Galaxy note3 menu & back key problem - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I have a problem with my galaxy note3 n900t. My menu and back key is not working when i touch them with my fingers but they work whit the s pen! Anyone with the same problem or a solution?
Thx

Someone else mentioned something similar, however insufficient information makes it hard to help much. I had an issue with original note and it was the rom. Tried other roms? Are you rooted? Stock? Custom rom?

The problem started on the stock rom. The key would not light up and they would not respond on my fingers just my s pen... this was the first phone that i liked on a stock rom haha... but i rooted it in hoppe that it would solve the problem.... i installed the wicked v5 rom... but still nothing... i called the service and they never heared about a problem like that... haha... but they sad that i had to repair the hole thing (digitizer,display...) not just the buttons... so not a cheap thing to do... so thats about everything....

This just happened with my note 3. Not sure if it was after I rooted or it just happened randomly.

Try another clean install of stock. I would suggest putting it to stock and if the issue persists going through samsunh warranty. If the issue was ocurring on stock it is most likely defective. Goodluck

Mine is a t-mobile..I think it was fine until I rooted it..but I am not sure as I only just got the phone, so maybe it stopped working before I rooted. I have tried reflashing the stock firmware...no improvement. The only thing I havne't tired is updating it to 4.4.2

Does anyone has an idea about this problem? This just started today and it's bugging me to no end!
Cheers!

menu key & back key not working when i flesh stock lollipop 5.0
at&t galaxy note 3 sm-n900a back key and menu key are not working after update lollipop 5 0 same problem here but when i install other custom rom then both key are work but when i install lollipop 5.0 then its not work if any one this problem try to flesh other rom hop its work :good:

Hi same here the buttons only works with the spen, help please stock firmware 5.0

Did anybody find a solution to this? I just tried rooting my note 3 and it all went fine but now my menu and back button do not work at all with my fingers but works fine with spen. Really hope somebody knows what to do!

Would you press *#2663# and tell me what you show under TSP FW? see if the phones touch key FW version is same as Parts touch key FW, try to update all of them if its work great if not let me know so we can upgrade your keys.

So my problem is that only my menu key doesn't work. Just changed the screen/frame. Works with always with the pen and some time when I tap it. Back key works fine. On rooted 5.0. Touch key fw does match at fx10

[Q] Stupidly deleted stock camera app, what now ?

I've had my Samsung Galaxy Note for 2 weeks or so and loving it but just after getting the thing setup just right I played about just that bit too much.
Using Titanium I thought I'd get rid of some stock apps and deleted the camera so now have no camcorder. I am happy to download alterantive but there is nothing out there better than the stock video camera function.
I have tried to restore from back up but still no joy. Can someone guide me through how to re-flash to get the phone back to factory state with all the standard apps so I can start again.
I have odin but scared I'll flash the wrong file and brick the phone. I have read on this forum someone who did the same and they fixed it through doing this but can't seem to fine the thread now.

Go to developers and get your stock rom from dr. Ketans thread.

OTA ICS upgrade made my phone laggy

Hello,
I've installed the ics update of htc. Since then my phone is crazy laggy and slow. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'll probably do a factory reset, and if nothing works I ll go for custom roms. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can try before these.
Thanks!

It's best if you flash custom roms. It really unleashes the true power of the Incredible S. You see stock software from HTC isn't optimized. And when xda gods like mike1983 (i think) create roms like arhd, you will experience true power

Thanks for the answer! I'm interested in doing that, but I use only linux and I see most of root s-off stuff needs a Windows PC, and for hboot 2.02, there is no straightforward guide yet. If I find a nice guide JUST for linux (and for hboot2.02), I'll sure do it.

Doesn't sound ok, my device became much faster and more responsive... A factory reset should help... Otherwise you could try disabling useless stuff you'd never use anyway.
Yeah, you should try the factory reset and you will slightly better than before formatting.

Flash the RUU for your phone, and then Reset it.
I did it that way and it was fast.
I ve read a bit about ruu, but it still seems to need windows machine. I would install a custom rom if I had windows. By the way, how do you find the ruu? Do you get it from HTC?

I flashed RUU but did not reset it. Most of the time phone is slow. Does factory reset after RUU really does the trick?
I am kind a sick of reinstalling my apps, because I allready did 2 resets after first OTA, downgrade to 2.3.5 and new OTA (before RUU become availible) and after that - 4.0.4 RUU. Perfomance stays the same - slow.
Disable that weird office app that came with this update, I think that may solve your problem. At least it worked for me!! I'm using Documents to go anyway so I didn't need it

Hey Guys,
I had updated my HTC Incredible S recently and found ICS was great but had major problems as phone became "laggy" and took more than 16 seconds to get back to Home Screen after hitting the Home Icon.
I did search for the solution on google and found the trick mentioned by Luckyone199 in the link as mentioned below:-
androidforums.com/htc-incredible-s/580085-all-about-ics-htc-incredible-s-ice-cream-sandwich-update-rolling-out-now.html#post4751371
And guess what.... it worked wonders!!
Just go to DEVELOPER OPTIONS under Settings and UNCHECK ''DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES'' on bottom of the menu.
It just worked great and now my phones is ultra-fast and I able to make the best of what ICS had to offer.
It should work for other phones too. Thanks to Luckyone199. Please do try it and post back so it will be helpful for others too. Thanks Guys

Hey Buddy,
Try to keep the "Background process limit" to Standard Limit and Uncheck "DONT KEEP ACTIVITIES" and then restart your phone. Please do reply if this worked. Thanks
It's strange that some get laggy experience and some get much better performance after the ICS upgrade... My phone is blazing fast compared to gingerbread. Don't forget that Sense 3.6 is heavier... Browsing, running apps and even 3D performance have improved! In Modern Combat 3 there's a huge difference!!1
Have they improved the qualcomm drivers or is just ICS more tweaked for games & hardware acceleration???

[Q] Upgrading to ICS has lost me my signal :(

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange, UK. I've only had it a week because I bought it off my brother. I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and although it seems fine, there is no signal at all, EVER. Although it get's wireless Internet! And the SIM isn't damaged in any way, so it is definitely a software issue. The Internet is a bit strange, because it is coming from my network, not Wi-Fi (it's off, as is bluetooth).
I'm liking ICS, but obviously I need a signal. It was easy to upgrade, I just booted from the zip I placed in the bootloader. But I can't downgrade the same way. I've tried looking for old Gingerbread files, but can't find any! All the Depositfiles.com links are dead. So, ideally I would like to stick to ICS and find a signal fix, failing that I guess it's a downgrade that I need?
Or should I upgrade to Jellybean?
I couldn't find anything on people having similar problems with network loss, but I'm 99.99% certain it is the software causing the issue.
Thanks for reading.

I'm downloading DarkyROM now, but it's going to take 2 hours! Is this the right way to flash a modem? I've not done it before.
Hi
I had a similar problem on my old SGSI. I flashed an ics rom (don't remeber the name) and everything worked apart from the network so no phone calls and no internet apart from with Wifi. Anyway i googled the problem and tried loads of different solutions. After flashing more roms i ended up with the DarkyROM_v11.0_black_edition with the 3.0.17-semaphore_ics_1.2.5s kernel.
This didn't help either. In a last minute test at the end of what felt like the longest day in my life i checked to find that i had damaged one of the contact pins that read the sim card. I bent it back and everything has worked since then. And it's worked well!
Thanks, it was the modem needed flashing! Very simple too I also downgraded to Gingerbread which is faster.
Thanks everyone :cyclops:

[Q] Please Help Troubleshoot - Unresponsive Touchscreen

I have a Galaxy S Advance that I purchased in Hong Kong, although I live in the United States. The phone has been working very well on T-Mobile's network for over one year. The phone is running stock gingerbread. I have never flashed any roms.
Yesterday, the phone's touchscreen stopped working. I didn't drop it, and it didn't get wet. It just suddenly stopped allowing touch input. I thought that it might be a software issue, so I booted into recovery and did a factory reset. After re-booting, the phone still isn't responding to touch.
What else can I do to check whether this is a software problem?
Should I try flashing the stock firmware? If so, how do I know which PDA number to use?
Thank you!
Or you could go to the local store with your phone cuz I think this has nothing to do with the firmware...

Can a firmware error cause this problem? I'd love to take it into the shop, but as I said I purchased it in Hong Kong. I live in the US. I suppose I may have to mail it back, but was hoping someone may have some advice.
All of the buttons at the bottom are responsive to touch, but the screen is not.

I guess it's an error in the screen. Or else, try flashing JellyBean XXLQ4 on your device using Odin and the USB Cable. And if THAT doesn't do it. Use CoCore Kernel ( root required ), I read it improves the sensitivity of the touchscreen so you may try that. If that doesn't work, boot into recovery ( volume up + home + power ) and make the reset and cache wipe and flash JB XXLQ4 again. Then go to the nearest phone store, act as if you never tried to install a kernel or rooted ur phone and look if they can find the problem. If found, send to hongkong.
*Edit: added link to JB firmwares. You need the Ser LQ4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110245

Thank you for the advice. Will upgrading to JB via Odin void the warranty? I know that JB hasn't been officially released in Hong Kong yet. Does Samsung care?
Nope. This JB is stock firmware so it can not void your warranty here in Holland I also had some problems, went to samsung with the JB ( which is not yet released ) and it wasn't a problem.

Do not, and I repeat, do not forget to root your phone before you flash the CoCore Kernel. You can root using Shaaans method. It's found in the Dev section and it's quite simple.
Let me know if it worked out

This is a noob question, but if I use the wrong PDA version will it brick the phone? From what I've read it seems that moving to JB is fine even if it's software from a different country (Serbia/Russia). What if I flash the "wrong" country's gingerbread version?
Again, thank you all for the answers. This is very helpful.

Once you've been on JB you wouldn't want sh*tty old GB back haha. Uhmm there is a tutorial about reflashing GB 2.3.6 on the Q&A section, I will search the link and edit this post when I find it
*Edit: Link to downgrade tut is here. It works for all languages / regions, as long as your phone is an 8GB device and not 16GB ( thats for this method ). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100642
*Edit2: just follow the steps described in the topics about the 4.1.2 or do some googling, most of the time there is a specific description with the files.

claim your warranty first, if you have international warranty.. this might be a hardware problem..
for all you said, it suddenly lost touch function..
point is.. let the service center figure out first the cause of the problem before trying to solve it on your own..
after that, you can try JB firmware and modifying it to alot of stuff..
