A had the same problem, i did not find other solution to factory reset the glass with my phone which was always connected with it.

Hi
I was just thinking about this and your should try screen casting to your phone and then ticking the complete action screen.
Please let me know.
If we can find a solution for activating the "unknown sources" installing then we can side load apk files much easier and without a PC.
Anyone can assist?

One touch lock app?

I was wondering if there was a one touch lock app. I guess in a way it's similar to the iphone? Just press the widget and the phone's lockscreen engages. I dont want to press the power button all the time. I also have the screen on the quickest time out but sometimes find my phone doing weird things in my pocket lol. I've tried as many apps I could find but none of them seem to fit my needs.
I found one that does what I want but according to the reviews, people have problems with it and can't uninstall it. I dont really wanna take that chance.
Description from appbrain:
Lock Screen Widget
Locks your phone with one click iPhone-style.
Before uninstalling widget make sure to disable admin permissions in Location & security > Select device admin > Lock Screen Widget
So does anyone know of such an app?
Also how does one go about disabling the admin permissions in android 2.1 if I do decide to install the lock screen widget?
Thanks
I've got that installed. Works great. My power button stopped working when I replaced my digitizer.

You quoted the name of the app and instructions for how to use it................. search the market for "Lock Screen Widget" ..............
So I did but did you read the reviews? People can't uninstall it. I dont know about you but I can't find the admin permissions if I do need to uninstall it (obviously our phone doesnt have "location and security" it just has location and security listed separately but no "select device admin"). Maybe I'm looking under the wrong setting? Maybe I should've said I'm looking for something similar...

I installed it and was able to uninstall it as well. The instructions are right on the market page for the widget about disabling it in 'Select Device Administrators', but I have no idea why you wouldn't have that option.
Are you using the stock rom?
Yes I am using the stock rom. I'm guessing the device admin is in froyo.
I guess maybe I should get CM6 lol..
thanks for the info

[Q] Lost acess to General Settings after root

I recently rooted my Nook HD, running 2.0.5, using the universal root via CWM. Shortly thereafter I lost access to the "General" tab in the settings.
I can't access it directly, nor can I access it when I try to get to the keyboard setting directly, nor through the sound settings.
Every time I try it force closes and I get a "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" message.
I've tried resetting the device and rerooting it and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Had the same problem. Have you, per chance, installed voice search? If so try disabling it or uninstalling it temporarily and seeing if general settings work.

I am sure he just blindly installed voice search without reading the instructions. I am going to have to do something about this so users won't do that.
Edit: I just added some BIG warnings to the post. Maybe that will help.

I read instructions on how to root and get GAPPS HiddenG wrote on this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063230&highlight=christmas
Why would I think there are special instructions to sideload Voice Search?
Maybe if there was a specific thread addressing it the issue would be more visible, instead of it being buried in your root thread. I don't read every single thread on here before attempting a sideload. Also, I searched your root thread among others for the term "general" hoping to get some answers about the General settings force closing, but because you wrote "Then you can go to settings/general without it crashing." with the two words connected, I got no results. So I tried to find a solution to the best of my ability before posting my question short of reading every thread.
I appreciate all the work you've done for us on here leapinlar, but I'd appreciate a little more respect.

He did not say anything in his instructions about installing that file. Why did you do it?
Edit: I am just frustrated because I agonized over this very thing happening before I posted the file and I thought I had it covered and this happens.

I installed Voice Search because I wanted it. I sideload all the apps I can't get through play store. I did not see that app being any different.

I am going to rename the file with the warning. Would that have caused you to read first? I'm just looking for a solution so someone else does not do this.

It's not your fault. The instructions I followed were not written by you and said nothing of installing Voice Search. Had I read your instructions I would have installed it properly. I think a thread named something like "Installing Voice Search on rooted Nook HD/HD +" with a quick explanation would have caught my eye. It is redundant but for someone like me that roots and installs gapps without your instructions, it is an easy to find solution.

I think I found the solution. I renamed the file to something that the user would not know what it is without reading instructions.
Edit: I even went one step further. I moved the zip to my mediafire server. That way users will not even know it is available unless they read the instructions to get the link.

Smart Quick settings doesn't circumvent the problem with the General Settings force closing. You can't use Smart Quick Settings to access keyboard settings nor date and time settings. Both of those exist in the General Settings.

True, you cannot get to those two with Smart Quick Settings, but you can get to the keyboard settings and input selection from the keyboards themselves without going through general. And the general time setting only lets you change timezone and 24hour format. How often are you going to change those? If you travel a lot, I guess some.
And using anycut you can set a shortcut to date and time without going through general.

[Q] How to disable popup warning AFTER charging?

Hi,
I recently got a wireless charging receiver for the phone and now I get this annoying popup which says to close the micro usb properly to prevent water damage.
This happens also sometimes during charging in the middle of the night.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the popup? To make it clearer, it is not the flashing text that appears when the phone is connected to the charger. ( this can be disabled via xposed module)
The one I am talking about is more like a text with a white background picture.
"for protection against water damage firmly seal the charging cover before use"
Anyone else with the "problem" ?
I am on NEE-I9295XXUBMK2.
Thanks for the help in advance.

this also happens when I disconnect the device from USB.

I second that!
I have found battery_cover_notice.xml in systemui\res\layout
There is an battery_cover_notice_image and an battery_cover_notice_message
The Pic is help_img_usb.png in folder systemui\res\drawable-hdpi
Now you can try and delete the battery_cover_notice.xml from the SystemUI

I tried and it worked ( at least the popup doesn't appear anymore) but I do not have a notification area at the top anymore. No clock, Signal or anything.
Perhaps it's because of the odex file? Didn't touch that.
I will try it again. Might be, I did something wrong.....
Thanks
okay thanks for feedback...
I will investigate this....
So is there no non-root way of disabling this?

I am.
No solution found so far.
Only I remember - that started after OTA update from Samsung in later 2013.
On original software I didn't have such warning.
Before and after is 4.2.2 Android, I didn't notice any changes, so I am lookiing for old firmware to download...
p.s. I also have wireless charger from "indiegogo"

Cloud it be that this notice is a toast with a custom theme? You could check it with my app EnhancedToast, and hide it if it is a toast. Enable logging in the app and watch it.And yes, root is required for Xposed. Btw, the Google edition don't show it at all

^Mostly what I was going to say, so thanks.
You should check EnhancedToast if you can, and you could always switch ROM's - I'm loving the CM 10.2 ROM, which doesn't have the warning, and offers a lot of other advantages. If a notification comes up in the bar, long-press it and see if comes up with the "app info" button - it could be run through some sort of stock app that you could disable or uninstall altogether.

Any good source to learn more of ROMs? What do I lose if I dump the original, what do I get with some other ROM?
How should I backup? Meaning there's lot's of data:
- contacts and messaging and that stuff
- pictures, music, videos etc
- OS (?)
- ROM
- Apps (downloaded and system)
Maybe someone could explain the best practice to backup ROM,OS and apps.
Thanks in advance, Kaptah.

What method of rooting your phone did you use? They are not the same thing, but it is possible to do them both at the one time. If everything looks different, then yes, you would have changed your ROM while rooting.

This problem appeared/reappeared when i upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.3 (ML2)
After rooting ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690133 )
and disabling KNOXagent it still gives this warning, which it did not do after the 4.2.2 Active Root.
This is merely an annoyance but if someone figures out a quick way to disable it that would be grand.
i have this issue too. cant wait for a fix for this. just updated to 4.3 a few days ago and having to tap the bubble everytime is just annoying. why the hell would they add these rediculous notifications? its not like att or samsung will stand behind the "waterproof" claim anyway..... water damage weather the door is open or closed means your screwed no matter what.
I've personally tried using the "EnhancedToast" module for xposed and the prompts do not register as toast events. It has to be something else.

[Q] Unable to tick confirmations

I am using the CARBON-JB-UNOFFICIAL-20131212-1039-hummingbird from the Unofficial CarbonRom thread, and I am having trouble trying to either install or "tick/check" confirmation windows. Like Android Keyboard (AOSP) update. I am able to click New, All, Version Info, and then Next.. but after Next I am unable to press install. And all I can do after that is hit cancel or out side of the window to close it.
Another one which I just installed a few minutes ago is Hotspot Shield VPN, after installing when I press "Protect my connection!" The attention screen pops up asking me if I trust the application. I am unable to make the check mark for it.
Anyone know how this can be fix, or a work around?

[Q] How to disable OTA on Sony Xperia Z3 Compact?

My phone is on the latest firmware with 5.0.2. I successfully rooted my phone after a couple of sleepless nights and tons of stress when the phone suffered a boot loop. I do not want to undergo that process anytime shortly, though fun it was. (Damn! I keep speaking like Yoda) Sony keeps pushing updates every ten days and it creates trouble all over again. I searched before I posted this and in kitkat there was an option under personalisation to disable OTA. However that no longer is present. Can the OTA be disabled? Can anyone tell me how to do it?
There is a app called update center as i remember correct. In the app there u can turn off ota notification. Or flash a debloated rom, most of them has no ota app
Hey basti thanks for the reply but I am not able to find any such app. Tried whatsnew app and disabled updates but I guess that is only for apps that comes like xperia lounge. Further clarity would be nice.

When the update notification appears at the top of your phone, pull down to reveal the notification menu. Long press and hold on the update message and an option to view "app info" will pop up. Click on that option and it will take you to the update notification screen where you will see a check box that you will have to clear to prevent notifications from appearing for OTA updates.

Great idea puffdaddy but the only problem is that I am looking for a way to prevent it from downloading itself. In my phone, on the last occasion, the update was already downloaded and then it informed me that it was ready to be installed. I am ideally looking for a way to prevent the download itself
