Dock DK39 - Xperia Z2 Tablet Accessories

Just picked up a DK39 at the Sony centre in Newcastle. Hoping it will work for a Z1 phone as well, but seeing as they sell the DK31 for that, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work.
Will advise later if it works with the Sony Style case for the Z2 Tablet
And...
Yes. That's what the moon shaped cutout in the back plate of the cover is for
Does it work with the Z1 phone, yes. But not with the bumper case on, the slot is too wide with the adapter out, and too narrow with it in. Works with the adapter on a naked phone though.

Hmm so this should work fine with my Z2 phone
Sent From My Sony Xperia Z2

This dock does not work with the z2 phone, it's too narrow and don't connect. Might work if you have a thick case on it something, but bare phone does not work

Yeah just tried it, doesn't work at all with a case on, if I remove it I also have to remove the adapter on the dock, so the phone doesn't sit correctly.
Someone on Amazon said the Z2 Dock works fine with the Z2 Tablet if you use one of the included adapters, I might give that ago.

Does anyone know where I can purchase extra adapters? I didn't get any in my box but wish to convert my wife's Z1 dock.

Anyone know where to get this charger in Canada? sonystyle.ca isn't even around anymore and all Sony stores have closed in Canada.
Their customer support tells me that I cannot buy this accessory or any Sony products directly from them in North America. I can't find any resellers selling this old accessory and I have no interest in an ebay knockoff.
Seriously what the hell is going on here?

Well, it is quite old now and has been replaced by the Z4. I found some Canadian sites though:

Both of these sites are not based in Canada. One is based in the US and the other in the UK. Thanks for searching though.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use this dock while the tablet is in the official flip cover (SCR12)?
Thx

Desktop charger/cradle

Anyone using this cradle: http://www.boxwave.com/news/news_1326.htm
I haven't seen many other options options - only 1 other in fact. The another one I have seen makes you have to physically plug the cable in the side which kind of defeats the purpose.
The new(ish) Boxwave one seems to have to slide on.
I'm in Australia and would have to have it shipped across. Wondering is anyone is using and can give me feedback on what it's like.
For example, I'd like to know how easy it connects/disconnects from the cradle.
Thanks.
Thanks for your post! I am camping in the Swiss Alps this summer and found the perfect accessory for me!

Thanks kerrance.... Hadn't seen that one before and looks great. Unfortunately doesn't look like they ship overseas (I'm in Australia).
Box wave looks good, especially the one with the extra battery charger Mite consider this as well, but my problem is I already ordred the crystal case from pdair.com and it would be hassle to remove it from the case everytime I sit it on the cradle :-(

Are you antwhere near melbourne? dont know if this one needs to have the cable plugged in you cant really see.
http://www.ow.com.au/shop/PDA-Cables-Cradles/HTC-Touch-DUAL-USB-Desktop-Cradle

Yeah, I live in Melbourne and I have physically seen that one. It has a very short USB cable that needs to be manually connected to the side of the phone. I fail to understand the point of this device (but, maybe it's just me)... I might as well just connect a standard USB cable.

These sell for like $0.01 on ebay (seriously)
Haven't tried them personally but I've been told that they supposedly work pretty well. I personally wouldn't stick my phone above my stove though.

Never tried these, but I use something called PuGoo http://www.udsproducts.com I love it & it works well!
If we are thinking of sticking the Note II to the wall, wouldnt VESA mounts be a better solution

Please share your findings, because the cheapest one i could find was:
http://www.ebay.es/itm/Car-Anti-Sli...Accessories&hash=item20c0f4e9b1#ht_1292wt_906
Here it's less expensive than yours but much more than 0.01$ http://cgi.ebay.fr/Car-Anti-Slip-Pad-Mat-Camera-GPS-MP3-Phone-For-HTC-Nokia-Samsung-LG-iPhone-4-4S-/110931201286?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d403cd06

I bought one from this seller (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Car-Gri...047?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c1c8637f) for $0.09 but they only ship to the US
The buy it now listings on ebay go for more than a dollar but the auction ones sell for very low ie. $0.09
I've been using this for more then a year in my car. Every month or so, i'll take it out and wash it with soup as it does attract dust and dirt. Works like it should. Got it for around US$1 only.

okay, got mine from ebay in the mail today... for $0.09... not bad

Custom nexus 7 car dock

Hi everyone. I've been readind this forum for a while, and what I found was very use full and helped me a lot..
So ive decided to share some of my work too.
I was lookind for some time for a nice clean looking holder for my nexus 7 without luck, so I decided to build one.
Tricky bit was to install dock with hu together, as in my van I have no other place to install hu anywhere else so its easy accessible, I had to install above, i was worried that screen sticking out will look weird, but it actually look OK.
I have attached some pictures, any feedback is welcomed, and if someone needs some information I'm happy to help.
The most difficult was to ALIGN those charging pins, I have spend really to much time doing that.
Tablet is attacked using magnets. But n7 does not have any metallic parts on the back cover, so I had to put some metal behind back cover, I have used some Stanley knife steel blades

the only thing is delivery charge, unless you find something else to buy from them..
need a trade account or I have to spend over 20 quid to use a debit/credit card.....

Sorry, I didn't realised that, I bought a tester from them worth £40.
First one may do if spacing between pins is OK.
Second one I have used, that thin bit can be cut off and solder wire to thicker.
Sweet, cheers mate

Xperia Z car charger using dock pins

hi ive tried looking online and cant find anything, I am after a car charger that can charge the phone like the dock does with the 2 pins. if there isn't one could I get some one to manufacture it. it would be quite simple I think. you could have a spring loaded clip than grips the sides of the phone and the pins are set into the bottom part that holds the phone, the pins could be linked to a female micro usb port then you just plug your own charger into it. I hope this makes sence if not ask me and Ill try to explain more
How about this Brodit holder?

40 euro? for a car holder? u must be crazy!
make one
hi,
you can make a dock for less than £10 that uses the charging pins

I bought the Brodit holder from a store which apparently ****ed up, cause they trippled the price after I got mine. It's really good though. Definitely worth what I paid, but you would have to decide based on what you'll pay of course.

I agree! I have this holder too, installed TomTom and it's absolutely great! No need for a separate TomTom device anymore plus lifetime map updates!

I got the Brodit holder and arm from proclipusa.com (I think it's Brodit's official USA store)
With the arm I got a 'travel' suction cup version from that site so it's usable between vehicles.
Works great but stupidly expensive. Nice thing is the arm is usable with other Brodit holders should the need arise.

Wsken Mini2 Magnetic LED USB Sync and Fast Charger Cable.

Just recived the little gem in the mail yesterday took about a week for shipping from China to arrive. And so far I'm using with my otterbox symmetry case and it doesn't protrude the case and no more fumbling to get the charger in correctly. And it works great with fast charging and File transferring from pc
Will post more pictures later if anyone want to see any.

I'll order a few just for the heck of it and pass them out to some friends. I'll let you know of their feedback.
Thanks.
I bought something similar from Wish.com a year ago, it worked great but it eventually killed the charging circuit on my Galaxy Tab 3. I'm a little nervous about using electronics from discount websites from China.

I ordered mine from Amazon.
They might be originating in China though... but these days a lot of things are unfortunately.
I used one for a short time, didn't last long. The magnetic part didn't hold the best, although it held better than I thought it would to be honest but it still wasn't enough. The LED on it was extremely bright and bothered me at night. Also they're a pain to remove if you go to plug into a computer with a different cable or want to use the Gear VR.
In my opinion I'd be more interested in a case that converted our connectors to USB-C so you still get the ability to reverse the connections while at the same time is a good hold if it's slightly tugged.
