[L7] Tip: force reboot/battery pull alternative - Optimus L3, L5, L7 General

Instead of pulling the battery, hold the power button for about 12 seconds then release and your phone should force reboot.
Disclaimer: this works on my P705 with slimkat I'm not sure if it works with other ROMs/Phone models.

[Q] Shutdown App Vs Normal Shutdown

Hi,
I sometimes feel the need do a power cycle especially when messing around with tweaks and when my phone starts to feel laggy. I read somehere that it is better to do a power cycle ( Power Off then power On ) rather than doing a reboot.
I find that powering off o2x via the stock power off menu takes sometime to finally..well... turn off (10sec or more).
But when I use Quick Reboot app to power off my device.. its an almost instant *poof*, device is off.
Is there a difference between how stock power off behaves while shutting down the device; other than the silly LG logo which adds up to the delay of shutting down, comparing with the use of an app, eg. Quick Reboot? Because i don't want to get corrupt files and FCs just because I don't use the power off menu.
Thanks!

[Q] touchpad CM9 a0.5 switch on issue

Dear all, I just update my touchpad form CM7 A3.5 to CM9 A0.5.
After updating, comes the switch on problem, the details as blow:
In CM7 A3.5 system, I can shut down and switch on the touchpad with power button as normal, it also means the power button works.
When I update to CM9 A0.5(the updating is successful), I found USB connect problem, so I want to restart touchpad to solve it. As we know, in CM9 system, when press the power button, only shut down selection. So I shut down touchpad. When I press the power button to restart touchpad again, there is no response. the touchpad did nothing. even press main button and power button together. I do not know what happened.
Update: the most probably caused this is I use plustoolbox to change the boot animations.
Is this only a special case? Or could be my failure.
Update information:
After keep my touchpad after 20 hours, I try to switch on it again, the power button works, but just show low battery(by last shut down, it should be 50% battery left), so I charger it. After a while, touchpad started and gone into CM9 system and works. But when I shut down again, the touchpad can not switch on again. I do not know this time I should wait how long time then it can work again.

You can force a restart by holding the power and center buttons together for 30 seconds.
Thank you for replying.
I have tried but failed.
now the second round is
In shut down status, after 24 hours, the battery can from 100% reduce to low battery.
In this status, I can charger and start touchpad.

I'm not currently using the ICS build, but I would then suggest doing a complete reinstall of CM9 through acme installer. Make sure to uninstall the current build that you have on their.

Power Button Reboot; Emulate Battery Pull

I have been stuck in a spot that I needed to use the battery pull emulation of holding the power button down and waiting for a reboot. Mine just does not work! I can have the phone on, press and hold the power button, the 3 second countdown notification appears, and upon reaching 1 second, it just sits there no matter how long I keep the power button depressed without ever rebooting.
I'm posting about this because I've seen many users that are in the same boat as I am, and I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to make this work.
My problem is documented here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40950471
Is this a hardware issue? Does anyone have any ideas for us unlucky few that this very important function does not work for?
I am on stock, odexed, rooted, 64GB dev edition (1.29.1540.3) on AT&T network. I have installed only one mod...homeslice's 'bkbtnmenu.zip' which pushed a Settings.apk over the stock Settings.apk while deleting the stock Setting.odex file. I'm not saying that this mod caused any problems whatsoever...just trying to give detailed information.

I don't know if this will help anything, but here is a logcat.
I started the logcat and pressed power button simultaneously. I held the power button for about 20 seconds, released and stopped log.
Hold it for ten seconds then release.

(CAN I )Power on without a power button?

Hello, well as of yesterday my N7000's power button started acting up, first i got lots of sudden reboots (probably the 8-second powerbutton hardware reboot) and a few hours later my power button stopped working al-togetter.
I've seen some youtube videos where people with the same defect-powerbutton (tho on another samsung device) show how to turn on their device by plugging it in the usb charger and emediatly press volume down+ the home button.
My device is still turned on but it'd be a bit tricky to try that out myself.
I am curious if that works on our devices too, if anyone could test this method; thank you so much.
Any other methods/advice is very welcome
Kind regards.
(Device is running android 4.4.4: Omnirom)
try this (works for me) : place battery in the phone, hold (and keep held) vol - button and insert usb.. it should take you to the warning screen before download mode, where you can press vol - to reboot.

CyanogenMod 11 screen problems [d415]

All the time, my phone with a CyanogenMod 11 ROM made for D415 model, has a problem turning on the screen. Tapping the power button or home button once doesn't work. Sometimes I have to repeatedly tap the home button many times to turn on the screen if I'm lucky, or if it doesn't turn on at all, I have to reboot it by holding down the power button for so long. Is there a fix for this? Sometimes when I need to use my phone the most, it won't turn on the screen and it's frustrating.
Also, since I have CyanogenMod 11, can I flash a kdz file back to stock 10c/10e or whatever?
