Never buy from CHINAPADMALL.COM!!! - Off-topic

Hi guys,
On May 2013, I've ordered UMI X2 from chinapadmall for €237.8 (=
323.39 USD). Actually first I ordered it from Pandawill (great website, great service) but I canceled the order because one day later I saw on CHINAPADMALL.COM "UMI X2 Turbo version" (With MTK6589T instead of MTK6589) and ordered from there. Of course CHINAPADMALL.COM lied to let people like me buy from them. There was actually no Turbo version available at that time.
Two months later I received standard version of UMI X2 (not the Turbo version of course) with defects: screen had bright annoying dot on it and I couldn’t transfer data from phone to pc, and contacted CHINAPADMALL to inform them about defects and asked what to do next. They told me to send the device back for replacement. They wouldn’t return my money back. So I had no other choice and did what they said. (paid:
25+ EURO = (34 USD) to send it back)
Two months later, package was arrived to their local post office. I sent a lot of e-mails to CHINAPADMALL to inform them about arrived package and to ask them to go and pick it up, but they never did. Post office could also not deliver the package. After two unsuccessful deliveries, China Post decided to ship the package back to me. In november 2013, I recieved the package. Then I contacted CHINAPADMALL again to let them know that I was disapointed (like they gave a **** about my disappointment) about their customer service and that I have to send it to them for the second time if they are going to be more responsible. They said that I can send it for the second time if I would like to. So I paid again 25+ EURO's (34 USD) to send it.
Package arrived this month (2014) at their local post office.
When I saw that on tracking website, I sent e-mail to CHINAPADMALL to inform them and to tell them to be more responsible this time. They told me that they will pick it up as soon as they can.
Luckily, few days later they had the package.
In total I lost +- 390 USD (+- 290 EUR) and more than 7 months time, and didn't use the device once. Now for that money I could buy octa-core phone or one of the best branded powerfull smartphones from trusted Chinese stores.
I’m still asking CHINAPADMALL to refund my money or send me a new phone, but they are not responding to it. Only yesterday they said short:
“If we replace new device for you, then how to do with this old device. We can not re-sell it after repaired it.”
Normaly, if you buy a product from somewere, and product is broken or whatever, you bring it back to the shop where you bought it within one week or 14 days and get your money back or get replaced gadget. That is exactly what I did, I sent it within few days back to them. Which seller is going to say something like: ‘What the hell I’m supposed to with broken device’? NOT A SINGLE SHOP WILL SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT. But CHINAPADMALL did.
You can read on their website below on the page ‘Guarantee policy’:
5) How about the refund policy?
Second, For the problems caused by Chinapadmall, We will issue a complete or partial refund for the items if the clients do not agree on replacement or repairing. The problems include quality problem, mal function or miss delivery.......Please be noticed that all Chinapadmall products have 7 days return period (from client receiving the package to the client returning us) before being non-eligible for complete or partial refund. Please contact our customer service or live Support as soon as you find any problem after you receiving the products to avoid any postpone of better solution.
That’s exactly what I did. But they don’t give a **** about customers. Refunding?? They will not even talk about refunding. They don't even want to replace the device even they claimed to do it before, in their e-mails.
So what they have written there is just bull****. They don't want to respond to my e-mails with good arguments. Because they know that they can’t answer.
I want my money back because I never used this phone, or I want to chose for the price I paid other smartphone from their website.
Today I got e-mail that, they sent broken UMI X2 to factory to fix it. Again, I don't want fixed old phone. I had never chance to use it because It was traveling the world for 6-7 months. Even if I had, device is defect from the box.
So dear friends, NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM LIARS AND CHEATERS, FROM CHINAPADMALL(.)COM !!!
If you receive defect product from them, you will never be able to replace it and you will never be able to get your money back. Be informed.
Sorry for my bad English, but I think you'll understand my message.
And I would be very thankful if somebody can help me to get my money back..

Wow, sorry man. Was a working device finally sent to you??
I also ordered my UMI X2 through chinapadmall. My "gorilla glass" is now broken, and my GPS and 3G are faulty, but I think that these issues are UMI X2-related issues...

Dear friends... Never ever buy a Chinese smartphone in the first place.

Issues with fastcardtech

Hi to all,
I want to share with you what appened last month with fastcardtech site... I already bought a zopo zp100 and I was really satisfy about service so I decide to bought a new one but white.
Reading internet site I saw that two models are available but I was interested only in the completely white one so I ask availability at support center of fastcardtech that confirm by mail the availability.
After two day I release the payment and in a week the phone was shipped.
Where is the problem? The phone received was the other one.
After 1 month they could give me a 3% discount (6USD due to account limitation) on next order that I'll never do cause It's not sure what they will ship.
I didn't report all the mail between us where they wanted to refund (6USD) and after 2 weeks no paiment was released so I asked and they wrote back to call support center...
I'm writing this post cause the site is really cheapest but pay attention cause if there is a problem you'll not have support... In some case you feel victim of a joke...
Bye.
P.S. attacched the chat transcript for all the detail
Sorry for what happened
i faced the same problem they listed a phone with high specification at a high price yet it was just specifications hacked in kernel the phone was not of quality as it was priced i bought it at USD 295 yet other phones of exact spec without hacking kernels were at USD 165 so if you are buying online its better you buy from sites with payments protections like escrow of aliexpress as the product i bought there was real coz it had to wait for my confirmation the payments to be made which force the sellers to be sure of what they are doing.
In fact the item was shipped with very low prices i never requested for which led me to be over taxed as the tax authority had to do it by themselves.
Do NOT FALL VICTIM
THIS WEBSITE>>>fastcardtech.com<<<<<< is BY FAR the most corrupt CHEAP CHINA CELLPHONE website to deal with. i have read and others have complains for same problems (just google it )
i was about to buy from them but it think i will consider it twice
the posthumous fame[/B] should be re-considered by all Internet Shops
I don't know what to tell everyone, but I ordered from them and didn't have any problem other than I paid $2.99 for them to root the phone which was never done nor refunded.
I used EMS shipping and had my phone within a week; the tracking was a bit wack, but I figured it out and it even worked.
Everything works great on the phone and came as promised. I can't comment on customer service other than they never responded about a refund for the $2.99.
Would I order from them again? Maybe, but you might have to cross your fingers and hope you're lucky but my experience was acceptable.

Here's one I busted on aPad.tv.com forum; regarding Hyundai T7 Exynos 4 quad-core processor Tablet PC:
me: I ordered 1 a week ago. It was supposed to have been in stock, but when I checked on the status it was still unshipped. I was beginning to wonder if the T7 even existed; so what aPadTVadmin said about them being in stock, makes since now. I guess most of these online stores get all their stuff drop-shipped, am I assuming correct?
aPadTVadmin: I spoke to DP a couple of days ago regarding the T7 for another reason and all T7 units have been shipped out. This was Thursday. If you ordered 1 week ago it would have shipped out nearly same day. I witnessed with my own eyes a large stock of T7 Hyundais being processed for shipping out last time I visited there.
Please give me your order number so I can validate it and check with them for you.
me: BUNCH OF SCAM ARTISTS! I contacted the manufacturer today and found out that they don't even start shipping them until March 7th, 2013. SO THERE'S NO WAY THAT ANYONE EVEN HAS T7'S YET, EXCEPT FOR A FEW ENGINEERING SAMPLES THAT WENT OUT. SO MUCH FOR SEEING THEM WITH YOUR OWN EYES... MORE LIKE LYING OUT OF YOUR OWN MOUTH.

this guy who wrote this is also part of the scam; he want's you think that the company actually ships a good product, while the truth is, what you'll get is an imitation of the product you order, if at all that; these guys are all in cahoots, and they're on every forum & youtube video out there. They are good at what they do & once they ship the inferior product, if you return it, you lost all your money, point blank.
aliexpress.com is the best site to buy tablets/phones from china. they have buyer protection, and the money isn't released from your account till you confirm the device is received and working.
Scam
I ran into the FCT trap too. Should have done some more research beforehand .
I ordered an HDC Note 3 clone from them and paid through Paypal. They provided a Singapore shipping number and the next day told me the phone is out of stock and was not shipped. Meaning a fake shipping number was provided. The same time the same phone is still listed on their website as "in stock" and questions of potential customers are answered.
They told me to choose an alternative phone which I did with another HDC N9002. 35$ more expensive which difference I paid. They did not ship, after a number of reminders they however provided again the same (!) fake shipping number as before. So the item was never ever intended to be shipped. They play for time and money to get over the 45 days to launch a Paypal dispute. So be careful.
Currently a dispute for full refund is ongoing.
Stay away from these scammers!
SCAM artists
I'm also getting countless fake shipping numbers regarding broken tablet that I actually received from them.
Beware of FCT!
They are always delaying with shipping (some items they never ship). Their policy is to provide a bit lower prices than the others at first sight and then add extra fees for nothing and eventually ship the item you ordered when it is already outdated.
Fake shipping numbers are their method of delay.
FCT
I recently ordered from FCT and of course before reading all the forums of countless individuals who have been scammed or dooped by these guys.
Anyway after 2 weeks from placing my order I received a tracking number followed by another tracking number 2 days later (weird), then a week later it was scanned into the U.S, 2 or so more days it actually arrived at my door!!! (bing bong)
I was pretty stoked however, once I opened my package (HDC GT N9000 Note3) one thing was missing ...No stylus!! so after numerous calls to these guys via Skype (preferred and only method to contact them) I finally speak to a man who tells me that if I buy another phone they would include the stylus plus a gift free of charge....wait the phone was advertised to include this?? blah blah something shipping he began to ramble on about.... all n all pointless
I'm now a month into having my phone which appears to be pretty effin exact to the Note3 however yesterday my phone just disconnected from my network and will not re-connect. I cannot reach a soul at this place leaving me with a fancy mini internet tab/paperweight/possibly shooting target..
Basically they were great until I gave them my money and the phone is awesome however customer service is a huge key to running any successful business and this is something they LACK.....
GOOD LUCK!

Delivered an empty box from Motorola RMA

I shattered my screen a month after getting my phone. Living in Colombia I knew I would have to do an advance replacement fee and send the phone to my friend and his wife. They were coming to visit in a few weeks. I called support and explained to them the situation. They agreed to send a phone to my friends home and when he came to colombia I would give him the broken one. Well 4 days went by and no tracking for my phone that was supposed to be 1 day shipping. I called back and they said it would ship that day. Another day and no shipping. I call again and now they tell me they don't even have blue in stock. So they offer a white one 64 gb. Keep in mind I had 15 phones delivered to my friend to bring to me, including some iphones 6S's. My friends arrive with all my phones and well an empty box from motorola. I also notice the advance fee dropped off my credit card. So I assume with all the confusion from support over the non stock phone they did a standard replacement, which totally screws me over. So I call them after the weekend and they tell me they have to report it to fedex. Well fedex calls me and says the package was signed for, I say of course because a package was delivered. Now keep in mind this is all back from November.
So I start emailing everyone from Motorola, twitter, facebook just trying to get some real answers.
Here is the response I got today
"Hi Greg.
The news is not good. The package was shipped with a 64GB Nexus 6, and we have the serial number. Since it was signed for, FedEx is less likely to approve a claim, but that will be your best bet.
The downside is that we are going to have to charge you for the phone we sent. If you send in your broken phone we can release that hold, but unfortunately you are going to be charged for the repair cost in any event.
We've been holding this open so we can't extend this indefinitely. We are able to hold it open for two weeks -- if you can return by then we'll release the hold on the phone we sent.
- Matt"
The funny part is and I have told them a few times that there is no hold and you would only drop the hold if you sent an empty standard replacement box. They seem to ignore this comment every time. What makes it even more difficult is, Chase Sapphire was going to fix the phone but now with all this crap who knows what will happen. I googled motorola support empty box and found one other person tweet to Motorola Support with the same issue. I am curious has anyone else had issues with doing an RMA with these guys?
What do expect to gain by posting this here?

this is a long shot but call and ask Fed-ex what the actual weight of the package vs what the customer printed on the shipping label. I used to work for a logistics company here in California and we would re weigh the freight before forwarding it out of our warehouse. I know Fed-Ex international also do this but i am not sure about domestic. If you can get that information from Fed-ex it might help support your claim with moto.
Good luck, hope it works out for you.
Thanks, I'll call them again today.

Read this before ordering.. [OnePlus Support horror story]

I made an order on the 26/6 where it said that stock was available, a DHL order was created on the 27/7 that stayed on Shipping information received. Contacted DHL after a few days to see where my order was and they said it was never picked up.
Contacted OnePlus Live support, where i found out they did not have stock that's why they did not proceed and was told to wait 48 hours. I did.
After 48 hours my order was still not moving, contacted them again, opened a ticket and been trying to find out where my order is, finally they said that the order was lost and after 1 week of live support and support tickets they tried to resend me the order.
After 3 days that the new order stayed in pending and avoiding my question on "when will the new order be shipped" i opened a ticket in paypal asking for my money back.
It only took them 24h to hold the new order and asking me to close the dispute and as they put it "The system will automatically unhold the order upon ending PayPal dispute. Then the order will be shipped out based on the ETD (estimated time of arrival) you saw when you placed this order."
Thanks but not thanks, after i read https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/4twljv/oneplus_three_package_has_arrive_but_without_the/ I will never trust OnePlus again.
#NEVERTRUST rather than #NeverSettle.
I post this here, maybe it will manage to save someone the time and money from dealing with OnePlus and their support deparment.
So why instead of going through all of this misery, didn't you just buy one on Swappa??? There are brand new, never used or opened, as well as lightly used, tested phones, often for the same or less money than ordering one.
I just bought one there; in fact, I have bought my last four phones there -- not a single problem with any of them. Very easy and trouble free way to get a new phone.
Wow I was thinking of buying this phone and canceling the Axon 7 since everyone says this has better performance, but after that story no thank you and the other one who essentially got robbed no thanks. Loving ZTE.
some people unfortunately have some bad luck and bad experiences, just b/c this happened to him does not mean it will happen to you, some people just dont have things go right for them, i don't think u should not get the phone off of his bad luck, that is just the way life works, somethings works for people and somethings don't, i had a great experience, i work for at&t mobility and i encounter people who do have such bad luck and we can't do anything for b/c of certain circumstances and yet for some others we can work wonders for. I think it just so crazy how life is on how somethings work out for some people and somethings just go so wrong for people. You just gotta find out what works great for u
it's strange that it was marked as "in stock" because I ordered mine on June 21th (shipping to France) and before I paid it was clearly marked that estimated shipping date was for June 30th, so 9th day later, plus 7 days for DHL shipping.
Anyway I had to go in another country for 2 weeks and sent it to my parents home.
In the end they sent it on June 27th, so 3 days ahead of estimated shipping date and DHL was long as it was told.
On your invoice, what is the "estimated dispatch date"? their stock may differ by continent but for Europe stock was already low.
Anyway you don't need to warn European buyers as it's not possible to order op3 for most European countries, until end of September I think.
This could have been the 2nd OnePlus 3 i ordered from them. The 1st one came within 3 days when they first announced it. Everything went just fine and i was pretty pleased with the phone itself.
In this case i had to go through the process with their so-called "Customer Support", which is one of worse situations I've ever been through and person after person I've talked to in order to solve this was giving me the same answer "Wait 24/48 hours more". This was going more than a week.
@Le_Zouave It said in stock that's why i continued from them and not from any other website, better of getting the product from the source - i guess. Plus, In the ticket when finally the decided that my order was not send, i asked if it would be send "NOW" proceed, if not refund me 'PLEASE', they continued with the 2nd order which stayed pending for 3 days.
@zulu657 I would have bought it from any other website that supported shipping to Cyprus - my country, but since it showed "in stock" and i my previous device came within 3 days i thought "why not".
Point here is, If everything goes as it should then you might get the products you ordered, IF anything goes wrong and you have to solve it with their Support center, then i feel bad for you.

Nah man, already bought 3 phones from this company and they're pretty chill
Mine was fine. Enough said. Scare tactics. Are you paid by a competitor?
Also got mine within 3 days. I was really surprised at how fast it was delivered. On the other hand I have been waiting for a delivery from America (I'm in Austria) for nearly a month. Sometimes the packages get held in customs and can stay there for weeks. Either way a bit of patience if all you need. No point getting all worked up over something so petty. First world problems, am I right? Lol
But still...
This phone is a beast...
Nevermind the cs. All cs are almost the same they are like robots programmed to say what they are about to say.
To answer all,
@GeneralDisaray2 not paid by anyone. Just sharing my 2nd OP3 experience with all of you.
@camdadeye291 First OP3 i ordered as soon as it got announced came in 3 days, was as surprised as you. But as soon as i had to contact their support center for my 2nd order to solve my issue it all went to hell. Plus i would not call losing 500€ a 'first world problem'.
@marc_ecko28 The phone itself is one of the best i ever owned, that's why i ordered this 2nd one along with more cases.

Like I said a bit of patience is all that is needed, I'm sure it will be resolved. Still a first world problem.
For me all went smooth, even came earlier than estimated time, shipped to Croatia and in ten days after placed order I got it. No problems or anything whatsoever.
i bought total of 3 oneplus.3 never had issue. one phonr was even in my hands 2 days after payment which is insane

At first, my phone took longer than stated but I didn't logon to XDA and write a negative review about the situation. Nothing is guaranteed in life except taxes and death! Stuff you order on Amazon Prime - not guaranteed to get to you the next day. The game you purchased from GameStop or Best Buy - not guaranteed to get to you by the stated time and date. The phone you bought from OnePlus - not guaranteed to get to you by the date and time given. I think you missed the part where OnePlus halted sales of the OnePlus 3 due them not being able to meet demand - due to the devices popularity? Guys, please don't be phased by this account of "bad luck". What happened to this guys is not guaranteed to happen to you.

Guys, please don't be phased by this account of "bad luck". What happened to this guys is not guaranteed to happen to you.

The phone did not take longer, it never came since the 26/7. Actually, it was never packed but they just created a DHL ticket for pickup and that's it. I did not post this to inform people about OnePlus' lack of stock, but to share my experience with their Support deparment.
I had delays with products that i ordered from the Internet, but as soon as i contacted the company they handled it, like any company that respects their customers would. OnePlus support did not.
What i saw from their support department is keep the customer waiting. At least that what they showed me. It was not with 1 guy of their support, but with most of them, only 2 guys that i spoke with in live support actually came clear and i respect that.
The order was made before OnePlus came out in public and halt the sales, but that again plays no role as again I'm saying that my issue is not with their lack of stock, but with their lack of support and respect for their customers.
Was it bad luck? Yes. Will this happen to anyone else? Hope not. But in the case it happens and you need to contact their customer support, I feel bad for you.

Nope. I opened a case with Paypal for a refund 4 days ago.
I still wouldn't go as far as to say that this is appalling service. It's just a classic case of bad luck. Not every company has made their millions abiding by the book. If companies didn't make mistakes, they'd definitely be something wrong.

Note 8 ordered from Samsung is only 20 days old won't power on and Samsung doesn't

I have a Note 8 that I have been very happy with. It's 20 days old and last night while using it just went black. When plugged in to power there is not LED or any sign of life. I performed troubleshooting steps for soft and hard resets with and without power cables. I've tried 3 different power cables and cords but nothing. I charged overnight and still nothing. Completely dead. Phone still looks brand new because I bought a rugged case for it. I've treated it like a newborn baby so it must be defective.
I called Samsung support this morning who walked me through all the previous troubleshooting I've performed and confirmed that the phone is defective. Because it is only 20 days old they created a ticket for me and told me to call ecommerce department @ 855-726-8721 and give them the ticket number and they would replace the phone.
Called ecommerce who was happy to help me and all was well until the end of the phone call. I was told that within a week I would get an email with instructions and a label to send my phone back and within 15 days I would receive a replacement phone. I said WHAT!!!
When I purchased the phone I payed for expideted shipping and had it within 3 days. It's 20 days old and defective and now I'm told that it will actually be 3-4 weeks before I get a working phone again. This is the only phone I have. I had to go to a family member's house to call them 3 times for this info.
There is no escalation path available. Support can only support me. ecommerce can only put in a request via internal communication to a returns team and this is the returns team policy. You can no contact the returns team. You can't escalate to anyone because they are all different departments that have no communication with each other. I can't even call the corporate office to complain because they send you back to support. Everyone I speak to understand and they would be frustrated to but can't help me. Even Samsungs employees don't agree with it but can't do anything or put me in contact with anyone to complain.
So now I sit here waiting for what could be a week before I even get a communication from the returns team to get a working phone. I had the note 7 and lived through two replacements before they took my phone. I even stayed with them and bought the S7 edge. Traded it in for the Note 8 because I had faith in the company. After my experience today it is gone. I'm speechless at the lack of concern about me the customer and the attitude that this is our process sorry and you can't complain.
I would return this phone for an iPhone but I already bought a case, wireless charger, memory card and DeX station.
When I bought my phone it said I could get a wirelss charger or cameral but when I called to inquire they said I missed it by a day. Now I see it's still there if I bought a new phone.
My only experience with Samsung customer service and it will be my last. Next time I will go back to an iPhone where I can get real support from people that seem to care and I can talk to.
In this competitive day I can't beleive that Samsung doesn't care about their customers, has segmented departments in to different silos with no communication and doesn't even provide a place for customer to complaing about a process. If I have no way to complain how will they ever know something is broke.
I was mad but now I feel hopeless. I hope I don't have an emergency that will require me to call an emergency service because I don't have a phone. If something does happen and I survive maybe I could sue Samsung.
If anyone has any suggestions for me to help with this situation or some secret to fix the phone please let me know.
Roughly 3 weeks total to have the new phone from start to finish?...i.e. 1 week to get the instructions, and another 2 weeks (15 days) to receive a new phone. Sounds like they were nice and helpful too...some of the two week delay could be quicker depending on shipping. Doesn't honestly sound too bad overall, but I agree it always sucks to have a problem with a new phone. Not giving you the bonus sounds wrong though, if they still offer it online. Hope it gets sorted out soon!
Maybe a surge fried it!

same here; always buy from the carrier if possible
Can you return the items that you bought to the retailer, or are you out of the return period? You might be able to sell them on eBay or craigslist or some place like that to get some of your money back. Then you can get your iPhone.
The only thing that has really ever tempted me about the iPhone is Apple's customer service. They are the kings of customer service. Aside from my phone, everything else that I have is Apple. You know that if you have problems, they will stand behind what they sell and resolution is only a drive down the road (assuming that you have an Apple store nearby. If not, not sure).
of course Apple stands behind their products; when you overcharge for everything, and have the largest profit margins in the electronics world, its easy to provide good service!
Where did you see the promo still ongoing?
Lol.. gee what did they ever do before they had phones...
Seriously, that's pretty good IMO. They are probably factoring the time you take to return the phone to them and the time they ship it to you. Most companies I dealt with for return/exchange will wait for the defective item to be returned first before they send out the replacement. Despite what was said and tested, they will test it themselves to ensure it is defective as well. Once they know it's defective they will ship the replacement. Some have a business supported plan where they will request payment first for a new item and ship immediately. Upon receipt, return instructions and label will be provided for the return. Once returned, they credit your account. So really don't see anything wrong with this. They are doing what other companies I've dealt with are doing from my own experiences.
The only reason why I buy from the carrier is one you don't have to pay for the phone all up front. Especially since I am only keeping it for a year. When the Note9 comes out I can switch this in for the 9. Number 2 is location the carrier stores are all over easy to walk into a store and swap a defective phone out. Or they will ship one overnight. I think Samsung just implementing his no return policy after the Note 7. I read somewhere that Samsung was not replacing phones. Or they are making it really difficult to try to return a phone.

It is these stories , that I count my blessings that the two devices bought from Samsung direct aren't defective. I think one thing I've learned for others on here is this. I think next time I'll just buy the devices from my provider, after all I bought a T Mobile one from Samsung direct. The T Mobile service is much better.

That's what I used to think, but after buying from Samsung directly I will NEVER again buy from them. There was a problem with the first phone that had to be returned, and the experience, which is not over, has been a nightmare. If it had been through Verizon, it would have been a piece of cake. It completely changed my mind about any perceived advantages (NONE) of buying from company vs. carrier. I've had all generations of the Note, but after this I'm so burned out on Samsung, I'd consider something else. And actually I don't like the 8 any better than the 7 (which I still have). Their e-commerce department which they route everything through is a joke. They have absolutely no authority and the answer for everything is "wait for a link to be sent to you", which has never happened so far. Lesson learned - I'll vote with my feet.

I think it's horrible. Samsung should offer the option of shipping a new replacement phone immediately for overnight delivery, if OP provides a credit-card number for the value of the phone until the old one is returned. Then Samsung should immediately email a return label for RMA shipping, and cancel the credit-card hold as soon as the defective product is received and verified.
For an expensive new phone that dies within three weeks, anything less than that is a ripoff.

Before phones, people didn't organize their social and commercial activity in a manner that depends on phones--and the cost to productivity was staggering.
Honestly, I always keep a spare phone now exactly for this reason and just make sure the SIM size is the same as my current phone. Kept an HTC One M8 as my backup for a while. Better than being forced to A ) be without a phone or B ) be between a rock and a hard place with paying full price immediately to get a new phone so I can get phone calls. With the backup, I can C ) go through insurance, swappa, or w/e I choose patiently.

That would indeed be phenomenal service, but it also sounds like an expensive change that would likely be passed on to consumers via increased pricing. It's expensive enough as it is! I think most of us can manage without overnight delivery, but some sort of middle ground would be reasonable and certainly welcome.

It's only a noticeable expense if a large fraction of their phones fail quickly. And the overnight (as opposed to two-day) shipping isn't all that important. Most of the benefit from the process I described would come from its other aspects, which would have little or no cost compared to their weeks-slower process.
Samsung just protecting themselves from people claiming the phone just broke on its own when it's actually water damage or physical damage. Nothing wrong with them looking over your phone before they issue out a new one.
If you watered service you should have bought it from a carrier or bought an iPhone.

Sure, but if they have your credit-card number before they send the replacement phone, then if they find that the original phone was not really defective, they can insist that the replacement be returned in new condition (and subject to a standard restocking fee), or else charge the customer for a second phone. So they're fully protected.

Why? Any vendor who sells someone a product that turns out to be defective has an obligation to replace it without an unnecessary, punitive delay.

OnePlus Customer Service/RMA

I would like to explain about a situation that I had to go through with OnePlus customer service.
I got my new OnePlus 7 Pro around 3pm today. I excitedly opened the box and turned the phone on. I looked it over and saw something on the back. "What is that?" I thought. Inspecting it closer, I saw a ripple in the plastic foil that adheres to the glass back and gives the shimmery look. It wasn't a huge deal, but still a flaw, and I should have a flawless phone after shelling out 750 dollars.
Ok, I'll contact support.
I called them and spoke with someone that I suspect was in China. She stated that she was sorry for the inconvenience, but I could submit an RMA. Since it was within the 15 days, I should get an email soon with the shipping label and info. The whole process could take a couple of weeks though....sucks but ok, I should get the flawless device I paid for.
About 2 hours later I got an email from Acer whom I guess handles OnePlus's returns. There was not a shipping label. I figured I would contact chat support, surely they just forgot to attach the label.
Well over 45 mins later, they finally decipher what I'm asking for and tell me that OnePlus isn't going to pay for shipping back to them. What? Surely a mistake, right? They delivered a flawed product.
I decided to call. I either got the same exact lady that I had earlier when I called, or they all use the same name, I dont know. Anyways, I explained the situation, and again she assured me that I would not have to pay shipping back to them. She asked me to wait on hold and she would see what the deal is. Welp, 20 mins later she comes back on and says "we are sorry sir but because there is nothing wrong with the OTG cable, you will have to pay for shipping back to us." Ok what the heck, this is about a phone lady, I again gave her my info and she apologized and asked me to wait on hold. Another 15 mins later and she came back on and said, and I quote "I am so sorry sir, but Acer will not pay for shipping back to their service center." I'm like what, I'm talking to OnePlus, this is a OnePlus phone, I want them to pay for shipping back since they delivered a flawed product. "I'm sorry sir, Acer is who handles the returns and they will not pay."
So I asked her to change my RMA to a return instead of exchange. I'll be footing the bill to send the phone back and will never consider another OnePlus product again.
I'm posting this for those on the fence. Just know that if you ever have problems their customer service is a joke. Thank God I was within the 15 day window. The main reason I asked for them to change to a return instead of exchange was the whole time I was thinking....I'm within the window of return and this is how they treat me? What if the ffc goes out? The screen? I dont want to go through it again. Hope this info helps out others. Im sorry I don't get to be a part of this community. I could tell it was going to be a good one. Take care.

Now that I've cooled off, I'm weighing keeping it. On one hand I'm scared of dealing with support if anything mechanically malfunctions with the phone. On the other hand, I've been using Samsung for 8 years straight, and I miss having root and flashing roms.
I'm going to leave the first post the same though, because I think the frustration is warranted and others may be interested to know what it's like dealing with them.
I attached a picture of the defect, its incredibly minor....I wasn't sure that I was even going to contact them in the first place. But I kept saying man, you paid 750 for a new phone it should be without flaws...
I don't know, I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Apple has stores you could take the phone and swap it, but I've never dealt with them.
I've dealt with Samsung for their appliances a few times and never had anything this bad. It's hard to even convey in writing how frustrating those several hours dealing with them were. That last call with the lady who mentioned the otg cable was maddening. That 45 minutes was seriously a total waste of time.

I cant believe they dont pay return shipping for something that is clearly a defect. I've returned things to Samsung and given a return label hassle free.
Why did you phone, you should have used the site :

I'm pretty sure the chat agents are in OnePlus and would be much more accommodating.
The most recommended RMA process is to raise a support ticket, then make a post on the OnePlus forum and mention one of the mods who can have someone look at it for you, if it's especially egregious like this issue is then you should get a satisfactory outcome using that method.
Also the reason why buying it from a store is usually better, you can then just take it straight back to that store. Online sales are always inherently more difficult for support.
Hey, man. sorry about your experience. I'm the same way with regards to wanting a flawless device. If there isn't a restocking fee, i would just say to return and buy another one (if theyre unwilling to RMA). It's lame to have to pay return shipping, but this way you can at least save your "RMA karma" for if you really need it. Either way, if you're not happy with it, don't just settle...no pun intended lol

Using that link in USA redirects you to the site I used. Also, the reps I spoke with were OnePlus reps (though not very good ones).
And we cannot purchase from a store here unless we are Tmobile customers. Tmobile requires you to sign up for service if you buy the phone from them.
As far as the method you mentioned about visiting the forums, you may have a point there, but how is that to be known by a new customer? I think it's a good contribution for other users that may be looking this topic up later, so I appreciate it!
I am located in Germany so my experience would probably differ and I don't know what other options and resellers there are in the US.
However, I have ordered my phone to Amazon and there the shipping date is may 31st from the beginning. I know I will have to wait longer, but I just love their service. 30 day return period and I only have to deal with them once there is something wrong with the device. I have been reading horrible stories about oneplus customer support and your case would upset me as well. I honestly wouldn't keep it after spending that much money and send it back. (I will would still get a new one). Being forced to pay anything extra is outrages though.
Luckily, I never had to do any rma with my older oneplus phones yet and I am getting a new one every year. Still, I will stick with Amazon, just in case.

No problem, hope you get a satisfactory outcome and sorry your first experience with OnePlus has been soured like this.
Thanks everyone. I've decided that I am going to send it back. I may buy another one, I haven't quite decided that yet. I wish Amazon US had it

I would be upset too, but Apple and Samsung are going to have the same customer service too.

I had a great experience with Samsung with my wife's phone. Phone was still under warranty and they took care of it right away. They paid shipping both ways and got the new phone in less than 8 days. I have not had any experience with OnePLus customer service but I am not surprised with the experience OP had. I have OP6 and thankfully it runs flawless. When I purchased OP6, it was at least $200 cheaper than comparable flagship phones from well-known manufacturers. In order to sell quality phones at a razor thin margins, usually they cut corners with customer service/after-sales service. I hope OP gets the refund in a timely fashion.
I was being sarcastic, With customer service it's all one of the same though, one person can have a great experience and others not so much like this poor fellow, I used to work for att customer relations and heard horror stories similar to this and some worse, also heard great things for both Samsung, crApple, LG and some not so good. It is really in all who u get, if ur not happy just hang up and move on, BC it could be that person's manager or team lead who does not want to do anything for anyone, there were some like me who would try to help as much as possible, again it comes down to the manager, team leader, call center manager or above. I hope u can get it resolved to ur satisfaction. Just RMA it
I'm in the UK, had to send back a OnePlus 5. Free shipping, got it back within 4 days. Think it went to the Czech Republic. Was about a year ago.
Sound awful your experience though
