[Q] Help please, computer will not detect LG 4xhd after root - LG Optimus 4X HD

I rooted my phone but forgot to unlock the bootloader, and now my LG is in a bootloop.
I can access S/W mode but not recovery mode (android with the triangle), the main problem is that my computer will not detect my phone when it is in (windows 7 is what im using). I tried other cables, computers and even ubuntu, same result the phone will charge but it is not detected.
I looked in device manager and there is no hint of it there.
And when I try to flash the KDZ, I get the message "No device found"
Please help.

How many times do people need to ask the same basic questions because they are too lazy to search first?
EVERYTHING you need to know has been said many times, so please use the clever little search function and start reading. :good:

bootloader and root - not related
root and recovery - not related
s/w mode and recovery - not related
adb and phone drivers - extremely related, not even mentioned
I-phone is usually the answer in these cases, but tonight I'm feeling generous so I'll give away some free knowledge:
- bootloader: Where the "code" that controls all of your specific hw resides (aka kernel) also sometimes referred to as "bl"
- root: The ability of taking control of "administration priviliges" or "run as administrator" to make a comparison with windows
- recovery: It's a gui for a set of basic commands which lives inside the bootloader, so no unlock - no custom recovery
- custom recovery: two choices, twrp or cwm, they replace the crappy and useless stock lg recovery - Requirement: unlocked bootloader
- software mode: something apparently lot of people focus on but you'll actually need at most twice in your lifetime before you change phone

CAPTIVATE - Frozen on AT&T Boot, Unrecognized via USB, NO access to CWM - PLEASE HELP
HI - I've been fighting this captivate for over 48 hours. Being very familiar with all this, and not doing this for the first time either, the fact that I can't get this resolved drives me insane as I have never been so mentally exhausted in being incapable of resolving a problem, thus seeking professional guidance from the Gods on mobile technology!
HERE IS THE SPIEL:
Device: Samsung Captivate i897 (Device is rooted)
Software: AOKP build.38
Kernel: IcyGlitch v14
CWM: Installed v.5-----
The Problem
Device stuck at AT&T Logo - Not Looping (just stuck)
Windows XP Professional SP3 (x86) with all recommended USB drivers will not detect device. Device Manager displays the phone as unknown, regardless of drivers & upon inputting it into a USB (2.0) windows displays a message "USB Device is not recognized".
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64) brings up identical message as that of Windows XP with all proper & recommended drivers with the phone recognized as "unknown"
Device boots into download mode via holding Vol.+/- and plugin in USB cable. Both Heimdall & Odin can't recognized the device when it's in UNKNOWN state by windows. Although all drivers are installed.
Purchased new Micro USB cable - NOTHING - that's testing all USB ports on all my systems.
The Story:
The device was working flawlessly being able to mount as mass storage on both my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64) & Windows XP Professional SP3 (x86) until i've upgraded to AOKP build #38. The upgrade was successful (2 months ago). 2 days ago, i decided to upgrade to AOKP build #40. The device was not recognized as mass storage but rather "Unknown Device" or "USB Device not Recognized" - although the phone was in full working condition (USB Debugging was enabled). After some reading, I realized that the AOKP build #38 has a bug where there was a problem with mounting & the camera was not functioning since it had no access to external_sd (a problem that was very irritating since the update, but i had no time to look into it until recently). I followed a similar tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545801) which required the editing of the vold.fstab file with Root Explorer, resolving the issue of external_sd becoming accessible on the phone with camera working, however unable to mount and copy the new AOKP Build 40 ROM through Windows to flash via CWM.
At this point I booted into CWM via holding volume +/- & power button. Wiped everything, and loaded a backup I've done a # of months ago where everything was working perfectly. There was an error when it was "...loading data image" which is normal, so I did it again and the error persisted. On the second attempt, it again re-sent me primary CWM menu where i was intending to now load another backup. I accidentally clicked the restart button, having already cleaned the devlick cache, etc, including user data which brought me this NIGHTMARE of problems.
I will be forever grateful the the kind soul which will help me resolve this, as I am at a phase of taking this samsung captivate and throwing it against a wall.
I assume you can still access recovery? Try putting CM9 on the external SD with a card reader, and flashing that...
EDIT: Just saw you can't access CWM... Try recovery again... all three until ATT comes up, immediately let off power... Try multiple times... Leave the battery out, hold all three, have someone else insert it, and let off power at ATT... When going into download mode, leave the battery out, hook it up, hold boths vols, and insert the battery...
The Unknown device issue....
Uninstall your drivers... Here are drivers to manually install, they are 64bit... so try right clicking the Unknown device in device manager and doing a manual driver update...

B-Naughty: Thank you. I have tried this & that no luck. Even loaded Linux Mint 13, however heimdall is being a !*&#@ in loading the firmware...Perhaps if you would know any (proper) packages for a Samsung Captivate i897 via heimdall id be grateful. I used heimdall-suite-1.3.2 command line & frontend. Will try again tomorrow. Although still haven't figured out whether or not it read the phone in Linux (it's a different world for me)
4-2ndtwin: My friend, thank you for the detailed link. I have been doing this for over 48 hours ... nothing. I'll give it another shot via Linux, if not i'll try Ubuntu. Truly am just confused out of my mind, never had this before.
PS: The phone's data is wiped & it's stuck at AT&T when loaded via power button. Booting into DOWNLOAD MODE isn't a problem. All combination to load into recovery, did not work. I mean...there must be a way! There always is...Any further ideas or should i simply through it out and buy a Galaxy SIII?
I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with option to install Bootloaders, Param, and Repartition-Heimdall One-Click
And try all of your USB cords, I don't know what you bought, but a bad one, or a lot of times an aftermarket one won't work...
Edit:
I saw you can get into download mode. So my original post doesn't help much.
Have you tried installing the Andoid SDK and downloading the nexus drivers from there? Perhaps your device now thinks it is a nexus. It might be worth a shot.

Decrapitated Samsung
Thank you all for the support.
At this point I've installed SDK Manager w/Google USB revision 6, latest Java, all proper drivers...nothing. Tried all usbs on all systems.
Q: If the phone goes into download mode, is it not in a default state and must be detected? I have a samsung galaxy tab 10.1, detects immediately. Samsung YPS3 mp3 player detects immediately - Samsung Captivate however, nothing...
I set up a clean Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit (all june 2012 updates + .Net 4.0). Installed all usb drivers...same thing, UNKNOWN DEVICE - so the usb cable works...but now when you go and manually upgrade driver via device manager, it says that the best driver for the unknown device is already installed.
Anyone want's a free captivate lol...
At this point...I dont even know what to ask...since i've tried everything. I'll try to revisit Ubuntu & Linux later this evenings and report status!
Thanks for the I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with option to install Bootloaders, Param, and Repartition-Heimdall One-Click link, i can't use it since the phone isn't detected by the application
I would say you need to uninstall any/all drivers for your captivate. This includes heimdall installed drivers. Make sure to uninstall the drivers for the "unknown" device also.

Seems as though you have a hardware problem with the phone, or a s/w problem so messed up you're down to Unbrickable Mod

He had a fresh Windows install and install drivers...
Unbrickable MOD - wont be able to do this my self, would need an electric to look into it. I mean the phone isn't bricked, it accesses download mode i just have to get it to connect via usb to be read as a "samsung composite device" to flash the bootloader. As now, it would be stuck at the AT&T screen without giving access to CWM.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 - set up java 7 - loaded Heimdall One-Click stock rom provided above via java...tried all USB's phone not detected via DOWNLOAD MODE. Phone not detected at all!
This is just insane...If it's in DOWNLOAD MODE, it should be accessible, not the contrary. Ubuntu doesn't need usb drivers, should be plug&play...Both XP & Win7Ultimate at least recognized the phone as an unknown device. On Ubuntu it does nothing at all, as if it never was plugged in.
The microusb slot on the phone is not damaged / cable is stock, also have another one from Staples. The system w/XP is reading all devices on a plug&play basis and read the captivate before flawlessly. Same applies to the Asus P43 laptop, which read the device without hesitation on Win7 Ultimate x64. The Ubuntu is now on the laptop...tried connecting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Samsung) it recognized it immediately...with full access to files etc.
Last plea for Ideas...before i'll send this captivate to hell, to where the journey isn't captivating at all!
It sounds like you have a bad flash. You need jtag to fix this issue. Contact mobiletechvideos and Josh should be able to repair it for you. I think at this point you've tried every other option.

did u try reverting back to stock using ODIN 1 Click Stock Firmware Installer? there's a tutorial on youtube by mobiletechvideos original post by connexion2005.
Samsung Captivate (ODIN 1 Click Stock Firmware Installer)
youtube.com/watch?v=UDtxnH4lFuk
I would like to have that free captivate thou :good:
Same Problem
i have the same prob and if i try to recovery mode (i.e. by pressing volume buttons and power button simultaneously)
i get following type of errors
"E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount/cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log
E:copy_kernel_file :: Can't open /cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log"
kindly sugeest some way out
I have done everything possible to get it connected and recognized by the PC & all is failing. I have tried to "manually" install the Samsung composite Device driver via "have disk method in Device Manager.
In XP:
I load device manager and than do the following:
Click Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Right click "unknown device" which is the captivate
Select Update Driver
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Select Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install. (Click Next)
Select "Have Disk" with the (show compatible devices) checked
Browse to the directory of extracted 32bit Windows XP Drivers: SGH-i897_Captivate_USB_Drivers_5_02_0_2
Select "ssadadb2.inf" & click open
And than i get the msg saying:The specified location does not contain information about your hardware
...WTF... I mean really...
Windows 7 Ultimate:
Same procedure as above until you select have disk, pick a proper x64 driver provided by XDA - also tried the Universal_Naked_Driver_Beta_0.6 ...there was progress that got me very excited - the Phone was detected as: Samsung Android Composite Device. Was I happy...until i clicked next and got this msg:Samsung Android USB Composite Device - This device cannot start. (Code10)...
There must be a solution: I had the phone bricked when i first tried to change from stock rom, managed to load it in download mode, and it was detected fine on all systems via USB with the same accessories, worked like a charm...so when this happened i wasn't concerned, as i thought id follow standard procedure, accept it did not work.
Anyone?
Let's try this since you seem to be stuck in a boot loop.
Code:
adb wait-for-device reboot recovery
Make sure your phone is plugged in and reboot it. If your machine recognizes the phone at any point in the boot process it will kick it into recovery.
Once there you can try to restore the backup again.
If this doesn't work, you will most likely need JTAG service. Because of the bad image flash your device might not "think" it is a Captivate any longer and that's why the drivers aren't working.
Red_81 :Thank You. Would you please be more specific & put into a 1,2,3...process?
1. Power off device
2. Plug in to computer
3. Open a command prompt
4. Navigate to adb.exe (android sdk or inside my kk4 root utility)
5. Enter command above
6. Boot up phone.
7. Hopefully go into recovery

Thank you. I've been endlessly fighting the achievement of the PC systems to detect the captivate & no results. Thank you all for you help...when i have time i'll JTAG this device, or probably not even going to bother and pick up a SGIII. By the way Red_81:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680048 is an amazing app, if only my phone was detected as it's recognized as unknown device, so there isn't much it can do. Although i highly recommend it to anyone else whose phone is detected.

[Q] How to unbrick my 4X - a question of life and death!

I have half-bricked P880. Bought just a week ago.
My ROM is stock V10C. I’m trying to get rid of that crap ROM, but so far without success.
I have rooted the phone but flashify is the only app saing that the phone is not rooted. Every other app which requires root is normally working. I can’t unlock the bootloader because phone can’t be recognized by any computer, using different Windows, USB cables etc. It just shows charging but PC doesn’t see any connected device. Nor the phone shows any connection option when I connect it to PC by USB.
I’ve tried to install TWRP (without success) and CWM (successfully) but the phone can’t be load into bootloader. Just an LG logo will appear and this error message:
[LGE_SECURITY ERROR] boot image signature
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002)
I think it’s still locked.
This method hasn’t help either…
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251407
What’s more, the error message appears almost every time I try to turn on the phone. Sometimes it takes 10 attempts until the phone will finally boot into Android.
Yes I’ve tried basic things like playing with USB debug mode, LG PC suite option/USB tethering… please don’t respond to my question by that kind of suggestions, I’m no rookie in flashing roms and Android problems.
Only hope for me is to flash kdz file via PC (when the phone is off and battery out). BUT I’m unable to do that, due to problem that the phone is again NOT RECOGNIZED by PC. Of course I've tried every kind of LG driver but the problem is in the phone, because the PC won’t even notify by sound that a phone has been connected to it. So I need to change the corrupted bootloader… somehow.
I’ve already searched everything to this issue on XDA and elsewhere - without any solution. So I’m 95% the phone is half-bricked without any chance to flash new ROM.
If none of those things that you said doesnt work, as last resort you should try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-4x-hd/general/s-stuck-rescue-ultimate-rescue-guide-t3012444
Thank you for a quick reply! However the autor of the method says:
i mean when you get stucked with S/W screen, and you can't flash the device in any way

In my case I can't say that I'm stuck with S/W screen. Because I don't even get in there. Any PC in my home (XP/Windows 7) don't even recognize that a mobile has been connected to it. So there is no S/W screen. The only way I can get in S/W screen is to keep the battery in, but it doesn't solve anything. Because the phone remains unrecognized to PC. Therefore I'm unable to flash anything. A simple explanation in here arose: the USB port in my phone is faulty. BUT, how that can be, when the USB charging works fine and even S/W screen appears while the battery is in?
Either way I'll keep your suggestion as the final solution(since I'm very skeptical of it and also dont have screwdriver small enought to take out those tine srews) if there will be no other responce to my problem.
I'm not very experienced in things like this, but when I was flashing kdz to my phone, my computer wasn't able to recognize the phone with battery out, so I did whole process with battery in (and it worked)
anyway if you want to unlock the bootloader you have to update to official JB (just flash JB kdz and then wipe data in LG recovery to prevent bootloop)
so first you have to connect somehow your phone in sw mode to computer
then flash JB kdz and wipe data in LG recovery (it should be back even if you've flashed twrp)
and finally root JB and unlock bootloader (for example this way I found by two clicks here at xda, just browse Optimus 4x general category: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251407 )
I hope I helped you a bit
I agree with you SuperLamic. Especially with this:
so first you have to connect somehow your phone in sw mode to computer
Click to collapse
My only hope is to flash kdz file using fastboot mode. However after days of searching on XDA, installing all kinds of drivers, trying different methods etc., I'm still unable to connect my phone to PC.
Any PC I tryied so far haven't even made a sound while pluging my LG to it. Nor it's vissible in the list of connected USB devices.
So now I'm sure that a USB port on my phone is faulty There is no other possible explanation. But thank you all for your suggestions anyway.
P.S.
There is maybe a tiny chance for workaround by unlocking the bootloader without PC. But this method doesn't work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251407 With unlocked bootloader I woud be able to solve the problem without PC. Right now I can't install TWRP nor CWM because they require bootloader to be unlocked. CWM in ROM Manager always says that installation was successful but actualy, it wasn't. Since there is always this error when I try to load recowery mod...
[LGE_SECURITY ERROR] boot image signature
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002)
EDIT:
So I find out that only JB ROMs can be unlocked. It's not possible with my stock ICS. So there is really only one solution: repair my USB port on LG to flash kdz. But I'm afraid that these days a repair will cost more than the phone itself :[

Bricked Samsung Gear Live - Please help.

Hi,
Am a novice when it comes to rooting, unlocking android devices. So please excuse my ignorance and my long-winded style of writing. I want the expert users to educate me on this issue and so I don't want to miss any trivial (or not so trivial) information.
1) So, I got Samsung gear live from ebay. It came with a sprat-userdebug 5.0.1. After googling I found out that it's a user/refurb build and can't be updated to 5.1.1
2) Thanks to rootjunky! I used Gear live restore tool V3 and unlocked the bootloader (option 2). Faced few issues in getting the driver. However, fixed everything and unlocked it. Flast TWRPd it (option 8). Flashed recovery (option 4) and bootimage (option 5). Then I sideloaded stock image from 4.4W.2 (using boot.img and system.img). That was the version I found after googling.
3) Then I tried to update it via OTA download. Download completed and it went back to recovery mode and did't apply the download. There was an error message that said something like "Unable to verify the download"
4) Tried multiple times and no luck with that
5) Then tried to sideload new version 5.1.1 LCA43 from xda wiki page. However, when my device went to recovery mode, my pc lost the connection and i wasn't able to sideload (received - device "null" not found" - error from adb command)
6) Until this point I was able to pair my device with my samsung S5 phone and only problem was not able to install the update
7) Then I reset my watch to factory setting, restarted multiple times, went to recovery mode to boot as a new device etc. No luck
8) Then I did something I shouldn't have done (or I think I shouldn't have done). Used option 7 root gear live. When the system went to SH mode, I panicked and closed the cmd prompt and hard reset the device by holding power button
9) After this step, I was not able to pair my device with my phone. Now the version says 4.4W.1 - KGW42N
10) Tried resetting my device, restarted it, used recovery mode to restart it, revoked all debug access, deleted adbkey from my PC, uninstalled android SDK, all drivers, etc. Reinstalled it again with no help.
11)Suddenly android wear in my phone sees my wifirouter as a device (strange)
11) When I plug in the device to my Pc, I could see it in my device manager. When I use recovery tool it says unregistered device and asking me to register it via my phone. Where as am not able to pair it with my phone. Tried to pair it with a new phone (moto e) and no help either
12)Somewhere read that disabling wifi in the phone before pairing works. Tried that and no luck
So here am with a bricked device that stays in the screen where it says "install android wear in your phone" and detects nothing else. Am able to go to bootloader mode, recovery mode from the device. However when it's in recovery mode, my PC doesn't detect it. Even the recovery tool says unregistered device.
Please help in unbricking this device and thank you for reading thru the whole problem. Any help would be much appreciated!
Use Gear live restore tool v2. Lots of known issues with v3
Thanks for the reply. I will try this. However, how will I make my device discoverable? Now, none of my phones detect my device.
So I guess I will get "Unauthorized Device" error when I use recovery tool. Could you please let me know if there's other way around? Or am i missing something?
I've never used it
Pretty sure all the info you need is in the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-live/development/utility-gear-live-watch-tool-t2846696
No luck. Tried V2. Tool doesn't recognize my watch. It says 'Device Unauthorized. Please check the confirmation dialog on your device'. My device is stuck in 'Install Android wear on your phone' screen.
unbricked using v2 of the tool. Now trying to update the os version. Will see if I can get lucky this time. Thanks for the help!
All is good now. Now my gear live is running on 5.1.1 with latest updates.
Good work
Please can you tell what exactly you done, as I'm on the same root.. and I'm using win 10... but without any luck so far..

Simple procedure.
Just download v2 of this tool
Make sure to install USB drivers
Unlock bootloader - option 2
Then use option 6 to flash it. Then you'll get new OTA updates.
Refer rootjunky video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7oRjESQh_o
I'm not able to pair my device with my phone. Now the version says 4.4W.1 - KGW42N,
and ... I tried V2 and V3. Tool but doesn't recognize my watch. It says 'Device Unauthorized. My device is stuck in 'Install Android wear on your phone' screen.

Follow this procedure.
1)Make sure all drivers are installed properly in your PC
2) Make sure when you connect your device to your PC, it's discovered as unauthorized device. It's ok
3) Long press power button in the device and swipe from top left to botom right corner when you see samsung gear live logo
4)This will get the device to bootloader mode
5)Now connect the device to your PC and run V2 of the tool. Your device will be discovered in fastboot mode
6)Now select option 6 to flash the device to stock. It'll flash it
7) Now swipe down to highlight start and swipe from right to left to start. If it goes to Raw dump code = 6. do a hard restart by long pressing power button. You'll get back your device in original setting.
Check rootjunky youtube video to get the live demo of this procedure.

sounds like USB driver issue. Please install correct drivers and follow the steps mentioned above. It should be unbricked.
Where can i find correct drivers? Additionally my Gear Live doesn't turn on and has only black screen.

You need to factory reset first of all. After that let connect to your wifi, the updates will download on their own. They put a new one out today. I can't go into how but if you look at the forum and search the answers are there. There's even a tool to use.

OP3T Bootloop - no way to flash new firmware?

Hello!
I am a happy owner of a OP3T 128GB version, but I've currently ran into an interesting issue . I am familiar with rooting android, fastboot, adb and stuff and I have limited experience (a begginer, but a quick learner ) with some other android phones. I hope I'm not creating a duplicit question - I am really sorry if I am, but I haven't found a solution to my problem even after hours spend behind the desk.
Long story short - accidentaly did an Advanced wiped in TWRP (3.1.1-0) and wiped my system (OS) and everything in the phone. I don't really care about the data, but checking the Sysem box in Advanced wipe menu has brought me into serious trouble it seems. Of course, I got a bootloop - my bad, right , nothing I can't fix I thought... But when I approached to try to flash a zip or .img of a system file/stock ROM respectively, I found literally no way to do so. My phone isn't recognized by my PC(s) (Windows and Mac) and I tried everything I could. The device isn't even a Qualcomm or sth. in the device manager - simply nothing, I can only get the device to charge sometimes when connected to the PC (seen in TWRP). I cannot connect an USB key to it via OTG either in TWRP to flash from there - TWRP just does not seem to know I even plugged a USB into the phone. I tried OP drivers, adb naked drivers, the phone and the PC just don't seem to be communicating at all.
The device can boot into fastboot, recovery (TWRP) and if proceeded TWRP prompts with "No OS installed" and I get a bootloop as expected. Is there any way I could try to flash the device with proper firmware? I do have the firmware and everything, I just can't seem to find a way how to flash it . I am a young student who just likes to play with tech stuff and devices and messed up and cannot help myself and I am really hopeless at this point . Any advice is greatly appriciated.
Thank you so much.

If you can flash/boot into TWRP, then probably nothing is lost. While in TWRP, if you connect your phone with PC, what happens? Do you hear the usual USB connection sound? If yes, what appears in the device manager?
Even if it doesn't appear in device manager, don't worry.
Boot into TWRP, go to storage, DISABLE MTP and enable it again. I know it sounds dumb, but just try it. It will be recognized as long as you have the proper drivers installed.
After that copy the zip of an OxygenOS based ROM like FreedomOS and flash it. Don't wipe anything. It will boot fine. I've done that a few times, never had a problem.
Thanks for the advice guys - no, no sound, nothing - as I said, I only get the charging (+) icon in twpr next to the battery percentage.
I did disable and enable MTP before - although not plugged in a pc during the process - will try if I have the chance.
One more thing that might ring a bell for someone - I tried the key combo for hard reset today(power + vol down) for a couple second and moments later I got a fuzzy (random colored pixels) screen and a red led. Weird, if you ask me.
P.S.: Today I tried to chat with OP a bit - 230 Eur for a new MB (64GB) and 255 Eur for my 128GB version - I just wanted to know, I'm still not admitting failure though. But as a student, these numbers from the support literally hurt me when reading...

1) try to update the twrp to the official 3.1.1.0. Then flash the latest modem firmware for your device and try to flash a custom rom like lineage os (a 7.x rom)
If you connect the phone to PC in TWRP and your phone is not recognized, chances are good that either your phone's USB or the cable (or the USB port on the computer) is not working. You can try to download the adb driver installer from here, just to check if your phone is listed by the installer: http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
Update - tried the MTP Enable/disable option in TWRP (in the Mount menu) while plugged into the PC, with no luck
IvanPrince - have you actually read the description of my problem? I have the 3.1.1-0 and even if not, how should I actually flash another version of twrp? The problem here is I cannot seem to find a WAY how to flash ANYTHING on the device.
I'll see about the adb drivers and update.
Thanks all,
Does the phone show up as anything on the PC when you boot to fastboot? I re-read but didn't see anything about it.
Nope - nothing. By now, I believe it is a hardware problem as the phone indeed got wet before my mistake with the advanced wipe. It appears to work just fine though, apart from the connectivity issue, so I believe the MB should be ok as everything else, including the screen is.
I just have one, perhaps a little courageous thing I'd like to ask from someone kind enough. Anyone with a Oneplus 3 or 3T who's not afraid to open the phone for a couplne minutes and has a multimeter alongside with a USB cable should be able to help me.
Could you, my awesome stranger, check where the 4 USB pins (on the side where you plug them into the PC) lead (make contact/'BEEP' on the multimeter) with the actual phone motherboard? It would REALLY help me in troubleshooting and perhaps saving 250 Eur. So far, I have this: (same color means contact) at that point. See picture.
BLACK - GND (all the heatsinks are connected to GROUND as well)
GREEN - DATA +
YELLOW - DATA -
RED - VCC
If anyone decides to open up their phone and help out a fellow xda guy, it will be greatly appriciated.
Hey Bro I was curious to know if you tried this method of recovering from a hard brick... When I first got my 3t something similar happened to me. I can't remember all the details of my hard brick but I thought I was f***ed. Please try this if you have not already.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306
Might be a dumb question, but you did remember to mount the USB when you connected the otg right?
If the bootloader is unlocked, you can save it.
I would flash the stock recovery and the latest factory image (4.1.7)
Download them both from here:
http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3t/oneplus_3t_oxygenos_4.1.7/
After flashing the stock recovery using fastboot, boot to stock recovery and sideload through ADB the stock factory image.
Reboot and after checking that everything is working fine, feel free to relock the bootloader if you wish to stay 100% stock.
If the computer doesn't recognize it at all then it's a driver problem, not the phone... at least that's what I think.
try to use the program to fix my oneplus 3t it said download complete. try to restart
try to use the program to fix my oneplus 3t it said download complete. try to restart it and can press the screen and it keep rebooting it like the screen is frozen
please help me out

[Fix] [Guide] Device not showing in Fastboot or MSM Tool (Windows)

I recently had these issues with Windows not having the correct drivers even after installing the oneplus drivers
Since I could not easily find these solutions I thought I should share them here so that it may be easier to find for anyone who needs it
The first problem is OnePlus 6T not showing in MSM Tool and showing in device manager as QUSB_BULK_CID:xxxx_SN:xxxxxxxx
The solution I found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-unlock-verizon-oneplus-8-5g-uw-in2019-bootloader.4409377/
is this :
Enter EDL mode with adb reboot edl or by powering the phone off and holding both volume up and down while connecting it to a PC
Next Open device manager and if you see "QUSB_BULK_CID:xxxx_SN:xxxxxxxx"
try to update the driver, it will not find one but choose the option to search Windows Update
It should open your settings to the Windows update page
You can open this manually and you should see the option to View Optional Updates
select “Qualcomm Incorporated - Ports - 3/25/2016 12:00:00 AM - 2.1.2.2” and install it.
This should install the correct driver, replacing “QUSB_BULK_CID:xxxx_SN:xxxxxxxx” with "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" in device manager
After this I thought I had solved my problems but then the OP6T was not showing in fastboot
I eventually found my solution here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ng-up-in-fastboot-mode-windows-10-11.4194491/
The issue is because of OnePlus having unsigned drivers and windows refusing to use them unless you disable driver signature enforcement
I recommend following the linked guide for this problem as the solution is identical for the 6T as well as the 8T, I couldn't write it any better and I wouldn't want to just copy their guide
But it essentially is as simple as disable driver signature enforcement and install the correct drivers with device manager so your device will show in fastboot

Per chance, would you know if this would also apply to the OnePlus One on Linux? I recently tried to gain root access but no matter what I did, I could not get the device to show up in fastboot or as an ADB device, for that matter. I tried both USB 2.0 ports and 3.0 ports, to no avail. It's obviously not my daily driver (based on release dates, etc.) so it's not a big deal but at the same time, I don't want to root my daily driver as it has enough trouble on stock OS as it is (Google Pixel 6 Pro). I don't need to go rooting it and introducing a whole new world of hurt, thus, the desire to root my recently resuscitated OnePlus One (I got it stuck in a boot loop one or maybe even two years ago but it wasn't my daily driver then, either and just kind of a tinker device, one of a couple at that. So rather than put in the minimal amount of effort to fix it, I just tossed in a drawer until a future need demanded that I give it the time and attention necessary, which happened to occur the other night. All went super smoothly until I hit this particular roadblock alluded to above while trying to gain root using Bacon Root Toolkit. Admittedly, I haven't tried going the old-fashioned route of gaining root but mostly because I couldn't get my computer to recognize that the device was connected to it, so that was no more an option than was going the easy route with BRT.)
Edited to mention that I successfully got it out of the boot loop by flashing cm12 and that booted up no problem. I also have TWRP installed, which actually may need updating as it was the version originally installed however many years ago prior to getting it stuck in the boot loop and subsequently getting the junk drawer treatment for 1-2 years but to my knowledge that would not cause the device to not be recognized as a fastboot/ADB device...

I am not exactly sure about this but I recommend you try what is suggested here if you haven't https://technastic.com/oneplus-usb-drivers-windows-mac-linux/
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

to my knowledge the recovery you have installed should not effect your device being recognized in fastboot mode
You should probably update your recovery to the latest official twrp imo
