[Q] Is there a way to make google maps works ? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hi.
I try to use google maps with no success yet.
I use null rom, and share location with GearLocationBridge (and muck location is enabled)
Google maps launch but i cannot locate myself on the map.
On launch it says i must allow google app to use my location.
I didn't see the location menu on the parameters app from the gear, but i can get to it using google maps, and the sliders for allowing to use my location is ON.
But it didn't seems to have any effect.
I tried with both Maps 6 and 7.
Someone have a idea ?

Maybe because the gear doesn't have a built in gps?

There is no offline map program to install on the smartphone so the Gear can get the turn-by-turn text notifications? Maps is not supported as we know. Tried TomTom. I can activate notifications but... TomTom has no notifications at all, lol. Maybe Sygic? Anyone tried it?

I tried Sygic with an older version of Null ROM, the app was starting fine without the maps (but gave an error that they are missing) and when i installed the maps i only got black screen and crash..

It seems that some Sygic version is FC on some Note 3. On mine it crashes too. Should try Waze.
I'm on stock rom and unrooted for now. Got the watch a couple days ago so still messing with stock rom. Don't know if I could really get beneficts from Null rom for my kind of use.

[Q] google earth fix in g tablet?

Is there a fix for Google. Earth for g tablet
Some have gotten it to work by creating a mock location, I have not had such luck in trying to get it to work.

This is what worked for me (on TnT Lite)...
1) Install My Fake Location from Market. Set my preferred location (I used the map to find my location coordinates).
2) Install Location Spoofer from Market. All I did was install it. I didn't do anything with it.
3) Run My Fake Location by selecting Set GPS Location. Uou will receive a notification that My Fake Location is Started.
4) Install Google Earth version 1.2.1. The APK is located in this posting.

Thanks for this fix... Worked for me!
Thanks you!
Google Earth works right of the bat on Vegan 7.
I have TnT Lite 4.4 and it didn't work with the steps mentioned in this thread. I have tethered my EVO 4G with the g tablet and get GPS working in Maps and navigation but Google Earth wouldn't work at all. It would install, but hang in launching. I then tried with the apps My Fake Location and Location spoofer, but no luck.
My fake location doesn't show up in market anymore for me since switching to TNTLite from stock OS and a sub-TNTLite market fix. I got the apk anyway, and Google Earth. Earth just gets stuck searching for location and eventually force closes or crashes my gtablet. MFL usually crashes it too, turning on or off. I found another fake gps app in market and it also crashes.
And when I say crashes it, the screen goes black and the gtab doesn't turn back on for a while.
I can't believe I had a fake gps and google earth working with stock OS but can't get them working with the mod.
I used a modified version of Butch1326's tutortial. I am running Vegan Beta 5.1.1 and this method does work on my tablet. Here is the method I used:
DO THESE STEPS IN ORDER! If you already have Earth installed, uninstall it before you do step 1.
1) Install Location Spoofer from Market.
2) After installation, go to: Settings --> Location & Security. Check on "Use wireless networks" and "Use GPS satellites" if these are not already. These options NEED to be checked on for this to work. Location Spoofer complains if they are not.
3) Go back and open Location Spoofer and click "select from map". I found a location near where I live to work with, you can do this for where ever you live. I don't think the actual location matters. Once you have found a location, select "Use this Location" at the top of the screen.
4) Change the duration to 5 minutes. This is just so you have some time to work with and the app won't stop running in the middle of the setup process.
4) Check the option, "Spoof GPS Location Too"
5) Click "Start spoofing"
6) Now install Google Earth found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10426487&postcount=9
(If this link doesn't work go to Butch1326's original post for the link)
7) Once Earth installs, click done. Then open your app drawer and open Earth. It will start to load. Your tablet may crash at this point, mine did. Though, I was a little eager and was trying to use the app while it was loading. Let it sit a few minutes and see what happens. If it runs on the first try, your done. You can stop Location Spoofer and uncheck the options under Location & Security. Enjoy Google Earth. IF YOUR TABLET DID CRASH GO TO STEP 8.
8) After your tablet reboots, let it sit a minute or two. Give the OS time to finish booting and the OS to stablize.
9) Open Earth again. Don't worry about Location Spoofer, we don't need it anymore.
10) After Earth launches, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR TABLET. It is necessary to let Earth load all the way before you do anything. I didn't touch mine for two or three minutes and advise you to do the same.
11) You're done. Earth should be running now.
If this did not work for you, there is a possibility one of the steps got messed up or you are not running Vegan 5.1.1, as this is the only rom I have tested this on. And the standard line: If you mess up your tablet, I'm not responsible.
Google Earth 2.x works without fuss
The best way to install Google Earth on the gTablet is just to find a copy of the latest version 2.0.1. It installs and runs without fuss, doesn't care if my bluetooth GPS puck is connected or not, and uses it if it is.
Just install and enjoy!
Hmmm?
I just installed Google Earth on my GTAB directly from the android market and it's running pretty smoothly.. No issues what so ever...
+1 Downloaded Google Earth 2.0.1 from my new fixed Market. Works like a champ! TNT Lite 4.4 GTab
What build prop are you using? I'm using olympus and it doesn't appear...

Amused, I posted this this morning and it is the 1st thread at the top in this topic.
"+1! First of all I am running TNT Lite 4.4. I too had tried the standard Market fix many times and just could never see all the cool apps I wanted. Went ahead and changed the build.prop as iamchoco had suggested and BINGO! Although the ro.build.fingerprint already had this line correct, I changed the ro.build.tags and the ro.build.device lines to match iamchoco's instructons. Did the standard Market fix again and it works awesome. It even seems a little faster than before. All the apps I could never get are there and downloadable and have been downloaded and installed...
The programs that I had sideloaded previously are now showing up in the Market and I am updating them through the Market now."
I haven't learned yet how to extract my .apk's yet from my GTab but if you do this fix above, the Market should work for you and show the latest Google Earth.
Alright thanks I'll give it a go

No go...what iamchoo suggested wad exactly what I was using...is it a location issue? I'm in asia.
Could you help to post the apk? Its mightily easy with root explorer. Just go to /data/apps/???.apk long press and select copy. Then paste it somewhere accessible, like the root of your internal memory which is /sdcard/ .
The ??? is the apk name. Should be something earth?
Sent from my GTablet-TnT-Lite using Tapatalk
Let me know if this is right. I did as you asked. It is an apk file but the only one I found in that directory was com.google.earth.apk. Here it is...
Thanks! WOrks perfectly
You're welcome Amusedkid,
Lets get your market working. What ROM are you running? I can help you get the Full Market if you have the same ROM as me. I tried everything and could never get the Full Market. But with the tweaks from iamchocho AND then the normal Market fix, it works perfectly now. I am running TNT Lite 4.4 on GTab FRF91. Let me know if you want the exact procedure I used...

navigation not working

hello guys my google navigation isn't working its waiting for location all the day
why??
Already tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494862
i have no root
Try "gps test" from google play. Go outdoor start gps, turn off internet access, start the app and wait until 30 min, if the can’t get satellites and fix them after 30 you have a hardware problem. In other case all is OK
Notice that sygic works normally

Search for another version of Gmaps in google, an instalable .apk
Also google maps gets my location perfectly but only navigation
Navigation is a part of Maps!
So how to download it??
**I had old lg one also wasn't work but the message is different "Not enabled in your country"
Just search in google for "Google Maps 6.3.0 Apk", or "Google Maps v5.12.0" or what you want.
http://www.apktops.com/google-maps-6-3-0-worldwide-navigation-activated.html
I found this but Application not installed I don't have root
What is the solution??
Normaly there is no need to be root, it's signed. Have you try to install it?
I have a Optimus black, an no problem with maps and navigator. I have the actual Map 6.7.0. The only issue, is that the compass don't work in maps. The compass works in 5.x versions.
Just try you can't destroy nothing.
Regards.
I tried
it told me app not installed
May it cuz my location??
Try this: http://www.mediafire.com/?ah6v4zd4gtdo542
This works 100% in my rooted.
My phone not rooted
How I have said, this in normaly no matter. If this doesn't work it's a matter.

I will try to use navigation now
only google nav has problems here
hi there,
Do you recognize this?
Google Navigation constantly looses its gps fix, almost at every turn.
Other navigation software like NavFree has no problem at all.
It is almost as if Google Navigation resets the GPS sensor when it is too slow to keep up (not driving too fast though).
Any ideas?
why do you want so badly google maps??? if sygic works for you its a very good navigation program. also google maps need gprs connection to work charging you instead of sygic that it's maps are on the phone.

Weather app - unable to contact location service error is back !

Was working fine. I went through this before but then a 4.1.1.0 Google app store update
fixed the problem. Today out of nowhere it reappeared. Will not get a lock on my location with the weather
app. GPS and Google Earth work fine. This is on a 64 gb Developer Edition on complete stock software.
ANY Ideas?

[Q] Google Maps on Watch?

Is there a way to simply disply Google Maps on the Watch? I have Google Maps (obviously) installed on my Samsung Note 3 and irt says it's Android Wear compatable, but yet I do NOT see it in the watches apps and can't find a way to get it to pop up via a voice command.
You can voice command like Navigate to <Address> or home, work etc assuming that you have setup home address and work address in google now.

Thanks I know taht, but I was talking about just having the app itself running on the phone to display abitrary locations (like where I am now), not so much directions.
As far as I know if you are intending to have complete app on your wear watch that is not possible.
