How do I update rooted butterfly S to Android 4.3 - HTC Butterfly S

Hello ,
I currently have a rooted HTC Butterfly S with Android 4.2 and the Maximus HD custom ROM installed. I want to update my phone to Android 4.3 to install some of the newer custom roms. I have no idea how to go about doing this and I don't wanna brick my phone .
I found a link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422783 ) to download the stock ROM with 4.3 Android , will flashing it automatically update it?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

The stock 4.3 ROM won't update your firmware (hboot, radio and all the other stuff). You can update that manually even without S-OFF, I've written the instructions multiple times in this forum.
If you install the 4.3 stock ROM and then some other 4.3 ROM, you will accomplish exactly the same thing as if you simply installed the other 4.3 ROM straight away. In other words, installing the 4.3 stock ROM doesn't make any difference at all if you intend to install something else anyway.

ahh I get it. I can't seem to be able to find those instructions that you've posted , tried checking your profile but couldn't find anything.
would also like to clarify , I want to install this custom rom on my butterfly s ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557441) however I saw that it says Android 4.3 ,will I be able to install it on my phone which is running on android 4.2.2?

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't, but just to be on the safe side, always take a nandroid backup before installing anything. If it does not run, try to install the latest firmware as explained in the post linked above and try again.

For the moment I'm using a rooted 1.37 stock ROM. Flashing the official OTA update doesn't work because of error 7. Now, if I use one of your update.zip, will I be able to perform the update after all?
And if a do the update with the rooted update.zip, will i have the same advantages as if i would have performed an offial update, such as speed performance and apps2sd? Because I have realy no idee what "no radio" etc means
Thanks in advance!

I also have that question. What is radio? Do I need it? My OTA update was named "OTA_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1-1.37.405.1_release_160253md3o2yhu6sxs3txn.zip". Does it contain radio? Also are your RUUs equivalent with my official OTA update? Because the last part of the name is missing and I don't even know what it is supposed to stand for.
Thank you for the RUUs. I hope they work for me too.
BTW how do you make them? :-D
can we update from recovery menu?
and what about radio? does it work the old radio (1.37) with the new 2.2? thank you

I have already run the RUU of this version. I cannot root it now. Any idea how to root it? unrevoked does not work
Hello guys!
I've installed Rooted ver. sucessfuly. Unfortunately I can't overclock my phone over 528 Mhz - which is a standrad. Previously I was using standard Android with HCDR.Kernel v4.1 and my phone was runing 768 MHz smothly. I updated my setCpu to the lastest ver. but it didn't help at all.
What should I do to overclock my phone on newer android? Do I need to download other ROM or Kernel? Any thoughts?
Regards Jacko

You cant root it anymore, till Unrevoked updates their program.
I have a problem with this rooted rom. Instaling apk file from market, titanium backup.. phone crash system and restart. Before flashing i wipe data, instaling latest radio. Do you know apk instaling problem decision. Removes sdhc card and instaling apk aslo restarting.
Thanks from South Africa for the good work!!! Helped me get froyo on my Wildfire before the useless networks here roll it out.
Thanks again!
Any update on rooting this RUU ?

[Q] Want to install OTA but...

First of all, I'm a total noob in HTC world (coming from samsung and nexus line). HTC One is my first HTC device. I'm really in need of a detailed explanation right now, and I know my kind of topic might have been posted somewhere in this forum but believe me, I've done so much research (google-ing, searching on XDA forum) most of them is quite 'off-topic' and not exactly as what I need to do.
So here's my noob question...
I'm on STOCK rooted HTC One atm, with software number of 1.29.707.3 and using ElementalX kernel. Got TWRP recovery installed. And I want to install and OTA update of 1.29.707.16... So what do I need to do actually? I know custom recovery can't be use to install OTAs so, does reflashing the stock recovery and removing root will make this work? or do I need to do the total "going back to stock" step like relocking bootloaders etc? It's driving me nuts searching for this kind of solution...
You need to install the stock recovery and kernel (just in case) and you're good to go.

the kernel is not mandaroty right?
Is a correct ota for each region required, or can we flash any? For example could I flash any ota on my Australian one?

OTAs are restricted to their CID's so don't go around flashing OTA's from phone on a different region
Right. thanks for the reply bro.

answer is no.
Only other way is unlocking bootloader via htc dev and install some 4.2.2 based rom (not including firmware/radio)

This is a question that would be better directed at HTC. Sofar, HTC hasn't released any RUUs for this phone. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, we have no way of knowing in advance.
However, there is a dump of the stock ROM and the stock recovery available over in the Android Development section which should be enough for you to return to stock; there's not much point in flashing anything else on this phone (and you most probably won't even be able to).
