USB cable - Sprint HTC One (M8)

The cable, is it the same as the Galaxy series of phones? I'm referring to the actual connection from cable to device.

Should be.. It's just a standard micro usb.. Any and all of them should work. The exception would be the note 3 and S5, which would come with a usb3.0 cable. Which is pretty stupid for a phone.

Um... The incredible has a micro-usb port. You can't shove a mini in there.
And the answer is yes and NO. The charge voltage is always the same but different phones use different methods to get signaled for charging. For instance the iphone uses 2.7V across pins 2,3 to signal and 5V across 1,4 as I recall.
You won't do damage using the wrong one though. It just won't work and you'll scratch your head.

His question still asked if he could use a mini usb charger for this phone, and no, he cant. The incred uses a micro-usb port, where a mini will just not fit.

Umm, no he asked "Does anyone know if all mini usb car chargers are the same voltage? Can i use any mini usb cig charger i have?" and larsdennert's answer was a direct answer to that exact question.
so this thing is a micro usb like the blackberry? gonna buy a big pack of usb cables for it and I don't wanna buy the wrong ones.

the cable you should buy would then be USB A to micro B. Monoprice is sold out- I ended up buying from Amazon, but the shipping was a bit ridiculous
I just ended up getting a charger from wal-mart that was labeled for a Motorola, but it works fine since it is a micro USB
I have alot of motorola mini usb chargers... I bought a micro usb adapter for 6 bucks from radio shack... it charges and works as far as I can tell... only thing I notice is that the motorola is 5v-550mA not 5v-1A ... I dontk know if this will have any long term effect on the batteries... I think it just makes it charge slower
I don't know the difference between micro and mini, but I hope I can use the car charger I recently purchased for my Touch Pro for my new D.I.
I tried using the BB brand car charger and I got a message on my Dinc that I this manufacture was not compatible with the Dinc. WTF?
I've had no problems using any car charger that allows either changing tips (igo) or has a USB port so you plug the correct cable in. I even have an Apple car charger that works as long as I use the correct USB cable.
But now a slightly different question....
I notice the Incredible WALL charger says 5v at 1A, and my WALL chargers for Apple are 5v .5 A, so I assume the Apple charger works for Incredible, only slower charge, but is it same to use the Incredible Charger for the Incredible? I hate traveling with a zillion chargers.

Replacement Data Cable

I notice that the USB cable for the Spice-Mi410/Ideos X6 is not the regular mini-USB connector. I am thinking of getting a replacement data cable (to keep in my office in case I need to charge the phone). Where can I find one or what are the replacement options I have?
Thanks...
Are you sure its not generic, because I thought all android phones have same usb socket. I remember using a LG cable sometime in the past.......
Ahh its generic i always use my brother's samsung cable, they are all alike afaik.

hi
it is very much available at any local mobile shop i got one for use at office
@whyzee, @nayneshdev: I tried with a samsung Galaxy cable and I couldn't fit it in. I haven't tried with other brands (Android phones). I will do that.
@haree: Will check the local mobile shops. I usually asked them for a cable giving my model name (which they didn't recognize ).

are you sure your usb socket of your phone is not faulty? make sure your clear that up too because triumph phones have had this problem....
Any MicroUSB cable is compatible with this Phone, I'm using Nokia N8's Data Cable because mine I forgot at my Bro's house (1000Kms Away) so can't go again only for the cable and as this is already working so I didn't tell him to send through Post (Courier)

The data cable that came with the box works, I think there is no problem with the USB socket. I will try the microUSB cable as suggested by ardX

yes it is not mini-USB but a micro usb. I think mini USB is mainly used in portable hard drives.

[Q] HDMI port issue

Hi team,
I just bought an HDMI cable to connect by phone to the TV. The problem is that the cable just wont fit in to Note1. However, it works perfectly fine with Note 2.
I can use the same charger to charge my Note 1 and Note 2. But the HDMI cable port just wont fit inside Note 1 as if its not meant for it. I tried to push it but it refuses to connect.
AFAIK, HDMI cables are universal and can be used on any phones which supports this feature. I may be wrong.
Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Don't know how it looks on Note 2, but all Note 1 has is USB port into which fits only USB.
Sending screen to other devices is done with MHL converter, which has USB plug which goes to Note, USB port for external power and HDMI port for connecting to TV. I'm sure more info can be found in accessories forum.
PS. I have a vague feeling that questions should generally be posted in Q&A forum...

The man is bang on, there's no hdmi port on any phone AFAIK... Mhl ports vary pins on generation of phone, so the note2 matches the s3 and I think the s2 matches the note, but it usually states on the product page which models they fit.

Hi there, It looks like a Y shaped cable. One end goes into the phone (charger port) and on the other side, there are 2 wires (ports), one goes into the HDMI port on the TV and the other goes into the USB port on the TV. The USB port does the job of charging the phone simultaneously while the HDMI does the job of extending the screen from phone to TV. There is no MHL adapter. The cable does all the job.
On the package, it says for Galaxy S3 so I guess it will work only with S3 and Note 2. I need to buy one more which is compatible with S2 and Note1.
My only question is that since the charging port on Note1 and Note2 is similar, how come there is still a compatibility issue with Note1? I was under the impression that the cable/port would be standard for these Samsung android phones and if it fits into Note2, then why note on Note1?
That's called an mhl adapter. The port in the phone is micro usb, so the signal is converted to hdmi.

Magnetic Type-C Cable

I don't know if you all have seen Magnetic Type-C Cables in the wild, but they look quite cool. I was wondering if anyone has one that they would suggest, amazon seems a little shaky on the subject.
I have been looking at this one - https://goo.gl/WnJp7o
Anyone else have any suggestions?
It's probably only USB 2.0 speeds judging by the looks of it. It's def an interesting idea!

AFAIK our N5X uses USB 2.0 either. On the other hand, when buying USB Type-C cables, I prefer being futureproof - I would go for standard, 3.1 one.

I thought all USB-C ports were 3.1? I have a USB-A to USB-C cable that is USB 2.0, but that's an aftermarket cable, and everything just down-grades, but I believe the port on the phone itself is 3.1? Does that make sense?

Hey, if cable can be USB 2.0, why not the port itself?
Take a look here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_nexus_5x-7556.php
AFAIK Google and LG opted for USB Type-C port in Nexus 5X only for higher charging current (3A vs 2A on standard microUSB), so it got faster charging without much effort. But God knows why they used older USB 2.0 specification.
USB 2.0 specs are also the reason why e.g. video output isn't supported.

USB 2/3.0 to USB C charging cables

I know there was a big issue with some of these and the Note 7 where the cables had issues with the amps or something and I-Orange cables were recommended, I want to pick up some more of them now for the Note 8 and apparently I-Orange has had some quality control issues or something happened where they are changing their name and I am seeing allot of customers giving them bad reviews now.
So Who has the best (preferred) USB 3.0 to USB C charging cables?

I-Orange is now Veckle and you can't go wrong with Anker Powerline Cables. I bought a couple Veckle cables on special and they seem to work fine.
as mentioned in another accessories thread...

I've heard the QC for the Anker cables are pretty bad. Going to try CHOETECH this round.
I've stuck with Anker as their quality has seemed to remain high and these USB 3.0 and 3.1 type A to C cables are no exception.
To be fair though, the phone fast charges just fine with an old Blackberry usb 2.0 cable and micro A to C adapter as well. I am guessing you'd need a pretty awful cable to fail.
