Relock bootloader and stock recovery? - Motorola Atrix HD

How can i relock the bootloader (i am running stock rom now) and get the stock recovery back.
Im thinking about selling the atrix and i wouldnt like the buyer to see the 'unlocked' bootloader thing

Once unlocked, you cannot relock the bootloader.

I thought flashing back to stock ICS then taking the OTA would lock it?

Not sure if will lock it. But is a good idea as it will be the only solution

Unlocking the bootloader will blow the efuses in the phone. Once these efuses have been blown, it cannot be reversed.

Well i did it for the sakes of it just to learn before i read it. You can relock the bootloader yes. But the permanent battery will record it as relocked.
You can read about this new feature from motorola for rooting but same method for bootloader. http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ndwich-builds-for-its-phones-purpose-unknown/
To relock it do it from fastboot and type "fastboot oem lock" should re-lock the bootloader.

Any reason to unlock the bootloader?

It used to be that you had to unlock in order to root etc.
But now with one click root applications like SuperOneClick etc, is there any reason to unlock the bootloader? Is it required for any custom ROM procedures?

Not really (although it does make things easier to flash - using fastboot is very convenient.)
But then again, is there any reason to not unlock it? It has been shown numerous times that HTC will honor the warranty despite an unlocked bootloader, while it has never been shown that HTC has refused warranty service because of an unlocked bootloader.

Ah, so the only thing unlocking does is provide access to using "fastboot"?
I know; I warranty swapped mine that was bootloader unlocked I'm just asking for general information.

Yes, unlocking your bootloader = the ability to flash images to your Nexus One using fastboot. That's it.
What if I am not planning on using a new rom? I want to stay on stock, but say, just want to overclock. I don't want to lose any data.
Would that make sense to just root?

I think you can just root then via SuperOneClick.
I have another question about unlocked bootloader. How can I tell if my bootloader its unlocked? I know usually I have to flash slp to unlock it or set S-off and if I'm not sure it should still be locked, but when I flashed modaco rom it said something about unlocking bootloader. I didn't want to but couldn't abort! So when I boot into bootloader it doesn't say unlocked but any way to tell beside that?

You'd see a padlock icon at the bottom of the 'X' screen as you boot up if you are unlocked.
Thanks, so I'm locked.

Can you receive ota after relocking the bootloader?

So, if you unlock and fastboot oem lock, can you get otas? Of course, you flash the original boot.IMG beforehand...

The bootloader (I believe) has nothing to do with whether you get OTA updates or not. In other words, yes, I think, you can still receive OTA updates.

to be safe, use
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
I have no issue receiving OTA after bootloader unlock, you might lose OTA after flash insecure boot image, and flash factory image back if you wanna OTA

I believe they said that there is no guarantee that you would receive OTA's when you unlock your bootloader, even if you flash a stock img. That's just from what I remember. My friend accidentally unlocked glass instead of his nexus q (since they were both connected to his comp). We'll see in the next XE Version!

help noob here

I have an (branded At&T) GSM unlocked HTC One with bootloader unlocked. I didnt use lost the function of calc or sound recorder when unlocking that i have read. My question is will i still be able to receive OTA updates? and is there a very simple way to go back to stock or get the google play edition?
No OTA when bootloader is unlocked. To relock you need to be completely stock. To relock use all in one toolkit.. it's noobproof! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942

I am completely stock except for the unlocked bootloader and it being GSM unlocked. So if i just relock the bootloader I will get the OTA updates? or do i need to flash a stock RUU?
I dont want to flash the device if i dont have to. I am afraid of bricking the device or messing something up. I rather have the updates be pushed to my phone via OTA either through HTC or ATT.

Question about locked bootloader

My phone is s-off with unlocked bootloader. I was going to trade so I was in the process of restoring to stock, when my potential trader changed his mind. I relocked the bootloader. But am still s-off with custom recovery. Can I still flash roms with a locked bootloader, or do I have to unlock it again?

you can still flash roms, if you have your original code_bin you can reuse it, but it will wipe the phone when you unlock again

NOOO!!!!
To many folks have encountered an issue that soft-bricked their device afterwards.
You will still receive OTA with an unlocked bootloader.

you can relock it (safer) but if you want to flash any new rom later you will loose all your data. cause everytime you flash you need to unlock the bootloader. its up to you

Hang on now, lets be clear about the advice that we're giving here.
Yes, a locked bootloader is safer if a thief were to get his hands on your device. However, locking the bootloader has a whole host of other problems linked to it. For example, if you end up in a boot loop with a locked bootloader because something breaks in the rom or kernel, if you have stock recovery, you can never unlock the bootloader again, without sending it for repair.
I would suggest people using experimental ROMs should keep their bootloader unlcoked to avoid this

If I did lock the boot loader, can it not be unlocked again using NRT ? I'm wondering since this (Android M) is an official release from Google, there should be a way to unlock the Boot loader if someone wants to roll back to lollipop ... Am I wrong in this assumption ?

It's a security feature whereby if you do not have "enable OEM unlocking" set in the rom, you cannot unlock the bootloader. If you don't have it set, have stock recovery then have a rom that will not boot, you cannot set that, ergo cannot unlock the bootloader. If you're going to mess with exxperiemental previews, I would suggest not re-locking the bootloader.

I just checked and the 'OEM unlocking' option is turned on under Dev Options.
So, can I unlock the bootloader and flash back to 5.1.1 ?
