You could try reverting back to 4.3 then update to 4.4.2 by installing a custom rom.

Hum,
But this problems are normal on the oficial 4.4.2?

By any chance your extreme lag also affects the audio performances? I and a friend of mine had in the same period (for 2 weeks) EXTREME lag, signal lost on mobile network. The lag was so powerful that even music was interrupted. The only way to get rid of this was rebooting the tablet.
The most awkward part is that the bug persisted over ANY KIND OF ROM/KERNEL. Even the official one from Google Developers (any android version).
Best part: It was fixed by itself. Lags started to be increasingly rare and at some point they stopped.
I tried to catch some logs...at the moment of failure, just once they pointed me to some lines in the source code...so I quit trying to figure it out what happens..

I had the same problem, I solved it installing SlimKat, but probably you can solve it with any custom rom, I tried many times to restore 4.4.2 but always the same, only installing custom roms seem to solve it...
I remember it, is like a nightmare to me, turn the tablet On and let it 5 minutes before open any app, open Google Play and see how it lags, installing apps always causing freezing... It remembers me my Windows XP years...
At the beginning i let it thinking it will solve itself, haha, after months I was about to broke it with a stone

Ya the tablet is extremely slow, and freezes sometimes for some seconds!
What do you mean with "rebooting the tablet"? Factory Reset on the original recovery menu?
Thanks.

If you want to keep the official rom you can just try to reflash 4.4.2 wiping everything, just copy to PC the files you want to keep and after flashing copy again to tablet, i would recommend you to copy only important data, not everything, and specially not copy the folders with strange names that you dont know what they are

Before flashing anything try to restore the tablet, copy all your stuff to PC and format it by going to settings / backup and reset / factory data reset and checking to wipe all on internal memory/sdcard
It will wipe all your data, apps and everything, so be sure that you dont forget anything to be copied to pc.
Maybe it solve the problem without flashing
About root and flashing:
You dont need it, but you can root it if you want after flashing,
I dont know how much you know about flashing and all that, so Im gonna make you an quickly tutorial
Basically all you need is:
Nexus root toolkit from here: www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
4.4.2 firmware (can be downloaded directly from the Nexus Root Toolkit)
And be sure that you have copied to PC everything you dont want to be deleted, you can just copy all to PC and after flashing copy to tablet only what you want...
On tablet turn on USB debugging, on developer options (To unlock it go to settings /about tablet /build number and click it many times until it says "you are now a developer", then go back and you will see it)
When its done follow the Nexus Root Toolkit instructions to "flash stock + unroot" (by clicking a button with that text) you should select Android 4.4.2 (KOT49H) and check the option "automatically download"(dont remember what the option says exactly)
And the tool will download it and tell you when you have to do something. Just dont disconnect the tablet until the tool ends its job
Maybe you should install some drivers if you get an error message like "device not found"
If you want to know more about insalling drivers, you get any problem or something else just tell me, but maybe im gonna make you wait because tomorrow is my birthday and I wont be checking it for few hours.

Be careful about "Returning to stock" method as I think Google broke their "flash-all.bat" from the arcvive of Android 4.4. Flash every file by your hand. I used that idiotic flash-all on any android version, but on 4.4 it completely broke my motherboard by flashing wrong boot.img.

Okay, I was no sure that you also format "SD card" factory reset do not delete user data/sd card on some devices and Im not sure if in N7 you have to check the option
Try the 2° option but take a look at this comment:

If thats true then try to flash 4.3 and install 4.4.2 by OTA, just select 4.3 instead 4.4.2 when you are about to flashing

Ok,
I flashed the nexus 7 2012 directly to the factory 4.4.2 using the nexus root toolkit, and everything is working fine without problems, at least for now.
The tablet isn't giving exchange errors, and doesn't hang everytime, but I only used it for some minutes, lets see how it works after some days/intensive usage.
Anyway, as I said, I flashed to 4.4.2 directly using the toolkit, and it worked without any problem
Thank You!

[Q] LG Thrill GB w/ClockworkMod Recovery

(Obvious Noob warning---) A friend helped me root my Thrill, install ClockworkMod Recovery, and then install CM7 on my Thrill. But I would like to try the LG GB release. Is it necessary to backtrack all the way back to stock to do this (i.e. reinstall the stock ROM, reinstall the stock recovery, unroot, etc.)?
My friend tried using the LG upgrade tool on his LG phone without going back to stock and ended up bricking it. He says that usually within a few days of release, a CMR compatible zip file (usually already rooted) appears here on XDA (I haven't seen it), which makes things easier (but obviously he didn't wait for it himself).
Will a zip be possible for the Thrill GB? (The file seems quite large (420MB), so I'm guessing there is a lot of media included.) Or should I just bite the bullet and backtrack?

Trojan?
Sorry, but as a noob, I can't post in that other thread.
It seems that the shttp3.exe in the LG Flash Package triggers Symantec's trojan detection. Some searching seems to indicate (assuming I'm reading all the cryptic virus sites correctly) that there is something to this, although it seems that different scanners find different trojans/viruses (can't post the link, but Google for "shttp3.exe" and "trojan"). I also found that the web site for this utility is blocked at work, because it's a "malicious site."
Has anyone seen this? Has anyone been able to verify/refute this?
Rick
There is no virus, Lestat would never do that

Just my .02 .....Get rid of Symantec !! They are known for scaring people into a virus frenzy.. Yes, it is possible that it is seeing it as a potential virus because shttp is a workaround from the usual porting of windows ip services. ...
Correct me if i'm wrong somebody please !!
Get yourself Comodo and save your money...
Regards,
Dwayne
PS: somebody on here has written a script that just uses shttp temporarily while
your doing the flash procedure, and then reverts your host files back automatically after your done. You should try it.

I'm sorry I can't give the link yet, but if you'll Google you'll see Comodo classifies shttp3.exe as "ApplicUnwnt.Win32.ServerWeb.SmallHTTP.~A" or "UnclassifiedMalware" (I guess depending on the version). A number of scanners find issues with shttp3.exe. I'm not saying it is infected, only that it is doing something suspicious.

shttp3.exe is in no way a virus. I've scanned with AVG and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and they check out good.
Back to square one
OK, I seem to be stuck.
With paranoia in tow, I decided to take the long way back to stock. Unfortunately, when I tried to restore the backup of my stock image I made to SD card after installing CMR, the md5 checksum failed. I'm not sure what I can do about this.
So ok, I tried following the above link. The first step is to ensure the su binary is up-to-date. But when I tried this, I get a failure downloading the manifest. This is true for WiFi and HSPA+. I Googled and found a suggestion to delete the su binary. But that didn't help (I'm not sure how it would have helped anyway).
So back to the original question. Can I use the LG upgrade process to upgrade without going backwards (as you can see above, I can't) without bricking the phone? Can I start at step 3 in the link above and succeed?

Is it safe to ignore the su version update?
Short of this, can I override the MD5 checksum? I realize that image could be corrupt, but if I'm just going to replace it with the GB release, does that matter?

You should just put your phone in recovery mode and update through the tool
with your IMEI #. It will give you the latest update !
If you need some help on that I think Lestat or somebody has a write-up
on doing this.

Can you be a bit more specific?
1. By "recovery mode," do you mean into ClockworkMod Recovery, or I should revert to stock (I made a copy of it after I rooted the stock ROM, but before I installed CMR)?
2. By "the tool," do you mean the official LGMobile Software Update, or the LG Flash Package referenced in the link above?
3. By "latest update," do you mean the file directly from LG, or the copy (v20p) linked from the link above?
4. If the latter in both previous questions, which set of steps do I need to follow from the above link? Can I do only 3 (LG Flash Tool), or do I need to follow 1 (Recovery Manager), 2 (Returning to Stock), and 3?
My friend had a different LG phone, with ClockworkMod Recover and CM7 installed. He reverted the CM7 to stock, but did not replace CMR with the stock recovery. Then he used the official LG upgrade method and bricked his phone. I'm trying to avoid this.
Are you saying I don't have to worry about this on the LG Thrill 4G? Can I go straight from the current CMR+CM7 configuration to the LG GB release using the official LG process?
If you mean I should use a different process, can you point me to it? As I mentioned, I run into dead-ends using the method linked above. And I'm not even sure whether I should be doing steps 1, 2 and 3, or if I should just use step 3.
Any and all help is appreciated, but I guess I don't understand the shorthand you're using here, so if you could be a bit more specific, I wouldn't feel so lost.

Remove your battery and keep the phone unplugged
Launch the mobile updater tool
Hold the volume+ button plug the phone in and keep holding the volume+ till the computer downloads the drivers your phone is now in download mode
Once the phone is picked up go to customer support on the LG updater tool and click on recovery phone put your imie number in click check (make sure its the right model) an let the updater tool do its job. Once its done flashing launch into recovery volume- plus power plus 3D button do a complete wipe and factory reset and reboot your phone ... you'll lose cwm and root and be back to full stock

Bricked?
No joy. Following the steps, the upgrade stopped at 6%. Trying a number of times, it eventually forced me to exit the program (no more restarts). Rerunning the updater (and downloading the 420 MB image yet again on a VERY slow connection) I tried again and again, with different combinations of battery and plug order with power and volume buttons, but nothing worked. Checking elsewhere I found some issues had been reported with Windows Vista/7, so I tried on an XP machine. Now the "Start Updating" bar is red (it was always gray with W7). But now when I try to restore (or even update for that matter), it asks for my S/N (it never did that before) and then says it is "no longer able to upgrade." Reading around, it seems this is an indication of the device being bricked.
Rick
It sounds like you are very close to getting it working Rick.
My update did the same thing, looped over and over until it
finally kicked me out. Just plugging and unplugging the phone etc....
And when my update stuck at 6% the last time, i took my battery out and then in real quick and that seemed to work.
Does the phone still vibrate when you plug the usb cable into it while holding volume..? If it does then I highly doubt that your phone is bricked, just in a semi flashed state....No worries
Should Rick be trying to run LG Updater as administrator ? I didn't, but it might not hurt.

It never really vibrated, but I was able to get back into CMR. Unfortunately NONE of my backups work at all. They all have MD5 checksum failures. I tried a trick I found online and got past that step, only to have it say a failure restoring /system. So much for CMR.

Which step? As I mentioned above, I can't even get the first step of the first section (updating the su binary). And if I start at the 3rd section, Symantec prohibits me from using shttp3.exe (I tried to unquarantine it, but it gives a permission error, even as Administrator, when I try to run it), so I'll have to use a different machine.
I was able to reinstall the CM7 3/15 release, so that's something. I was going to restore the stock recovery backup I made, but even that doesn't seem to work. I'm having issue with backups :-(

Have an issue here, kinda
i was bored and (playing around) i was in Ti Back up and clicked " integrate system apps into rom"
while it was doing so i again "retarded me" hit back out and it stopped the process at about 40 ish % and i was worried. i rebooted it.
now it has power power cycled a few times, keeps telling me " google keyboard has stopped, Google services has stopped, Motorola modality has stopped , google + has stopped, and my google account linked to phone is there but unlinked. " and application requires install for google wallet- and com.google.android.gsf.login- assume that means i need to link the account per say.
wifi will connect just cant type to connect to it for password. at work so not on open one at home.
when i try to get on 4G it stays orange will not connect in any setting. global or LTE, i can receive and make calls and get text, cant use keyboard so cant connect to wifi cuz i cant type, cant get on play store no internet, and i did have 105 system apps now i have 103, missing two, causing some issues,'
things i tried
locate the files or apps- no go - did locate corpses in SDMaid= lib_google.android.gms- appdata three of those - com.google.android.gms-1 applib-2mb size
tried to re install system apps- not fix
tried to disable xposed mod(s) and reboot various times- no go
very confusing and frustrating
I dont want to re flash image unless i have to ( dont want to loose music pics vids and what not) can back it all up but not able to at the moment
Is there any solution now, or next 15 hrs while im at work.
thanks:crying:
Sounds like a mess.... And unless someone has a better suggestion, I'm afraid I'm going with the reflash firmware answer. Lol
Now, If the files for your carrier and android version are available, you should be able to flash just the sysyem.img ... Hopefully. You wouldn't lose apps or your pics and stuff. If that doesn't work out, you could flash everything, but don't erase or overwrite "userdata". You will lose apps, but not your pics and whatnot.
If all that fails, you can use RSDLite, but you'll lose everything.
You can't connect to your pc and transfer over your pics and whatnot?
All this depends on if your firmware is available to flash . As you can't downgrade.
See the complete moto x guide in general section and read the Returning to Stock section. ?
hmmm

[Q] Introductory help

Wanting to get rid of bloatware I didn't want in the first place and explore more on the Android mobile operating system I decided to make the jump towards a custom ROM and here I am. I have been impressed with my first flash of CyanogenMod 12 so far but unfortunately have run into a various amount of problem which I have tried to explore before coming here. The only problem I've sorted so far is the normal "install core Google apps without additiona bloatwarel"... But that was easy.
I have the following problems:
1. No LTE.
I'm on o2 PAYG and have entered what I think are the correct settings for use of the Internet, but unfortunately I still have no Internet capabilities beyond WiFi. When going on search for networks it will spend time before going "error while searching for networks".
2. Audio and video.
-Most noticeably on Snapchat, when I record a video the phone goes haywire and may spend 5 seconds vibrating before spending the remainder of its time being generally slow until I restart it.
-When I bring up the music playing app, I press to play a song and the audio doesn't work, nor is the song actually playing. The track bar may go to 0:01 with no sound before going back to 0:00. The device also lag once again, but not as bad as SnapChat instance. The system audio works fine as button response audio is fine and calling works fine with ringing and hearing the recipients voice.
I have gone through a couple of threads to try and find answers so far, but unsuccessful. Any help would be appreciated.
My current set-up is:
Phone: Sony Xperia SP
Android version: 5.0.2
ROM version:12-20150120-UNOFFICIAL-Ibhuashan (would be happy to change up ROM if advised so)
Kernal version: 3.4.0
I would be happy to supply additional information to help.
I'm hoping to get to know my phone and start contributing in some what possible way on the forum, but for now I just want to find my feet in this exciting new adventure
Many thanks for all help given.

Hi, I had a check and retraced my steps of unlocking and rooting before I installed CM12. The device is unlocked but is not rooted any more. The rooting method via towelroot no longer works for me and ends in constant rebooting.
Hope this helps!

Sorry for the late reply, I had only found the time to start this today.
What benefit do I gain from changing up my kernel? Is the ROM previously mentioned alongside the kernel update only available for devices running a particular kernel?
Many thanks for all help so far!

the benefit is like faux sound ...you can control your cpu and gpu and a lot of things ....last update of the ROM that i gave you is only working with costume kernel (t-kernel) so yes you have yo flash ROM then t-kernel and then reboot ....if want there are like cm12.1 ...it doesn't need a costume kernel ...just flash cm12.1 and reboot......so you can choose .....happy flashing
good luck :good:
Soft-bricked the device after I wiped, attempted to install the 12.1 ROM but failed due to it saying its not the right device, and then accidentally restarted not paying too much attention to the yes and no's of CWM. Sony logo starts up but nothing else at present. Trying volume{up, down} + USB but nothing at the moment vibration or light wise. Hopefully this is fixable, not too worried at this point in time unless I should be?
Currently following this thread for instructions. Unless you can advise me on better or even if you have to tell me its straight up gone...

don't be afraid ...you tried to flash cm12.1 that mean you are UBL....flash t-kernel v2.2 twrp via fastboot mode and you will gain recovery to flash again the cm12.1
Fortunately kept calm and have gotten back to having an OS present. I've currently status quo'd back to CM12.
I have PhilZ, can I just use the PhilZ instructions for t-kernal?

yes of course ! .....if you want my opinion> wait until the AICP\ RR \ROMs to be up to date ...they will update it today or tmw(very soon)
Installed t-kernel and AICP. It boots and then gets to optimizing apps. Once it completes the 82 optimizations it goes "starting apps" it reboots... should I faactory reset & wipe the caches and reinstall? Almost there haha.

do as following
,,,,please do a full wipe and then flash AICP and flash t-kernel v3.0 and then reboot
Wiped data&caches, flashed AICP then flashed 3.0 t-kernel. It reaches starting apps and completely freezes instead of rebooting now. waited 15 mins hoping it was really slow but it's frozen. I then wiped and tried to reflash but that particular recovery setting doesn't like the checksum of the t-kernal so doesn't allow installing, so i flashed back to CM11 and reflashed AICP & t-kernel, completely following the steps given.. but once again freezes at starting apps.
Any more ideas? Thank you for all effort given so far!

Once again... wiped entire user + cache and first installed 12.1, then gapps core and finally t-kernel 3.0. It gets to starting apps and freezes. I'm able to flash CM11 or CM12, but that would mean the original problems encountered which makes my phone half -useless. I've tried to boot into safe mode, not knowing if you can do that with an un-optimized android.
It's all getting a little bit weird now. Something is going wrong somewhere, but I don't know.

this is far from weird ....the last hope for problems like these ...to start from scratch ....to flash ftf ROM via flashtool and re install recovery then twrp then reflash the ROM (5.1) ..only few users had this problem and solved it with flashing ftf ....sorry man for that but i think you have to do it or stick with cm11 or something
good luck ...if you need any further help i'll help you :good:

i'm sorry i have to go to sleep now ...but first try to flash twrp ....etc...if that didn't help flash ftf ....
good luck mate :good: ....i will see what happened with you tomorrow

Bricked

It seems that I may have flashed one to many times or something else is playing up. Anywho, I came to check my phone this morning and everything was working fine. Checked the battery status and I thought it was time for a top-up . I decide to do it via USB via my computer and that's when things started to go south. I came back to check my phone and...nothing. I done a hard restart and at first everything seemed fine only to get a continuous boot-loop. I tried to enter TWRP and it hangs on the "teamwin" logo. Then I decided to flash stock via Odin and I still get the same boot-loop. I can still access downloader but that's it.
For reference the version of TWRP I was running was 2.8.6.1 (flashed back to 2.8 Nova version) and the ROM I was running was the latest version of Ressurection Remix by Maclaw.
So, I'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be much appreciated and paid forward.
Thanks for hearing me out.
So going by the lack of feedback I'm basically screwed?
Oh for ****s sake come on! I've had this up for 3 days on this site full of so called enthusiasts and "professionals" and not one response? I'm sorely disappointed.
So there is honestly no one that can help me with this?
Pathetic...
Come on there must be someone that can help me with this, otherwise I'll have to risk buying a broken one for parts.
Haven't done any custom stuff in a while but the boot loop sounds familiar, have you wiped the dalvik cache in the advanced menu also have you tried a factory reset?
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ----------
Use the Volume keys in order to navigate through the recovery menu.
Select “advanced” and choose “wipe dalvik cache”.
Return to main menu.
Then select “wipe data factory reset”.
Return and this time choose “wipe cache partition”.
Return and select “reboot system now”.
Your handset should start in Android OS now.

Thanks for the feedback but as I have already stated I can't access any recovery only Odin, and desktop Odin won't allow me to re-partition only write. Still, whether it be stock or a custom ROM it is the same result: bootloop and recovery freezes on splash screen.
So any other takers? Yes? No?
Why even have a "help & troubleshooting" section if, well, I don't know, no one helps!!!
Dude you're puerile attitude is baffling, I understand you desperately want help, but do you really think you'll get it if you keep throwing toys out of your pram?
The problem you've described suggests that you're phone is 'fixable' however, it may take a few different methods to restore it. Ok, so you cannot access recovery mode, therefore you're unable to clear your phone like TheMadTurnip suggested, and you're also unable to access any backup you might have made. The downloader works so I can only recommend you try to investigate what's going wrong when you flash via Odin, does the flash show as pass or fail? Have you tried flashing using a different cable or computer, heck have you even tried using another version of Odin? Is Kies installed on your computer, if so then remove it. Have you flashed using a PIT file as well as the stock firmware? Elaborate on your situation so tailored advice can be given to you.
Kind Regards,
Pinda

In light of how active this section still is I think a week is more than enough time to expect a response, I was even quite polite in my OP. Even a simple "no I can't help but maybe try this" would have sufficed. But I'll take it under advisement...

I have tried flashing using the original cable the phone came with; so I have tried 2. I even tried other USB ports. And yes I have tried another version of Odin.
Flashing doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment, just everything else.

As it stands it's about ruling things out to pinpoint what's going wrong, I'm no expert, merely a trial and error kind of guy. Anyway, yes, I would suggest uninstalling Kies and try the flash again, although if Odin is flashing successfully then this might not be the issue, but it's worth a shot. When I resolved my bootloop, using a PIT file was one of the things I did, so perhaps that's something you might want to look into. Also, make sure your firmware downloads are clean, basically make sure they download smoothly and aren't disturbed by a network disconnection etc. Could you post links to where you downloaded your stock firmware?

I got my firmware from sammobile.com, right down to my network provider. I've flashed it before and never had any problems. I'm just trying to figure out why my phone self-bricked. I was on latest "Resurrection Remix" when it happened.
Where can I find this "PIT" file and how do I use it? I notice an option in Odin so I can probably figure that part out. At the moment my knowledge is limited to rooting, flashing custom recoveries and ROMs. Sorry.

Ahh ok, yes my knowledge is also limited in that respect. I guess it's all about learning and helping each other out, which is where I guess it can be frustrating when there's a lack of 'available' support in these forums. Nevertheless, I must stop droning on, I used a PIT file for my S variant after noticing numerous users mentioning the significance of it when using Odin to flash. Here's an interesting thread to find out more (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097). It's a sort of map if you like, which inadvertently tells the software where everything has to go on the handset, that's my noob interpretation of it anyway. I found the relevant PIT file for my variant on a XDA thread, so it might be worth scurrying through archived threads to see if you can find one for your phone, make sure there's legit feedback for it though. You just flash it with the firmware like you normally would.
Remember, I'm no expert, I'm just going by how I fixed my phone over the weekend. I apologise my attempts to help are meager, I'm still relatively new to all this, just like you.

I don't know what else to suggest at the moment, the fact that you cannot get into recovery makes it that much harder.
I'll come back to you if something comes to mind.
EDIT- Have you tried re flashing a custom recovery to overwrite your current one? If you can somehow get into recovery you could trying clearing your phone of cache and installing a ROM zip-folder. Also, have you got another battery you can try in your handset? I cannot help you with the Odin method no because you've pretty much exhausted all the possible solutions that I know of, perhaps screenshot the Odin log and post it on here for more info.

Noob needs major help. TWRP Bootloop Unable to Factory Install

I have been experiencing certain issues w my phone and decided to do a factory reset.
Originally i was getting the TWRP loop when my celluar phone provider was trying to push an update.
Well after doing the factory reset, it went into TWRP. I"m not sure why, but that's where I am. I currently do not have an OS installed.I tried downloading a purenexus_shamu-7.1.1-20170215-OFFICIAL rom through some thread that I read, hoping to get a rom installed (excuse my terminology)
The system updated the partition, flashed itself, but still boots into TWRP.
I was at times able to get into the Pure rom? But then it had no apps. not even google play for me to use to download more apps.
Can someone pls provide a step by step of what to do to get me back up and running and disable this TWRP program permanently?
Thank you.

Well, the question is:
Honestly... Did you ever read the PureNexus thread?
Check this post for a detailed install (Google apps links in first post):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61653759&postcount=4
If you want to start fresh, just flash a factory image of your choice (I advise the latest)
Follow this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
Backup your datas first...
Don't flash userdata partition if your phone is not a 32GB model...
Also, don't mess with your phone unless you read enough and know what you are doing otherwise you could break it for good...
i was able to install it and get the gapps running
the problem is it didnt fix anything
i still cant really work the dialup unless it is via bluetooth. (am forced to reboot to be able to use the phone during a call)
my front facing camera still does not work.

Follow the guide posted above to get it back to stock. There shouldn't be a calling issue on that rom. Must be something janky during the flash process. Just get back your phone e to stock and see if everything works.

Thank you.
