[Q] ATIV-S Registery - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to open the register via the Interop Unlock helper app.
If I touch the toast notification, it opens the blue "samsung" screen, but it doesn't go into the register, as it should.
Is it even possible to use this method on GDR3?

Is there any way to get it working on GDR3? I might aswell wait for 8.1 and hope they enable it there...

Oh FFS dude... there are *multiple* threads already discussing this, use search (if you can't be bothered to read the full thread for a given hack before trying to apply it, which you should be doing anyhow). There's bold text RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE INTEROP UNLOCK THREAD telling you that it wouldn't work...
If you didn't install Diagnosis before installing the Samsung update that comes with GDR3 (it's not GDR3 itself that's the problem, it's the Samsung firmware update), then you will need to roll back to an older ROM. Simple as that. I'd like to find a new approach, but I'm mostly focusing on getting root on Samsung phones, and on non-Samsung-specific interop hacks, for now.

if you unlocked your phone with chevron or any other registry editor you are fully unlocked. However if you have a true developer unlocked phone (via a dev account with MS), then you cannot install interop apps on Mango. See here for details.
A user with a legit dev unlocked device cannot deploy ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES xaps. They just get the dreaded E: 0x81030120 error.
Here is what the expert says.
but there is hope for Samsung and HTC users. Heathcliff just released a new procedure to fully unlock without going back to NoDo here.

btw. there is another thread announcing the app. Schaps also updated the registry editor which works fine on my LG Quantum.
there is no straight forward way to uninstall the newly installed apps from the settings page. I successfully uninstalled with XAPDeployX. Sideload the xap again and check "force uninstall if application is already installed". Then click deploy. The program will uninstall the existing one on the device first and report this in the deploy tool with a success message. Right then you unplug the phone from the USB. Voila - it is now uninstalled and gone from settings.
Somebody else posted that you can install an older version (e.g. v1.3) that will show up in apps. Then you uninstall and it normally and it will be removed from settings as well.
just in case it doesn't work for you and you want to remove it...

OK. So how do I illegitimately unlock my dev-account-with-MS-unlocked Mango phone?
And thanks.

if you are on Mango until now only LG users were able to get into the registry via the MFG tool to unlock their devices. Other users would have to go back to NoDo, fully unlock, set measures to prevent relock and then upgrade. But Heathcliff seems to have found a way to do this without going back to NoDo. He seems to be very close to a solution, working on Samsung and probably soon on HTC as well. I'd suggest you wait and follow that thread before going the painful back-to-NoDo route.

I'm on Mango beta. To install the official release, I'll have to revert to NoDo. I did on a previous phone, and escaped unharmed.
So depending on which arrives first, how do I fully unlock, etc. before installing the official update? I tried previously, but must've done something wrong because it didn't work.
I am following Heathcliff's thread. With reverence, awe and bated breath.
Again, thanks.

Many believe that if on 7720.68 you will just see firmware and radio updates rolled out to your device and you are all set. We really do not know at this point and might as well throw a coin. There seems to be some evidence that those on 7720.68 won't have to roll back.
If you do have to go back then unlock and stay locked using these guides
one, two
im on unlocked samsung focus mango 7720.68 using version 1.4
deployed OK & showing under settings but when clicked i get error "UnauthorizedAccessException"
then if i hit OK then the app opens but i do not think its working correctly after that
Tried to install on my hd7 with mango, but can't see on my apps list. Don't know why because it was working fine with 1.3
Version 1.4.0.0 now resides in your settings, not in your applist.

Change of IE Search from Bing to Google (or any other) doesn't work on my HTC Tryophy either. Everything else works like a charm, I'm super glad for this new version - now we just need the IE Search to be changed away from Bing

developer unlock to full interop unlock ? possible after Tango ?

I've been running around in circles for hours, is it possible to go from a developer unlock to a full interop unlock -after- having updated to Tango 7.10.8773.98 ? I can load some XAP's, but root tools and wintt fail.
I had to format my PC and lost my backup.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I will be going to my local at&t device support center and getting my phone flashed. I'm hoping the guy there can use the oldest rom he has and or give me a copy of it. I'll post results.

no is the short answer if you have already got the newer firmware, the Windows build has little to do with it,although the tango builds do phone home to relock but that can be prevented
dev unlock is not interop unlock, which is needed to access high privileged functions
if you didn't update the firmware but you did let it relock then simply reapply the unlock and then apply the relock prevent xap, but I suspect you have already tried that suggesting you have the new firmware as well

perhaps ATT will flash the older ROM, I doubt it though and I doubt it even less that they would give you a flashable copy
but stranger things have happened so lets (hope) wait and see
Not what I really wanted to hear, but that's about what I figured/expected. I can't imagine going into AT&T & finding someone who had a clue about re-flashing a WP device.

change the device ID to a nokia
goto HKLM system platform
change OEMdevicename to Lumia 900
OemName to NOKIA ( that is case sensitive)
MODeviceName Lumia 900
that will stop the Samsung update notification and also let you use nokia apps
oh before you change them can you post what yours say? im curious about something

[Q] Diagnosis error

Hei guys can somebody help me?I'm using the guide to interop unlock samsung ativ s but when i click toast notification i remain with this.(see on photos)
And i can't acces registry editor. How can i acces registry?
The phone is dev unlocked with official GDR3.
Try this
I'm gonna give this a try but how can I acces phone/data?Its seems to not appear on computer.
*Sigh*
Reading. You should try it sometime, before trying to run hacks you don't understand.
Tell me: What does the second line (you know the one with bold text tell you you're doing wrong?
@sp4rt4n-i17: The problem isn't that his RPC is blocked (although it is), it's that Samsung removed the registry editor from the version of Diagnosis built into their latest firmware. I'm pretty sure that if Diag has been installed *prior* to the update it would work, but it seems that this is not the case here.
You need to either downgrade, or install one of the "custom ROMs" that just make the relevant changes. Check the Dev&Hacking sub-forum.

Trying to get interop-unlocked

Ok, so I unfortunately never unlocked my phone before the official GDR3... But now am wanting to. Does anyone know of a way to roll back to GDR2 on the Ativ S Neo SPH-I800? I realize this is a long-shot, but am really needing a hotspot now, and don't want to pay Sprint for it. Suggestions? Note that I've also updated to 8.1 :/ I realize it was incredibly stupid to not do this stuff before updating.
Edit: note, I did get the diagnoses app before updating to GDR3, though I doubt that will help. Any code I could punch in to get me where the toast would?
I did the same exact thing with my t899m ativ s. I ended up flashing wolfs custom csc using his fake rom. Works perfect. Post in that thread since I'm pretty sure he's gonna have to make the csc file for your phone/sw version.
Only thing I had to do after reset was do the rpc unblock.

You can try to interop-unlock it with wolf's fake rom,
Read here (all the thread) and you'll be able to unlock it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480510
Unlocking GDR3 you would only need to create Non-Production Errors.txt to your phones documents folder and then you can unlock as with GDR2 (at least on the GT-I8750, I assume this works on your device also). Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573355
Since you are now on 8.1, that does not work anymore. For Ativ S (GT-I8750) there are solutions to unlock 8.1, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735495, but for SPH-I800 I dont know. Are there GDR3 roms around so you could flash it and unlock before updating to 8.1?
'Non-Production Errors.txt' will only interop-unlock a locked phone if it has the old version of Samsung's Diagnosis app installed. The Samsung firmware update that came with retail GDR3 has a new version of Diagnosis without the built-in registry editor.

[Q] Does unlocking your phone allow you to receive updates directly from Microsoft?

I remember seeing this somewhere, but I didn't find a solid answer. Does anyone know if unlocking your phone allows you to bypass your carrier for the updates? For example I am stuck with Wind mobile with a Huawei Ascend W1 U34, and I'm stuck with just G1. I know theres an update to get it to G2, but it doesn't seem like Wind has it. Is there anyway, without flashing (as I've tried a ton of those methods, they didn't work) to bypass the courier?
Thanks!
Dev-unlock lets you get Preview for Developers, which lets you bypass carrier / OEM update schedules and get them right from Microsoft.
Flashing a different ROM can de-brand your phone, which will let you skip carrier-imposed delays (though you'll still have to wait for the OEM to approve the update, unless you use Preview for Developers as above).
SIM-unlocking will do nothing at all.

Thank you for the reply. The problem with the dev-unlock for me is that I need my phone updated to the latest OS before I can use it. Oh well, guess I'm just stuck waiting.
