Quick UAG HTC One M8 Review - One (M8) Accessories

Got my UAG HTC One M8 NAVIGATOR (white) case today. This is actually my 3rd UAG case, I had the AERO (blue) one on my HTC One M7, and I have a the SCOUT (black) one on my work Iphone 5.
Anyways, much like the previous 2 I really like the case, the quality feels good and it feels nice to hold. On the M8 case they put these 4 little grooved bumpers (2 on each side) that give you a slightly better grip which is a nice touch.
This is the first time I've gotten a white case, I'm interested to see how dirty it gets. I was concerned it might look a bit weird with the gun metal color, but since the only part you really see is the speaker grills it looks fine.
My only complaint so far if you notice on the picture the cutout for the main rear camera isn't centered. There is a small silver ring around the camera lens and the top right part of it seems to be covered. Maybe UAG did a bad job with the mold? Or maybe my case was poorly cut. I've sent an email to UAG but what I've seen in the past they are pretty bad at responding to emails. I will update this post if I hear anything.
Anyways for people who like UAG cases, this is another good case for a great phone.
P.S. (knock on wood) I've never tested the drop a ability of these cases, well at least on purpose, I dropped my Iphone from about 3 feet and it was fine, but have no desire to purposely test it.

Would you mind posting a pic of the front of your phone in the case? I'm curious to see how close the black of the case looks with the gunmetal.

Here you go, not the greatest photo but there isn't much to see on the front, its just a black boarder all the way around.

That's perfect. The pictures on the uag website all show white m8's, and I wanted to see the black border with the gunmetal. I can be picky when it comes to a case.

I really want this case but am scared it might be too thick. Do you mind posting a photo of the case and phone separate to see the thickness or if you don't wanna remove it maybe put it next to something we could compare to.

Thank you for the review.
You mentioned a slight misalignment around the camera. Does it affect the pictures taken with the case on? Could you please take a photo with the case off and retake it with the case on to verify?

I had a similar issue with my UAG but within a week it now looks perfectly centered. I can see the chrome ring around the whole lens. The tapered flash cutout is a big improvement over the M7 UAG case.

I have a spare one of these in white/black if anyone wants it? $26 shipped?

Honestly, your going to be hard pressed to find a case this slim with this type of protection, It did not add much thickness at all.

I don't see any noticeable difference with the case on and off taking a photo. I did get an email from UAG last night though, they said they are looking into it. I have noticed over the past day though the fit around the lens is getting slightly better though. Maybe it just needed to be worked in.

It looks pretty cheap, but I've skipped screen protectors on both my HTC One M7 and M8.

Yeah I bought a black one this morning lol. But I'm kinda mad just found a defect the speaker grill is coming off near the front camera and I just put on best skin ever yesterday. Gonna try to get it replaced Monday from T-Mobile

IR blaster works great for me. Another plus for me with this case is having the indentations and feet on the back of it. I use those to hold the phone. My otter box has a smooth back and can make the phone feel slippery at times.

Awesome thanks for the response

Bought the Maverick one (ice) from UAG's site last night. Loved the UAG I had with my M7 and really missed it the 3 months I had the LG G2.

UAG Case
I'm interested to hear how well this case fits with different thicknesses of tempered glass screen protectors

HTC One M8 Incipio DualPro SHINE Case

http://gstylemag.com/2014/04/04/htc-one-m8-incipio-dualpro-shine-case-review/
Had a chance to use the DualPro Shine case on the HTC One M8. I like the fact it still gives the M8 that gunmetal metallic look even when covered. Its not the exact same color but its not bad. It gives the M8 a better grip then the actual phone itself. It can take a bit trying to pry the cover off. I did a full review on it if you want to check the link as well.

I have this just not the shine but same thing, just plastic i guess? Actually only complaint i have is there is hardly any grip to it and i have the plastic. If this backing is smoother as it looks in pics i would think the grip would be bad as well if not worse. I'm saying when your hands are sweaty/wet there's no grip, gotta hold on tight with this case!
I remember with the M7 version of this case, there would be a noticible impact on reception. Once you removed the case the phone would function normally. Did you see any of that when using this case?

I just bought this case, and I love it and dislike it. Great quality but if you are looking for complete anti-slip form the OEM design of the phone, this is not the case. It has slipped out of my hand due to the metal twice. I was hoping this wouldn't be the case, but im giving it a week . Overall look and protection is great though.
There are no issues with flash on this, or reception, or the IR blaster.
I got the red one from Verizon looks and feels amazing

I had the same case, except in black and gray, not the shine version, but otherwise the same case. Really good protection and fit, phone feels solid in there. But the black one had about zero grip to it as well. It's sort of soft touch coating, but more plastic feeling than rubbery. Also had a slight texture to it. After a week, returned it to the store... Was also considering the shine, but seems like it's just as slippery if not more so. :/
hi everyone,
if anyone has a spare Incipio dual pro shine to get rid of, I'd be glad to exchange it with one of my UAG cases (I can give away both black or transparent versions). Good condition, no trace of use.
PM me if you're interested. Thanks!

Exact Prism clear case (similar to Supcase's Hybrid Bumper Case) review with pics

I saw earlier that this case I recently got looks very similar to the SUPCASE hybrid bumper case posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706539
Thought I'd post some pictures then and a quick review, since this case is a few bucks cheaper than the SUPCASE after shipping costs and everything, so you guys can get a deal on a preeeeeetty good case. All the cut-outs are where they need to be, the bumper TPU looks glossier than most TPU that are matte, and the HTC One's back looks slick as ever in the clear back window. Can't ask for much more in a case under ten bucks.

HTC One M8
Just got this case. So far my favorite case. I have the Hyperion, the cimo, the dot view but so far this is my favorite.
I got this case as well, in black. The top and bottom lips are loose like someone mentioned and quite a bit of dust gets under it . Overall the case looks pretty sleek and the clear back definitely shows off the nice metallic look. However, I feel that the case adds quite a bit of weight to the phone. Maybe I'm just used to the cruzerlite bugdroid cases as I've had on my older phones. Does anyone have both the exact prism and the cruzerlite cases and able to comment on their thoughts?
Ah, thanks for the review. I have the Supcase one and it also has the problem with the top and bottom lips being a little loose. I wonder if these are all the same cases with just different logos slapped on the back? I dunno... I also ordered the amCase deal, on it's way. Curious to see if that one's any better.

I don't think anyone will be better than the other.. If you ask me they are probably all made in the same plant(or few plants) just some are stamped with the individual company logo and some are not. There are also a bunch of the same type of case on ebay with no brand name. I mean a lot of these cases that these companies brand are just generic cases from China.

My cheapo amCase came in today... It's basically the same design as all the others, but the back is a matte frosted plastic which actually makes the phone more awkward to hold, it's a little slippery. Basically the same exact tpu bumper, but mine has slightly more sag at the top and bottom lips. I like the way the glossy Supcase feels... will keep the amCase as a $2 spare, lol.
Just picked one up... Definitely like how it shows off my Amber Gold while protecting my device. I don't like how hard it is to get the phone in and out of the case.

I have this same case in the same color. My only issue with this case is the volume control buttons are a little stiff. I hope that will fix itself when the case gets broken-in. I love how this case shows off the body of the M8 through the clear back.
I like the quality of the side's. Would love an all matte case. All I've found have a matte back with glossy sides.

I've seen one by Griffin, has the matte sides, but a glossy back, lol. Saw it at an unofficial Verizon store, was $24.99, which is obviously a lot for a case like this. The sales guy opened it up for me, the matte sides were actually kind of slippery, no grip to them.
Nice review, thanks. Just worried as people seem to complain about the gap on the top and bottom. Luckily they're cheap so no big loss if I didnt like it
In your opinion, this the best clear case out there?
I can't really say, as I haven't tried all the cases. However, evidence points to this case being generic and is identical to clear cases from other brands. The Exact Prism case is at a good price though, so I would wholly recommend it, despite the looser fit.
Anyone have the white/clear one? I was wondering if the white stains

OEM Translucent hard shell case?

I just noticed that Best Buy has what appears to be the HTC OEM translucent hard shell case for $14.99. Search for SKU 5641313. Anyone have experience with it? I just ordered, but looks like it'll be over a week 'til delivery.
EDIT:
Case arrived. See here:

If it's similar to the M7 one that I had it's a nice, minimal case (and it came with a free HTC screen protector as well!)
I take it this is what you're on about?
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=258366&phone=259879
Yes, I have one.
Barely notice it's there, which is great, but a few days down the line, the back of the case is already showing some scratches.
Does have a slight lip on the front to protect the screen face-down, though, which is good.
I don't think it'll last long until I cave in and get a DotView to replace it.
I was planning to buy this since I had a similar one for my One X. Then I found this Yesoo case. I got the gray one and really like it. Mine came without the branding on the back too which is nice.

Bringing this thread back on-topic.
I received my case today and threw it on real quick. I usually don't use cases, so this is for occasions (like on vacation) when I want a little protection from scratches.
This appears to be a first-party case from HTC, with the Product Name on the box listed as HTC HC C942 Hard Shell. It is translucent, as opposed to transparent, so on my Amber Gold M8 the color is definitely muted. It has HTC branding located directly over where HTC is on the back of the phone. The overall feel is good; exact match to the M8's curves with no seams that can be felt. It isn't slippery, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it soft touch.
Looks good! I have both the hoc translucent case and the yesoo case on the way! We'll see which one I like better

I ordered once cause it was cheap on eBay and I had one on my old M7. Will be interesting to see what it's like against the case that came with the M8 (which I quite like even though it's a little grippy when going into your pocket).
Nice to see some photos of it, gives me confidence in the product. Have you tried the SP that came with it?

I didn't even look at the screen protector, because I've been sold on glass screen protectors for years now. (Although I haven't purchased one for the M8 yet.)
It's hard to say for certain how the screen protector is without installing it, but laying it on the phone, it looks like it covers edge to edge vertically, but not horizontally, leaving maybe .2mm on each side.
I have a Zagg glass sp and I have a kaysone case which is same fit as yesoo case and it fits perfectly the screen bevlels in so it's not going to be an issue ,at least not with zagg
Yes, I have one copy.

Why the heck didn't the Sprint store have this when I bought my M8? They tried to sell me on some clunky $50 Otterbox or something. Ended up ordering a Diztronic TPU case for $10 from Amazon, but I hate how it hides how nice the phone looks. Nonetheless, I've have great luck with Diztronic stuff.

OK, got my one of these. First impressions, perfect fit - like to the mm. Thin but offers nice protection to the phone. Do I prefer it to the one that came with it in the box? I don't know. I prefer the fact I can get to the ports easily BUT I quite liked the fact the one in the box covered the ports so dust won't get in.
SP was easy to fit, and fits well, but it's fingerprint magnet - SO much more so than the screen naked. At least it's covered, though...
I'll give it a few days but might go back to the original case as it offers more grip

Supcase unicorn beetle pro

Just picked up the unicorn beetle pro (the otter box level one ) and just wanted to say it is a great case, I'm not much for writing reviews but can answer any questions if anyone else was looking at this case. It seems super durable, it's thick but reasonably so, the ir /power button has a clear cover so it still functions. The rubber sides are much harder than an otter box and don't pull on and off when you pull it from your pocket like some other cases.

I'll add to the positive reviews of this case. I ordered it early through Amazon so I too got it at a great price figuring I had very little to lose. I'm extremely pleased with most aspects of this case. I'm coming from an M7 with a UAG case so I have something good to compare this case to. Best things about this case are:
-built-in screen protector with tacky back. this keeps the plastic protector in constant contact with the screen so not air gaps like LifeProofs iPhone case
- completely covered plastic power button. much better IMO than UAG's slotted rubber button because it provide tactile feedback
-port covers. keeps the dust out
-very little metal is exposed. the camera lenses on back have the typical case protection but I really like the plastic around the speaker grills. looks good and looks like it'll provide adequate protection from most anything short of extreme sports
The only thing that I don't like is that the back of the case has a slight curve to it versus the flat back of the UAG case. But I figure this is why the Unicorn Beetle doesn't feel so bulky.
I was planning on only using this case for when I'm doing yard work, hiking, or playing in the park but I'm happy enough with it at this point that I'll likely leave it on most of the time. It's a great value, even at the current price. I will watch the price closely on this and probably pick up another one if the price drops.
Here we go!
I popped out the plastic screen cover and removed the residue. Case still fits great with my Nillkin Glass screen protector!
The other case is the regular Unicorn Beetle so you can see the size difference.
Sorry delete
Yeah built in screen protector is not that bad but doesn't work well with a wet apply style below it as I had one on mine , they stick together. I'm going to order a glass one and pop out the plastic eventually but the built in is good enough for now

Gestures
Got the case today, and seems like a pretty stout case. I removed my clear plastic as I have a SpartanShield screen protector on it. Customized it a little to my needs... Added mesh on the speakers. It didn't mess with the FFC much, but has a slight difference. I need this mesh as I'm a machinist, and have always had to dig out metal shavings. My main concern is since I've installed this case I havent had much luck with getting gestures to work. It seems like sometimes it doesn't work at all, and other times it seems fine. Didn't know of anyone has had this experience yet.
I haven't had any issues with the touchscreen, but I have a glass screen protector. Loving this case so far. Very well made. Way better than my Otterbox Commuter.

MYRIANN Ultra Slim Transparent Case For M8

I was looking for a good transparent case for my M8. First I ordered the Atmosphere case from Poetic and it was very HARD material and I was not comfortable using it. While looking for alternatives, i founds this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271510383352?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&var=570343293349&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I am very satisfied with this. It is only 7$. Also comes in variety of colors. I went for the conservative Black. All cutouts are quite precise. Only bad thing I found was that it did not have a cutout for the IR blaster. Since I did not use this functionality, it was fine with me. The back is crystal clear and shows off the beauty of the phone. It is a minimal case and wont protect the phone much from drops I believe (am yet to drop it, nope I never do!!). Installing this without any dust in the case is a bit painstaking, but once installed, it does not let further dust in. I have been using this for 5 days now and am impressed. If anyone wants any more details/pics please let me know.
Here are some pics:
For this price, will try out, want to see how it compares to the Kaycase.

It is smooth but has a slight sticky grip to it. I am not sure how I can convey it through words. Its definitely better that Atmosphere case from poetic and also better than using it naked (I nearly dropped it twice using it naked and with atmosphere case).
Looks like thunder and lightning. Bring a umbrella.

Did you get it yet? Liked it?
Does it scratch easily? I had the Kaycase and liked it at first but then it started to scratch easily.

From nearly 2 weeks of usage, I can say that it DOES get a few scratches. Not bead enough for me to abandon ship yet. But from the way it is going, I ,may have to get rid of this after a month or 2.

Havent received it yet .
I've had this case for a couple months. A lot of versions of this case all over eBay/Amazon. I LOVE it. Provides just the right amount of protection, while still allowing me to show off the beauty of the phone. I just took a Xacto/Utility knife and cut out the little piece covering the power button so that I could use the IR blaster. Easy. Took 20 seconds tops and looks no different. You cant even tell it was there. Its a little harder to depress the power button without the raised section on the case, but I use double tap to wake and sleep so that isnt much of an issue. I rarely have to use the power button anyway. I definitely recommend this case. Got it for about $6 shipped on eBay.
I got my Green version friday and used it over the weekend.
I really nice the feel and fit and really like the colour combination.
BUT there is a MAJOR downside to it: it has TERRIBLE flash bleed!
I got my black case and I absolutely love it! I love the rubber feel on the side and the transparent back; I feel as if its the only case I have seen that still shows the beauty of the phone off. I also got a tempered glass screen protector from the same buyer and I am very happy .
I don't understand why these case company keep interfering with the flash, if they just made the camera/flash cutout bigger then there would be no problem.

Maybe they don't test camera flash during their case design phase.

I've had and used this case for a couple of days now and I only have one thing to complain about:
The blasted volume buttons are so hard to depress!!!
I have a very similar case and my only complaint is that the clear back scratches easily and quickly, as opposed to - say - the Spiggen clear one that lasted much longer before inevitably scratching.
