Disclaimer:- Below mentioned links was upload By @daorderdillon this thread is comprehensive and explains in lot more detail
S-off,Rooting,firmware install,ota install,Rom install for butterfly s.
Carefully read each step before acting
don't use any kind of screen locks
Use this link to download 901e or 901s model attachments
Before We Begin
Have a micro USB cable handy.
Download and install the HTC USB drivers. Do this by downloading and installing HTC Sync Manager and following the instructions. HTC can be found by going to this link.
You will need this link to download adb and fastboot we will use it later.
All ways remember to uncheck "fastboot" in power tab in settings
Go to setting tap power go to end
And enable USB debugging
Go to setting tap "about" then tap "Software information" then tap then tap 7 times on "build number" to enable developer option enable in settings.

Only unlock bootloader isn't much help you will need s-off as well soooo....
How to get S_off butterfly s?
With S-off in other words security off you will be doing a lot of modifications.
We will use Firewater.
YOU HAVE TO BE ON STOCK RECOVERY AND ROM TO PERFORM THIS ACTION

S-off and unlocked bootloader needed
If you have stock CID you can proceed to step 1. If you have any other CID you need to change it before beginning. In this example I am talking about HTC__621 901e model.
Asia with CIDs HTC__044
Hong Kong with CIDs HTC__622
Taiwan with CIDs HTC__621
open up a command window in adb director in C:\adb or where ever you put adb and fastboot
hold shift and click right mouse button to open up a "command window here"
Type these commands.
Write the stock CID back to device by running this:
"adb reboot-bootloader" without ""
Phone should boot to the bootloader. Now run:
"fastboot oem writecid HTC__621" I prefer use this
or you can write
"fastboot oem writecid 11111111"
Now verify that the CID shows on the bootloader screen by running:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Reboot device if CID on bootloader screen shows the CID. If not retry
*****The next step will wipe the entire contents of the device which includes all of your data. Be sure to back it up to a PC so you can transfer it onto the new device if needed.*****
These instructions are assuming you are running a Windows OS. If you are not then these exe RUU’s won’t be of much use.
Download the firmware.zip file and place in your ADB/fastboot folder. I would recommend renaming the zip file to something simple like ruu.zip.
Boot your phone into the bootloader by holding the power and vol up/down buttons at the same time until you see the bootloader screen or if you have your phone booted you can use the ADB command:
adb reboot-bootloader
Now use these fastboot commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Should see the Silver HTC logo. Now issue this command to flash your phone using the ruu.zip file:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
Now the first time you issue a command to flash firmware/ruu in fastboot it only prepares the flash. You have to issue the exact command again:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The green status bar usually does not reach the 100% mark. When the output in the command window is complete, you can reboot:
fastboot reboot
**Notes about the RUU.zip method. You still need to have the proper CID for the RUU. You can run the RUU.zip with super CID, but you will have to lock your bootloader first. If you are running the RUU.zip as base to downgrade all your firmware because you are going to then going to restore a stock Nandroid so the RUU might not be made for your MID, so you may need to edit the android-info.txt inside the ruu.zip to include your MID or CID.
if you have sucessfully did this you can see hboot 1.54
How to install ota butterfly s?
YOU HAVE TO BE ON STOCK RECOVERY,ROM AND S-off TO PERFORM THIS ACTION
1. Check ROM version in Settings-About-Software Information, it MUST match second value in example case 1.21.709.3-1.12.709.2, if you have version different from 1.12.709.2, update will FAIL.
2. Make sure that your device running system without any app/files modifications, otherwise update will FAIL.
3. Your device must be S-OFF AND/OR LOCKED or RELOCKED, being S-ON and UNLOCKED won’t allow you to apply OTA update.
4. Check your recovery, official OTA can be applied ONLY on Stock Recovery, TWRP/CWM/PhilzTouch and etc can’t be used.
5. Now we can copy out OTA package in system storage, I recommend to copy file in root of the Internal Storage but its not necessary.
6. Turn off device.
7. Press Power button and Volume down button, keep them until you see bootloader.
3. After that use volume down button to make a choice at Recovery option and press Power button. Device will reboot in Recovery mode.
4. When recovery starts, you will see red triangle, don’t worry nothing bad happened.
5. Wait for a while and press both Volume buttons and click Power button. This combination allows you to enter Recovery menu.
6. Using volume buttons, navigate to ”apply from phone storage” option and press Power button.
7. Now you can choose your OTA package. In our example it will be stored in data/media/0/OTA_DLXPLUS_U_JB_50_hTC_Asia_TW_1.21.709.3-1.12.709.2_release_333902.zip then press Power button.
8. During installation you might need to follow some instructions on screen. Reboot device when installation finishes.
9. After reboot you will get message that you successfully updated your device
10.If you have already modified you device to a point where no OS is showing in hboot the device will reboot several times.
11.If you want JB 4.3
with sense 5.5 just download it normally in system updates.
if download ota fail
Go to cwm in advance format every thing except external sd card
format system
format internal storage
etc
flash stock firmware
flash cwm recovery
flash stock rom
flash stock recovery
then flash ota
read above and below how to flash

2.Connect your HTC Butterfly S to your PC using your micro USB cable.
3.Open a command prompt window in where you put recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.4-dlxpul.img. Do this by going into the fastboot folder, hold down the shift key and right clicking. Once you’ve right clicked, the windows context menu will appear. Select the option ‘open command window here’. A command prompt window will then appear.
4.To flash the custom recovery, enter the command below into the command prompt window.
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.4-dlxpul.img"
How to Root butterfly s?
1.Dowload This
2.Put it in internal storage.

re-lock before flash stock rom says HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE???

so HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE seems to say you need to relock your bootloader before you flash the stock ROM. I thought it would be the other way around???
HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
***(BEFORE YOU BEGIN)
- You MUST be on a stock ROM with the bootloader locked or re-locked
- If you are NOT locked/re-locked or you are on a custom ROM, then you MUST follow the following directions...
- Boot into H-Boot by powering off. Once off, power back on and hold VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON, once in HBOOT go to "fastboot" and click the power button to select
- Download the WCXJB ROOT PACK zip from the bottom to your desktop and unzip it
- Inside the unzipped WCXJB ROOT PACK folder, hold SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK, select open a command window here
- Run this code in the command prompt without quotes
- "fastboot oem lock"
- Now reboot
- Now, we will flash you back to the original stock ROM you were on
- Pick the RUU for your specific device. For example, the one for AT&T has the word "Cingular" in it, the one for Rogers says "Rogers" in it.
- You will find the RUU's here http://www.filefactory.com/f/002b74e0f4775869/ (THANKS to user football)
- Once you download the correct RUU, make sure your phone is plugged in via USB to your computer and you have the correct drivers (or just HTC Sync) installed on your computer
- Run the executable and follow the steps to flash the stock ROM
- Once the ROM loads, you can move on to the next steps
Same, but It is used with HTC Support. Unlocking allows CUSTOM ROMS That is a default HTC/Att/Whatever RomUtilityUpdate (RUU) so you need to be relocked for it to work or you will get errors and will not work
>>>so you need to be relocked for it to work or you will get errors and will not work
For it to work? what is "it", the RUU?
If so how do I relock it. when I adb devices I dont show up so I cant fastboot oem lock.
Sounds like you have the incorrect htc drivers installed. download the all in one toolkit in the android development and install the drivers and see if it shows up in adb.. just to make sure you have to be in hboot and the phone will say "Fastboot usb" in red text then you open a command window and type "fastboot oem lock"
>>>all in one toolkit in the android development
do you have a link for that?

[Q] Phone won't boot don't know what to do

I flashed an OTA update from this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368907, using CWTM and now my phone just sits at the HTC quite brilliant logo. I can access the bootloader but I can't get into recovery. Tried reflashing recovery to no avail. I'd like to know what I did wrong and how to fix it so if I screw up in the future I won't have to come here. Help is much appreciated and thanks in advanced.

Were you already s-off before you flashed the OTA? What rom were you using prior to the flash?
I'm guessing you will need to go back to 1.29 ruu to go back to stock before you continue on.
What was your reason for flashing the 1.31 OTA?
Yes I was s-off, I had the stock rom, I was experiencing some weird issues with any rom I was using and it continued when I restored my nan so I thought maybe upgrading to the latest OTA would resolve them.

Without knowing what you have done since you unlocked your phone, it is real hard to say what caused the weirdness. The only way, as far as I know, for you to get back up and running is:
to access fastboot,
make sure your phone is unlocked,
flash a recovery,
boot into the recovery,
run adb commands to set your ruu to 1.29
fastboot lock your phone again
run the RUU
reboot
unlock your phone again
reinstall a recovery
keep stock rom or flash a CDMA rom - one from this sprint htc one forum only!
That should set you up again and get you working.
I'm sorry i can't explain why things went wonky... it all really depends.
I already tried to reflash my recovery before I originally posted, all it does is say its going to recovery then it reboots. Without access to recovery IDK if I can RUU.
I was able to get into recovery but when I tried to install the RUU and it says it was good but when I reboot it is still just sitting at the HTC logo.

I will provide you with some steps to take, however; with out seeing things hands on I am just guessing. I am willing to use teamviewer to help you out this evening if you cannot get this working.
Here are the steps as I think they should work to get you back up and running.
**Make sure your phone is unlocked. (it should display ***UNLOCKED*** at the top of the bootloader screen)
if you ARE unlocked do the following: (+++see below if you are NOT unlocked+++)
1. from bootloader select fastboot - connect phone to computer. fastboot should change to fastboot usb when you have a good connection.
on your computer:
2. open a command window and navigate to the folder where adb and fastboot are located
3. type in "fastboot flash recovery xxxxxxxx.zip" where xxxxxxxx.zip is the name of recovery zip file without quotes. Make sure you download a good copy appropriate for your phone. I would use this one: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7w....1.0-m7wls.img
4. type fastboot reboot
on your phone:
5. once it is rebooted and in bootloader select recovery and boot into recovery.
on your computer:
6. once your phone shows recovery main screen, then on your computer at the command prompt type: adb shell
7. no matter what the resulting prompt looks like type: echo "1.29.651.10" | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19 bs=1 seek=160
8. no matter if it errors or not type: adb reboot bootloader
9. type: fastboot oem lock
10. type: fastboot oem rebootRUU
11. type fastboot flash zip xxxxxxxxxxxxx.zip where xxxxxxxxxxxxx.zip is the name of the ruu.zip file. i would use this one: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22926241640219526
12 reboot your phone once that is successful!! If you get the "flush image again immideately" error message then repeat step 11. then reboot your phone.
you should now be running a stock sprint phone.
you can now unlock your phone again and reinstall a recovery.
to unlock your phone the second time:
13. boot your phone into bootloader then go to fastboot - make sure the phone is connected to the computer
14. on your computer type in: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin - (if you get an error or this doesn't work go to HTC DEV to unlock again once you are unlocked make sure you are on the bootloader>>fastboot screen with fastboot usb showing then go to step 16).
15. on your phone select unlock with volume rocker and press power once unlock is selected
16. on computer type: fastboot flash recovery xxxxxxxxx.zip where xxxxxxxxxx.zip is the same recovery zip file we used above in step 3
17. reboot your phone and you are now unlocked and you have a custom recovery installed and you can download a CDMA compatible rom to your phone and install it with the recovery like normal. or you can continue to run stock.
MAKE SURE YOU ONLY DOWNLOAD CDMA COMPATIBLE ROMS FROM THE SPRINT HTC ONE FORUMS.
enjoii!!
+++if you are NOT unlocked+++
try the following:
step 13
step 14
step 15
step 16
step 4
step 5
step 6-17
make sure you complete all the way through 17 after you do step 6. good luck and let me know what your results are.
Again, if this does not work for you, then I am happy to teamviewer with you to fix your problem.

Updated Firmware, how to re unlock bootloader after locking it?

Have manually updated my HTC ONE M7 to FW 4.19.401.11 following these steps from the thread here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823...
1. Re-lock your bootloader (this will most probably wipe content of your device)
2. Copy downloaded .zip to fastboot.exe location (e.g. c:/SDK/platform-tools/fastboot.exe)
3. Re-name .zip file to firmware.zip
4. Open command prompt
5. Boot your device in fastboot mode (vol down + power ===> fastboot)
6. Connect device to the PC
7. In command prompt cd to fastboot.exe location
8. Make sure you have correct modeid and cidnum (type: fastboot getvar all)
9. Type: fastboot oem lock (if your device is not relocked yet)
10. Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot
11. Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
12. Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
13. Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
14. Type: fastboot reboot
15. Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.
But now the phone doesnt appear to boot im able to get into bootloader by holding down the volume button, any ideas why i cant boot into the HTC ONE do i need to re unlock the boot loader? If so how do you re unlock the boot loader after relocking it please?
EDIT: Im guess the phone doesnt boot as i need to flash a custom ROM??....if so do i have to re unlock the bootloader first?

1- Why did you relocked your bootloader?
2- ''HTC Bootloader Unlock Application'' doesn't say much. I guess you are referring to a toolkit which is not recommended to use
3- Why can't you unlock again? Get your identifier token from fastboot en send it to htcdev. Then flash your unlock code bin file to unlock your phone again. Then youll be able to flash a recovery and a rom...
I CAN`T flash unlock code because my phone not connected to my pc until I relock this!!!!!

not sure what you are trying to say here mate.
your phone doesn't need to be unlocked to be able to ''connect it'' to your pc. You should be able to use fastboot from bootloader to
1- get your identifier token
2- flash the unlock_code.bin to unlock it again
if you can't 'communicate with the phone using fastboot in bootloader, your drivers are not installed correctly on your computer.
in windows device manager, it should be listed as ''My HTC'' if your drivers are ok.

[Q] Phone is Dead :(

Ok, first off i was soff unlocked.. i then updated my phone to the latest OTA sense 6. I then tried to install customs roms which ended up not booting and forcing my phone to have no OS. so not being able to access the OS or sideloading roms, i tried RUUing but couldnt get the side to side error fixed. so then i continued to try and downgrade my firmware so i can ruu the official htc 3.xx one. as soon as i downgraded to hboot 1.55, my phone isnt recognized in fastboot anymore. so i can not access my phone from either adb or fastboot. anyone have any suggestions?

I recently had the same issue, you should be able to fix this by following these steps, keep in mind, continuing this process will unroot your device. Thus, you will loose all of your data on your phone.
first begin by booting into bootloader, then plugging in your device via usb cable to your computer, it should now say "fastbootusb" on the device's screen.
if you don't already have the the fastbooot files required for your computer, you can download them here: ftp.qbking77.(com)/Files/OneDrivers_Fastboot.zip
after that, extract the zip file somewhere on your computer, and open the fastboot folder. Now hold down shift and click on an empty space in the folder and choose open new command window here, or something along those lines.
Now that you've done this, type fastboot oem lock and press enter, this will relock your phones bootloader.
Now, unplug your phone from usb, and reboot back into fastboot, and once again, plug the device into the computer. Just as before, your phones screen should now say fastboot usb. You can now flash this file via fastboot by following the instructions below.
androidfilehost.(com)/?fid=23329332407568410
rename the file downlaoded to firmware.zip and copy it to the folder containing your fastboot.exe file
now in the command prompt window, type in Fastboot oem rebootRUU
you should now see a black screen with the HTC logo, type Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip,
once that is complete, type fastboot reboot and once more, reboot into fastboot
you can now download this RUU file from the following link: androidfilehost.(com)/?fid=23329332407573774
extract the zip folder somewhere on your computer
boot into bootloader, and once again choose fastboot,
plug in your usb cable to your phone and computer, and the phone should once again say fastboot usb.
now open the folder you extracted and run ARUWizard.exe, this will unroot your device and return you to stock.
now, if you wish, you may re root your device.
Hope this works, if none of this makes sense, mention it. I typed this up in a bit of a rush.
also, you will have to copy and paste the links, as I have not made 10 general posts, so I can't add direct links to my post. Sorry mate.
as far as your fastboot issue, try re installing the htc and fastboot drivers.

Was gifted the One. It's broken though. Help.

Just got my hands on this phone and I'm trying to figure out how to repair it. The phone is stuck in a boot loop with a red triangle and an exclamation mark! Can't do anything to get out of it. I don't know how or what happened to get it into this state. I'm familiar with android, but I'm new to HTC.
Any pointers on where to start troubleshooting? I've attached an image of what the HBOOT shows.
On the hboot screen select fastboot with the power button and run a RUU and it will restore to factory settings getting the phone up and running
I tried following this guide.

reboot bootloader, make sure it says fastboot usb
Run these comands in CMD (copy/past)
If you are s-on
Code:
fastboot oem lock
PRESS ENTER
If you are s-off it don't matter.
Code:
fastboot reboot bootloader
PRESS ENTER
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
PRESS ENTER
Code:
fastboot flash zip 6.16.651.2_firmware.zip
PRESS ENTER
Download this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j4n7tlvvj...PCS_4.38_003_release_414036_signed_2.exe?dl=0
Run it.
S-on will delete device, s-off won't, so if you plan on getting rid of device, and it is s-off, after reboot, select restore device and select delete internal storage (if you don't want others to see those selfies of you eating banana split in PJ's with your cat)

I'm running into issues with the last step from flashing the RUU.exe update utility. The flash kept freezing at "Updating (1/6) sending..." for over half an hour each time I tried to redo it. I downloaded the encrypted RUU rom.zip and tried to flash via CMD prompt. That ALSO failed with a "signature verify fail." What am I doing wrong? Is it hard bricked?
