[Q] Launcher recommendation - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I want to use another launcher instead of touchwiz, but I want some launcher that be fast and smooth can someone please recommend me some? Something important that I want is that you can organize your apps in the app drawer, I like very much kk launcher but you can organize your apps in it. Thanks

I'm in the same situation as you were, looking for the same solution as you did. I know it has been a long time since your last post but have you managed to find the launcher you were looking for? What is your launcher recommendation instead of touchwiz?

I've been using NOVA launcher prime for a very long time now and I would definitely recommend it, its very fast and you can customise a lot of things to make it perfect for your needs

Nova Launcher before its material desing update. You can fine it in apk mirror. its the last apk in the last page

Meanwhile, I've tried Nova Launcher but there is one problem with it: as an email app, I'm using the stock email application, SecEmail.apk. The problem is that the badge count isn't working in Nova Launcher for SecEmail.apk and I don't want to change the email app. If someone could find a fix for it, I'll gladly change the launcher.

I don't follow: what material design update? Do you refer to the 3.3 version?

Yes, that version of Nova Launcher. Works more fluid on my old Xperia L than the actual version.

[Q] So... What launcher is "best"?

This is, I know, much a personal taste of choise... But I find LPP a bit laggy, adwEX lags etc. Can't understand why it would, but that's just how I feel.
However I like the app drawer speed with the LG-home - no lag whatsoever!
So...
What launcher do you use, and why?
Im using Launcher Pro right now but im trying Go Launcher (EX) and it's feels faster, but i'm missing the facebook widget the LPP offers
Launcher Pro Plus has always been one of my favorites. Clean, fast and functional.
Right now I was trying out the spb launcher and it looks crazily stunning
I'm fan of ADW EX, it has everything I want from a launcher app
I've used the lpp for some hours and the lag is somehow gone
going to check out go and spb too
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Im using the LG Home, I really like the drawer. I used LauncherPro on my X10 mini pro, but I don't see a reason to switch atm.
I personally li LPP..... one because of the brilliant widgets it offers, the option to resize widgets, adding more rows to the screens and i love the 3d drawer

He's probably in the beta, which i signed up for as well, hope that i get in.
And on topic: I'm using the stock launcher because it works just fine for me, i don't see a need to change it yet
I'm using the launcher from se arc. speedy beautiful and a bit animated when moving or deleting stuff.

LPP, the LG home lags switching between homescreens.

Launchers

hey, i was wondering whats the best launcher for the 2x.
so far ive tried adw, launcher pro, go launcher ex (still using)
go launcher ex is still the smoothest of them all, but im begining to think it uses quite some battery, what are your experiences ?
I'm using Launcher Pro and I really like it. So far it's been very smooth and I've had no excessive battery draining from using it.
I haven't had time to try out any others yet, my O2x is still a baby

I'm using the LG launcher
Go launcher ex was the best, until after a few nightly builds it went extremley laggy, now on adw ex and so far so good.

GO Launcher EX.
Tried a couple of others, but GO offers the best mix of being fast and flexible.
I'm a fan of ADW EX. Tons of customization available.
im on adw ex right now as well. buts its laggy (not much but still) compared to go launcher ex. lol. and im missing some customizations.. but the theme stuff is quite nice
the bad thing is that i only like launchers with vertical scroll in app drawer
LG home would suffice, but the app drawer is the only place that launcher DOESNT lag at. so lame.
i'm using launcher7 donate
i like it , simple and fast
Im using MX Home and realy impresed with performance, realy nice home app , but what im realy waiting to try out is this one

Using go launcher ex with no lag or issues whatsoever.
I'd recommend to all others.
Plus additional downloads of go dialer and go contacts are also worth a download if you're running a custom rom.

Where did you get some of these launchers? I can't seem to find all of them on the market. Which ones did you like?
I'm using Go Launcher at the moment after everybody here recommended it and I like it a lot more than Launcher Pro. Smooth and very customizable.

Thanks man, I'll try a few of those out. I'm a huge fan of the WP7 interface and live tiles but Launcher 7 is not quite smooth enough for me

after using adw ex i went back to go launcher. its just the best (smoothest)

[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich alternative launchers?

Hello fellow SGN users,
Now that the official Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 has been released to SGN users primarily in Europe, I would like to find out if there are any alternative launchers that is compatible with ICS or more importantly launchers that strictly run on ICS?
I've seen NOVA and APEX launchers and going to give them a try so i was just wondering if any of you know of any other alternatives?
those are the best ics ones
been testing them both on and off myself, not sure which one i like best, but i dont like that i cant use the s-widgets with them i really like s-planner calender any alternative to that?
I hear GO launcher works.
I bought both Nova and Apex Launcher. I like Apex the best but they are very similar and are hard to tell apart.
Do Apex or Nova allow you to hide the dock?
I'm using ADW EX on 2.3.6 and don't use a dock.
I'm hoping some of the random lagginess switching between screens will disappear once I upgrade to ICS, but if it doesn't I might have to look for another launcher.
Thanks,
Rich

I am using ADW. I hate the "new" ADW EX. Flashed official ICS today. ADW ran awful. Very laggy. App drawer scroll kept hanging and the touchscreen was nearly unresponsive on the ADW screens. One widget kept failing to update as well.
Long story short, I flashed back to GB with Franco.kernel #10. Works flawlessly again!
I just don't see any improvement with ICS. Samsung's version looks like GB anyway.

I use GoLauncher EX of the simple reason that it enables 8 rows with 10 columns. I can't get that with either Apex or Nova (they limit at 7 x 7 at most).
GL EX is also pretty similar to good ole LauncherPro and since that has been a trusty launcher for a long period of time, I certainly prefer to have that functionality intact.
But I will give Apex a new chance immediately when 8 x 10 is enabled for the home screen since it is good otherwise but just 7 rows destroys my layout.
Almost without exception, any launcher that works on GB will work in ICS.
i tried nova and apex.. and they are good..
but i don't like them since i can't make folders on the app drawer...

Of the ICS themed launchers (tried Nova and Apex), I always go back to Nova cos it's smoother for me. Always notice slight jitters on Apex, which is a pity, cos I also quite like Apex's functionality.
(I'm using Nova Prime (paid)).
Apex Launcher as a system app. Damn good in here...

Can any1 give me the link for the stock ics launcher? I don't want to have touchwiz or any other thing, just the pure android ics launcher
I am testing Miui Home Launcher, a lot of themes are avaible.
My favorite is Go Launcher ex and SS Launcher.

I don't think that's possible... and even if it is possible then it will obviously require a lot of modding and editing of God knows how many files.... :silly:
I love and use Nova; because its simply the best! (according to me)
Have you tried launchers like Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher, Holo Launcher, Buzz Launcher, Next Launcher, TSF Shell, Atom Launcher, Go Launcher, ADW Launcher or the Stock 4.2 browser??
(hope I get a thanks for this, because I seriously searched and typed all the popular launchers from Google Play )

Lol you didn't really help ME in particular but thanks for the reasearch you earned it man!
But to get back to the topic: custom launchers are the only way I guess. No one has discoverd this yet. But I think it can be done with a lot of file editing and modding.
I wish you very good luck haha

yeah dude, its embarrassing to ask for "thanks" without really helping
anyways getting back to topic, what is it that you hate in other launchers and like it in the TouchWiz launcher? I mean TouchWiz launcher is laggy sometimes (in transitions, page scrolling, etc.).. it is buggy sometimes (if you have an app in your external sd card, then after rebooting, the icon shifts its position to the end of the very last page).. etc.
On the other hand, custom launchers like Apex or Nova are really customizable; you can literally modify its settings to your preferences...
I've even uninstalled Touchwiz with Titanium Backup, after installed Nova!

Google Launcher for Mi5?

MIUI doesn't have the app drawer does it?
Presumably, once you get Play installed on the device...can you install Google Now and Launcher? Does that then provide app drawer??

DAMN I want this phone now!!!! (and the hunt is on!)
Excuse my ignorance on what Google Launcher provides, but if you do use it, does it provide a largely stock experience instead of MIUI?

i was using emui (which is quite similar to miui) with apex launcher. it delivers a bit stock feeling for homescreen and app drawer, but not for settings or notification bar. but for me, it was a quite good compromise and i would do this on miui too, if i get one.
I installed Google Launcher and I'm using it. You have to do a small workaround to activate it, but it's pretty easy.
Here you have it: http://en.miui.com/thread-87810-1-1.html
However, I'm not satisfied with only the Launcher, coming from 6 years of Nexus. I am eager of someone porting the stock Android to Mi5 ASAP. I thought that MIUI improved things, but hell, everything I find is drawbacks. :S
In your experience is there any better launcher than Google Now Launcher (performance wise) ?
