vGet App Alternative - Google Chromecast

Open your browser (stock or chrome) from your android phone / tablet
Open any website that contains a video (live doesn't work)
Long press the video player box on the browser page (normally a black box with play icon)
You will see a pop up menu Open, Open in a new window etc.
Press Open in a new window
It will give you an option to choose your media player (I choose avia media plyer)
then cast to Chromecast
Tried this website einthusan com
Let me know if you find any other website
Some of you may know this trick already but thought of sharing this with everyone.

Hmm, did a good job of crashing my Android tablet.

Gmote 2.0 - Random Music Playlist and Scrobble to Last.fm [Guide]

Figured I'd post this here, these were my two main issues with Gmote not being able to do.
First of all get Gmote 2.0 off the market or from the website, grab the server client while you're there and follow the directions to install it.
http://www.gmote.org/
http://www.cyrket.com/package/org.gmote.client.android
Then get the latest version of VLC and install it (0.9.8a as of this posting).
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Okay now navigate to your VLC install directory and copy all the contents (C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC).
Now, navigate to your Gmote install directory (C:\Program Files\GmoteServer).
From there go to \bin\VLC\ and delete all the contents and paste the latest version of VLC in there.
Now open VLC.exe and go to the Tools menu > Preferences.
Under the simple interface go to Audio and select "Enable last.fm submission", then enter your last.fm log in information. Don't close it.
Now for the shuffle songs, Gmote has a menu option for it but it wasn't working for me, but I did it for good measure. There is a way to force it in VLC.
Right click Gmote Server in the system tray > Settings > Shuffle Songs
Back in VLC in Preferences, under "Show settings" select "All" and go to Playlist menu. From there select "Play files randomly forever".
Go to the bottom and hit Save then close VLC.
Now make sure that the playlist will be set to shuffle by default. Open VLC and go to the Playlist menu > Show Playlist. At the bottom next to the plus the lines should be crossed, if not click it, close out VLC and see. Go through the steps again if its not on shuffle now.
A couple notes in case anyone runs into any issues, I never had Gmote and VLC open at the same time since I believe that Gmote opens up VLC when it is started, not sure. I also selected "Allow only one instance" under Interface settings.
Oh and the first time it played a song the next song started and stopped abruptly, so I just reopened my .m3u playlist and it worked and has worked ever since (the song still scrobbled though).
Also, it won't show what you are currently playing on last.fm, it will only show what you just played.
Nice tutorial!!!!! Only VLC? Can't you do something similar with WMP? All I want is to stream some stuff that "StreamFurious" won't play, shouldn't have to install additional media player just to do that? I could be wrong though....
If you want to listen to music streamfurious won't play, you can set up your own shoutcast station here:
http://www.shoutcast.com/download
Then add the address of your station to streamfurious so you can listen to your own personal collection.
Also, there is an option on Gmote to stream music from your PC to your phone, which should be easier to do. If you happen to have a dynamic IP address (and don't want to always have to remember it), you can setup a dyndns website address @ www.dyndns.org, and enter it as the server you want gmote to connect to.

[NST] APPS that play videos! (flv,3gp etc)

"Mobo Video Player pro" managed to run videos with no problems :]
Futurama - S05E12 - Spanish Fry.3gp
Test some other formats if you like.
I'm going to sleep.
inb4.. poor camera is poor.
EDIT : - There are some rendering glitches while playing .mp4's.
- .flv's work fine for 240p
Cinematic.
You can use "TubeMate" to browse and download YT videos. Then open them with another player.
also ...
-BSPlayer lite
-yxplayer (paid app) - plays online streams :]
-QQPlayer
works
Why the heck do I need videos on NST?
1. To have access to YT videos while I'm on the go (away from PC).
2. To watch original silent B&W movies (eg. Metropolis)
3. Because I can!

That's what I say for pretty much everything I do!
which app is best for NST? it would be great to have some app that can export mp3 track out of movie which than could be using USB host mode send to mobile phone. Playing both video track a and sound track would give one full exp.
could you please upload .apk of thins TubeMate somewhere?
http://m.tubemate.net/
It grabs video links from opera mobile/mini. :]
EIDT :
Protip -
Even if TubeMate shows "video not found" you can still download the video using an "arrow" icon at the bottom of the screen.
TubeMate makes mp3 also
TubeMate makes mp3 also. So you can download video file, mp3 file and they using usb host you can use 3d party mp3 player to have full b/w experience
You can view online streams in "Maxthon Browser" using "RockPlayer Lite".
Confirmed for :
-Novamov
You can't stream YT videos because it automatically connects to the mobile version of the site. Is there a way to force "desktop version" to load in NST browsers?
Ok..to summarize :
- For YT/Daily Motion videos use "jetVD" + RockPlayerLite set as a default player. ( "jetVD" does not hang when you try to watch the video)
- For online content :
1. open streaming site using 'Maxthon' (or any other browser that handles Flash)
2. when you see an empty flash frame press it long and than select "open in new tab"
3. Select "Play"
4. Select "RockPlayerLite" as a default player
5. Now you have an online stream running on your NST ;]
Checked on 'filebox'.

[Q] Casting embedded YouTube from Android Chrome?

This is becoming a pet peeve. I open a link to a page, say on Gawker, on my Nexus 7. There is an embedded YouTube clip, and no direct link to the video. The only thing I can do when I tap the video is play it embedded. There is no YouTube button or title to click. If I long-press I get a menu full of options that don't actually work when I tap them. The only way to get it into the YouTube app (and hence into Chromecast) is to search out the video on YouTube manually or locate the link using a desktop browser.
Is there any easy way folks here have come up with, to quickly take an embedded YouTube clip and force it into the YouTube app for casting?

Fullscreen Flash Videos Using Chrome Toolbox

I just found a pretty neat trick to do fullscreen.
Install the "Chrome Toolbox" which allows you to open flash videos by themselves, separate from anything else on that webpage.
Go to the page with the flash video you are playing. Cast that tab. Hover over the video and an icon will appear to allow you to put it on its own window. Chromecast will now only show the video, same as if you went fullscreen. Video quality seems better when the window is not minimized.

seems like a pretty good option.. I will give a try this evening..
my friend was able to cast fullscreen without using this add on thru mac os, but I wasn't able to do from windows
Most players have the option to popout, I think you can convert popup window into a tab and then cast. Works well but I haven't done it for ages and can't give you exact instructions

Problem with browser/streaming videos

Hi all!
I have a problem in Resurrection Remix rom - 4.4.2 (kitkat).
I don't use default browser, because I don't like it and I deleted it before flashing.
Currently I am using Next Browser.
To the point - In every previous rom I used, when I clicked on the video the browser gave me a possibility to open it by MX PLAYER and now when I tap on the video it opens this video in the browser (I think it's some kind of media player build in browser).
But what's the problem? Movies don't work in browser somehow and I want to get back to the option with mx player.
What I tried by now?
-Different browser (Boat Browser) -- the same result
-Searching in options of browser and rom -- found nothing
I don't want to reflash rom because I need everything for now...
I would be very grateful for any answer what to do
Thanks!

If sth is unclear, let me know. I will try to explain it better

Not sure about your custom rom but if you goto "system setting/apps" then select "all" then look for the default media player (not sure what it'll be called) click on it and look for where it says Launch By Default select "clear default" then after play the video again and this time you'll get a pop up to select which media player you want to use, see if that works.

I went to settings -> apps, but I don't know where I am supposed to look for the default media player...
I tried to clean/restore default settings of Next Browser and MX player, but it did nothing...

UP, plz guys...
Use "Bairu browser" free in market, once installed goto options then swipe options panel left and you will see more options then select "settings" and download the "T5 Engine" (it's about 8MB) then in settlings you will see an option to run "HTML5 video first" select it and it will play videos in 3rd party media player. It works because I've used it to stream YouTube videos on custom media player. good luck.
