Chrome on Nexus 7

Has anyone noticed that the chrome browser on the n7 is not as smooth as the chrome browser on the n4? Fortunately for me I have the AOSP browser and use that instead. Its just too bad because I really wanna use chrome as my default browser on my n7.

I think because nexus 7 uses desktop client instead of mobile client on nexus 4. That's why it's slow.

I don't know why people find Chrome on various devices laggy. It's never been laggy with me, sans the early beta builds.
And NO, Chrome on tablets do not use desktop client, it uses a different layout.

Chrome works fine for me too, no I don't run stock rom

Agreed on Chrome not being as smooth as AOKP. I notice it the most when scrolling down the pages. I've found Dolphin Beta to be on par with AOSP browser.

I run stock on my Nexus 7, and AOKP on my GNex, and they're both pretty smooth.

I have been considering going back to stock. I'm running PA with the Franco kernel currently.

Stock feels so solid and reliable.

It does the job. I only use it to look up some stuff once or twice a day, and for that it works fine.
And this is why I am using AOSP browser
It seems to work good for me unless I'm on a site with a lot of pics... ie thechive.com. Aosp browser never has problems tho.

Just use Boat Browser and save yourself the crappiness of chrome

Kit Kat 4.4.1 Cast?

Anyone play around with the new option in 4.4.1? Could be related to the new build on stock CC?

False alert.... I think its just for wireless display...miracast. The menu options used to be somewhere else. But I'm on Owned cast and not the build that came out yesterday.

Gnome 3 as webapp(ipk to be uploaded shortly)

So I have always thought gnome 3 would be a great tablet interface for big tablets and I found a port of gnome 3 wrote in JavaScript and available to test and use on a webpage(that I'll share later).
So I took the Google Music Wrapper and modified it to get a full screen experience, and since its wrote using enyo you can scroll on Firefox and through the app drawer instead of tapping on the scroll bar.
At the moment I'm running it on his server, but I plan with help of any developer to build the packages for webos and create a server on the touchpad so you can have the OS native.
The ipk I have created will be uploaded shortly to test(when I get home), the cool thing is you don't need to multiboot because its an application!
If any developer wants to help please PM me.

Sorry I haven't posted the APK yet, I'm working on bringing this natively instead of a webapp. If I can't get it working with C++ and internal storage, then I'll just make a java webapp.

Gnome 3 beta 1.0 for android added to second post.
I will work on this further. Only works for Android Tablets and Netbooks.
Shows a Full screen button when ran on phones. I'll try and fix this later.

I have no issues on my linux laptop and the chrome plugin. (ElementaryOS x64). Have you tried uninstalling the plugin, and re-installing it?

Some kind of firewall issue?
Just to be certain, other devices can detect/use Chromecast on the same network?

Is your computer and your mobile devices on the same subnet? I know in my house all of my desktops/servers are on a different subnet, so the chromecast extension does not work on them.
Yes

Now my phone will play videos to the chromecast but all input is delayed 30 seconds

Delay is normal especially if transcoding is going on.
As for the Fedora Linux, Try disabling Firewall and see if that works, If it does then you need to open up some ports for Multicast, UPnP and maybe a few others.

Streaming using Chromecast

Hi,
I have a chromecast and was showing my friend as he was thinking of getting a smart TV but would consider alternatives.
He watches Man Utd games and streams them all.
I was trying to see if I could do that with mine but had no joy, as the game appears in a pop up.
Is it possible?
Cheers

If using android then yes, I do the same thing but using a app called torrent stream, would use the website wiziwig for my links or the app itself for live sports channels. Using an app called bubbleupnp I can cast to my chromecast. This does exactly what your friend would be doing.
