Paying retail price - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I tried to get the 649 retail at best buy but got denied because the Corporate store doesn't allow you to buy full price on Launch Days?
I had to pay the 750 best buy price. Can anyone else confirm this?

There is nothing wrong with that. I did. There aren't really many options, are there? If I bought the international variant then I'd get no LTE.

I did mine on the next plan... all it is is a monthly payment plan to pay the full retail price of the phone, $650... so it's $32.50/month for the plan that lets you upgrade every year ($32.50/month x 18 months = $650). when you want to upgrade in a year (or 18 months and the phone would be paid in full), you either trade the phone in for the next one or just pay off the remaining balance ($260) and then sell the old one online and get the new phone on the NEXT plan

I don't know much as the next program. I don't like it from what I've read

What is your bill if you don't mind me asking. Mine is $79 plus the 32 would be like $113-114. I think I might wait till it gets a little older and the next price would be a little cheaper than I'll get one.

well, I haven't received a bill yet that has the NEXT upgrade on it... so, my bill is $125 now, will be ~$158.00 with my SGS 5 on it.
$100 -> 10GB data bucket (shared between my wife and I)
$15 -> wife's line cost (for service)
$15 -> my line cost (for service)
$32.50 -> SGS 5
23% off national account discount
taxes
=$158 ish with the NEXT plan added
if you have a 10GB or higher mobile share plan, your lines are just $15/each if you are 1) financing a phone through NEXT; OR 2)pay for the phone upfront

If you're on the newer Mobile Share plans (especially 10GB+) it will save you money over a new two year contract. You do see a little bit of a higher monthly bill, but you save quite a bit over time. Make sure to get AT&T Insurance or Squaretrade, though. And the 20 month Next is better than the 26 month Next.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

If your going to spend $600+ you better invest that into a international version that supports AT&T LTE bands. You won't benefit anything from the AT&T version far as root, roms, etc since our bootloader is "locked"
Also AT&T Next is great if your into staying up to date with the latest devices like most of us here. Like the users said above but with more detail you can choose to lease/finance the device for either 12 months or 18 months. You pay $0 deposit down and depending on the terms of the lease/finance you can either pay $22 or $32 a month.
Your plan and everything decides on how much data you need. i have the 20GB plan with 6 lines. my bill is around $200-$250 a month. 3 of those lines are on the Next program

That's new to me. Wasn't sure the international version could support ATT

meh.. same difference for me.. I'll likely pay it in full in a few months anyways when the iPhone 6 comes out and get that too... in the end, I pay full price for the phone regardless.

The "Next" plan is a ripoff unless you're the type who is scared to sell a phone on Craigslist. An absolute ripoff.

exactly what i have, i coupled my $25 phone payment plan (18 month instead of your 12 month) with the new 2GB data value plan

What if you get it on contract. Its $199 down payment and $320 as ETF.
Total $520.
Is there any catch? You can cancel the contract after 1 month, pay the ETF and keep the phone??

Yup, that's the same thing I did. My contract would have ended this September, but my previous phone (iPhone 5) was one drop away from being completely broken. Because of that, I said screw it, bit the bullet and did the early upgrade to the 18 month Next plan with the 2GB mobile share plan. I would have much rather the traditional 2-year contract plan, but oh well...no way my phone would have survived another 6 or so months.

Yeah, the phone is yours if you choose to go down that path. Personally, I try my best to avoid the ETF, simply out of principle.

If i was gonna pay full retail I'd have gotten the Tmo S5 which apparently has an Unlocked BL, it is compatible with ATT LTE. Which is why I asked why the OP paid so much for the ATT version which is locked down as tight as fort knox...Still hoping a root exploit is found for ATT at the very least, if not not a big deal to me as its going to my GF who has no use for custom rom/kernels.

Its not for service but for the phone. Its part of tmobile value plan where one brings his own device OR tmo sets a financial plan for you where you pay small amount up front(199) and then 20 payments (of 20$)
So 600$ for 16gb version. But the plan is much cheaper than classic. 35 $ for 1000 mins and 10$ for 2 gb plan.
So its a win win get value plan and buy the ph from play store

I agree. For an extra $150, the ability of not having to sign a contract is well worth it. Google just turned the tech world upside down with the phenomenal pricing of the N4 and N10. Every other manufacturer will follow suit.

I went to the T-Mobile store last week to get an Isis sim card for my GS3 last week and wasn't charged. After selling my GS3 to fund the Nexus 4, I had to go back to using a BlackBerry Bold 9700 that uses a standard SIM. Went in, asked for a SIM, they activated it and said have a nice day. You can cut yours down, but I'd go into a T-Mobile store first and ask for one.
Can I go ahead and get a microsim now so I can use the nexus when I get it, and still use my standard sim on my gs2 until then? Or can I only have one sim card at a time?

Not a big deal for me, I hate AT&T and I have to have a GSM phone because I travel overseas for my business and CDMA is not and option for me. I still find T-mobile the best bang for the buck, hands down. I have never had any issues with customer service and the coverage and network speeds are fine for my everyday needs. Screw you tmobile

Tried to buy one off contract at a T-Mobile store since my g nexus is on its last limbs and they refused to sell one to me. They said they were only for new lines. Pretty ridiculous, I'm punished for being their customer. As soon as my value plan contract is up I'm switching to straight talk.

Whoever said that lied to you. They offer all phones off contract, you should have asked to speak to a supervisor. That's the reason they offer a non commitment price in the first place.
What I would do is call another T-Mobile store while you're standing in that store.
Get customer care on the line and they will make them sell you the phone... They are trying to earn commission by only allowing new customers to get the phone and that is wrong and against policy.

Standard practice is to also charge you the the difference in the phone price if you cancel within the remorse period. You would have to keep the phone until after the remorse period, pay the service charges for that period, as well as the ETF.

I haven't had difficulties getting the phone (able to buy from the Play store) but T-Mobile isn't helping me switch from Verizon.
Online sold out of prepaid micro-sim cards
Went to store, wouldn't sell the micro-sim without signing up (then I can't do the $30 plan)
Ordered regular prepaid sim
Went to store, asked to cut the sim to micro-sim size, said they didn't do it for non-customers
Asked if I could exchange the regular sim for micro-sim, said no
Cut down to micro-sim size myself, activated online at 3:30pm Friday
Got an error message during activation, and have to wait for a text message from TMobile that it's activated, it's not 12pm Saturday
I'm in the process of doing that. He wouldn't give me the corporate number but I called the store I usually go to and they're going to give that to me.

Looks mildly interesting, but as many have noted, until we see the fee breakdown, it's hard to judge. Since I'm jumping ship for prepaid after this though, it's also not super relevant for me-- it's really the same thing end-cost wise if you amortize the phone's value.

I don't like Tmo's new approach. I would if all carriers did what Tmo does. But they don't. On other carriers, regardless of where you buy your phone, at the store and on contract, or at full price and no contract, you pay the same monthly bill. So there is incentive to upgrade.
Tmo's new plan is only good if you have always bought devices for full price/unlocked. For others, though, it's too expensive.

For 1500 mins and unlimited everything else, the price is about $180, the same as TMO for unlimited everything except only 2.5 gigs of data.

any good deals on tmobile uk

im with t mobile and my contract on my htc one x is , i normally get goods deals by just phoning t mobile and asking for my pac code and get what i want.I tried it today and they just were not playing ball, wanted the htc one on 18 month contract but the deals they were offering were way over priced
any suggestions on good deals you have seen or signed up to

I was in the same boat. T mobile couldn't offer me a good deal so cancelled and took up a new contract with them via a 3rd party site. Ended up getting the One for free and on a better deal than I had before.
Yes it's looking like that for me as well

Same for me they wouldn't play ball. Ending up getting it for free on the thanet mobile full monty tariff for 26 month from affordable mobiles with a media link. Not sure if they still do any similar offers but. Upgrading is not what it used to be

hope some one can clarify this
found a deal with t mobile on mobile phones direct
my contract ran out on 6th oct, so i phoned them thinking i would be able to take out the new 24 month contract and keep the same number but was told i could not.I find this hard to see why not
is this correct?
You might have to get a PAC code, as silly as it sounds, or you have to upgrade so perhaps give Mobile Phones Direct a buzz and ask them

Hmmm...I'd personally wait and see what the Nexus 5 is like, perhaps buy it SIM-free and get a Three/Giff Gaff SIM-only deal. Probably work out cheaper
I'm probably going to get a Nexus 5 once released

any way rang them back and got it sorted
