Telstra claiming Sony has withdrawn 4.3 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have tried to find some credible info but have not been successful as of yet.
Basically Telstra having still not released 4.3 for the Sony Xperia Z has at the last minute (due release date was 7th of Feb) turned around and said Sony has withdrawn the 4.3 update.
I have contacted Sony and got a very quick reply from the Sony Xperia Contact Centre basically saying they have no clue as to why Telstra would not be rolling out the update, and they continue on to say it is a global rollout from them and then it is up to the network to test and rollout from there.
Is this withdrawn excuse viable?

UK X Z update status

What's the current latest official firmware for UK unbranded z?
There doesn't seem to be any threads active on it anymore.
Is the UK still officially on. 434?

We've been forgotten. Who knows when O2 will let us update.

It is odd, isn't it? I know people like to moan about late updates and whatever, but unlocked owners are now two iterations behind everyone else and I do wonder whether 02 have just forgotten to press the switch? I've had a look at the 02 support pages and there's quite a few people not tied to a network asking them to push the update because they won't get theirs until after that point - trouble is, there's a lot of confusion because everyone assumes that unlocked phones get their update first, and I'm still not sure I quite understand why that isn't the case here? Can anyone illuminate me?
My hope is that we skip 434 and go straight to 307?
if anything it will go straight to .407 which is 4.2.2

I hope you're right, but I'm preparing myself to get .434 when everyone else gets the big update. Any idea, incidentally, why unbranded are last to get updates, which seems counter-intuitive?
mine came with .434
its more a case the uk is last as Belgium unbranded devices have .307, it probably gets rolled out region by region unless bugs/issues are found, same with Samsung, it was nearly always a case of new roms were rolled out in germany first then it got rolled out elsewhere in the world

But UK networks (other than 02) are already on .307 and they've had to do testing, so surely unbranded should be released earlier, not later (as testing for bloatware compliance isn't required?)
Really don't get the UK update policy makes no sense really just annoying now

Well, your original point may be valid. Could we have been forgotten?

Yes, it's just 02 who haven't released it over here and apparently that is somehow delaying the release to unbranded phones, although I'm not entirely sure why...

Yes, I know. I guess I'm wondering whether this is accident (they've forgotten, somehow) or design (there's a reason for it?)

Well I've checked with there online support twice both times with the standard rollout reply but surely someone would have raised the issue with uk updates being behind with a higher management. So more likely design.
It's not the lack of updates that bothers me but the lack of an explanation or reason why the uk unbranded are left out

If I'm honest, I don't even know what we're missing out on. Better battery and wifi connectivity, I think - any idea what else?

Better camera, Wi-Fi, battery ( varies though), black on screen buttons
Faster and smoother animations apparently as well
Must importantly a better screen calibration, I've played with a z on .253 and the screen is so much better

I have a SIM free unlocked Z from Sony, using it on three UK. I'm also still on . 434 with no updates showing. Oh well.

question about xperia z...

Im on T-Mobile and will be going to a Sony store locally to possibly buy a Z. I have a Galaxy S4 currently and are tired of Samsung phones and total lack of updates from t-mobile so I will be selling it. The Sony store sells both the US unlocked version and the t-mobile version. The unlocked version has been updated, right? And receives updates directly from Sony? The t-mobile has not been updated yet? Also does the unlocked version get HSPA+ so data is fairly fast?
Thanks for the help

Yes on all of your questions. I'm not sure if it gets HSPA+42, but it will get 21 at least.
alternately all official sony updates will be available to dowload here on xda faster that it will get pushed to you. unless you're the first one getting it

[Q] Smart Call Handling on the T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1s

Can anyone who has the T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1s confirm whether or not this phone ever got the update that gives it Smart Call Handling capability?
If so, did the phone come with it or was it made available because of the update? Please give details.
Thank You,

Image distortion update/November Security Patches USA model

Hey Guys,
Anyone using the XZ1 compact in the USA (American version, certified for T-Mobile) that has received the latest firmware from Sony? It's been 3 weeks and I haven't seen an update pushed to my phone as of yet. Sony support is of no use, and it's really frustrating. Appreciate anyone's input.
Nothing received here yet (Consumer Cellular as AT&T MVNO). Would appreciate the camera fix, as the camera's barrel lens distortion, among other things, really disfigures faces towards the edges of the frame!
I think the rollout of the 47.1A.5.51 was paused because there was another firmware release right behind it.
47.1.A.7.1 has been released in Germany, so presumably there will be a USA release of the new build soon.
This has the camera fix and also Decembers security updates

Thanks for the reply. Maybe your right. The Sony rep told me a new release was upcoming addressing the bluetooth issues.

It has security updates marked as 1st of November, not December.
Camera fix is there and is working pretty well.

Oppo Reno4 Pro 5G weird problem

Hello,
I have the phone in title, got it second hand from FB marketplace, the phone is from UK and Oppo global confirmed is genuine product that is still in warranty. Problem is that software is CPH2089CPW_11_A.35, December 05 security and doesn't update at all. I cannot find any software on Oppo site with CPW, from what is CPW anyway? UK version of software gives error when I try to install it. Please help, not even Oppo Hello guys can help me with this, they told me to send it in service with proof of purchase.
Looks like is from an operator called Carphone Warehouse, I contacted them, this can be closed.
Hello I still have problems with this unit, doesn't update at all, I'm stuck at CPH2089CPW_11_A.35, December security, I even tried VPN to different countries, doesn't update. Please help!
VPN should work actually. Just don't be on wifi when on VPN.
Otherwise try wiping data to get the update. See thread below for options.
Did you receive Android 11/ColorOS 11 ?
Hi guys ! Did anyone received the lastest Android update with package name CPH2091_11_C.01 with Android 11 ? It is said to have been officially released in Australia the 16th of December, but as far as I know, there's absolutely no information...
