[Q] Unlocked Bootloader Can't Get Into Bootloader Mode - Moto X Q&A

Unlocked and rooted with TWRP and SuperSU.
Ok, so I messed with framework-res.apk when I wasn't in recovery mode, and now know I should not have done this unless I was in recovery.
Phone will start to boot and begin the boot up animation but then goes blank. Adb does not recognize the device when connected to my computer, so I don't think it boots.
Problem is that when I hold volume down and power buttons together, it won't boot into fastboot mode, either.
So I can't use adb and can't get into fastboot mode. If I hold the power button down for 7 seconds, it starts to boot again but goes blank after the boot up animation begins.
Any ideas? I don't understand why I can't get into bootloader mode. I wouldn't think a system file like framework-res.apk would have anything to do with the bootloader mode.

OK, figured it out. I had to disconnect my phone from my computer and then hold all 3 buttons down - power, volume up and volume down and then release. That put me into bootloader mode.

I can now confirm that you (or at least I) should not mess with framework-res.apk even while in recovery, lol!
All I want is my custom wallpaper back, wah!
The good news is that if you can't boot into bootloader using volume down and power, you can try the 3 button reset to get into bootloader. Have to hold them all down for at least 10 seconds and you can't be connected to your computer by a USB cord.

[Q] Bootloop help (cannot access fastboot/adb)

Note: This is a re-post from the Verizon HTC forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533042)
I just rooted and S-off my HTC via rumrunner.
No flash roms install or custom recovery installed.
I wanted to see if I still had CWM from my last root (I returned to stock via http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...highlight=s-on.
So I went into the bootloader or fastboot (I don't remember) and hit recovery. This did not send me to a CWM, but it appeared to be the stock version of recovery. The process took too long (I know impatient) so I turned it off via power button + volume down.
Now I come to you in need, my phone is constantly turning off/on only displaying the green htc text, no red text, then pausing for 8 seconds, then off again to black screen. The whole process lasts 12 seconds, and this had been going on for about 10-15 min atm.
Plugging it in, my computer does not have the time to recognize it with adb, or fastboot.
I cannot use the power button + volume down to go into bootloader, and pressing the power button does nothing.
Please help me.
So here's the update.
Screen is now black, meaning the boot up/down process has stopped.
I have tried these:
A. Hold down the volume down + power button for 20+ seconds.
B. Hold down the volume up + volume down + power button for 20+ seconds and let up on the volume up button when screen goes black.
These two methods results in a single boot up to green HTC text then black screen.
I suspect the device has lost most of its power. Tried it for a third time, the device is now unresponsive and remains at black screen.
Now I plugged the usb cable connected to the power adapter.
The device enters the aforementioned continuous boot loop.
I tried method A and B, and there are no results, the boot loop continues. Now the device returns to the low or no powered state.
Now the device is connected to the computer. The same happens as if it were connected to the power adapter.
Method A and B still do not work.
Results: holding down buttons longer do nothing for me. The device seems to have lost power, but when charged, immediately the device enters the boot loop state.
Note: when doing method A and B the trials were done when screen is on and when screen is off, still no results.
Now the screen is off and not connected to anything. The problem still persists.

If I had to guess I would say your volume down is broken, else it would enter hboot
plug in the power and let it charge all day. then plug it to your pc and try to adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery the instant you here the pc usb ingage.
once you get to the bootloader try and fastboot erase cache followed by fastboot reboot
after your phone boots you should be able to go back to bootloader and reinstall custom recovery

I have a few questions/concerns to this.
1. When I charge it, I can't stop the phone from the continuous boot. I'm afraid that doing this all day might hurt the phone more.
2. Currently I have been charging it via computer (still boot loop), and the computer does not recognize it at all. I think there is really not enough time because the loop duration is only a few seconds.
3. Since the phone is connected to the computer, the commands adb reboot bootloader and adb reboot recovery does not work. Error: device not found.

So what is this method supposed to accomplish?
I did this and the phone stopped the continous boot. However when I tried to go to hboot it went back into the loop. I did this twice, and I'm able to stop the loop with the bright light method, but I don't know what to do from here.
Note: when plugging phone into computer, the loop starts again.

the phone should not bootup with the power cord plugged in from an off state (are you turning the phone back on ?)
turn off phone by holding power 15 seconds under a bright light
plug phone into outlet (not PC) let charge till green light comes on (not Red)
hold volume down and power for 10 seconds ( you should be in hboot)
plug phone to PC choose fastboot hit power
your now in fastboot usb
from here you reflash recovery
fastboot erase cache and reboot recovery
if your still in bootloop I'm at a loss, and seems your hboot is corrupted I think you have to return your phone to Verizon or HTC.

Well I don't know if it is truly off, I'm just assuming it is.
But yes as soon as I plug the phone into the power adapter the red led flashes on, and the htc logo appears, then the loop continues.
I'll probably take it into Verizon tomorrow and update on what happens.
Update: Welp, I gave up. I'm going to get my replacement soon and I'll be turning it into Verizon. Really it's not that bad of a loss since I just wiped the phone, only thing is I lost my screen protector and carbon skin

Weird Softbrick

So I installed a TWRP RECOVERY a Motorola RAZR i, using the Flash Tool.
It installed but I could never access it from the POWER VOLUME UP & DOWN method.
So I had to turn the phone on and enable USB Debugging then use ADB to reboot into recovery via the Flash Tool.
Then I was working on a PORT when I flashed a ROM, it went into bootflop, now I cannot get into the BOOTLOADER at all.
It never works, it will show the normal warning sign and then just go straight to the ROM.
I tried using RSD with an SBF File but it did not work, as I have to be in fastboot and I cannot be in without going into the bootloader.
Is there no hope for this device...
I have the feeling that twrp isn't flashed right. U did use fastboot?
For the bootloop. Hold volume down the whole time when it boots/bootloops, it will boot in ap flashmode (fastboot). Maybe u need to stop pressing the button after the first restart(when holding the volume down button) at the moment u get the warning.
Easily recoverable, just need some trying with the above way.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
My method to come into fastboot-mode while having a bootloop:
1. when in bootloop press all buttons (power, VolUp, VolDown) and keep pressed
2. when screen goes off, leave the VolUp button alone, keep VolDown and Power pressed.
3. when phone vibrates, leave power alone and keep VolDown pressed
4. the bl-unlock-warning shows up and after a few seconds you should be in fastboot-mode
5. now you can leave VolDown alone
Maybe you need some tries, cause its a question of timing, but for me it works.
Thanks...
@icual
I am very grateful for your help. Thank You ever so much. The solution worked perfectly. You saved my phone

Can't go into fastboot mode. Please help!

Hello. I have a razr I and decided to unlock the bootloader. I tried the button combination power + volume down several times, but the phone just powers up normally (actually rhe screen flashes for a second, but doesn't go into fastboot mode. I trided using adb reboot fastboot but the device just reboots. What can I do about it?
NVM, just did it by fastboot reboot bootloader...
Ok, one more thing. It seems my device ignores the key combo, but I was still able to get into fastboot mode by using adb. However, I have tried to flash a custom recovery with no success.
I tred using the supplied installer and after rebooting I get to the open robot screen with the red exclamation mark. Then, after holding some keys (not sure if power or power + volume down I get into recovery, but it's still the stock android recovery. Then I tried flashing the recovery image from fastboot mode. It sait the recovery was flashed, but still cannot boot into recovery. What's wrong with my phone?

Just incase you need to do it in the future:
Hold volume down, then hold the power button. When it begins to vibrate release the power button and keep the volume down button pressed until you get into fastboot.

Alright. So how about the never appearing CWM recovery?

Can’t get into boot loader

Just got an s10 from someone. Trying to get into download mode but can’t doing it from keys and when I do it from recovery it says BL recovery locked by key. It will not go to download mode at all. Any ideas on how to get around it?
Will it boot into recovery for a data factory reset? That may fix it.
Already tried. Nothing will work. Even the plug in cable while holding buttons. Adb just restarts

keep holding the buttons and make it reboot as many times as needed. Well, like 10 times might be excessive, but shy of that isnt. Ive had many galaxy phones that were being a little a-hole about letting you boot to bootloader. But being forceful with continuing to force it to boot eventually got every problematic phone ive ever had into DL mode.
if you can adb into the phone, use "adb reboot bootloader" and it should automagically go to DL mode, if it doesnt, hold vol down and do that command again. It might take several times to get there, but youll get there. Im not aware of any way to lock someone out of the phones bootloader
Shut the phone off. Plug in type c connector while holding volume up, bixby and power, then plug in usb cable to pc.
I’ve done all the usb tricks also still nothing. Here is the recovery screen. Reboot to boot loader doesn’t work also

Bootloop, help!

After flashing AEX ROM phone hangs on boot screen. I can't force it to shut down, I have to wait until battery drains. Then I connect the charger, phone immediately boots up, here we go again...
I can't use newflasher.
Brick?
Use Sony Emma.
My phone is also bootlooped after i failed to flash the software.
I don't remember but maybe hold volume up and power button and the phone vibrates 3 or 4 times and after turning off.
Brick is not likely. Plug the phone into a PC, hold power button and up volume until it vibrates then hold the volume up until the blue led shows, meaning you entered fastboot mode. Then open a terminal for adb, wipe with fastboot commands and flash another rom of your choice.
I can flash zip using fastboot??
Code:
fastboot flash system rom.zip
Somehow key combo worked and I got into twrp and flashed rom
