Ultra power save mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Just curious on everyone's thoughts on this power save mode.
I actually love it. Who uses it? How often do you use it?

I think its a great feature, although with the great battery life I am experiencing I have yet to really need to use it. I may just not charge my battery next weekend so I am forced to use it, but it sounds awesome.

I haven't really used it since I'm always near a charger. However, I think I'll probably utilize it when I'm out camping over a weekend or on a long hike to save juice. seems promising for that.

Turn it on as soon as I clock in, and only turn it off for lunch...something about clocking out with 90-93% battery, putting it on my car charger, and getting home with 100% battery is life-changing (not that serious but I'm sure u understand)...imo best feature aside from toolbox

I definitely like the idea of it. I would use it a lot more if Gmail was one of the apps you could use.

Non removable battery

Curious guys I might get this phone looks amazing my question I know it has a non removable battery if it freezes at some point or another how do we restart the phone. I know with my nexus I have had to pull out the battery at some point or another to restart my phone. Sorry for the noob question guys this would be my first phone with a non removable battery thanks up front guys
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda app-developers app
Not a 100% on this one, so don't take my word for it.
On my Xoom tho, if I needed to do a "battery pull" (I doesn't have removable battery). Holding Volume up & power at the same time would restart it.
Worked when it froze due to bad flash or me over clocking it and it freezing etc....
Hope this helps

Yep, as the person above stated, this is like a virtual pull, it is hardwired into the system that doing that is a batterypull

That's good to know so we can flash at ease because God knows how many times I've had to pull my battery experimenting. Phone looks great might get this over s4

Help!!! My phone was hacked!

OK so the weirdest thing happened just now. I was charging my atrix HD when I went on it to check a phone number. Then it started opening apps and going on xda then other apps. I had no control over it. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to do the power and volume down thing to shut off. It was very creepy. I was just looking for a minute while the person did what they did. It was like when a person from dell controls your computer if something isn't working right. At first I thought it was being laggy but no! It kept going settings were changed and the person tried playing music on it! I turned it off before he could but the wierdest part is that I had turned of my wifi and set my phone on airplane mode so it can charge faster. No communication what so ever. Right now its off and I plan to keep it that way until someone can tell me what to do to protect myself. Also this could have been happening before i went to go check my phone. Which was like 15 minutes before I checked it. Please help

Maybe you installed an app that had a RAT or some other virus in it

That's what I'm thinking. A bad app. The likely hood of it being hacked are slim.

I'm guessing you handle it like you would handle a virus on a computer and just wipe everything and start over.

android is very hard to hack probably a virus delete data in cwm
Best thing to do is just wipe.
Easy way to do it is to go to Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset
It was probably a bad app.
Click thanks if I helped!

Another thing to be aware of is I've noticed Motorola's screens (at least on the Atrix models) are kind of finnicky. If there's a little bit of moisture around they just start registering touches on their own sometimes.
With my battery life being... less than ideal.. I find myself plugging into all kinds of chargers along my travels. Some non moto chargers make my phone go nuts, exactly like what was described - apps opening etc. Have experienced this several times. Feel the other explanations are possible of course but highly unlikely.

There was a story on the news recently that someone's iPhone was hacked by trying to charge at a public charging station. I would be weary of these charging stations.

Airport WiFi connections are VERY insecure. Basically they monitor everything that goes through. Text messages, calls, anything. Maybe they also have access to control phones?

I agree with above post non oem chargers can make the phone act funny especially the cheap dollar store chargers get an oem cable the you will know that it will work for charging and data.

Just curious, were you not at home? If you were home, why would you not just put it on the charger? I've always thought this was odd, especially when people complain about a phone not lasting 3 days. They have access to a charger, but they don't use it. I put my phone on the charger every night when i go to bed so it's always fully charged in the morning.
Again, just curious as it's your phone so i really don't care what you do. lol

Less charge cycles on the battery? Data disables? Maybe he was charging his phone and/or he just leaves the option on unless he needs the other features of a smartphone.

I noticed this the other day. Just to be safe I added the Clock app to the list of allowed apps, and it still didn't buzz.
Many years ago when I bought my first "smart" phone, I turned my old Sony Erickson phone off and put it on the shelf. The next morning it turned itself back on to ring the alarm, so I wouldn't miss my appointment. That sweet thing was way ahead of its time , and it wasn't even supposed to be "smart."
I can confirm the alarm does go off and sounds off while your phone is in UPSM. every night I go to sleep wether it's charging or not I turn on UPSM and every day my alarm wakes me up, and when I wake up before it it'll still go off. So may e it's the way u set up ur alarm that caused the problem. Hell, I can even use the facebook app while in UPSM. Good luck man.

If you want to know why, it's not good practice to leave your phone in the charger for many reasons. Some maybe superstitious to others and not to many.
I just wanted to put it in the mode to try it overnight since it only drains a single percent like in 8 hours.
Lastly, I'm not the type of person that complains about battery anyways.

What could be killing my battery so quickly?

It seems that Android System uses a really high amount of battery, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, or would know how to find out.
My battery lasts around 5 hours anymore, doing the same thing I used to do when it lasted 17+.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Why are you on JB? What setup are you using? Also, a screen shot from Wakelock detector would be appreciated.
I'm rooted stock 4.3. I just didn't really like the update from it, so I went back to 4.3.
I was fine til about a week ago.

EDIT: Wakelock detector, and more GSam perspectives would be nice.
There seems to be no out of the ordinary wakelock events, but I will supply a GSam when I can.

I noticed that on 4.3, yeah, the phone radio was the biggest consumer of battery, butconsidering your usage, perhaps screen usage should be greater. Regardless, you're getting 4SOT/23.5SBY which is far better than I'm getting (2.5/14) on KK. lol
If you think about it, if nothing is waking your device, the phone radio is the only thing using power during sleep. So I guess it makes sense.
How about this? Supposing it has to do with the end of charge mechanic of the cpu, but it's worth a check.
Perhaps the battery is just going bad, after a year?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Any other ways I could see what's causing such a drain on the battery? I fear pretty soon keeping it plugged in won't even give it charge enough to stay on.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Or maybe something about this may help figure it out? I put it in Airplane Mode while charging and it didn't seem to make a difference in the rate at which it charged.
Could that possibly narrow down the cause?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
I just picked up the phone and started using it to read my Blinkfeed, and the battery suddenly dropped by a percent or two before it began charging again.
It's acting so strange.

That google play services drain though... Try installing the Amplify module for Xposed.
I supose reflash soft, then freeze google services in tb, and unfreeze omly when they are needed. Maybe it will help

Well that's a bit extreme. You need Google Services for a lot of things, and that app is central to the android experience.
That's not to mention all the FCs he could get.
I find the phone stutters quite a bit too. Like freezes for a few seconds then carries on with what I'm doing.

tbh it's hard to tell. I would say do a TI backup and flash something fresh. If you like JB, I think viper 3.5 is good for you.
You could also try calibrating your battery. I did it, and it seems to have had, at the very least, a slight placebo effect .
