Battery usage will depend on your rom too
For example battery life on 4.3 is way better than 4.1.2
Some tips which i can give are
1.never turn off stamina mod
2.make your rom bloatware free
3.use 2g more than 3g whenever needed
4.many people say that not to use app freezers and hibernators because they drain battery
But i use greenify and disable service apps
The battery life without these apps is almost the same but stil i use them.
It helps a bit
5.always keep a check on the roots of battery drainage through wakelock detector and betterbatterystats apps
If anyone finds anything wrong in the above please mention
I would like to know the right way from you

Request for P880 developers.

Hi!
We've got some kernels improving efficiency/performance of our 4X. I have a request for our dear developers: can you create a kernel improving lenght of battery life? I (and many of LG Optimus P880 users) think baterry life is a weak point of Optimus 4X, so it will be really helpful if you create such kernel. What do you think about it?
Regards, Y2J
- Sorry for my bad English -
Battery is something all devs consider, some are already including fixes for baseband wakelock. To get more juice what you really need is to restrict the number of cores to [email protected], keep your brightness lower and undervolt by 25 millivolts if your kernel supports it. All phones of this calibre are battery hungry, I'm afraid you must get used to that and use whatever our few devs make available to help

Can you tell me what kernel resolve baseband wakelock? I have a huge problem with that..
its not the kernel or the mod, that drains your battery.
its the installed apps.
for example: if you have skype, facebook and google search installed, the battery lasts half as long as without these apps.
especially skype is the devil, because it does not have push mode, so your phone will never go to deep sleep mode when skype is running.
google search is also a big battery drainer, same goes for facebook with its 35 services and processes always running.
deinstall/freeze these apps, and use icq, facebook chat and skype with "im+ pro", which _has_ push notifications.
my battery always lasts at least 3 days with normal use, and i am on stock 20a.
the only thing i do is using a taskmanager and kill all tasks i dont want running to free up memory (i use advanced task killer free for that, it memorizes the tasks it should kill).
when i had skype and google search installed, i sometimes had this weird battery drain, too, that sucked my battery empty in some hours.
after i froze these apps some month ago, i never had this again and everything is running smooth.

Might I add you can keep these apps and use greenify if they are necessary to your use

My battery is not drained. I am power user, so my battery lifes about 12h. A lot of useless services and stuff from CM has been frozen by me. I just think that energy-saving kernel should be created cause not all of 4X users are gamers. I (and they) will be very happy if our LGs can be used some hours longer. I don't use Facebook or Skype apps. I have less than ten apps from Google Play installed. There aren't battery-draining apps because I have checked them. Sorry for my bad English.

I get what you're saying, but custom kernels generally provide the options for either performance or battery life. Configure your kernel based on your needs. The only way battery life is gonna improve more than the current tweaks allow is something completely built from scratch with battery life in mind from start to finish. As far as I know since dexter left only kholk is capable of it, most kernels here are just a stock base with some good addons. Just give it time and see what comes

I seem to have this too, but 1% drain over an hour and a half with 3G on doesn't bother me. Is yours worse? There's a few kernels with an attempt to fix this implemented, dunno if it works though

A 19 minute wakelock from baseband though, I expected more of a drain from that, strange how even those with a big wakelock dont see drain as a result

Well like me, 19mins out of an hour and a half is quite big, I charge my phone overnight but even when I have left it I have only lost 3%, I only recently starting investigation of the wakelock on my phone, if I am able to replicate the drain somehow I will share as I have had peculiar drain, only once ever though

For all of you, that have huge battery drain over night (20-30%), i might have solution that helped at least 10 users. It happened to me shortly after flash to v20a. All you need to do is to factory reset phone and in "Software update" software decline terms and conditions of LG update service.
After this procedure I have 1-3% drain per night (8 hours). By Wakelock Detector my phone have only 10-15 min longer awake time than onScreen time.
Why did you have battery drain, what was the cause? Not everybody suffers from baseband wakelock..
Wait for kholk's 3.4 beta kernel, You'll get Your battery improvement
Do you think he will solve baseband wakelock? Where can I see the development of his kernel so i know when it comes?

How many baseband wakelocks do you have?
It depends..Sometime very little and sometime over 80% during the night! Last night it was only 1% but the night before it was 83%! It doesnt make any sense,it comes and goes randomly..And the settings are always the same(over night no wifi no 3g)

PROBLEM - Heavy battery drain (standby) - 10% per hour.

Admins, please move to corecrt Thread (One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting)
Hy all!
Im having major problem with my HTC One battery.
In the begining, battery works realy good (2 days of light usage) and then of the sudden starts draininig 10% over night (standby, wifi off, sync of, hard reset is done, only GSM).
I`ve noticed that sometimes, back of my phone got warm (even im not using it)
Yesterday, i turn on airplane mode and battery lost 30% over 8 hours.
WakeLock says 98% deep sleep.
GSAM says 30% use phone radio, 70% apps (system and kernel)
I cant post pictures cause im writting this from work.
Stock android v 4.2.2.
T-Mobile carrier (M7 version)
Can anyone help? I tried almost all solutions founded on forums...
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.
Try Greenify on the Playstore, it show you all the wakelocks and allow you to hibernate them
hooh! that's bad. maybe you have a lot of apps running in background.

I have WakeLock Detector instaled and 98% is in deep sleep. I disabled all apps i dont using and that can cause such a masive battery drain.
My mobile radio is big power consumer (switched to GSM only with very good signal).

My phone is stock (not rooted) so i dont know if Greenify is going to work?
Here are some screenshots.
Here are some new screenshots (before sleeping charged to 100%).
Phone was not used before taking the screenshots. Setup was the same as in the first post.
Could it be a bad battery? Should I return the phone?

[Q] battery saving app

hey guys, just wanted to know if any of use battery saving apps other than sony's super stamina.
if so what do u use, and which do u think is better.
currently im using lenovo power saving from my yoga 8
Basically battery saving app not only disable your data & wifi stuffs. It also kills the apps which is consuming more power. But android again starts the app which will drain more battery juice. So i wont suggest to use any battery saving apps. You can wisely act to save your battery.
Disable data, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth when there is no need of it. Disable auto brightness, use greenify to manage your apps.
if you have root, use greenify to hibernate the apps. thats the best battery saving app.
ah forgot to mention i also use greenify. thx for the comments
There is a greenify for unrooted phones (see playstore)....
However I doubt any batter saving app works as it should... They only turn off some connections like Wifi and data and thats it... (Same with stamina mode)... There is no app (atleast that I know of) that really helps saving battery.
If you're on stock then stamina mode is probably the best, if you're on a custom rom then I use greenpower and it works nicely as a replacement. It really depends on how you use your phone though as to what will work well, you can micro manage down to specific apps but it will barely be noticable saving power when the phone is in use its more for not wasting power when the screen is off (which is what Stamina mode does) that youll notice the saving.
I have Greenpower to only enable data when the screen is unlocked and to automatically turn off all data and sound for a night period but other than that it all runs as normal.

Is horrible battery life normal?

Hello I recently picked up a s5 that is on the latest update ANG3 and the battery life is far from anything to brag about. I mean like maybe 7hours with an hour of screen on time before the phone is at 20%. I have done some searching and all I see are wake locks and not going to deep sleep cause problems but I'm not seeing either of those in my battery stats. I disable many apps that aren't needed such as lookout and many of the bloat apps hoping one of those was the cause but still to no avail
I'm at a loss as to what to check now any help would be appreciated
I can usually go 2 days without charging and have 4 hours of screen on time. Maybe you have a defective unit with a bad chip?
At work my phone lasts all day, recharge at night. On weekends I don't even charge it, it will hold a decent charge over a 3-day weekend. Running DK 3.0, nothing special beyond that.
hey guys, battery drains depends upon each and every single option you tap on ! even the signal clash may cause battery to drain faster and enabling mobile data wil drain much...
if you want your battery usage to be controlled, jus root your s5, and clock it using, no frills
you can flash a custom kernel to make it much better !
hit like if ths helped

Yes, because our LOCKED bootloader enables us to run a CUSTOM kernel.

jus uninstall the **** you've installed !
install no frills cpu or set cpu from playstore. it wil claim for root permission. grant it....
then keep set the maximum clock frequency values to the max and minimum clock frequency values to the min. and select governor as power saver....
learn much abt it in google
that's it...your're done.

That is unusually bad. Even out of the box (with all the crap enabled) I could go almost all day.
gsam battery monitor, better battery stats, and wakelock detector should all help you find offenders. I also found the 'top' utility in elixir to be useful to me because I would see Security Storage peg the cpu frequently (phone would even get warm), but the other utilities tend to lump that in with Android System. (In my case that was mostly caused by the newest Amazon appstore app).
If you can't find a specific app that is a problem that you can just remove, the really useful tuning needs root, to freeze bloat, unbounce wakelocks (the Unbounce xposed module is the greatest thing since sliced bread), fully utilize greenify, and so on.
It's possible, if you got a used device, that you have a crappy battery (maybe someone bought a cheap knockoff battery and put it in there).
I'm not a battery saving expert by any stretch of the imagination...but I've been playing with my biggest battery consumer...
Google play services....
I shut it down for 12 hours today...and improved my battery life by 27% over yesterday..
Just my observation on one of the many services that force our batteries into extinction...g

my galaxy s3 i9305 consumes a lot of battery

I have a problem with my phone. The battery precents gets low very fast. Its not problem with the battery because I checked it. Maybe I should change rom?
With a rooted phone you could try xposed framework and deep sleep battery saver. I have very good results.
Also check with wakelock detector that no process is hindering deep sleep.
S3 screen is consuming very much battery though.

Have you had the phone for long? What rom are you running? Has it only recently started chewing the battery?
If you have installed any new apps since the battery was fine, maybe might to be to blame. Also some i9305's have issues with the antenna and will use up a lot of battery if you are in an area where the signal isn't perfect.
Also check what it says is using your battery in battery stats in settings.

And did you check the battery stats in settings? This will give you an idea on what is using the battery the most. eg. screen, cell standby etc.

OK, if internet and android system use up the most of your battery, then it sounds like you have a fairly high usage or some app(s) are running in the background, in which case changing roms probably won't make that much difference. Check out @MaHo_66 's guide for rooting/recoveries etc here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-i9305-cwm-philz-twrp-versions-t2694249
This will start you on flashing etc. And check out the forums for info on the different roms. Other users will hopefully suggest ones to try
PS - read rooting guide carefully and follow the steps!!
If your ROM allows you to, try to deny "Keep awake" permission for some apps especially Google Play services. Otherwise you can use Greenify.
