S4 I537 digitizer glass replacement help - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone here replaced the glass on the active? I got a cracked but fully working phone and ordered the screen glass. I didn't bother reading about the tft glass being a little different than the amoled blued s3-s4 glass. I am pretty good at doing the S3 and the other S4 but this one is a mystery with no youtube videos showing the residue left behind or if the lcd is damaged easily, cleaning heating etc. So you guys can share any experiences you might have on the subject. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Z1 screen scratching and camera

hello xda , :fingers-crossed:
i wanna buy a new phone and iam admiring the xperia z1 , but iam a little anxious about some things , one of them is the screen as it is not Ghorilla Glass , i had a samsung galaxy s2 and it was really resistant against scratches , so i dont want to pay lots of money on a phone which could be scratched so easily.
so i just wanted to ask people here who already have the Z1 about their experience with that phone's screen and their overall rating to the phone and its camera, cause i've read many posts that the camera wasn't like what they expected
thanks in advance
Check out Glass-M. They make a tempered glass screen protector for the z1 for like 17USD, mines in the mail. I always put a screen protector as soon as possible, even a 5$ urethane protector can easily stop a scratch that would be ridiculously expensive to repair. Gorilla glass wont save you. Stock glass feels better then urethane, but i can always replace a damaged screen protector.
The camera is usually covered by a sapphire lens i believe, which is much harder then the glass screen and doesn't need to be protected. Just keep your diamonds in a different pocket and you wont scratch it.
My advice, get a screen protector for it before you take it out of the box. Mine was scratched after 2 days, compared to all the other phones I've had (HTC One, SGN, SGSIII etc) I have never had a scratch on the screen. The glass itself is tough, it's just the anti shatter film they put over the top of it which scratches easily. It's like having a cheap screen protector on but they say you void your warranty if you pull it off to replace it once it's scratched.
Go with a tempered glass one. I love the phone, just not the cheap film they put over it.
thanks for your fast response guys
Is this Tempered Glass projected to being scratched and i'll need to replace it several times ? or it is a scratch-resistant glass which will act like gorilla glass maybe ?
and is the camera worth it ? one of my main reasons of choosing that phone is its camera , but i've read many posts which say that camera sucks , and another posts which say that camera is great !! anybody here has any actual experience with this camera ?!
no one has tried z1 or has faced what iam telling or what :crying:

The camera is good, just not mind blowing. If you take picture in good light pictures will be fine. In the end its still a small sensor and will not replace my full frame camera. The Glass-m is made of gorilla glass and is pretty tough. The reason for putting one on as soon as you get it is due the anti shatter film sony insists on putting on. This ASF scratches very easily

Screen protector

Any idea if screen protectors for the original Z tablet are going to fit on the Z2?
Go with Tempered Glass Protector!

I personally bought this from ebay: H1 Ultra Thin Clear Tempered Glass Film Protector F Sony Xperia Z2 10.1" Tablet
I have put it on my z2 and it looks great and I have the extra protection.
I actually didnt think these tempered glass were really what they say they are, but this weekend, my phone, z1s fell and had a crack on the screen. I was so upset! :crying: But when I inspected it closer, I noticed the crack was on the tempered glass I have on it!!!! :victory: so it really did work and absorb the break. So that $10 glass saved me a bunch of money!!
So if you dont have one, think about getting one. Well worth the $15 you pay for.

screen protectors for Xperia Z tablet works on Xperia Z2 tablet, im using it on mine atm. it fits perfectly if youre still wondering .
anyone got any suggestions for matte ones?
I bought an ebay cheapie. It works re: anti glare and has actually really helped the fingerprint magnet factor / made the surface 'slide' better, but it has a weird polarising effect that's clearly visible as a sort of strange colour/pattern overlay, so on the fence about whether it was the right move or not...
On the first Sony Tablet S there was an official screen protector that had all the anti glare properties but didn't show a funny pattern, I'm looking for basically that effect.
I bought this tempered glass screen protector from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191544717348?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Not too expensive and it arrived very fast from Hong Kong (1 week) and in a crazy overdone packaging. It was inside a large foam box, so no chance of it breaking in shipping
It comes with a wet and dry wipe and installation is like every other glass screen protector. It was a bit tricky to get it on, since it's so large, but I managed on my 2nd try. I'm pretty happy with it, no bubbles and no weird colors. I was hoping it would bring less fingerprints, but it seems to be about the same as without. The screen touch seems to be better though somehow.
Also keep in mind that the hole on the protector isn't for the front facing camera, but for the ambient light sensor! At first I thought I had received the wrong item
I recently changed from my normal plastic screen protector for a 0.3 MM glass screen protector and love it! Looks way better than plastic ones, resists scratches much better and I can slide my finger over it much more easily. Would definitely recommend a glass protector. Buy one for your phone to try it first if you're unsure as they do cost quite a bit more, but for phones aren't much more expensive than cheap plastic ones.

[Q] Scratches on the screen?

It really is sad that the suggested threads are from the One X and the G1, Gorilla Glass 4 should not be having hairline scratches. Anyway, this post will be my first for the T-Mobile Note 4 portion of XDA, as I just upgraded from the S5. The individual who sold it to me had CM12 on it and I immediately flashed it to Kit Kat TouchWiz (Lollipop on the S5 was hawt). Anyway, it came with hairline scratches on the top half of the screen. Though they're not palpable, I tend to stay fixed on the center of my phone because if I analyze the beautiful QHD display closely, my experience is ruined due to the rainbow hairline scratches being exposed when light backgrounds are being shown on my phone. Which leads me to the rather obvious question, what should I do?
A. Get a screen protector or tempered glass. If so, please let me know which specific brand because when I got a screen protector for my older devices, they got smudges on them and rainbow, oily, greasy fingerprints easily which didn't happen on my S5 nor my Note 4.
B. Replace the screen. I found a replacement screen cost ~$12 and I know someone who owns a T-Mobile shop that can do it for me but I'm kind of OCD (in general, whether it's DIY or professional) that the screen won't be intact as it is now. Hopefully one of you will have a strong rebuttal for that.
C. Try to get rid of them myself. I heard a dab of toothpaste on a damp cotton swab could help if you gently rub the scratches in circles, but will that damage the screen at all or make it less responsive?
D. [Any other possible ideas you can think of.]
try a screen protector first. Any of the more "liquid" screen protectors should make these scrateches almost invisible. I really enjoy this one for fixing minor crathes. As long as they are only surface scratches and not cracks it should fix the issue you are having.

Galaxy S6 Edge digitizer replacement

Hello everyone. So somehow I cracked the digitizer on my S6 edge. I see many places to purchase the whole display and digitizer as a whole. I have also seen the digitizer ALONE sold as well. Huge price difference. I have NOT seen any videos on how people have changed the digitizer or top glass, or whatever you want to call it. I have done many phones before, but not the s6 edge. Is this possible to replace just the top glass and not the display as well? And if so, could someone point me to a video that shows how?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think the S6 Edge glass can be separated, check attached pictures, http://imgur.com/SVcWQ6z http://imgur.com/6RwBcYh the lcd is far too thin to be sepatated, it's very risky to damage the lcd display when you're separating the top glass.

LG G FLEX - fixing broken screen glass (touch & display working)

Hello guys!
It's my first post on this forum so excuse me for all mistakes that I have made
Some time ago i dropped my LG G Flex from about 0,5m. The screen have "spider webs" so it makes annoying to use it. Luckily the screen and touch layer managed to survive .
I searched web for replacements but i didn't find the glass. I only managed to find a glass with whole display. The cost of whole thing was about 50$-100$. The price of that part was too expensive to make it happen (i bought phone for about 140$).
Soo i have came up with bright idea. I was gonna remove the screen glass like this girl on video (Search YouTube for "HOW TO REPLACE A SMARTPHONE SCREEN!" uploaded by "everythingdiy").
Thing was very easy because LG don't have any physical buttons on front and the whole "frame thing" was attached to bottom layers (With samsung phones the "frame thing" is attached to glass").
After removing broken glass i cleaned everything up with just a tissue.
Next step was the easiest one. I bought online a tempered glass protector and applied it on my screen.
Here you go, everything is working very well !
I have payed for replacing my screen glass about 5$ (+ work with removing old glass)
I think i have helped someone with similar problems.
REMEMBER !! To preform this your display and touch must work !!! You are doing it on your own and i don't take any responsibility if you damage your phone !!!
what tempered glass protector did you buy? please can you send a link
also, when you remove the glass, was it attach to the lcd with glue?

I bought the cheapest one Any tempered glass will do the job.
The glass was attached to the LCD with glue. Make sure to warm up the screen with hair dryer or heat gun
You can try removing that glass at any point. Just google "removing phone screen glass" or something like that.
Remember it's not that easy as it sounds, the display is very fragile.
