Can't Send MMS - Please help! - Moto X Q&A

On T-Mobile... When someone receives my picture message, they receive a message instead of picture that says that the media is too large, etc. All of my other phones automatically downsize the picture to mms size. Does the Moto X not do this? Thanks.

There has been a previous documentation of this error where the hangouts or default messaging app won't resize if you don't use the attachment button in the message composition window

I think you are having the same problem as described in this thread.
So what's the work around? Always send by using the attachment button in the messaging app? Using the share via mms button in the gallery doesn't work?

Thanks for the info. Weird... Is this an android or motorola issue.?

The error occurred again and I tried sending directly from the gallery and by pressing the attachment button in the messaging app. Both failed and the receiver got the error message.
Any other ideas on what to try?

If you're using the default messaging app, try hangouts. I did and it worked but I didn't really like the app so I'm using 8sms instead.

I wonder if the update to fix data and MMS problems on AIO would help with this mms problem.

Nope. The problem still happens even after updating to 4.4.2.

@_Arjen_ Not sure if this is right way to go about this but can you combine these this thread and the one below? they both address the same issue about MMS not compressing properly. I just wanna help clean all the duplicate threads going around here!

EDIT***
I found 1 more threads with the same compression issue using the stock app.

@TeeJay3800 @ApriliaM3 @Tijmen @wedgess Hi referring to my above post, could one of you guys combine the threads?? thanks in advance!

MMS Issue

Im using rooted 2.1 HTC HERO /w Aloysius 2.1_SnowOC Maps & Handcent.
I try to send a MMS Message (Picture Message) and it just keeps sending, nothing ever happens it just sits there trying to send until i delete the message and nothing get's sent.
Has anyone had this issue?
Could anyone help me with this problem?
Handcent has issues sending MMS. It's hit or (often) miss. If you need to send a MMS, just send it using the stock app and then switch to handcent for SMS and receiving MMS.
Thanks. I'll try sending via the message app. But isn't that bug where when you send via message app the phone doesn't sleep come into play?

That bug was fixed back in 2009, I don't believe it keeps it awake any longer.
really? I Don't see why I'm using handcent than, I only got Handcent for this issue, are you sure this was resolved?
I use the stock messaging app solely, and I have had no issues with 100% awake time. I send and receive picture messages all the time.
Oh, Looks Like I'll be switching back to the normal messaging app if thats the case.

Are you on Froyo? If so, have you Tried the Froyo MMS Fix? Download it here. It may work.

Issue on Skype (missing send button)

Hi all,
I try to find some similar issues, but I don't.
I have the latest version of Skype for Android on my HTC One. But I cannot use the chat with smartphone in landscape mode. When I write a message the send button is hidden and if I click "Enter" it goes on a new line, do not send the message. The only way I have to send the message is to rotate again the smartphone, send button appear, so I can click it.
Is there someone else who have the same problem? Are there any action to solve it or some workaround?
Many thanks,
Rk
I can't replicate your problem. I get a send button both where it's supposed to be as well as in the pop-up text entry box. I did have problems with it staying connected so I have recently cleared data for it multiple times -maybe that fixed it.

Unable to send message after multiple attempts

I am running HD Revolution 71.1 on my M7 and can send text messages but if I attach a photo (selfie in this case) I get an error 'Unable to send message after multiple attempts'. This is the first time I have actually tried to use the phone for this function.
I am on Three in the UK and checked the APN MMS settings and they all seem correct. I can send text messages just not attached photos.

are you using any ads blocking software i.e. Adblock plus? These apps are known to also block MMS messages.

I am using AdFree. I tried disabling it, clearing the data and rebooting but still no go (unless it left something in the hosts file?).

Could try a dirty flash after the disable just to verify. All else fails, run a logcat while sending one and see what it throws out there.

I just spoke to Three. It's because I have a cap on my usage and picture messaging is charged at 35p each.I guess I will just have to find other methods to send the image.

SMS issue with Google message app

Hi all,
I have a strange issue that I cannot solve.
I am using the Samsung standard messaging app and all is working perfect.
I wanted to test the Google messaging app so I installed next to the Standard Samsung one.
The problem is that in the Google app not all messages are showing. It is random and has nothing to do with people having Iphone or not.
And not all messages of the same threat are not showing up. Some do and some don't.
If I open the Samsung app all are present???
Any idea what the problem is?
Thank you
Maybe some of the messages in the samsung app are probably enhanced messages, meaning they were sent as data like an imessage. So when Google messages looks at your list of sms, it doesn't see those

Ok, I understand. But I thought that Google message had also enhanced messaging. Or am I wrong?
And how could I solve this?
Thank you in advance

Did you enable and register enhanced messaging service for Android messaging? Failing that try this. View attachment 4617783
