[Q] Will factory recovery on bootloader securely delete my data? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
As my phone cannot boot properly and the only screen I can get to is the bootloader screen (Power + Volume Down). I'm going to send my phone to get it fixed but I also have some pictures and data that I want to delete. Will factory reset or clear cache or any of the option on bootloader will securely delete all my data?
Best

if you have a stock recovery, or you are unrooted, this will do the job I did it several times.... so go for it... it'll delete all data including sdcard when using stock recovery and being unrooted !

How to reset Galaxy Note?

What are the possible resetting?
Soft Reset, hard reset, etc...
And how do I do them?
WIll they harm the OS in anyway?
I want to clean the device after testing it so it will be clean when it is given as a gift.
Put it back in the state as it was (hard reset).
Possible in the menu (Settings/Privacy), or: Take the sim out, and than *2767*3855#
can someone tell me the difference between hard reset and soft reset
various methods by which you can do it
guys can you also tell me in which reset i will get the note as it was out of the box
also please tell me when i do this reset my current stock rom (LB2) will be revereted to kl3 or i will be in lb2
i am noob
thanks
Soft reset is nothing just removing background application/process. As you just reboot your device.
Hard reset, wipe off your data, n will b just as out of box.
you can do with
1. setting - privacy - factory data reset (if you select format USB storage, then only data on USB storage will be wiped, as such no needed)
2.From recovery, Vol up + home + power - select wipe data
Hard reset won't revert back to previous ROM, it will same ROM which is you have right now. To revert back to old ROM, you need PC Odin.
dr ketan
thanks for your answer
one more question will backup with your kies will be sufficient to restore all the data
after hard reset

I have neber used kies for this purpose
you can use My Back up (non rootable version) to backup data.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackup&feature=search_result
It will have less set of function for non rooted note.
volume up+home+power button doesnot work why
2.From recovery, Vol up + home + power - select wipe data

May have a easier way...but you can do this:
- Shut down your phone
- Hold the buttons Vol up + Home + Power
- You will enter in recovery stock mode
- Select wipe data/factory reset
- Select wipe cache
- Reboot system now
Doing this steps your phone will return in factory pattern.
Wait a better suggestion....sorry my bad english
Edited: Remembering that this method delete all your user data!

Apply cwm
Make a backup
Wipe data / factory reset
Go to Backup and Restore
Advanced Restore
Restore /data
Reboot
Try this metod

Can't access CWM recovery anymore

Hello,
Here is my problem, wanting to flash a theme on my Xperia Z, I had to perform a cache cleaning, this one was unusually long (~5minutes), so I brutally shut down the phone via power + volume up.
I wasn't aware of:
Phone hangs when cleaning cache?
Just leave it for a few minutes, it's needs some time to clean cache

Unfortunately it is now impossible for me to get back to the recovery (LED turns green but does not change to purple while holding volume up).
I already tried:
- Reinstall CWM recovery
- Install TWRP recovery hoping "overwrite" CWM (does not work either)
- Uninstall TWRP recovery
- Use the "reboot in recovery" option via clockworkmod and application TWRP (just reboot the phone normally)
edit:
- I now tried to do a factory reset but it's not working, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though...
Having no other ideas I think it would be best to totally remove CWM recovery (via adb ?) and then reinstall it "properly"
Thanks
Update: Just tried to do a factory reset via settings but I doesn't work, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though. Is there any other way to do a factory reset so I can go back to normal ?
Thanks

Factory reset developer edition

I am getting errors on my phone and want to factory reset. What is the best method to do this? I have rooted developer edition.
There's always factory reset on the settings menu. Or use RSD Lite to flash the current firmware.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
I've never had great success with the Factory Reset in the settings menu.
I would use the option in Recovery. Turn the phone off and enter recovery by holding Power and VOL DOWN for about 4-5 seconds. Release and navigate with VOL DOWN button. If you go past an option, keep tapping VOL DOWN to cycle through again. VOL UP is "enter", power shuts the phone off.
Press VOL Down to get to Recovery and then press VOL UP to select it. Your phone will boot into recovery and you will see a dead android icon (chest open). When you see this, press both VOL UP and VOL DOWN together and release. You will then see options in recovery for performing a factory reset.

Several ways...
Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory Data Reset
Boot the phone in fastboot/bootloader mode, from the PC... fastboot erase userdata
Boot into recovery, and reset from there (in TWRP its under Wipe)
Thanks, had to flash stock because the other methods still left phone with issues.
That's what I always do. Wipe everything in fastboot, flash in fastboot.

Try to boot into recovery (turn off your phone, and then press the power button + volume down for like 3 seconds), then wipe cache and dalvik cache.
