhf1 (a POWER SELLER) is however is good with 99.4% positive feedback with more than 12271 feedback and i have seen its listings of imported sony smartphones from pst 1.5 years and he is sellings cheap and also may pieces Sold by him i.e. about 200 or sometimes 300 too
He is selling other Sony smartphones at cheap rates with same 1 year seller warranty liek Xperia Sp, Xperia M , Xperia ZR etc.
and its states the phone will be box packed brand new sealed .

I have earlier also bought Xperia Neo V with 1 year seller warranty for about 13k earlier and between 3-4 days it becomes dead so i send him back and i get a new replacement which is still running cool and almost 1.3 years old..
no problem at all...
But i am confused with Xperia Z from this seller..
also if
1) Xperia Z is good and reliable phone will run cools without any hardware problem within 1 year ?
I can fix Software problem myself...
If Xperia Z is good phone with this price ??
2) Is its processor is good as Snapdragon 400 which is found it in Moto G & Galaxy grand 2 ??
as its antutu scores have little differences almost b/w 18,000 to 20,000..
3) I have also emailed him and ask for replacement and he said it wll have 3 days replacement warranty for Defects such as Dead and after that period only service will be given.. So is it fine ??
4) if anybody have bought any item or same Xperia Z from this seller then can you tell me about your experience ?
5) If there is any kind of problem with Xperia Z which has occurred to you guys within 1 year or is it still fine like memory bug in Samsung galaxy phones such as S2,S3,Note ,Note2 etc which lead to totally dead phone and costs huge bucks to replace motherboard ??
6) I will just Root this phone and use stock ROM+KERNEL , so no any modifications which will lead to any risks or any mistake which will create any defect in the phone itself ..
Need your advice guys..
Thanks in Advance.
No one ??
Seriously ... I mean no one knows about this thing ??

Yeah its a good price for the xperia z i have been using this phone since an year and havent encountered any problems
Regarding being future proof, sony has announced that we will get 4.4 update in may , which is the latest android version, so yeah its futureproof
And in this price range you can also look at the Motorola moto x as that's a really nice phone with features like active display, active voice commands , it costs around 25k

How do you know 4.4 will be the last update? sony has not officially confirmed this, hell even no new version of android has arrived after 4.4
Yeah i know moto x has the same chipses as Xperia sp but it has other processors for thing like voice activation and all other stuff so it's processor is not taxed that much .I have also used the moto x and dont find any differnece between the speed of xperia z and it

Well if we see back of Sony or even Samsung update schedule , you will come to know that after launch they provide maximum of 3-4 updates.
4.4 will be 3rd update... SO let's see if 5.0 will be arrive on Xperia Z or not... But i don't think it'll be..
And ya .. Moto X has separate processor for 2 other different things but for multitasking and all this stuff there is only 2 cores i.e same as SP so yeah both will be same in terms of processing power except 2GB ram it has....

well sony has not confirmed this yeat so no point in speculating and even if they dont give updates after 4.4 there is always the option of getting a custom rom , xperia z has very good developer support

Yeah ! Not sure of official updates after 4.4
but Custom ROM's will be always available...
I have to think about official ones because after official updates are released then custom ROM's based on them are ought to be less buggy and smooth as compare to ported ROM's..

If you just want an android phone, look at samsung or lg.
If you want Xperia now, go get t2 ultra, its screen is better, front cam is better, and runs 4.4.2 (same as ZR), and can app2sd.
The only situation when I will recommend this phone (again, in 09/2014) is the fact that it can switch batteries.

First of all, thanks
I want a phone not more expensive than this phone. I checked for T2 ultra. It's cpu, gpu, memory is lower than ZR
I just wanted to know if ZR devices have any particular problem? does it get new updates?
Thanks

Yes, the specs are slightly lower classed, but the ability to app2sd sort of nailed it.
As for update, for ZR, after the planned 4.4.4, I highly doubt 5.0 will ever come.
A very good phone

about apps2sd i use foldermount and this is not a problem for me
the only thing is, that sony released a lot of updates to it and we might not see android L but android 4.4.4 is just days away

Price/Performance: I get around 33U$ I still find it worth the price, now some shop in my country was down price to 26U$.
Water-Resistance: I found it easier to clean, Use when you go to bathroom etc.
Prime camera: The main reason I'm still use Sony... Even an after-sales service suck so bad in my country.

Price/Performance: Some phone have cheaper price with nearly performance: like Moto G, Xiaomi etc.
Water-Resistance port-cap: I found sometime it made me annoy to open, which quite difficult on this model(I'm use Xp Acro S before, it whole lot easier)
Front Camera: yeah let have VGA front cam... which can only find in a phone below 20 U$ (except from sony lol)
Speaker sound: Since it on the back of the phone you barely hear it clear or loud... except you turn it around, turn a volume up or used you hand to redirect a sound.
Internal Storage: 8GB.... while system eat up nearly 3GB. and no way to move app to SD card without a root.
And some rumor I heard was All Z series will have Android L for sure.

Congrats all of Z series owner.
The other series are not going to have it.

Still no more trust worthly source talk about this yet.
Cons: You pay extra for the xperia brand, get a Xiaomi or Oppo etc. if you dont care about waterproofing etc.
Pros: ITS WATERPROOF. Also its exactly the right size for a phone IMO.
Totally worth it.

Don't get your hope up. It's very likely that Z1 will stay with 5.1.1. Sony said nothing about M for Z1 series (unlike Z2, Z3 series got confirmation) so indeed there might be a tiny chance Z1 series will get M but like I said, it's just a tiny chance.
Here in Serbia this cellphone is not cheap, its expensive. And its a dump idea to stop suporting. Its my think....

It's not matter of price, it's old and I think the phones that are people still buying are already made and just from big stocks. Our phone is almost 3 years old, really (I'm angry too, my phone is just 4 months old, but what can we do.. )

Eh it's still expensive like right now? If so then wow. In my country, you can buy Z1 as cheap as a low mid-range phone. (Sony pricing strategy really does suck)
Like others said Z1 is old and passed the 18 months promised support time from Sony. Yet we still receive bug fix and enhancement firmware like recent 236. I think we should be graceful for that since it's way better than other equivalent from other brands. Have you seen any Snapdragon 800 phone got M yet?
Also I don't know why many of you think not getting M is a stop support from Sony while we still indeed receive newer firmware build on 5.1.1. I think support means in the end you get the stable stuff not the newest one. Otherwise, after M people will demand N then O then P etc. for Z1 just for the sake that Z1 may have the spec to run it. And let's face it: even if Sony want to, they probably don't have enough resource to support Z1 (not with their current financial status). Supporting Z1 bring no benefit to Sony.
One more thing: if you look at the Z1 Update History on PTCRB, you'll see Sony did a fantastic job supporting this phone up until now. And even if we, by any chance, got the M, I'm sure it will feel like nothing because we won't get any new features (those are saved for latter Z series) - not to mention a new base firmware potentially bring lots of bugs.
==> I myself would be happy if they just provide me a super polished 5.1.1 firmware with no bugs at all.
How mutch cost z1 and z2 in your country?

The cheapest Z1 right now is around $175 and Z2 is about $250 I think. Xperia's pricing in my country is very unstable. It's usually start off really expensive then drop sharply just after a short time.
Oh here is the PTCRB link in case you're wondering.
https://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=24328
well.. even Hammerhead can have 6.0, so why Honami cant?
Its like that in most countries. Start of expensive and declines rapidly.
Here its also about the same price in USD. Since they produce every 6 months, a rather sharp price drop is expected.
I did see a list of supported updates and z1 wasn't one of them to get M
Z2 however, was

Unlikely that we will see marshmallow, the phone is really quite old now. I guess it's possible if a Dev can get it fully working, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Not such a big deal though, Lolipop is working pretty much perfectly on my z1
