[Flashing] I f***** up, help needed.

Zup,
I rooted a while ago, and since i'm running Ubuntu i haven't managed to get CWM yet, so i noticed that i can use Odin Mobile Pro to do it so i installed it and downloaded the correct kernel. I opened OMP and browsed to find the kernel on the internal memory but i can't choose it (it's a .RAR-file), so i extract it to see what's hidden inside. According to Odin i can flash "zImage" so i do it. Big big mistake.
The phone won't boot now, and the only thing i get is the "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000.
What to do?
Thanks in advance
I can enter Download mode, and that's it. Some help here please?
Use pc odin and flash a stock rom. You must be in download mode

Thanks.
Where can i find a stock ROM? And do i need ADB installed or is it OK with the drivers from Kies? I'm asking since i'm using Ubuntu so i'll have to use my brothers PC, so i can't install a freaking SDK.
Got a stock ROM now, downloaded the ADB files and Odin, so i'll see if that works..
You should just try to read a little more
Kies drivers should be fine. Go to the development forum and you will find stock roms thread.

Awesome. Downloading XXLA4 now, but it takes forever... 100KB/sek.. Horrible servers.. FML
Still downloading the ROM.. WHY in the sweet hell haven't anybody made a torrent or uploaded it to another place? 2 hours to download 550MB on a 20 Mbps connection is tragic..
Update: OK, i'm up and running again! Odin worked like a dream without any problems Thank you so much Indie!
(I don't have any "Thanks" left today, so i can't thank you again)

you said downloading LA4.
Just make clear, LA4 wont Root directly, n looking to sequence, you are going to flash it with PC Odin. If i m correct
Just Downgrade to old version, get it Rooted, then update to LA4

i had the exact same thing after flashing LA4 and had to use odin to flash an older rom to get it booting to then get root access and restore a backup

Yeah, i noticed this when i had downloaded 300MB of LA4, so i didn't bother to stop it and select a rootable ROM I just wanted to get my Note working again. But i'm already missing root like crazy, so i think i'm gonna downgrade and root it again very soon.
Edit: Wait a minute.. I was rooted, i messed the phone up, flashed LA4, booted up the phone, nothing got wiped but i lost root.
ya it is nonwipe version so even with PC Odin, you won't lose anything BUT just ROOT
Aha!
But if i choose to flash another ROM with PC Odin, will i get the triangle at boot? Do i only get the triangle when i flash unofficial ROMs like CM9?
I'm a little unclear on these parts.
Sent from my iPad GT-N7000 using xda premium
No it won't give you triangle if you flash any stock ROM. It gives only when you flash custom(yes like rocket/CM9)

Ahhhh ... Ok. You flashed your phone with files meant for a different version. Check the dev thread and use the guide in post 2 to get your back.
Flash the pre-rooted rom
Then for good measure flash the boot.img as well
I am assuming the radio is ok but you can flash that as well if your are not sure.

[Q] trying to root LA version

hello peopple im trying to root my i8190l but i cant found anything here, did some one can tellme how to do it?
my specs are
PDA: I8190LUBALK1
PHONE: I8190LUBALK1
CSC: I8190LUBALK2 (TCE)
I also have the I8190L version and I'm not sure if I should be able to use the root guides for the other (European) version of the phone. I don't know if there are any hardware differences between the I8190 and I8190L versions. I'm from Mexico and these are my specs:
AP/CP: I8190LUBALJ7
CSC: I8190LTCEALJ2
Baseband: I8190LUBALJ7
Kernel: 3.0.31-466506
Build: JRO03H
Could anyone please clarify if I can install the XALL2 firmwares (there are 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 versions).
Thanks.
Go to development section, plenty of recent ROM's that are now rooted.

yeah, I also have the L version and it should be no problem
Yes, but they say they are for the I8190 version, so I'm not sure if it'll work with the I8190L version, that's what I want to know.
EDIT: Well the person above me answered at the same time I posted this. Thx for clarifying.

Have you flashed any of those ROMs? Do you still have 3G connectivity? I'm wondering because the baseband is different with the rooted ROMs.
What's the difference between I8190 & L version then, can u explain.

I'm not very sure, I'm guessing that the L version is for Latin America but I don't know what that implies, whether it has some hardware differences or something.
I know some people have NFC on there phones, maybe that's the difference.

I still can't post on the developer forums so I think I'll share my experience here for now. Sorry for the long post but it was a very weird experience.
I downloaded the 4.1.2 rooted rom (JZO54K.I8190DXALL3_4.1.2 from the Android Development Thread), put my S3 Mini in download mode and opened Odin. Odin saw the device so I tried to flash the rom. Odin hanged at "setting connection" for a little while and then it failed. Since Odin didn't write anything (or so I think) I just tried to reboot my phone but it wouldn't boot, both the Menu and Return buttons flashed like 3 times and Galaxy SIII Mini was displayed on the screen but then the screen went black again. I went back into download mode and my binary count was increased and it said I had a custom rom. I tried flashing the rom again and even the XXALL2 rom from avicohh but Odin would always fail and my binary counter kept increasing. Since Odin could still see the phone I thought there was still a chance to save it, I just didn't know how.
With my phone still plugged in I opened Kies (Odin was now closed) to see if it detected the device in download mode, which it didn't. I rebooted the phone once again and it appeared in Kies but it said the phone was locked (I have a PIN). I tried to turn the screen on but nothing happened, the weird thing is that I slid my finger across the screen and I could hear the unlock sound. So I pressed the On button two more times and the screen came on, my phone fully booted and everything working correctly. I don't know how or why.
I rebooted my phone once again and it booted up correctly, although after the screen showing "Galaxy SIII Mini" a boot up animation from my carrier should appear, but it doesn't, the screen just stays black but after a few seconds I can turn on the screen and use the phone. I haven't gone into download mode again but I'm guessing my binary counter is still at 3 or 4...
At this point I don't know if this means that those ROMs aren't compatible with the L version or if Odin is having problems due to Kies. I did check my task manager and closed everything that said Kies before opening Odin, I even rebooted my laptop and changed usb ports but nothing helped me. I'd like to uninstall Kies and try again but I'd feel more confident if I had a stock version of my ROM, which I don't and I can't currently find it online, so maybe I'll wait for that. In the mean time if anyone can help me to reset the binary counter or something I'd appreciate it.
Don't use Kies with Odin they don't get on, always exit Kies before flashing firmware, don't know why u get custom binary count.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
I did exit Kies, I even rebooted and made sure Kies was closed before opening Odin, I'm not sure what happened.
Download SamMobile from playstore, I remember seeing firmware 4 your i8190L about a week ago.Keep looking on there.
Also your problem could be something to do with phone carrier. Maybe you should get your phone simfree then install any rooted ROM from this forum.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
There are some firmwares for the L version there, but none of them are from Mexico, does that make a lot of difference or it only changes things like APN settings?
Have another look on here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967824 and hover over the 3 letters too see if there's firmware nearest to your country region.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Thanks for the help, I had also looked on that thread but there are no firmwares from Mexico. I'm not in a hurry though, I guess I can wait until someone uploads it. What I'd really like to know is whether my problem was related to Odin or if the ROMs were incompatible, but I can't ask in the developer thread yet.
You done everything right, so I think you need carrier compatible firmware. If u were sim free you wouldn't have these problems I think. Try other firmware closer to Mexico, maybe that will help you.

Well that doesn't sound good. I haven't tried flashing since I can't download right now on my work computer but will try tonight or tomorrow. The L in our phones is basically to differentiate the versions and it should not be a problem. I remember that for the S1 the LA variant was a I900 T and on that one the only difference was the bootloaders which caused a problem when flashing but was an easy fix. I'll upate as soon as I can try and flash. Remember flashing on odin is a tricky thing, everything has to be on it's place and sometimes it just has to be done a couple of times for it to work right.
I always use ODIN 3.07 never had any problems with it yet.

Well I'm going to have to download it, since I did not have it before. I used to have an SGS 1 and just had the drivers for it installed, not kies.
You should try it a couple more times, or try faria's rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074514

Odin Error: "Can't open the serial(COM) port"

Hello everyone, I hope this is in the correct section but if it's not I apologize.
I recently bought a new phone, and it finally arrived. The phone I have is the Samsung Galaxy S3, the model number according to my settings is GT-i9305T. Ofcourse, I want to root it and flash a custom ROM so it'll run as well as it possibly can, however when I try to use CF Autoroot with Odin I get the error described in the title of this thread.
I have tried using a different USB port on this computer, and I've had no luck. The phone is recognized by Kies, and the drivers were all installed through it.
Now, does anyone have any suggestions? I've been trying to do it with Odin 1.85 and "CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3dv-gti9305t", which appears to be everyone's go-to method for rooting this phone. I really have no idea what else I could try.
Uninstall Samsung Kies. Reboot and try again.

You need to be more specific.
What phone model exactly do you have N910T or N910W8 or?
What is the exact filename of the firmware you used to odin back to stock?
Good luck!
If Odin failed to fix your phone then your down load was probably bad. I have never had an issue with Odin restoring my phone even from Bad bricks.
You may also just want to try running CF auto root and flashing a custom recover and a new ROM and not going back to stock.

Your wire might be bad. I tried using an old wire that worked fine to charge my phone, but was not work for data. When I tried rooting, it failed half way through. Tried kies 3, but it wouldn't recognize my p phone. I switched wires, and bingo, all good.
