I know there was a system dump of 4.3 on t Mobile, but it was said to still be in development. Some people were thinking the moto x would get faster updates being so close to stock android. However at this point we're getting close to when the heavily customized galaxy s4 is *supposed* to get its update.
Could the major camera firmware update have delayed them on 4.3? Or are we looking at another phone that will still be several months delayed getting android updates?
From what I've seen there were 3? leaks of 4.3 engineering builds so far to date for the Moto X. In addition to the standard 4.3 features, they seem to also be updating Touchless Controls, Active Display and the Camera App. Now I saw that 4.3.1 is rolling out to the Nexus 7 LTE and I'm sure we will see it released to AOSP "soon" with a list of changes as well as 4.3.1 updates for the other Nexus devices.
What I think happened is Motorola was told that 4.3.1 would be rolling out "soon" so rather than keep working on fixing bugs in 4.3.0 that could be fixed in 4.3.1, Motorola tackled the main issues such as the camera, call quality, etc for the OTA and will resync their builds with AOSP so they can go straight to 4.3.1 for their OTA.
Now I could be totally wrong but given Motorola's previous update history, the Bionic for example went from Gingerbread straight to 4.0.4 and skipped 4.0.2 and 4.0.3, from there it went straight to 4.1.2 and skipped 4.1.1. I know Motorola is rebranding themselves right now but I guess they made a calculated decision to get the biggest issues fixed first, then release the big update which will take more testing.
I also think that because Samsung and HTC released Google Play Edition devices, they got earlier access to 4.3 than Motorola did so this would explain how they've had additional time to work on integrating their UI's into 4.3. I think Google is just playing it a bit too safe in trying to ensure no one thinks Motorola is getting prefered treatment over other companies.

or it could be skipped over for 4.4, google does have more control over it now. I am getting my moto x tomorrow I can't wait.
Maybe the S4 having been released months in advance also has something to do with it....

Very true. I would be ok with that if it meant an earlier update! I'm probably getting one soon with that best buy deal. Too good to pass up!
The biggest fix in 4.3 was the trim support (and SE Linux, but you won't notice that)... Moto X already has trim built in so there really isn't much rush on the 4.3 front.
I'd prefer a skip to 4.4 if that makes it a faster release.
While most Android devices are still waiting on the update to*Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Google is apparently testing 4.4.3 already, under the build number KTU72B. This information comes courtesy of renowned developer LlabTooFeR, but there is no further info on what new features the update is likely to bring.
One of the bug fixes gets mentioned, though - LlabTooFeR writes that "probably it will fix known camera bug." Said issue could very well refer to the problem in*Nexus 5*handset. Users observed a pretty significant increase*in CPU usage when the camera application is operational, which puts unwarranted stress on the system, and its battery endurance.*Google quickly promised a fix for the Nexus 5 camera bug, allegedly coming with the next Android update, so that could be it.*
There are no details yet on eventual extra enhancements and fixes that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will bring to devices in general. Perhaps we will know as soon as the next few weeks, as we doubt Google will wait for the*I/O conference in June*to release a fix for the camera issue in Nexus 5.

Oh snap, it means I have to revert my phone back to 4.4.2 stock again. So soon after the 4.4.2 update, too. At the very least I hope it's a worthy update.
hopefully there will be HDR+ camera for Nexus 4 like Nexus 5. ART optimization will be wonderful thing (also for me myself).

Like the fingerprint states: 4.4.3 is definitely a thing in testing.
What it doesnt say is when/who will get it.
Fingerprints on chromium are concrete evidence that something does definitely exist, but not that we'll actually get it.
(chromium devs get access to builds that never get released)

Going a bit off topic !! Do you still have access to the .tot files from lg b2b servers since they updated their security ?? I think no one has updated the .tot files for mako or hammerhead after initial 4.4 ( I guess no .tot leaked for 4.4 mako at all )
I do not have files, only filenames.
I can tell you that mako has simply not received any new ones since 4.3 and I would not be surprised if it doesn't receive any more.
The thread is currently up to date with the known public ones for hammerhead, excepting that we do not have every variation of the latest one (KOT49H) (16/32gb D820/821)

Google tipped to have massively improved Android camera app intesting
The upcoming release of the Android camera app will feature refreshed user interface. Today’s increasingly popular background-blurring, portrait-friendly effect will be on board too, joined by improved panorama and Photo Sphere modes.
Support for third party filters is also said to be present.

Google has other things to do than to focus on a pesky issue. Only a small number of users who know how or willing to tweak their system just to gain LTE.
I hope we'll get some further development of ART!

If we look at the releases order, nexus 7 2012 should be the nexus that loses the support first. But they should increase the time, just look at S2 how many updates has got and it';s not a nexus.
Hope it does come to the N4, as I'm having major BT issues at the moment. Surely the 18months should start at end of production as well?
So no fix for headset microphone volume issues? I know they may ignore us, but considering Nexus 5 having the very same issue, it seems a little bit strange...
I was just stating that it would probably be the excuse from Google. I sure as hell hope our phone will get the update as well. Mine is not even a year old, still got 6months warranty

Last time they made some excuse regarding Ti/OMAP processor. This time being a snapdragon thats also used in Nexus 7, I don't see any reason for non release of update. We should all in fact assume we will get the official update. Google need to look at Apple's support of old devices like iPhone 4 and get a damn clue.

Yeah, they should gimp the update, not include new features, and make the phone laggy. That's totally what Google should do.
No thanks. I'd rather get no update(or just get unofficial updates via ROMs) than get an official update that bogs the phone down.

Yeah, now the difference it's just a higher frequencies to make a equality between the higher resolutions and a little bit faster memory.We should definetly lose the support at the same time with nexus 7 2013 which has the same processor on a higher resolution which means worse performance in games especially. They have no excuse now ....

That is a clocked down Snapdragon 600. I suspected the 18 months period might have been the reason to go with this one internally instead of the S4 Pro.
Worst case is still that they keep the ancient linux because Qualcomm's mess is so huge they don't have a chance to support a newer kernel. But it might happen because the S4 Pro is in so many devices.

Probably is coincidence since they've been updating each Google app multiple times for the past few weeks. Remember there's a tablet going to be released soon so that probably is why we've had so many app updates too.

I think this KitKat update is coming before Google I/O conference in June. Remember, back in March, Android 4.4.3 was first rumored for mid-April. U.S carrier Sprint even jumped the gun and posted 4.4.3 OTA update promise "now" in mid-April, then sheepishly had to remove it from their public pages a week later. Of course we are now well into the month of May... Not sure why the delay, but I still think it's coming before I/O.
But I think 4.4.3 is minor bug squasher KitKat update that will come before the NEXT Android release with the Nexus 8 tablet announcement at the I/O conference in LATE June (June 25 - 26). Remember product "announcement" does not mean "release". Nexus 8 tablet and next version of Android will be announced at END of June, then will probably be released sometime in July.
Whatever is announced at end of June I/O will NOT show up before July. I just can't see this 4.4.3 waiting until JULY.

Yes, but 4.4.3 will still probably come before then (I/O is June 25) -- because whatever is ANNOUNCED at I/O will not be RELEASED until July. We are now in the first week of May. 4.4.3 could still be released next week as bug squasher update.
Then in late June at I/O, Nexus 8 tablet and next version of Android ANNOUNCED. Then in July Nexus 8 tablet ships with NEW version of Android, the one AFTER 4.4.3.
I just can't see Google waiting TWO MORE MONTHS to release a basic bug fix update. So far from the changelog, that's all 4.4.3 is. Surely with Nexus 8 tablet they will want at least a couple new features as selling points.
Also U.S. Sprint wouldn't have posted the 4.4.3 announcement page back in mid-April if the release wasn't imminent. Sure they jumped the gun, but they were apparently led to believe it was coming then. I still think it's coming before May is over, due to flurry of Google app updates.

No, because Google never posted a changelog to AOSP before. While it is exciting, the changelog was posted 3 weeks ago and hardly means anything is imminent. Plus, the changelog is very flawed in that it shows all changes since 4.4 not the last release. It seems the posting to AOSP was an accident I would imagine.

When has sprint ever released anything on time or been a reliable source??
I'm sure most of us remember when the galaxy s3 came out waaayyy before their LTE/4g was ready. Just throwing that out there.
As for 4.4.3. All we can do is wait. Because it'll be dropped when we stop caring. Haha.

Oh I don't know. It's not like Sprint RF engineers and testers have Spark enabled Nexus 5 running around for months which is explicitly included in the 4.4.3 update..
Fact is Google have to coordinate the rollout of 4.4.3 with their partners (carriers) to make sure the phone doesn't screw up anyones network. Google told the carriers (Sprint) that their update was ready and they're about the push it.
Sprint is notified and have confirmed that the update that is relevant for them (activation of band 26 / 41) is completed so they put the change log up. Google or one of the partners finds a problem and halts the rollout before it begin.
So now we all wait.
Did Google just take down the 4.4.3 changelog page? What the hell does that mean?

Official will probably stop when the last revision of KitKat is released. However no one really knows but Google. Worst case in a week after 4.5 or 5.0 is released (if those are to be believed) source will be pushed to AOSP and everyone here will be building ROMs.
I mean even my old Kindle Fire (otter) runs Pac-Man 4.4.2...

Bit dubious about post-Google updates myself. NVidia has no track record of being friendly to supporting the development community when they aren't forced to. Once Google stops providing binary blob updates, you can bet NVidia will forget that this tablet ever existed and developers will have nothing to work with to support future hardware upgrades.
Either that, or I'm still just a bit bitter over the Tegra 2 G2X.

Very likely the last update, though people don't have the same upgrade path for tablets that they do for phones, you won't necessarily change it as regularly.
It's not like your contract is up after 2 years and you get another one.
I'm not planning on getting another tablet any time soon, so longer support would be great, though I doubt it'll happen.

Nexus 7 never received a useful update anyway.
Every single update made the tablet slower and more buggy.
So it is a good thing not to have updates anymore. Nothing to worry about there.

You can still find Nexus 7 2012 for sale... not at Google Play, however.
IMHO - the last KitKat update will be the end of service life for Nexus 7 2012. N7 2013 will get through the L named release.

4.4.3 is running well on my N7, so can't complain too much, plus there are plenty of custom ROMs and mods to play with. Just wonder how this will affect future custom ROMs/ports as they will be created to run with ART and so possibly a no-go... :crying:

We already got 4.4.4, the update is in that link . OTA is just a method to update, and it will come eventually
