I am also looking for a tester for tasker plugin so you obviously need tasker and PM me

The description says that it "will activate 'drive mode' manually or automatically". Can it be made to activate when connected to a specific bluetooth device? Similar to trusted devices, but instead of a bluetooth headset, it uses a car's bluetooth connection.
I'm willing to test the Tasker integration. I'll PM you.

Tasker or similar apps

Hey everyone. Anyone here use Tasker or any similar app. If so so what are your favorite profiles or things to do with them?

I'm a long time Tasker user and cannot think using any device without it.
The main thing I use it for are:
- automatic change of audio volumes based on time and location;
- hourly chime;
- missed notifications reminder;
- automatic switch GPS ON/OFF when using maps;
... Other little things depending on specific ROM I'm using ...
Macro droid is pretty good, A tad easier to setup tasks
For me, Tasker knocked me down. I use Automateit Pro, a little bit more user friendly and does the job accurately.

I am using macro droid. Its really smooth and user friendly. Not as versatile as Tasker may be but it almost serves all the needs with more macros. It was my first purchase from google play.
Only use it to turn volume down when I arrive at the office.
Tasker and Secure Settings. I use it to:
1) Set ringtone to vibrate between 11pm to 6am
2) Trigger high accuracy GPS when I open waze.
3) Auto rotate only when in the camera, gallery, youtube and a few others.
4) Switch between edge and HSPA (to save battery) i.e. only swtich to hspa when youtube, web browser or app that needs a fast data connection is active.
5) Send emergency SMS to certain people when battery reaches to 10% (hardly ever happens but hey safe than sorry)
6) Switch to car mode (app) when connected to my bluetooth headset.
7) Open up emulator when game controller is connected.
8) When within range of my home town cell tower, switch on wifi, similarly when out of range of the tower, wait 2 mins then switch off wifi.

Do any of these require root?
I can't recall but I think secure settings requires root, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Most of them don't. Secure settings trigger different gps modes.
Ok cool thank you
Llama - is similar, as some alright features
I personally went for tasker and added secure settings
After 3 failed unlocks, takes picture on front cam and logs location
when face down, set phone to silent
when near home or work turn wifi on
when at home and connected to wifi, turn lock off
when connected to bluetooth in car turn lock off
on boot set lock to on
similar to others... other additions:
> read SMS sender and text contents while connected to car bluetooth [developing] (anyone know the right audio channel to play notifications through?)
> shake vertically to lock device (too big to always reach power button)
and per someone's earlier question yes you need root for secure settings to do most of its worthwhile tasker actions. although my secure settings is not working for enabling/disabling pattern unlock in 5.0 [liquidsmooth v4.0 unofficial]
I mainly use it to control the lights at home. I haven't been able to think of any other use cases for me

want to share this? looks a bit nifty
Below are the Tasker Profiles that I use:
1. Turn Wifi On when I'm connected to a cell tower near home. Turn off when I exit.
2. Notify to take my ID card when disconnected from wifi (reminds me in the elevator)
3. Turn on silent mode when I'm connected to a cell tower near office.
4. Switch to 2G when screen is off.
5. Turn on location for Maps, Uber, etc. Turn off when not using.
6. Increase the display timeout when using Feedly, Facebook, Play Store, etc. Change it back to 15 secs when not using.

Superquick:
New Profile "Shake it off" > Event > Shake Backwards & Forwards > Sensitivity = High, Duration = Medium > New Task "LockSystem" > If %SCREEN ~ on > System Lock
Note the "IF Screen ~ ON" otherwise while your phone is in your pocket it will keep locking which is not a problem untill you try to run with your phone playing music and you get the lock sound effect every step you take
The "Shake Backwards-Forwards" is not intuitive but the shake actions are sort of misnamed in tasker. This locks the phone if you shake it up and down vertically [insert masturbation gesture here].
The medium duration is also key so you get the right kind of threshold for not having the screen go off while you ride the bus but also not having to shake it for a while.

Tasker with OnePlus One
Hello,
I am using Tasker with some of the following tasks/settings...
Sound and Timeout profiles for Home, Out, Work and Night situations.
Toggle between different screens in Lightning launcher for Home, Out, Work or Night situations.
They than look similar to the Smart Screen Launcher screens.
Capturing notifications and displaying them in situations when I want them to appear, including sound and/or vibration.
Retrieving Sunrise/Sunset times and weather information, displaying the info via Zooper Widget.
Setting different wallpapers according the time and location during the day.
Adding the current location to for instance Evernote (like the app Where Am I).
A working time registration including reporting worked hours.
-Tasker
-Lightning Launcher
-Zooper Widgets
-AutoNotification (plugin for tasker)
-AutoLocation (plugin for tasker)
-AutoLaunch (plugin for tasker)
-Email Me (plugin for tasker)
There is so much you can do with tasker

[Q] Downtime, Priority Mode, Sleep Mode with Moto Assist in Lollipop

Hey guys,
I don't own a Motorola device running Lollipop, but I'm curious as to how Moto Assist handles the Priority Mode in Lollipop.
If I'm not mistaken, in KitKat, Assist's 'Sleep Mode' will switch the phone into Silent Mode, depending on the time you've set. Also, you get the option for certain contacts to be able to get to you while the Sleep Mode is on (with the choice of None, Starred Contacts, Everyone in your phone book). I can't remember if there's the option to let Messages from the white-listed contacts to ring during Sleep Mode period, or even an auto-reply for all calls/text rejected during Sleep Mode.
I'm curious… how does Moto Assist handle this Priority Mode/None/All found in Lollipop?
If I'm not mistaken, if you've set Sleep Mode in Assist, it will turn on Priority Mode. Are you limited to the same options, as to how Contacts white-listing are handled (choice of None, Starred and Everyone?). Does Assist offer a more granular control or finer tuning in comparison to the native Interruption settings? Is Assist not a replacement for the native Priority Mode, and it only acts as something that turns on Priority Mode (separate from the native Downtime setting)
Setting up Meeting Mode, will also turn on Priority Mode. Is the Auto-Reply feature still there? Same with the above point on whitelisting contacts/notification types.
Is this conflicting with Android's own/built-in settings in Settings > Sounds and notifications > Interruption. Particularly the type of notifications that are let through (Calls, Messages, Alarms), and which contacts are being let through? (None, Starred Contacts Only, Everyone)
I guess if you can upload screenshots/video how Assist looks in L, that would help answer some of the questions I have!
Thanks!
OK, sleep is the same as no calls (although, I seem to remember it will ring if a favourite calls you more than once in quick succession).
Meeting is none or favourites for auto reply.
Is it conflicting? No. Works fine.

Repeating timer question

Device: Pebble Time
Goal:
No Bluetooth connection
Start a repeating timer (vibrate every 5mins)
By shortcut button (ie. Long press up)
Without leaving the watchface
Stop by same method.
Anyone have an Idea how to do this?
The only way I can think of is using Tasker (needs bluetooth) or using a timer app (leaves watchface to go to app).
Any help is much appreciated
Pebble Cloud would make adding this function easy. They have great examples and tutorials. That would be one way to add this.
Your idea about tasker would work also, you would need to start a timer, alert, restart timer, stop timer if pebble connects.
Message me if you are interested in Pebble Cloud, I can send you a zip of the basic time date weather battery bluetooth disconnect layout to get started. It's actually a lot of fun to write your own watch face!

I need a guide to create an advanced profile with tasker

I need to disable notification sound only from selected app (For example what's app) when Bluetooth headset is connected. Is it possible with tasker? If yes please tell me how.......
Thanks in advance
my personal thoughts, this is so complicating and might not worth it... unless you have a real good reason for doing it, I would not recommend trying to implement this.
in case you still want this, you can try:
- install autoinput or something similar to mimic your actions in turning off sounds in those apps
- link those actions to a Tasker profile with Bluetooth conditions
I imagine you would need to have screen turned on for the actions to be carried out
This should not be very difficult.
You should set a profile to create a variable When bluetooth is connected.
Then a profile when the app is running, the task within would be: set a variable to memorize current media volume, then "if bluetooth connected, set media volume to zero".
Exit task would be: set volume media to original media volume.

Block calendar notifications while driving

Hi,
might seem a silly question but it's very annoying while driving that I receive Samsung calendar notifications. While they appear full screen, Waze and music sounds are silenced.
I have to manually dismiss them before all sounds are 'restored'.
I just want to drive without interruptions of the calendar app, anyone know how this can be done? I'm also using Android Auto but don't see any setting that can accomplish this.
thank you
I'm using Tasker and AutoNotifcation for this. I block some notifications and enable the AOD while connected to my cars Bluetooth.
- install both apps
- in Tasker add a task and search for "AutoNotification Block".
- Tap the pen of Configuration and select the apps you want to block the notification for. You can also add the package name manually
- Under "Toggle" set it to "Block"
- go back and set the timeout to none (slide the slider to the most right)
- go back to the task
- go back to the task list
- add a new task, do the same as above but instead of "Block" set the Toggle to "Unblock".
Now you have the needed tasks and you can set the profiles for them.
- In Tasker go to the profile tap and add a new profile, name it whatever you want.
- Tap on "Status" and filter for "Bluetooth connected" (Note: Bluetooth must be enabled while creating the profiles!).
- Name is optional, tap on the magnifying glass for "Address" and select your cars Bluetooth address.
- go back and Tasker will popup a window where you need to assign a task. Assign the "block" task.
- now do the same again but Mark the "Reverse" check mark in the Bluetooth address menu and after this select the "unblock" task.
So, Tasker will tell AutoNotification to block the specific notifications while connected to the Bluetooth device and unblock it if disconnected.
I hope it works for you. I don't know the English menu entries for Tasker since my app is in German, sorry if there's something different.
thanks, great tip : I already bought Tasker a while ago, I'll set it up like that
