Recently I was having issues with my phone so I flashed the stock firmware and rerooted my phone. I hit to accept the OTA update by accident, and now I'm stuck in CWM recovery. I looked at other threads and the koush driver is not working, and when I try PDAnet's it thinks my phone is HTC and will not let me change that. I also cannot go into download mode, whenever I try to it just goes back to CWM. So ADB isn't working, nor is download mode. If anyone else has had issue with this and can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Do you still have any ROM files you can flash on your device? I had an issue just like this, and luckily I had a rom zip still laying around on my phone.

That won't work, he's probably stuck in a boot loop from taking the ota. There is a thread somewhere in xda that will help you out with this.

Use the lg flash tool. Its a sticky in one of the g2 forums. Just to double check, your phone was connected to your computer when you rebooted correct? I think you jeedbto hold volume button up as well to get into download mode.

My Captivate is one of the unlucky phones that download mode is deactivated. I've searched the forums only to see bricks everywhere when people are rooting with this problem. Is there a safe way to flash or an adb fix that allows you to enable without the risk of bricking my phone? I purchased my phone used and cannot warranty my phone due to this so I don't have room for error. I'm tired of my stock ROM lag and bloatware. Its been interesting adjusting to this stock ROM after using Cyanogenmod for so long on my old phone. Ideas anyone?

You could flash this to get you back to stock with the 3 button fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439
then you can flash away.

I am stock. My 3 button doesn't work. If I root and something messes up, I cannot get into download or recovery mode to fix it.
I can't even get into download mode via adb. I'm just at a loss.

Right but if you flash the stock from that link, it includes the 3 button fix and you will be all set

I know I would be if I could get into download mode in order to do so. It is a requirement to flash this, that's my problem.
I hold the volume buttons and insert the USB and nothing happens but the phone charges and the battery is displayed on the screen.
I've loaded all of the software and tried to do this on two computers. One runs Windows 7 64bit and the other runs Windows Vista 32bit. I don't think it's a driver issue, I can adb into the phone but I am also denied permission when I try to use commands like adb reboot download on both computers.
I don't know what's going on but it's a lot more complicated than I've dealt with. I can't find anyone having the problems in the forums or anything.
This happened to me too when I went to stock using the odin that DG posted a while back. What's weird though is that I was able to get into dl mode no problem. I've flashed my phone just fine 3 times up until today when I went to flash the most recent cog. I used that odin to flash back to stock. At that point, I could no longer get into dl mode.. dunno. But, I had already rooted since going to stock. So, I just proceeded to flash. Weird. I'll follow this thread to see what the fix is.

I see now. Are you familiar with ADB? You can just use the adb reboot download command while your phone is plugged in and it will reboot into download mode. You have to have Android SDK installed and all your Samsung USB drivers installed as well.
Edit: Sorry, I missed the part where you couldn't do adb reboot download. Have you tried the one-click root?

Shouldn't I be able to get into recovery/ download mode before I even think about altering the phone? A simple error could cause a problem I could easily fix in recovery. Without recovery my phone would be bricked. Should I worry about this?

Well, I can relate because I don't have a 3-button phone either. What I did was first root my phone with the 1-click posted in the forum, that way, you can use adb and get into download mode. Then flash the Stock with 3-button fix, then flash whatever cog rom you want. I have used that method and everything has worked fine for me, but of course, follow those instructions at your own risk.

Thanks, I didn't even think about needing SU to be able to get into download mode.
I used 1 click root, did the 3 button fix, and flashed clockwork with Rom Manager. I've got it going now. Thanks a lot.

Use odin to flash back to stock. Just search it. Will correct any mistakes you made.

I used clockwork mod and formatted all of the options including system and etc etc
UnBrickable mod is easier then 3 button fixes or jigs.. Simply remove the battery, replace the battery, plug into USB, then click the "Download Mode" button. After that, use a Heimdall One-Click to flash software. There's no fooling around with timing or trying to get the order correct, or anything... it just goes into download mode every time.
Just thought I'd put that in here. I like UBM, it's great.
I did the same, you found the solution?
I followed the same "idiot" guide of how to flash it into recovery or back to the stock version.
Screen at & t appears and restarts again and again.
I can't enter in the download mode. I tried all the combinations of the 3 buttons and nothing.
You could find a solution? help please..

You have a few options and these options are as much as we can help you here.
1) Keep trying the button combos. It just might work one of these times. If you ever get it into download mode then try to flash it back to stock immediately.
2) Buy a Jig. They are available for cheap and will probably help you out. They force your phone into download mode and will allow you to flash it then.
3) Do the unbrickable mod. This involves sending your phone off for a few days, spending some cash, and having it worked on. It will come back in working order and there are even ways to have the person who worked on it flash a custom rom for you.
These are your options. And honestly, more than telling you the above, I dont think there is much more help we can offer here.
EDIT: Holy hell I just realized this post is from April. I just wasted a few minutes typing all of that. Damn.
yea. Thread resserection

Tried installing the OTA without thinking first. The rom i was running was digital dream vzw debloat. amazing rom btw. ANYWAY, now im stuck in recovery mode and no matter what i do, nothing makes a difference. i tried restoring my original rooted stock software, i tried flashing the old digital dream rom, all the while being completely unable to get into download mode. then i read that if you format you have a better chance to get into DL mode. this did not solve my problem. so im left with twrp recovery 2.6.3.3.. anyone have any suggestions? My next solution is to run the phone over and claim it on insurance LoL!

Can you get into Download mode?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Hey Matt, no download mode...only CWM...when I try to restore a backup, it goes through the restore and then boots back into CWM. I've tried everything I can that I have found on here...even the ubuntu way, but I can't even see the device with ubuntu...something about qualcom drivers that I can't install.
the LG Flash tool requires download, I've been through that process before. I was hoping that since I can still get into CWM, i would still be good, but alas, NOTHING WORKS, lol.

Are you using the LG cable that came with the phone for your download mode attempt? I thought I read others have issues when not using it. If you are, sorry, no other ideas here.

yes, the LG cable that came with the phone
i can get into sideload mode, but can't send any other rom to the phone, only CM roms start to load, but then nothing...everything else says cannot read sideload
ADB push isn't working right either, maybe I'm doing something wrong with the command, but i've done it before on other phones...maybe LG is weird
My Note 4 has been properly rooted and working fine until recently.
Today I decided to boot into recovery and clear some crap out.
It says RECOVERY but no menu, then the Droid dude flashes on and off a black screen.
The phone will NOT boot normally, only into this crazy recovery loop.
I can get into download mode.
My rom was stock, just rooted.
Please help me fix this.
Can I download a stock rom to my sd card, get into download and install from sd...In hopes of regaining phone access??
I can't wipe anything as I can't access recovery, so I'm hesitant about going custom right now. I really just want my phone working again, so I don't have to pay insurance deductibles for a replacement.
Please advise.

Have you tried using ODIN to flash the stock firmware
Sadly, my computer died last month, so unless I can borrow someone's, Odin is not an option currently...which is why I was hoping for a device only method.
Any thoughts??
Have you tried your local carrier to see if they can flash the stock firmware for you. They may replace the phone for free. Otherwise borrowing a computer would be my next step
So I've called Tmo, who had me call Samsung...because I've apparently done everything, and I could not regain access via ODIN...so Samsung has me going to Best Buy to see if the Samsung approved folks can get a software recovery working...
I'll let you know how it goes...
In the meantime, if anyone else has any suggestions besides ODIN...
Thanks in advance!
To anyone in a similar situation...
I am sorry, but I have no good news.
The final solution is to swap the device through my carrier.
ODIN did not work.
I could not get it to read the sd card/rom from the download mode, and the recovery menu never produced.
Tmo could not help.
Samsung could not help.
