[Q] camera photo preview default - LG G Flex

I've had the phone for a week now, and really liking it more than I expected. Coming from S4, where I rommed regularly, usually GPE variants, and finding I like the LG OS skin a lot.
A question though: I have the photo preview icon in lower corner of camera set to do Google Photos. I'd rather change it now to the LG Gallery app, but I can't see where to make that change. Tried defaults in settings>apps, but don't see it there either. Any suggestions?
One other issue I'm having is that I can't run google calendar. I've loaded it, removed it, re-installed it, and I get an error every time I try to launch it. Any idea why that is?
Thanks in advance.

Did you try clearing defaults for the google photos app? If I recall, you do it by going settings --> apps --> google+, and clearing defaults there, but I honestly can't recall for sure. Its been a while since I've done it.

Thank you - that did it for the camera issue. I forgot that the photos thing was actually google+.

[Q] Widgets/apps probs

Hi guys, I really hope I can get some help here, can't find anything about the problems I am encountering.
I am using this phone for about 4 weeks now, and it's working fine, except for some problems with widgets. I have problems with 3 apps/widgets now; they all worked fine on my old phone, a HTC Sensation XE (rooted, with different ROM's and Android versions). They all have strange behaviour. At first I thought I had some settings set wrong in the apps themselves, but I tried everything I could think of and now I have to conclude that the problems start with the phone itself.
I am encountering problems with the following apps:
aCalendar+: widget, but also opened app get in some kind of update loop; sync icon starts spinning, stops and immediately starts again, and on and on. It does sync properly though in the meantime.
Plume: Most of the time the widget does not respond to manually syncing. Only after I open the app and sync manually (which works fine), and go back to the widget, I can finally sync using the widget.
Transparent clock & weather: Most of the time, the clock does not keep track of the time, it just hangs. Only when I tap the widget, or refresh the weather, it syncs with the internal clock, like it should. Sometimes though, the clock does keep track for a short time, but in the end it will hang again.
I tried out a lot of different things with the P7 energy- and network apps settings. Also I upgraded to firmware version 126, but it all doesn't make any difference. It's all really annoying, especially because I never had those issues on my old phone.
Anybody got a clue?

Can you provide the play store links of this apps?
I would try and test it.
This apps are enabled in protected apps?

I have test this app.
I think you mean this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droid27.transparentclockweather
I was able to reproduce your problem and solve it.
Please set this app as "protected app". You didn't have set it, so the app would be closed then the screen get off.
You can set this: Settings -> Protected Apps -> Check the checkbox of this app.
Then your widget is working.
Then an app don't set up as protected, the app would be closed on screen off.

Thanks for your help, I already tried that out before. It do not think it made a difference though. Anyway, the time freezing issue also happened when using the phone for some time, I mean without screen off time, so it should not make any difference. But in the meantime I updated the app, and that seems to work.
The links for the other apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.withouthat.acalendarplus&hl=nl
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelup.touiteur&hl=nl
I contacted the developer of Acalendar+, and as far as I understood there should be an update coming in the near future that should resolve the problem. I installed another calendar app in the meantime, which just works flawlessly, so maybe I just stick to that one...
I hope Plume gets a working update too, so I can enjoy me phone without being annoyed
Thanks again for your effort!

Oops, I just found out you were right about the protected apps thing. I have not had the issue with the screen active since the last update, but indeed, after screen-off time, the issue is back again. So I guess I should indeed use the protected apps setting.
I don't understand why this is necessary though. I mean, the internal system clock just carries on ticking in standby mode, so why wouldn't the app just sync with that automatically when I activate the screen? Or would it be so that the app has always been active in standby mode on my old phone, and is it only because I now have this protected apps mode on this new phone that I am getting aware of this? If you understand what I mean, this is quite hard for me in English...

I've experienced similar issues. Like you I use aCalendar+ which is very good. However I don't use any of the widgets that come with this app. I prefer Smooth Calendar instead. So far, no problems at all. And as for the clocks, it seems a bit hit and miss. I was using DIGI Clock Plus but had no end of trouble with it. It just won't update on wake up. Protected or otherwise. I've given up on it. The clock widgets from HD Widgets work just fine. There's an amazing array to choose from. Maybe it's an Android issue, maybe Huawei. Who knows? I think the best solution is to find apps and widgets that work and discard those that don't.

Google Photos Issue

Anyone else having this issue? I prefer to use Google Photos as my default but I keep getting this message when I do either of two things:
1. try to delete photos
2. try to set a wallpaper
I've already given all permissions to Google photos and have even set it as the default gallery app. is there something else I'm missing?
nop
mine works fine
Yeah that bugs me, can't delete any image in Google Pics. Have to open Gallery to perform the deletion .

YES! I have to do the same thing. It's annoying. at least I'm not going crazy thinking I'm the only one having this issue.
I'm guessing there's an obvious setting some where that we've missed as no one else has replied!

Camera glitch

Every time I open the camera, I am greeted with a speech bubble tutorial that mentions the aperture mode.
I'm not even ON the apperture mode. In fact, if you go to the apperture mode, the tutorial DOESN'T pop up.
It ONLY pops up on the regular, default photo mode.
It annoying and shouldn't keep popping up every time.
I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before the OTA that I got last week.
Anyone else?
I use Open Camera. It's great - it actually integrates with Google Photos, so I can jump between the two apps; the Honor one pretends google photos doesn't exist. One downside of open camera is you can't disable the shutter sound (apparently it only lets you do that if the phone supports it).
Have you tried clearing cache and data of the default camera app?

Yep. Nothing fixes it. I'm certain it was the most recent update that did this.
There are loads of other bugs I've noticed since the update.
Changing text size to small and rebooting the phone results in the font size being reset back to medium.
Google photos is incredibly laggy now.
Phone signal is terrible.
Video quality decreased.
Battery life seems poorer.
Hoping the Pie beta invite comes soon. Wish I could roll back while I'm waiting.

Question Replacing google photo.

Hello, is there any way to make photos from camera app open in any other gallery app, not in google photos? It's kinda stink.
Also interested, the "Google apps" all suck

Oh this for the suggestion, I'll try that out.
By chance do you have any opinion on different dialers? Currently on the older version of Oxygen OS I'm running, the dialer is fantastic as it allows you to slide between the four tabs.
It looks like in all of the current dialers you have to manually tap each tab and you can't just slide to navigate...ugh

Sorry, I'm actually a fan of Google's apps here ... I use the Google Dialer and Google Contacts on Lineage, but I do highly recommend that simple gallery app lol
Simple gallery still doesn't solve the problem completely... Stock Google camera still needs Google photos for picture preview after taking it, can't get rid of it for good...

not sure of ANY fix for this, unless you replace the camera - which is why most people get a Pixel to begin with.

Question Issue saving any picture after miui update 13

Hi
i am unable to save any picture on my phone.
- download from fb not working.
- camera not working.
- printscreen not working.
all the problems started after updating my phone to latest MIUI update 13.0.3 global
any idea what's wrong here ??
Any error displayed?
sorry, wrong account again.
and no, just a toast saying couldn't save image , when i take a screenshot.
for facebook app, no error, but no photo is saved, the camera app just crashes without saving.
it has been 2 weeks now, the support suggested a factory reset, and i wont do it its too much backup and work, i believe there might be an easy way.

Seems like permissions to save to to sd card somehow got revoked. From the sounds of it since multiple apps are involved, factory reset might be better. You can use an app like Swiftbackup(cannot save data if not rooted unless you use shizuku) which will save lot of time and effort.

you sure ? because even for local storage, still same problem.
No idea what changed, facebook can save images now ! but only facebook, apps like 9gag can't, comics and manga can since ever.
Any updates ?
I found the solution, posted on reddit, precisely :

Ok. The solution is to turn off dual app support, reboot, and then turn dual apps back on again and reenable the ones you want back.
Annoying, but it works.
Screenshots work again also.
Hope this works for you, like it did for me.
Settings>Apps>Dual Apps>Hexagon>Delete dual apps' accounts>wait 5 seconds>Delete>Reboot
