maintaining 2 separate calendars

I'm wondering if it is possible to maintain two calendar's on my kaiser. One for my personal appointments, that can be synchronised with my outlook client on my desktop and one for the business appointments that will be syncronized with my outlook client on my business laptop?
Alernatively one calendar would be fine, but i would like to avoid at all cost that my private account are replicated back to my business laptop. (I would really mind seeing business appointments in my personal outlook client though).
I've tried searching the forum, but could find a possible solution.
Have you considered using "Categories?" You can assign a "Personal" category to all of you personal stuff. Then, you can use "View" to filter in/out the Personal items.
Not a bad idea.
But even then my personal data would be replicated to my business calender and I don't want that. My colleagues have at least read access to my business calender and I don't want them to be able to see my private appointments. And I know I can mark them as private. It would mean a lot of overhead though, I'd have to mark all my appointments as private and assign them to the personal categorie.
Close, but not really what I am looking for.
I really would like to be able to maintain 2 calenders on my pda.
Or if I had the possibility to do a one way sync with my business calendar that would also be enough.
I don't think so...Intellisync would let you actually sync only certain categories and I used it to do just what you want...but it stopped working with Office 2007.
Is your personal calendar in Google? I'm not sure, but maybe you can accomlish this via categories, and use of OGG Synch.
I have accomplished it, but my work calendar is Lotus Notes, and I use mNOtes to replicate to it. I just set a category of No Notes Synch and mNotes will not take it up to my Notes calendar.

Software for multiple Contact Databases.

I'm looking for software for my tilt that will allow me to keep a separate contact list (Names/addresses/etc.)...kinda like a "Little Black Book".
I'm getting overran with personal vs business contacts that there are so many contacts to scroll through to make calls and such. I'm wanting this program so I can move all my Business contacts to it and keep them separate from my Personal contacts.
Ideas???
You may have already thought of this and rejected it but...
Why not just categorize them between "Personal" and "Business" and then filter them based on what you need at the time? I know PocketInformant can do that easily. That way, you only see your business contacts as you scroll, etc.
It would seem that this would be just as fast/efficient as having two different contact databases (if possible, at all).
Second the recommendation for PI , great product well worth buying, I have over 700 contacts and it make them all very search able, just like a mini outlook..
http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant
they have a free version you can down load and see if you like it...but you will
I'll have to give PI a try.
What I really want to do is to move all the business contacts to an external program that can be password protected. I got a lot of contacts that...well...I need to keep secure. (And hope I never loose my phone...grin)

Sync w/o Outlook

Hey folks,
Sorry to post such a 'simple' question, but I can't seem to google up the right words to find what I'm looking for -- and the links I did find didn't give me much personal opinions of different services.
I recently lost Sync options with my work (yay economy and licensing costs).. I loved using Outlook to sync my calender from MS Exchange to my phone... and I could use OWA to enter in my calender events from my computer. It also allowed my calender to survive flashes w/o backups.
I can't survive without my calender syncing, since the change i'm late to work constantly (I used to enter my shifts in OWA w/reminders 2 hours before to make sure I'm moving early enough to get ready & to work on time -- In case I'm watching a movie with the dog and don't notice the time)
I found 2 solutions, but both are around Google's calender, which I'm not super keen on, but could work:
1. Google Calender Mobile Website -- My understanding is it does reminders by SMS(?) and is mostly managed by google -- not the phone.
2. GooSync / OogSync -- Looks like it'll sync right into the phone's native calender -- But I didnt see verification of it syncing with the native calender, and/or if it supports making sure my reminders & other 'extra' information is sync'ed
I don't want to give Microsoft any money for outlook, so what do you all use :-/
Thanks guys, again, sorry for posting this issue without spending 3 hours researching first :-/ but getting a headache from trying to find a solution!
So, My needs:
1) Bi-directional Sync
2) Extra Information (e.g. Reminders) Sync
3) Easy entry/editing of calender info from a computer
Hopes:
4) Can work behind corporate firewalls blocking gmail, yahoo mail, etc.
5) Task Syncing
Thanks guys, love XDA

Possible ways to sync
Unfortunately the easiest way would be to sync through outlook.
Though your company may have cut licensing cost ask the IT gurus if your company may have an agreement with MS. It's called Home Use Program (HUP) LINK.
If they do you can buy a full office pack for home use for ~ $20 which is definitely worth doing it. Afterwards simply maintain your contacts at your home PC and sync them through the PC. You may export them out of your office outlook either as PAB or CSV file and import at home. AFAIK this doesn't work with outlook express, you need a full blown office outlook.
You may also look at the link below if this would do it for you.

Perhaps you have a friendly IT group. Download the attached file, rename ZIP to PDF and take a look, it may work in your environment.
have you tried mail2web? its outlook (OWA), syncs with your phone (email, contacts, calender, etc..) and you can also manage it on your computer. Best of all, its free http://exchange.mail2web.com/
Hmmm.. with e-mail forwarding from my gmail to this that might actually work out well... save battery life on checking multiple e-mail accounts...
In case someone stumbles on this, link to account setup is: http://services.mail2web.com/Services/exchangesolutions.asp
Took a bit of searchign to find that page, most of their stuff advertises their paid services.... I'll give the free one a try, if I like it I'd be willing to pay (or at least donate) for it
instead of Mail2web try out seven, mail forwarding service. found here, i swear by it, it's been such a good service, you do have to sign up but it remembers you, so if you switch to another phone, ROM, etc your e-mail account(s) will be saved and you can add multiple accounts, and set times for mail forwarding. I'm not sure about contacts, but it asks every time i restart it if i want to import my contacts from g-mail. it's definitely worth a try.

Mac Users - Spanning Sync is highly recommended

Just wanted to let Mac users that syncing both ways from Mac -> Google -> Hero and back is a sinch with Spanning Sync.
I've been using it sync my Hero purchase nearly 3 weeks ago... no issues found so far.
Get a $5 discount too using my referral code of : EVPPB3
Mods - please delete the above line if this breaks any commercial rules - this really is a boon for Hero syncing on OS X
Your friend saves $5. You make $5. No limits. Boom!
Sounds like a fair deal
As I say... if anyone does have an issue - happy to have the line removed
What does this software let you sync? Is it just ical and address book? Because that can be done for free.
One thing that is killer for me is the ability to cross link different iCal calendars to different calendars in Google's calendars.... ie I use multiple calendars on my Mac (Work, Personal, Important etc) and match them, to equivalent Google ones.
That way my Hero can populate iCal with work, personal etc related events without having to move them around on the Mac.
With Address book, I sync a 'Phone' group to my handsets... Spanning sync allows you to sync a single group and also have handset entered contacts automatically put into this group when syncing back.
There are many more option you don't get with the free version of SyncMate for example. And based on personal experience when using SyncMate and a Touch Diamond, it would always sync my 800+ contacts after it had synced just the 'Phone' group. Very annoying. Also kept duplicating iCal events.
Spanning Sync also mediates between the differing contact format that Google uses compared to the more detailed way Address Book handles data.
