[Q] Screen Ghosting - LG G Flex

So I have a huge screen ghosting "problem", its most noticeable on the texting app, or when exiting out of the amazon app also you can see the amazon logo on the top of the screen fade out for a good 20 seconds. I called LG to ask if this was normal and they said no, I've read in some places that everyone has this problem though.
Do you guys see this problem on yours?

It is a known issue...it's worse for some than it is for others ...search the forum, there's ways you can reduce the ghosting effect.

Screen extreamly white/faded. UPDATED: included video

I saw another post from gamestop but I received mine from play store. And mine seems to be an extreamly bad case: see the picture. Barely useable since its so white. Anyone seen this problem / have any ideas? Also, has anyone had to get a replacement from the play store and have any information about it? Do you get a brand new one?

That is probably just from the camera moving while taking the picture. I've seen at least one other user with a screen that bad. So it may be real.
Mine was looked white and faded at first, however nothing remotely that bad. After about 3 days it seemed to get better. Though it seems most times when I play a video it gets white and faded again, but goes away a few seconds after leaving the video app.
But something that bad, I'm not sure if that'll look normal after a few days or not.

I really dont know why the screen doesnt line up, maybe i was holding it at an angle or something, but its legit just watch the vid
I wonder what would happen if you play a video, like the Transformers movie. My screen gets worse after playing videos, but then clears up (though never really looks completely good).

Same thing happens regardless of what im doing. After like 5 minutes of staying on it will only half as bad, but whenever i turn the screen off for more than 2 minutes it goes back to this
So same thing just started affecting me today. First let me start out that I've had 0 issues until today. Went to try one of the root kits and got my N7 rooted updated SU and restarted now its washed out just like whats shown by OP. Could be coincidence who knows. Is this a common defect that takes time to occur?
I bought mine on Monday from office depot. It was great until Thursday morning when it started this exact problem. I'm going back to office depot to exchange it tomorrow. My mom bought one from the Google play store and she hasn't had any of these problems.

That is defective. Exchange it.
Same problem here. It was fine since I got it and now the screen is all washed out.
search for the thread of "screen burn in + washed out", you will find more information on RMA there. I had the same issue and received my replacement in 4 days. the left side of the screen is still a bit lifted on the new one, but that is nothing compared to white out screen.

Want Warranty Replacement Droid 3

So my girl's droid 3 has been acting up and want to try and get a replacement but she spilled cooking oil on screen and has a dark spot on LCD which happened early March. That did not effect the performance at all but lately its been going nuts. My question is can I get a replacement and not be charged for the the LCD problem even though it didn't effect the performance? Just want to know if anybody here has had the same incident or something similar or even your input would be nice. Thanks In Advance
Sent from my Paranoid JellyBeen Nexus using XDA Premium App
How dark is the spot you are talking about? Are the performance issues now related to the screen response? Because it kind of sounds like now there are issues with the screen because of the oil incident.. ;]
I had to warranty my D2G awhile back. I declared a few somewhat major cosmetic problems to them as I was a jeweler at the time and had probably damaged it in some way during the course of my work. The problem with my phone had ended up being hardware related and had nothing to do with the damage and so my phone was replaced.
Here's pics of the screen and the problems happened months after the oil spill
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
But no the problem is that is gets hot and randomly reboots all day everyday the screen works perfectly except for the dark spot on screen

make the background pure black, avoid putting light apps where the dark spot is, and then i would bring it in lol
maybe turn the brightness down a bit also
Well if I turn the light down its too dark and can't see anything where the dark spot is at. But that's not the problem I want to know can i get a replacement to fix the over heating problem and the random reboots that happens frequently. I have no problem with the dark spot on screen

Well if you bring it in and tell them about the spill, they will probably tell you the overheating & rebooting is from that and im pretty sure spills are not covered by the 1 year warranty. And the spill would void the warranty im pretty sure also.
If you have insurance they will replace it though.
You could always go to the store and see if the rep will let you exchange it. You might get a nice one. It's unlikely but withholding info I think is fraud.

Looks like that dark spot is over the cpu... I'd try saying the dark spot was caused by the heating issue and maybe not mention the cooking oil...
^^^^^^^
I second that. Tell them that one day the phone got really hot in her pocket and then this screen dark spot appeared. She had been dealing with it 'til now, but she's finally sick of it since these new issues arose.
I could also try that to just don't want to send the phone in and they open it and see oil inside and they charge me for a whole new device even though it happened months ago. Does anybody know where the water censors are or the only one is in back of phone?

Just go in and they should replace it their if they have any in stock. Or they might offer you a different device.
It doesnt matter if it happened months ago, technically this would VOID your warranty. Like said above your best chance is to bring it in and say the it kept overheating in your pocket since a few months back and started noticing that dark spot.. If they did check the water sensors and they WERE TRIPPED then they wouldnt replace it, because that would void your warranty.

Disgusted with Google customer service

So I know this has been discussed many times already but i am appalled at Google's customer "service". My nexus 5 has the rattle issue pretty bad and also the sim tray protrudes. I contacted Google regarding the issue and they responded by saying this is normal and we wont replace???? Anyone else had this problem?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I think they've been told not to RMA the phones now for what is widely considered to be 'manufacturing differences'. Could be wrong, though
Just say it overheats and you're scared that it might hurt you.
Give it a bit before you do though because all chat logs are saved and they will know you're lying..

I had a fantastic customer service experience when I RMA'd my phone. My micro USB chord would not stay in the phone and came out very easily. The service agent was courteous, professional and pleasant.
I think they've had too many people using the "button rattle" to just get a newer phone. Can't say as I blame them.
So you tried to report two non issues as a reasons to get an RMA and you were denied?
Glad to see Google reps doing their job properly.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
What do you mean that the sim tray protrudes? That it doesn't close fully and sticks out more than the power button? Or it sticks out less than that?
I'm glad they aren't RMA'ing for rattles. You will be hard pressed to find a smart phone that doesn't rattle. I think after the Nexus 4 debacle with so many people returning them, they changed their stance to stop a lot of frivolous returns. So many people try to abuse the system (and even a poster in this thread encouraged lying) that it makes it hard for people who might have legitimate problems.
Good.
Put your phone in a case. Both issues solved

Why would I RMA it?
So you're disgusted with google for not giving you a new phone when there's nothing wrong with your current phone? Is that what we're supposed to understand here?

Yup. Mine does that, but only when I actually press on it. If you really don't like it, just take the back off and put some thin foam or something under the back.

It is because since s4, full black color will turn off the pixel so need more time to turn it on again.
You can use Screen Adjuster from playstore, read below thread.

I dont have G-Flex yet, but on my old Galaxy S, I was able to calibrate the screen with an app called voodoo color. I hope there is a screen adjuster app for the G-flex too or i hope ther will be

I have a LG G Flex and my screen has the blue tint. It is especially noticeable on the top part of the screen and is blotchy blue. The bluish tint goes along the top of screen towards the right of screen about a quarter way down . Other than the bluish blotchy area I described ,the rest of the screen is white.
My phone is set at 50% brightness. At 100% brightness the blueish tint isn't as dark and is barely noticeable.
I have read of others having same issue. If you Google it you will read lots of complaints about the bluish tint in different areas of screen from the top to the bottom.
I bought my phone about 7 days ago at Best Buy.
I had upgraded to Android 4.4.2 on At&t. I Had considered possibly exchanging it for another one but I think bluish tint may be normal.

Wow that's strange. I'm absolutely positive that there's a lot of screen variances between these devices. The G Flex on display in my T-Mobile store had an extremely grey look to it, even on 100% brightness. My screen isn't like that, although it's not as white as an LCD, I'm extremely happy with it.
I just took these 2 pictures with my Nexus 5, one with the flash off and another with the flash on.
agreed; I have had 3 gflex's; the first 2 were perfect white screens, no ghosting; my current one is bad, lots of blue tint, and lots of ghosting..
Yours looks way better than mine. I wonder if I should take mine back. I'm worried I might get one that's even worse than my current phone... Thanks for posting the pictures!!?
Sent from my LG-D950 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
unfortunately, thats the risk you take; if you are within your "in store" return period, you could go back to the store and check your replacement out before you take it home, but if you are past that time period, its a roll of the dice..
I'm still within the return period. I might return it on Saturday, which will be day 14 of my return period.
It's a shame, I like the phone and have it set up the way I like it.
The Bluish Screen issue is a bit of concern . I don't know what causes it . I don't know if it will worsen or lead to a future total Screen Failure.
I'm a bit disappointed in Lg though.
I believe they need to work on their quality control and testing before they ship out devices that have an obvious screen defect.
Thanks.
