No rom can be made perfect in a single build.. And hence nightlies concept exist.. When one rom's nightly is out, i work on the other project.. Updates come only when decent and worth updating changes are merged.. So if i work on a single rom, once i build a nightly, i have no work as i cannot keep compiling everyday for single changed merged.. Just trying to give you guys the taste of those roms which are not common and famous in other forums like galaxy notes, nexus, s2,s3 etc..

altough i agree with you for new roms, after 4 or 5 kitkat roms maybe users choose 2 or 3 to keep working..no sense on having 10 kitkat roms..i think AORP and CARBON rom are hard to beat..but we never know..
good work my friend.

Why can't we have 10 Kk roms? This alpha build works very well for me! Its so fluid!

I actually like the PolygonKK 1.2 quite a lot.... I used to have AORP beta and found PolygonKK to be better.
Is AORP 1.2 really such an improvement?
Never installed Carbon since its still a beta....and decided to go back to ICS since i use HDMI a lot for movies and other things.
With Android Tweaker 2 i managed to tweak the kitkat roms quite a bit.....Love that app.
Does anybody know if it will ever be possible that sony will release HDMI sources for kitkat?
Kitkat is a light version ideal fo our ARC S.
If not, would it be possible to create a compatible virtual machine running the stock ICS version of HDMI on 4.4?

we can..for me problem is releasing many roms with same bugs, same base rom and almost same performance..kernel more stable and fast for kitkat roms (arcS)is still 11DarkAnzu20140112.:good:
so what im saying is that i prefer 3 or 4 stable and super 4.4 kitkat roms, than 10 unstable roms and buggy..so far the released roms are pretty stable..so we are lucky..but they are similar if you tested..i ve tested:
polygon kk
carbon
AORP
cm11LX
Omni
best so far for me CARBON, AORP and new Polygon kk 1.2 with aroma installer and good options..so 3 top kitkat roms (beta versions still).
gonna give this a try also this days if i have time..a new 3xx kernel or a optimized one it was a good idea too..surely it will improve all kitkat roms.

We should get @wedgess to work on a new lupus kernel for KitKat.... but it seems he left development on our devices.

I'm on Carbon, and is so good for me: smooth, fluid and customizable like I want.
I don't need tablet UI or expandable desktop...and carbon for me it's the right choice. But this ROM "features" it's very intersting...
I'll wait for screenshots (for view features like UI, and customization/ performances etc..) and changelog of it.
I'll also say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to vishal...vishal spent a lot of his time on these projects, that are all goods in their ways..it's only an user choice which choose.
I'm on Carbon and wait for Carbon next release, with latest cm11 and more...but I'm tempted so much by this ROM... :highfive:

great rom port vishal. everything works great, very customizable ui and interesting tweaks setup...
screen recorder fc's... i'm not able to make this app work changing video resolution... has anyone tried it?
i'd like to suggest AOSB Project (ProBAM ROM) from s3 forum, as a new rom port... just think about it

i ve tested this rom..and its working great..video review on the way.
it seems better than other kitkat roms...very customizable, many options, many tweaks inside rom (user friendly)..amazing job on this..for a alpha version..WOW.
:good::good::good:
ps:just one note..it would be awsome a light blue version.:silly:

Edit:

Tired of Themed roms and bloatware? Tired of CM7 based, heavily modded roms? Want something Fast,Stable,Lite and Bareboned but still enjoy Cm7?
Here is your answer for all those questions--> SLIM CM7
Code:
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
I was inspired by this thread to make it for our ace-i too I made this for my personal use but I thought I might share it with you guys too since our device doesn't have a lite rom based on Cm7.
There's nothing special about this ROM.It can be used with any script like Adrenaline Engine or PurePerformances Mode or Fly-on script to boost your performance higher. This is just the first build. Will try to make this even better. But I won't be adding any fancy mods.I will try to add some simple mods in future builds.
Use this ROM and decide what is best for you.BUT, their SIZE speaks for them ! It is only 62 mb,It is based on biletv3's RC4 CM7.
Ram consumption is very Low.It is rock-solid and good for Multitasking and general use
Do not install Gapps.Install only the apps you need.
Bloatware has been removed as much as possible. It is very stable too.Give me suggestions on making this even better (if you want any app added or removed).I will try to add more roms to the slim series in future if you people want them.
All the rightful credits are in the second post.
All the downloads are in the third post.
I really hope this rom will be useful.
Finally,I know this is very simple to make and anyone can do it;I just wanted to share and help out some people who would really want this.:good:
Features:
Reduced the ROM Size to 53MB
[*]Ad-free by patching HOSTS File
[*]Rooted
[*]Added Quickpic.Removed Gallery 3D.
[*]No Bootanimation-Faster Boot
[*]Removed lot of unnecessary ringtones and wallpapers
[*]File-manager included in system
[*]Extreme Bare-bones
[*]Stable-Rock-Solid
[*]ADW launcher
[*]Lite windows phone keyboard (Uses only little rom)
[*]Removed all bloatware
Links ADDED in third post.

I agree with Envy. This is exactly the same as AOSP 2.3.7 except that it has CM7 parts.
Even if the ROM is so smooth it still consist CM7 remaining bugs which make it not stable enough.
Anyway, it might be useful to some users! :good:
Keyboard FC and other options in Dev tools also fc

would be interesting to see a poll request with the age of the users who only appreciate highly-themed roms and don't care about lighter and faster roms
this rom is what it is, thats all
1. Our phone has very less RAM to run ICS or JB in fully optimised manner. So these ROM's slightly fulfil that requirement. As the apps in these ROM's occupy very less RAM of around, 20 to 30 MB only !
2. Due to less RAM consumption, phone tends to be more responsive, smooth and faster !
3. Overall performance increases roughly around, 5 times !
4. If you are a benchmark believer, then AnTuTu scores were also slightly higher compared to the original ROM's
5. These lite ROM's along with any script like Adrenaline Engine, can boost your performance slightly higher.
6. These ROM's can be used as a daily driver, 100% !
7. Slim ROM's have slightly higher battery backup compared to the original ROM's. For me atleast, i.e; with minimal usage of phone.
NOTE - I use my phone only for phone calls and listening to music [A lot ! ]
8. So use these ROM's and decide what is best for you.
Thanks for supporting me.
9. There's nothing great about these ROM's. BUT, their SIZE speaks for them !

Nice ROM, a good alternative of KitKat roms in which users will always miss the FM radio application working. Unfortunately it seems radio drivers for JB are worse than those for GB and the radio signal is better, more crystal clear in GinKitKat than in this ROM or other JB ROMs.
The ROM is a little bit laggy sometimes, compared to the KitKat Carbon Rom which is very smooth and has a looooooot of system storage free. I'll try also the Fusion kernel, because people say it has better performance than Lupus.
I'm also missing the blacklist function in the Phone application and it will be super if it can be compiled back to it - as far as I remember it was available in other JB roms.
The lockscreen clock font is a little bit ugly for me, but this is a Jellybean disadvantage, not remark to the ROM.
What's the system storage available in this ROM - my phone showed 359MBs compared to 384 in KK roms?

if you need radio and a faster camera with good quality this rom is a good alternative..cant compare KK roms with JB roms..camera is buggy and slower,no radio but in alternative roms are faster, great ram management and super snappy.(at least on couple of them,CARBON for sure..one of the best kk rom for me):good:
font you can flash another one..and lag on this rom?
but if you play games on this rom or navigate, see videos and such im sure you will see amazing performance...play MC4 on kitkat and this one..my next review on kk roms i will test MC4 aswell..just to compare..

i ve made changes in this rom, to make it my own way and always liked slimbean roms..my favourites ever..pitty we dont have a slimkat fully working for arc/s..i ve tried to build a few times but without sucess like others tried..so i released this JB with some slimkat mods..i didnt find any bug untill now,but i always appreciate users feedback..bad or good..its the way we can make roms better and better.
is this rom an upgrade of slim bean 4 by bestt? or is it a separate one?
I think Fusion kernel is working better with this ROM. Less lag, but still available sometimes in the phone app - while changing tabs into it or by starting it up.
I only miss the blacklist function in the phone app.
Otherwise the rom is great alternative of KK roms for the presence of FM radio.

hi
I know this is a testing build and not done but i was wondering if u could maybe port it for t210/r from this if u dont mind me asking
I'll definitely try once I get this one stable.
This rom should also be ported to the SM-T217T :fingers-crossed: that would be awesome...It's nice to see CandyKat on the T217S tho, awesome work
Oh my god! Finally a Rom for Sprint grab 3. I hope you get everything working. I'm so sic of stock. There's really no options. Do you know will this work with latest baseband NE7 once you get bugs worked out?

Can't thank you enough for your effort. This tab has been treated like a leper of the tab 3s for such a long time. This rom installed fine and seemed to work as it should. I've had the chance to try CM11 by eloper. The only thing that didn't work was the camera. Maybe he can chip in as to what stops wifi and BT from running here. I've also noticed a slight flickering which also existed in CM11, which has never been figured out by the dev. That, however, is nothing more than a minor annoyance and hence shouldn't be a priority of any kind. Would love to contribute except I'm totally out of my depth in this department. The only thing I can do is test.

I'll just tell everybody now; I don't do ports. I build from source. Not trying to sound like a jag, just sayin'. If you can get me device, kernel, and other repo files, or a local_manifest from git, I can try builds for other tabs. But, porting is tough and the success rate is low. I'm better at doing it this way.

I don't believe that the baseband version will be an issue, because the ROM is 4.4.4. You don't need to worry about whether you are 4.2.2 or 4.4.2. I could be wrong.

Kinda feeling that way myself. But, after I build Candykat, Beanstalk, and maybe slim for this badboy, I will share the wealth.

Keep in touch then, because as I move forward with this and hopefully another ROM or two, I will definitely need a tester to help with debugging and such. Thanks for your support.
I'll be working on this ROM over the next couple days and the weekend. If anyone has ideas, tips, help to offer, or any other kind of assistance, I am all ears. Hopefully I'll be able to work out some issues and get this ROM to daily driver status very soon. I HATE STOCK!
Stay tuned.....
Always back up your rom
I think it's worth mentioning that you should make a backup of whatever you're running before you flash this. This is a 4.4.4 ROM, and I have read that users running a later ROM version have experienced bricks trying to flash back to an earlier version(for example, flashing back to 4.2.2). DON'T LET THIS BE YOU. Your backup from an earlier version will cause you no problems. Trying to 'downflash' can be a huge problem apparently. ALWAYS BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING NEW... and restore your former ROMs....don't attempt to downgrade....just sayin'....:highfive:

No no...I wasn't saying there's no recovery and I haven't tried it yet. My question was actually if the kernel has a recovery...because in the instructions you said "make sure to have CWM installed" so I was wondering why do we need to have cwm recovery before flashing the kernel if the kernel has a built-in recovery. I hope you understood now xD

My Review
Flashed Validus, rebooted.
Holy Boot Animation I really like it!
First impression : Well this is almost Carbon ROM with some more features, God damn it, I wasted my time and 236 MBs of storage because of this ROM! I already had Carbon
After some minutes :
Alright, those extra features are not as useless as I thought at first, I'm using them proudly
After 2 hours of using this ROM :
Holy sh*t! This is way smoother and more battery friendly!!! I really love it! Using as my daily driver :fingers-crossed:
@Alx31TLse Did you cherry pick some other things like JustArchi's Optimizations or something? You did something really good! Thanks.

That Linaro+SaberMod made this ROM so smooth :good: Why you didn't tell us at first? It's best AOSP ROM I've ever tried. Just have one question : Does your next ROM also have Linaro and SaberMod? I wanna start customizing this ROM but another ROM is coming, I think it's waste of time because I'll do a clean install

Edit : By checking Alx31TLse profile I just find out next ROM is Tesla 2.5 from GZR team with Linaro and SaberMod
Edit 2 : I did some researches, I'm not the only one who feels better performance with Linaro.Everybody should take a look at http://www.xda-developers.com/android/xda-myth-busters-linaro-4-7-4-vs-gcc-4-7/
yeah its Tesla...and yes both are linaro and saberuber compiled
will do that in cuple hours
Tapatalked with Yuga
So...will Tesla be better than this rom?

No one knows
By the way I found one bug, after applying theme, Quick Settings and Notification panel won't change.
EDIT : Sorry for false alarm, it was theme related
Does the camera have HDR?
EDIT: Ok, I decided to try this rom out (even though I'm quite happy on OmniRom right now) to see how it works instead of asking thousand questions. xD
I'll report my opinion after I use it for a day or two
EDIT 1: After installing and setting everything up, I'm really liking what I'm seeing and the performance is awesome ! The only things I miss are:
1) No turnable toggles (like swiping across data toggle to show preffered network type
2) This one is not a big deal but the letters seem kinda grayish and too thin when browsing the web...maybe I'm just imagining cause the only place where I notice it is on google page

@finac94 C'mon! Look at attached screenshot below and tell me again that smart/quick pulldown is not present in Validus!
I just found one critical bug : SystemUI crashes every time I long press on a notification. Logcat attached.

Oh sorry, I guess i missed those settings :silly: I edited my post and removed that one ^^
But I had to switch back to OmniRom cause I just find it the most stable and battery friendly at the moment...if only it had hdr and more camera options like other roms :/
This rom seemed pretty good for the time I used it, but I screwed it up by applying some lollipop theme and it just kept popping "system ui crashed" error and I just couldn't do anything xD that's pretty much the reason i switched because theme manager kinda breaks ui most of the time and I just can't control myself not to use it if I have an option xD
