[Q] Trying to install KK OTA - stock, rooted - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Moved this question from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51198721
I'm currently stock, rooted, S-OFF, and TWRP recovery. I'm flashed to 3.06.651.6 firmware.
I still get the OTA notifications, and my goal is to install the latest OTA update (without RUU) so that I can preserve data. I've created a TWRP backup, but that's the extent of it.
Any help is appreciated.
Other background - I reverted back to 3.06.651.6 after flashing firmware 4.06.xxx because I could not boot normally after that or did not know how.
My bootloader says Tampered, relocked

Ok
I have never done an OTA or Ran an RUU personally.
To the best of my knowledge you will have to flash the stock recovery and a stock rom to be able to take the OTA.
Sidenote: You say you are re-locked...when you unlock again it's going to wipe your device.
Backup everything important to your PC then run the RUU stuff is gonna get wiped either way might as well use the RUU as it's a cleaner method.
You'll have to flash the 4.06 firmware I pointed you to from the other thread to get the required hboot.

Serious Q - Am I not On the stock ROM if I never switched ROMs?
But OK, s=you're saying if I were even able to get the stock revoery reloaded, and receive the OTA, but then if i try to unloack bootloader after that I won't be able to? Also serious Q - Do you have a link on performing a good nandroid backup?
Next - if I did run the RUU, how would i quickly restore my data - just using titanium backup? is that the quickest/only way?

If you never changed roms then yes you are on a stock rom.
To unlock the bootloader again you would use Htc Dev again(unless you still have your unlock token) and by doing so it will wipe your phone.
Only way to nandroid is to have a custom recovery which means unocking bootloader.
I personally don't use Titanium Backup so can't answer that...I backup my phone/sdcard to my PC at least once a month (copy and paste to a folder on my PC)

[Q] Question on order to go through for s-off, root, etc.

I just picked up an AT&T HTC One locally and it has HBOOT 1.44, S-ON. It's also 1.26.502.10 and there is pending OTA update for it (I assume to get it to 1.26.502.15).
I'm trying to make sure I get the progression of steps properly and here's what I have, looking for corrections
Backup - Holo Backup (formerly Simple ADB Backup) or adb CLI tools - This will let me backup as much as humanly possible without any kind of unlock/root, correct? I can also just copy/paste everything I'm allowed to when the phone shows up in Windows as a drive. I'm trying to make sure I Have as much original as-shipped phone data as possible
S-OFF - As I have HBOOT 1.44, I might as well do S-OFF, yes? I just run revone and done?
Unlock - Do I have to use htcdev.com for bootloader unlock if I have S-OFF, or is there an alternate method?
Custom Recovery - Install whichever I like, anyone have an opinion on best one available today?
Backup - With the custom recovery, I can do a nandroid backup and backup the stock ROM, correct?
Root
Do whatever I want
Is this order correct? Will this insure I have everything I need to do a 100% restore to stock, or is there something else I need to do or get? If I go this route, will I be able to set the bootloader back to S-ON and LOCKED (as opposed to RELOCKED) ?
Lastly, the question of the pending OTA update. Is this something I should inset into the process above, or is there another way to get what's included in the update? For AT&T I understand it to include radio firmware which I want to make sure is current.
I don't know about step 1.
But instead of installing custom recovery first time i'd use the command:
fastboot boot recovery.img.
That way you can boot into custom recovery and do a nandroid backup that will contain the stock recovery.
Then install custom recovery.
All the other steps seem right.
I did the unlock and root before s-off. I believe if you are using HTCdev you should unlock first, if you are unlocking a different way might not matter.
With s-off there's no need to use htcdev.
So here's what I ended up with so far:
Backup - Used Holo Backup/Simple ADB Backup and did a backup of every possible option. Also ran backup directly with adb from Android SDK using "adb backup -apk -all". I'm sure I have quadruple copies of stuff, but better safe than sorry
S-OFF - Performed with revone
Unlock - Performed with revone (in same step as S-OFF)
Backup using custom recovery - Per your suggestion Ardmanz, I booted a custom recovery while the stock recovery was still installed, then did a full backup from the custom recovery. I did this with both CWM and TWRP, mainly because I wanted to get a feel for each custom recovery, but also to get a couple backup sets, incase one ended up bad for some reason
So that leaves me with flashing custom recovery and root, and then onto trying out custom ROM's.
One thing I'm still not sure on is addressing the updates from the pending AT&T August 1 OTA update. I know it includes new radio software, but not sure if it has any other important software. Am I safest to just find the relevant items from within the OTA and apply them with adb given that I'm S-OFF, or should I take the OTA directly before I start with any custom recovery/root/rom's? I know there is a new HBOOT in the update but I thought I read that since I did S-OFF with revone I'm pretty much protected from any updates or locks that come form OTA and I can always downgrade/reverse/etc, but not really certain on it.

[Q] Restoring Rogers HTC One M7 to Factory without RUU ?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post so I hope I don't end up being a "typical noob".
I'll try give the full info but keep it concise.
Background:
1) Carrier Unlocked HTC One M7 Originally on Rogers.
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-On RH
HBoot-1.44.000
Radio - 4A.14.3250.13
Open DSP 26.120.274.0202
emmc-boot
2) The phone was working perfectly after being hard reset, and configured without a sim.
3) After it was activated by the telco, the keyboard would would no longer work. Dialpad fine... menus fine... but no keyboard would pop up when selecting text fields. Did a full factory reset, and also tried clearing the Sense Touch data cache via Settings->App.
4) After trying various possible solutions I found online, I finally decided to try start from scratch by installing stock firmware.
WARNING: i'm the second owner of the phone. For warranty I would have had to send the phone to HTC. I suspect the HTC warranty won't apply to me anyhow. I suggest that in this situation, people just get the phone fixed on warranty if they have that option
First Steps:
A1) I unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev and used adb to flash CWM Touch Recovery.
A2) Restored the "M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID ROGER001 / 1.29.631.17 (Rogers - Thanks to Whampahoofus)"
A3) Phone now works correctly at this stage, but is still bootloader unlocked/tampered + CWM Touch Recovery
A4) While I may eventually flash the phone to an official Developer Edition
I would like to reinstall a factory recovery.img, then use revone to get rid of the bootloader "tampered" flag and relock it. (for OTA Updates, and the usual warranty concerns)
A5) I tried flashing both the boot.img and recovery.img from "OTA_M7_UL_JB_50_Rogers_WWE_1.29.631.17_R-1.29.631.4_release_318662" to get back to stock recovery, but I got a Red triangle.
Questions:
Q1): Does anyone know of a stock recovery.img I can use with Rogers firmware ? (SEE UPDATE BELOW)
Q2): Is there some trick to getting the OTA recovery/boot images I tried....working ? Is there some cache reset of somthing that needs to be done after flashing the stock recovery/boot imgs ? (SEE UPDATE BELOW)
Thanks in advance !

I too am looking for a rogers ruu or even the M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID ROGER001 / 1.29.631.17 (Rogers - Thanks to Whampahoofus) since bugsys page is down.

P.S. For pure curiousity.... Am I correct in believing that revone can't clear the "tamper" flag and lock the bootloader with the custom recovery ?

A lot of the RUUs and nandroid files were apparently "saved" to "Crushalot's" site: htc1guru.com
you can also get the file links in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276
I used that nandroid backup. I don't think a Rogers RUU exists (yet).
UPDATE ON MY PROGRESS:
1) I had success with using revone to get my M7 S-Off and removed the tampered flag in the bootloader.
I suspected that SuperSU wasn't working right becaue i hadn't been getting a root permission popup window on the phone.
On I reinstalled SuperSU, I got the root rights popup window when running revone, and it then worked.
2) I have realized that the firmware.zip, which is contained in the OTA update, contains the factory recovery and boot image I needed.
(I kept thinking that it was an incremental update and not a complete image or something, due to it's size.)
Therefore, instead of flashing the images individually, I used the firmware.zip from the OTA update to do a complete firmware update.
3) The Red triangle I was getting was, normal. I couldn't find clear info, so I assumed it was a bad sign because the only time i had seen the factory recovery was when it was upating with a red circle/arrow. So.. I thought the red circle/arrow was the icon you wanted to see.
Eventually I found a thread for a different HTC Phone, that also works for the M7
Result: You can use the volume up + power buttons to enter the recovery once the red triangle appears.
4) After installing the firmware (extracted from the OTA update), I used revone to set the phone back to S-ON, then locked it.
5) The OTA update then automatically installed, as a stock phone would.
6) After the OTA update, for some reason the tampered flag is back. I'll be using revone today to fix that.
UPDATE 2
:
6) After the OTA update, for some reason the tampered flag was back. I unlocked the phone, used revone to to get S-OFF, then used revone to reset the tamper flag and relock the bootloader, and then "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" to set S-ON.
After 2 reboots the Tampered flag was back !
I'm suspecting that for the tampered flag to stay off I need to keep it S-OFF, which defeats the whole idea of trying to return it to stock.
Any ideas ?
Anyone working for Rogers want to leak an RUU ? hehe
Did you use CWM to flash the firmware.zip in step 2? I'm trying to follow your steps to get back to stock to obtain my stock rogers update but i'm getting lost as to what you're using to flash, recovery or fastboot.

Tampered will come back the second you flash a recovery. Best to stay S-OFF
I've been in a similar situation where I had to send my phone in for repair and couldn't get the tamper flag to stay off.
I found out it was because I was trying to remove the flag and lock the bootloader and S-On on 1.29.631.17
What I had to do was restore using CWM back to 631.4 then flash stock recovery then remove flag, lock bootloader, then S-On.
The tamper flag should stay off you can try rebooting a couple of times then boot into bootloader to check.
Then I ran the OTA updates and i'm on 631.17 at the moment and my tamper flag is still off.
Hope this helps.
PS. I believe the latest JB4.3 OTA update upgrades the hboot to 1.55 so revone would not work on it. Not planning to try it myself but if anyone can verify this would be great

Thanks for the heads up. If I get a bunch of free time I may just test that after doing a new full backup.
Not sure about the Rogers 4.3 OTA.
I'm running currently the phone with Developer Edition ROM+CID and can confirm that it's 4.3 OTA updates hboot to 1.55.
After the update my phone is still s-off.
I have previously rolled back to an older hboot via a firmware flash.
Since the phone is still S-OFF, I assume I can do that again if needed.

Thanks For the reply Eddy.
Recovery flashing sets the tampered flag even if it's a factory recovery from an OTA being flashed ?
I agree on the S-OFF normally.
This was a test to see if I could get it back to full stock for warranty if needed, and S-OFF would not be acceptable in that case.

I have this nandroid backup but can't figure out how to flash it... I also can't relock to try and flash a legit version

So what do I do with the M7 CWM Nandroid Backup CID ROGER001 1.29.631.17 2013-06-03.zip
I can't flash it and it won't recognise it as a backup, how do I even install it?

Simply doing a web search for info would have given you the answers on many many webpages and some youtube videos.
http://bit.ly/1a6d88A
http://bit.ly/1a6ewZ5
Quick answer:
1) Nandroid backups are created and used by the custom recovery "clockworkmod"
2)You need to install a CWM custom recovery (i like the touch version), then unzip the nandroid backup file to the /clockworkmod/backup/ folder. It will create a new folder there. I used the program "Android File Transfer" to copy the files from my laptop to the phone.
3) Once the backup file is on your phone, to restore the backup, you simply boot into recovery and restore the backup as explained in those web pages or youtube videos.
If you have specific things you have tried.... folder names... etc. then ask a question in detail.
You will then have a much higher chance of getting a correct answer (or even an answer at all)
Hope that helps a bit...
Cheers

Hello bklam,
Sorry, I missed your question.
No. I used CWM only to restore the "Whampahoofus"' nandroid backup.
That backup is "almost" 100% stock. Unfortunately it contains a custom recovery and won't (in my experience) work for normal OTA updates.
To solve this I decided to extract the factory firmware from one of the old Rogers OTA ("unrar" will extact the files from the OTA), and flash that.
To flash it I used the quick instructions in the 1st post of this thread-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
(I believe there were more details instructions on firmware.zip flashing in another thread but I can't find it at the moment)
Note to other readers: There can be confusion about the word "firmware". Some people use it describe the Rom.
In this case, I'm referring to the hboot, boot and recovery images in a single special file called firmware.zip. I believe in some cases it can also include the radio software too.
If I ever get a chance to get this 100% tested and figured out, I'll post a step by step method.
At this point it's just a overview of what I tried, and looking for other members advice.
Unfortunately, as you can see from my posts, it didn't work 100% for me. It gave me the stock Rogers HTC One Rom/software with OTA updates, but the bootloader still had the tampered flag.
Check out ysl00's post above. He/She evidently had it working 100% without the tamper flag.
Not sure if Rogers has a 4.3 OTA yet, but that might fix the flag since it includes a firmware update along with the OS update.
Post back with your results !

Good to hear. I read your post. I thought..."Is he using a root file manager ?" then read your next post….
I was also going to suggest a guaranteed way to determine where the CWM backups are being stored on a phone.
This way it doesn't matter which version of CWM, which phone or if the back directory exists yet.
Simply create a test backup and see where it goes. Then copy the Nandroid backup that you want to restore, there.
I should mention that I'm currently running my phone as a Developer Edition (Brightstar) 4.3 with OTAs, S-OFF, and unlocked.
It's works perfectly. Only the Carrier ID (CID) needed to be changed. The MID is the same.
I assume that a brightstar RUU will work on it now, even if the phone was locked and S-ON.
I have a few more things I want to tweak on it, then I'll likely make a backup and try restore it to stock rogers again so that I can create a clear how-to.
What's interesting, is that the Developer Edition OS seems to be the same as the Rogers Edition OS (without the rogers apps which can be uninstalled).
The only reason I think it might be a better choice is that the Dev Edition should get OTA updates earlier than the Rogers Edition.
I tried the custom Viper Rom 2.6.x but couldn't get an LTE connection. I suspect that was due to APN settings, but I didn't confirm that.
Anyone got the Viper Rom fully working on a Roger HTC M7 ?
Alright so I've successfully re-installed that nandroid backup and enabled s-off, re-locked, and removed the tampered notification.
When I try to do the OTA update it just hangs at the bug fix1. It default opens and tries to install it through cwm recovery, I've never done any OTA updates before so I assume this is normal?
How can I fix it hanging at bug fix1?

The OTAs don't work with custom recovery. You need the factory recovery

Ota 4.3 & twrp 2.6.3.0

I am relatively new to the HTC. I am running a Stock rooted image with TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery.
The OTA for 4.3 came down and whenever I start the install the phone reboots and ends up in twrp recovery and I do not know where to go from there. I tried searching the forums but the search is down at the moment.
Here comes the Noob question : A little help please as I am not sure where to go next?
I just asked almost the same question. One thing everyone says is don't take the OTA update.
I found a few places with the pre-rooted stock ROM update, but it does not include the firmware update, that is a separate flashable zip, but I'm not sure how to update the "Full Firmware w/o hboot, boot, recovery" without S-off. I don't know if doing the "full firmware update" will mess up my recovery/root.

I have been all over the forums looking at this and came up with squat.
If I take the OTA will I loose root? Can't seem to find an answer to that.
I was running an earlier version of twrp and thought that might be the issue but after updating twrp I am still at the same place. The sprint update notifications are still coming.
If I find something I will post it here.
Must be on stock firmware and recovery to take the update guys.... It has been posted numerous times. You must also ahve the stock kernel.
Yes you will lose root if you take the OTA, you always do. Also TWRP appears to be broken with 4.3, no responsive, etc, etc

Here comes the Noob question : A little help please as I am not sure where to go next?

you can't flash the update with custom recovery installed, you need thev stock recovery image which is posted numerous times in this forum

You can take the OTA if you are prepared for, and know what to do - also, don't take it if you are currently S-ON and ever want S-OFF because it comes with a new hboot.

Yes, you will probably lose root unless you are using the OTA preservation function of SuperSU and it works for you, but either way, it is easy to get it back.
Bottom line, how you take the OTA depends on whether you are S-ON or S-OFF, the latter is much easier. Assuming you are S-ON and running the Sprint stock ROM, here is what you need to do.
1. Flash stock recovery.
2. Lock the bootloader
3. Take the OTA update
4. Unlock the bootloader
5. Flash custom recovery (TWRP)
6. Flash root (SuperSU)
If you are S-off you can skip numbers 2 and 4.

Thanks for the replies. It's very confusing whether people are referencing the OTA update, or the tweaked, rooted downloadable update (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46110767). This forum should be friendly to questions when things are confusing.
Even with the two replies on this thread, it's still not clear to me if the downloadable (NOT OTA) updates can be flashed with a custom recovery, or what the procedure is for an S-On device regarding firmware and ROM updates. Sorry to offend anyone if they feel this has been answered somewhere in the forums, but it's still unclear to some of us.
EDIT:
@PillowMetal Thanks for the very helpful reply. I guess the next question is, is it possible to get S-Off on 1.31.651.2 without losing everything?

If your not stock ota will mess you up big time. I just rooted my HTC one on sprint with the update that was on a swap out for bad speakers . Twrp isn't responsive if you use the one in toolkit. I downloaded 2.6.3 loaded it in the data folder of toolkit installed through the toolkit and bam... I got response out of Twrp. I'll find the link and post for you guys.

Not without losing everything because it requires tricking your bootloader by writing to your misc partition, then running the 1.29 RUU - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7wls
This is the link for people who are stock and unlocking their phone. If you're using the toolkit put it in the data folder and rename to twrp. Be careful though the other files are the same name but in capital letters! Flash it and u will have responsive twrp and rooted 4.3 ota

Think I messed up a step in my attempt to return to unroot to be ready to get the 4.3 jellybean update. I was stock rom 1.29, rooted, SuperSU, twerp 2.6.3. Unlocked sim. I unistalled SuperSU using the full unroot option and relocked the bootloader. When the phone attempts to update it reboots into the bootloader straight into fastboot. Will not reboot and stay in hboot. Recovery option does nothing. Do I even want the ota 1.31? Do I just skip the OTA 1.31 and get the 4.3 jellybean update. I'm new first Android phone. Sorry for the idiocy I have portrayed here. Hope someone can help with knowledge of OTA's and Jellybean update. My problem seems so simple compared to all the other posts I read but I can't seem to figure it out on my own. Thanks everyone

Did you flash stock recovery? The OTA needs that. You did not need to unroot though. Also not sure if having an unlocked SIM interferes with OTA, never performed that myself. Since we don't have RUUs for anything later than 1.29, then yes, you will need to take the 1.31 OTA update first, then the 3.04 update.

Darn, no I did not flash the stock recovery. Also I read another thread said I needed to unroot!lol So I was back tracing my steps to unroot, so I thought.. I did save the original backup before installing Twerp 2.6.3 and rooting so its in there if I can get to it. I really dont know how to proceed from here. There are no options in the bootloader to proceed.

Maybe you can help. Will a re-install of the stock ruu 1.29 without removing twerp 2.6.3 and reverting to stock recovery cause issues.. Will this just completely re-install everything including stock Recovery or will twerp remain. I am running stock 1.29 rom, did save an original backup when I loaded twerp. How would I get in it to load it. Then I would not need to load the complete ruu. When I try for the ota it used to reboot to twerp. Since I unrooted it reboots to bootloader and there are NO options for load, Recovery option doesnt work. I have asked this question on several threads no one seems to know or its too simple for them to reply since I'm a newb. Thanks

Are you S-Off? Is so, the easiest way to to get up to date for you would be to RUU back to 1.29 which will restore everything on your phone back to stock including recovery. Make sure you copy anything you want to keep off your phone's internal memory (/sdcard) because it will wipe that too.
But from there, you can then easily take the OTA update for 1.31, then take the update for 3.04. Now you have the latest and greatest and can now flash TWRP, SuperSU, and any 4.3 ROM you want. With S-Off, you do not need the bootloader unlocked, but if you want to, you can flash an old hboot 1.29 from May or earlier and use revone -u, or go through htcdev to unlock. But like I said, totally unnecessary and more of a pain for me than it is worth.
Now, if you are S-ON, that is a totally different story, you cannot flash back to 1.29 RUU unless you still on 1.29 and have not updated to 1.31 yet. If you are currently on 1.31 you will have to try and restore the backup you said you had through TWRP, flash stock recovery from fastboot, re-lock your bootloader and all kinds of other crap to get to 3.04 and unlocked and rooted again.
You would have to tell me more about what condition your phone is currently in. hboot version? recovery custom or stock? ROM version installed? S-On or S-Off, etc.

Was told if I un-rooted and relocked the bootloader I should be able to update. This is a brand new phone. No data to worry about losing.
Currently:
Stock ROM 1.29, S-On, (Was rooted) Now Unrooted
Hboot 1.44 (Bootloader relocked)
Twerp Recovery (although with attempt to update to 1.31 twerp did not open as it did in prior attempts to update before unroot)
Now You have opened an interesting subject. Do I need to S-off before any updates to defeat the new hboot? New stuff is being written for the new hboot as we speak right? Read a thread last night about it. Sounded like they could s-off a 1.31 and I wouldn't need to worry about s-off'ing before upgrading. It also seems like I should be able to re load the backup of the stock recovery somehow and skip the complete load of the ruu 1.29 since I am already running it. I am probably making somethong more difficult than it needs to be but I would like to learn the little details. My first Android here. Want to learn quickly here as I Also bought the New 4g LTE Nexus 7 tablet with jelly bean. I get 4g LTE from T-mobile and just hotspot my phone.

If you don't want to go the RUU route, then the condition your phone is currently in would only require you to flash stock recovery from 1.29.651.10 (which I got from the actual OTA file). The problem is that your bootloader is now locked and your are S-ON, so you will not be able to flash stock recovery unless you unlock again. If you still have the unlock.bin file from htcdev, that will still work if was done on your current hboot version, otherwise, you would have to visit the site again. Then flash stock recovery, and relock bootloader again. Then the 1.31 update will succeed followed by the 3.04 update.
As far as S-OFF, if you ever want it, you should get it now before updating to anything - even 1.31 (as long as the date on your hboot is May 2013 or earlier). Because, you WILL get the new hboots when you update to 1.31 and 3.04 and since you are S-ON, you will be stuck with it. There is no guarantee that you will ever be able to get S-OFF again with the new hboots. People on hboot 1.54 have been waiting and clamoring for months and there has been no progress and other phones have never even been able to get S-OFF.
Using revone to S-OFF will not wipe your phone or remove anything, it does not require root, and it you do not need to be unlocked. I have performed it from the computer 3 times on Sprint phones and even have made a post about how to make it succeed. There is also a video showing how it can be done on the phone too via terminal emulator, but that method requires root.
Having S-OFF just makes life so much easier, but with it carries great responsibility because security has been turned off and you need to know what you are flashing or you can run into trouble. But as long as you can get to the bootloader, you can recover.

[Q] Help unrooting and removing tampered (S-Off doesn't work, and no RUU for Rogers).

I've been trying for a while to get my HTC One back to stock (it is rooted), but have been unable to. I can't figure out how to unroot the darn thing, yet alone remove the tampered line from the bootloader...My main focus is to unroot it, Superuser is being stubborn and won't go away no matter what I do (installed SuperSU, which removes Superuser, but then Superuser comes back once the phone reboots).
I have tried nearly EVERYTHING I've found on here, Rogers, for whatever reason, does not have an RUU file for the HTC One. I have a nandroid backup, as well as boot.img and recovery.img, does that help me? I can't even boot into TWRP now, it just goes back to the Bootloader and I get a security warning under the "UNLOCKED" line.
I do want to remove "tampered" from the bootloader, but my HBOOT is 1.54, and Rumrunner says that doesn't support the device configuration.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm new to Android and just want this phone back to normal. Thanks XDA has been very helpful with learning what Android is about!

Okay, if you cannot S-Off, you cannot remove the tampered. But my understanding is that if you change your ROM, your rumrunner eligibility will change. The ROM needs to match one of their configurations.
If you have an original nandroid backup, you can restore that and it will be unrooted. Finally, you can restore the stock recovery. But you can't boot the custom recovery? Maybe you need to re-flash it. Try installing a newer version (of the same type you used to make the backup). If your bootloader is locked, you'll need to unlock it to re-flash.
If you have the stock recovery, you can attempt to unroot while the system is running (using ADB), but that's risky because you could leave yourself in a half-rooted state where some super-user app is installed, but root is actually not working.

The ARHD guys are hosting what appears to be the stock ROM in a recovery-flashable format. Look here and find "stock odexed". That's probably not modded or rooted. If it works, you can install the stock recovery from the same site.

you may wanna try one of the Guru Reset ROMs: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
one compatible with your firmware (from "fastboot getvar all")
the Guru Reset is stock odexed ROM, but has ability to select ROOT. (unselect "stock recovery", or you will loose your custom recovery and have to flash it back)
Once you're s-off, you may wanna take a peek at my guide (in my signature) on returning to stock.
and BTW: a 95MB RUU is impossible, has to be around 1GB

[Q] Applying OTA Update on rooted phone with S-ON

HI there,
I have a rooted HTC One M7 Stock ROM hboot 1.57 S-ON and now I got the following update:
Software update: 6.14.111.2 (659.71 MB)
System improvements
-Android 4.4.3
-OpenSSL security improvement
Application updates
-Camera
-Gallery
-HTC Sync Manager
My question is, how can I apply the update? I already tried but since I have twrp as recovery it didn't go through. Is there a way of applying the update without losing root and my current configuration (contacts, apps, SMSs, etc)? Should I try to get S-OFF first? (I already tried to no avail like two months ago)
What is the best option to get it working with the latest software version? Sorry if my questions seem a bit too noob. I already tried looking for a similar thread.

you first need to flash your stock recovery back and then the content of /data/preload if you can find it for your version. Otherwise you will need to restore your phone back to stock or to use custom roms.

Thanks again alray, very much. So you mean, if I manage to get the /data/preload and stock recovery working and run the OTA,
Will I lose root access?
Will I lose my actual configuration?

Yes you should be able to run the OTA updates if you have stock recovery for your version and the content of /data/preload for your version. Best way to know is to flash you stock recovery back and try the ota. If the ota fails, enter the stock recovery menu and you'll see why the ota installation aborted (which file is missing)

You should not, but better to backup everything before proceeding.

If you have a backup and restore it, it will restore your phone to the same state it was when you did that backup. (data, system and kernel)
