I plan on rooting the device and running Nova launcher. Hopefully I can get FoxFi to run after the device has been rooted.
I purchased a couple 16GB SD cards last week while they were on sale.
I also purchased this case as seen in the picture below.

[Daydream][4.0+] Lucid - DayDream Screensaver

As I couldn't find any Daydream for my finally arrived Nexus 7 Dock which fulfills all my needs, I started developing my own one. I'm quite happy with the result and present you:
Lucid - DayDream Screensaver
The main screen of the screensaver is the clock view, which you can see in the 1st attached screenshot. Besides the moving clock & date it can also show:
battery level
weather
unread GMails
missed calls
new SMS texts
next alarm
Also, you get buttons at the bottom to:
toggle night-mode (dim the screen)
start RSS view (3rd screenshot)
start Slideshow view
play/pause music (not every music app is supported)
You can change nearly every color/text size from the configuration screen. On Android 4.2, you'll find the Daydream in the Android settings app -> Display -> Daydream. For older versions, there is a launcher icon in your app drawer and the app can automatically start when the device is connected to a power source or placed in a dock.
The app comes as a trial version, in which the use of the daydream is limited to 30 minutes. You can purchase the full version from an in-app option for a fair 0.50 EUR / 0.99 USD.
Download: Play Store
The screensaver should work with every 4.0+ device, however I could only test it on my Nexus 4 & 7. So if you have any issues, let me know

Hi j4velin,
I purchased your app.
Just 2 things :
When i purchase, the only thing that changed is "Purchase App" disappeared.
Is this correct / ok ?
Secondly, if i want to change date format, can i make it into
dd.MMM, YYYY or something like that ?
thanks

it also removed the 30 min limit on the daydream, but that's currently all. and i'll maybe implement some premium-only features in the future

Hi, thanks for the build.
- first good news. After installing new apk, When going to the modules - night mode, everything is working fine.
- now the bad news - when i selected checkbox (checkbox was hidden behind text darken to 0%" ), screen went off. Now i'm not able to disable checkbox ;-(. When i'm going again to the night mode plugin - screen is going off.
- how to delete application settings without loosing license data?

okay, i'll change that again in the next version. you should be able to delete the apps data in the Android settings, it should restore your license automatically
edit: attached another version which gives you a 3 seconds countdown before actually turning the brightness to 0%

perfect. 3 seconds is quite short time.. but i can handle it.
Thanks very much for support.

P.S. automatic dimming based on the light in Lux is nice feature. i like that.
P.S.S. When changing value of a Lux and i'll put 5.0 and after that delete, delete, delete (to have empty value). Application stops responding.
I just started using this last night. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to update notifications when they come in while the daydream is opened. It only shows the one's it knows about when launched. Is it just me? If not, is there any way to change this?
i recently purchased your app and I love it but is there any way you would be able to have lucid daydream set as default action when it is docked, currently when i dock my phone i get a "Complete action using" pop-up before you app starts. It would be great if you added this to your app, I've added a picture to show what pops up.

what Android version do you use? does Lucid actually start when you dock your device? have you rebooted once?
Great app but the cpu usage is always used to its maximum. Also I'm missing one function . I don't want my phone to be turned on while night so it would be great if You would add some options to disable Your app between set time.

when not using the "night-mode", the app should set the display brightness to 10% if it's not already darker. when using the night mode you can set it to 0% on supported devices
Thank you for this!
Seems nice, willing to take a try.
Please disable lockscreen as in the android clock day dream. One of my primary uses is as a screen saver where I don't have to unlock I can just swipe the screen. Why would you need screen lock if it's on a charger/docked.
Thanks. Best daydream app so far. Worth the money

Where is AM/PM?
So where exactly is the option for AM/PM? This is usually "t" or "tt" but I noticed that your App seems to have left this out, although not all of us are in the military NOR do we venture outside our "box" so we need to know if it is DAY or NIGHT without looking outside.
Can you please add this?
Thanks.

Nightstand Bold (Possibly not in the play store anymore)
I use an app called Nightstand Bold. I can't seem to find it on playstore anymore - maybe the publisher removed it.
But it is probably the most beautiful nightstand clock app.
I did find this link

you can download an apk from here - but I'm not really sure about the website, as in is it safe or not....

Daydream, under Display options. If apps are designed with that purpose, you will there those that can get automatically activated when you put your phone on the charger or stand.
If you search for Daydream on Google play, you should be able to find apps that fulfill this.
As a simple example - Google's clock does it just fine. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock&hl=en.
i really prefer to find an app which allow me to choose which app will pop up when the phone is docked.... any suggestions ??

After you install, go under display settings to the screensaver and select ClockPlus. You can change settings like brightness if you tap the gear icon. And if you select MORE in the upper right part of the main screensaver screen, you can select when to launch the screensaver.

[Q] Replace the Amazon Lockscreen

I tried to do this a week ago (non-root) and could not find a standalone lock-screen app that would actually replace the Amazon one. Some wouldn't run at all, and the rest would appear only after the Amazon one, which of course defeats the purpose.
I did find one thing that works though. I use Smart Launcher 3 as my launcher, and Smart Launcher 3 has a built-in lock-screen option. I enabled that and it has worked perfectly ever since. I never see the Amazon lock screen anymore and the SL3 lock screen is very nice.

Yeah I have tried the same thing, the one thing I usually run across is the fact that amazon has a modified settings app and lock screens can't be enabled. I really just want to disable the amazon one completely if I can and replace it. I have root and Xposed installed.
Can root be used here to replace the amazon settings so we can use a custom lock screen?
I really want to use google now when the device is locked and be able to switch songs from google play without having to unlock the device?
EDIT: Oops! Miss-read this!
Root device.
Install TWO launchers for safety (I used APEX and Google Now).
Save a copy of the fire launcher and then delete the fire launcher using root.
This will leave your tablet in a buggy state. REBOOT.
Then pressing home will let you chose your default launcher. I used Google Now.
Check the end of this video for a play-by-play:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux-2b3X3BlI
I attempted to search for something obvious through pm list, no specific apk file, probably integrated into system UI, I suppose a more experienced member will have to look, as I am in no way an expert.

With nova launcher you can add an 'activities shortcut' to settings.
On my phone this lets me get to settings options that are not usually visible in the settings menu.
Has anyone tried this with the fire? ( I don't have a fire 7 yet)

5 Top Apps For Nexus 6p for 2015

Now here is a list 5 essential app that made my nexus 6p experience that more greater and hope it will do the same to you. Most of these app do required you to be rooted for the most benefits and can be found here on XDA or on the google play store. Also i want to know your top 5 apps.
1. Viper4android - Great for audiophile, you can turn a of pair of 50$ headphones sound like they cost 500$. Have your music sounding like you are in the studio.
2. Xposed GEL Setting- This app will let you keep your google launcher but add all the customization feature from Nova launcher and a few other.
3. Adaway- Must have if you like fast website load time but hate ads that take up the hold screen. Also save data.
4. Greenify- If you thought that Nexus 6p have a great battery life now. This will change your life with there new feature in the setting called aggressive doze and other enhancement. i'm get 2.5 day on one charger with moderate use. (you may be able to get even better battery life if you tweak your kernel/Rom setting.)
5. Navigation swipe With the great screen that the Nexus 6p have, i hated that the navigation bar took up so much of it. With this app say bye bye to the bar and hello to gestures. basically you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to the coordinating button you setup in the setting.
I hope you loved my top 5 apps for 2015. :victory:

Are you keeping thread open for everyone's favorite 5?

Yes.
Good list, I had not heard of a couple of your selections. I'm always glad to hear about what's out on the interwebs.
My preference for robust gesture controls is GMD Gesture control, it allows you to pretty much program any gesture actions. I've used it for 4 years, you can't go wrong honestly. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol I use a 2 finger angle swipe to kill apps, 1 finger up flick in the top right corner tio turn the phone off. 3 finger V swipe to enable Waze. Double home tap for Google now. 2 finger pinch for recent. 3 finger swipe for app switching, 2 finger swipe tio go back with an app. And a lot more.
Another solid alternative to adaway has been the xposed module MinMinGaurd, you can find it via xposed, or here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/tw.fatminmin.xposed.minminguard but on a side notr, I enable ads in some apps that I really like, to support those that dont have paid versions.

Navigation Swipe is great! Thanks!
It was exactly what I was looking for.
I'm used to the nav bar taking screen space, but I'm worried about burn-in, and this app gives the fastest way of using these keys without showing them (faster than pie, and much faster than swiping up do show the keys and then press them)

i was able to hide it use a custom rom and just disable the navigation bar in the setting. The developer did had a early version that allow you to disable it in the app.
Several of the custom ROMs have the feature of pressing on an edge of the screen, i.e. right or left, which then brings up an overlay screen where you draw a shortcut letter - i.e. S for Settings and then it would launch the Settings screen. In Temasek's ROM, it's called Gesture Anywhere - I am unable to find the apk. The current ROM I am on does not have this option. Has anyone seen this either as an App on the Play Store or as a module for xposed?
Thanks, in advance.

Note 4 Freezing and Restarting + wakelock dependency solved

Hi,
Before i start I just want to let you know that this thread is not in any way advertisement for any app. All the apps used are not created by me.
Are you tired of wake lock hell Follow my steps in order to remove it.
Method one
install Nova Launcher and set animations to fast.
1) Make sure your phone is used on Wake lock activated until i tell you to delete it.
2) Download an app called swap speed swap up speed (root). (it has blue icon). After downloading this app grant it root access and choose from the slide bar (very fast).
3) Download an app called Root Master Pro. The app has a black Icon with a green R letter inside it. After you open it you will notice some basic modes and extreme modes on the left. Chose basic Stability. The app will modify your kernal to run this mode.
* Note if Stability basic didnt work chose the stability extreme.
4) Delete all the unnecessary apps you got on your phone. The ones you dont use.
5) Download Greenify and add all the apps you dont mind shutting down regularly to hibernation list. Enable auto hibernation from greenify settings.
6) Remove finger print lock (that is a must)
7) Change samsung keyboard and use a third party keyboard such as google keyboard or Kika keyboard (optional). seems to improve performance.
8) Delete the wake lock app. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Method 2 (if first one didn't work)
1) buy a charging case
2) plug your phone to it
Method 3
1) Flash ReacRom on you're note 4
That is it ladies and gentlemen the wake lock hell is over. I can finally use my phone without battery drainage hell.
ONE PROBLEM IS SNAPCHAT PERFORMANCE IS STILL ****TY
Peace
Seems amazing
Tnx, I'm give a try, but really need to remove fingerprint lock? Is the one of best things in note 4 :crying:
Hi,
An easy way to do it without removing fingerprint or deleting/downloading anything is to get a charging case. The charging case keeps the phone active the whole time. They cost 12$ on ebay and they pretty easy to use.
One thing I forgot in my post is u need nova launcher running
