Anyone know how to put custom ringtones on the Gear 2 / Neo?? - Samsung Gear 2 Neo

I hope we're able to do this. Having the those stock ringtones is pretty lame. Any have any clue how to do this?

plug it into computer and copy and paste them into the folders that show up
might have enable usb debugging mode on the watch under settings and then gear info.

Doesn't work, I've tried, even copied the tone into every friggin folder. Really, a great piece of hardware and I only have 3 notification tones which aren't very loud at all. *sigh, Samsung, come on you can do better then that.

yah it works for adding music on there but trying it now I cant get notifications to work either I wish we could see the whole device structure and all systems folders.

Once someone gets root access, this watch will be made so much better. I like the watch but see so much more potential.

Honestly, this is one of my biggest complaints about the watch.

If you root the watch you can add custom rings. Check the stickies for a rooting guide, instructions are there.

This should be a given. We shouldn't have to root to customize our watch

completely agree, but now i have a reason to root my watch all my other android devices are rooted, now this one will be as of tonight as well

so, root is needed, you use SDB to push the files to the correct file path locations, and the files need to be .ogg files

[Q] Sound when quick opening camera

Hey guys. stupid question.
If I start the camera by pressing its button or from the lockscreen i hear a stupid loud sound when its ready.
How can i get rid of that?
Greetz
It's a legality thing if I'm not remembering wrong. For the environment to have a chance to react to creeps taking photos when they shouldn't.
I remember it from a thread on SGS3 forum I think. The shutter sound was there even if phone was muted. Only way to stop it was removing the shutter sound file and for that root was needed, or a repackaged firmware.
I think it's a good thing even if it can be annoying for some.
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
But I don't get this Sound when I just open camera from homescreen and I can deactivate the shutter Sound
Just rename the corresponding wav file then.
Located in:
Code:
/system/media/audio/camera/sound1/
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
The sound file used in this case is located in the SemcCameraUI.all file, so you can't just delete it I guess. Plus it's odexed, if that makes any difference...
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
The sound is not in the folder neither it is in any of the folders before. I couldn't find it somewhere but the sound is still really annoying...

not in my folder either...
This is really annoying - I guess rooting is the only way to get rid of this sound?
Find that hard to believe, but if someone could confirm I'd be grateful.
r
Workarounds:
Put the phone in silent, vibrate, or stick in the headset or connect a Bluetooth headset
If you have xposed framework you can download module that disables this sound

What do you use the gear mostly for?

For all you gear owners out there, after months of using it, would you still recommend it? I'm sure a lot of people are still on the fence about spending 300 dollars for a watch
What are your top 3 uses for your gear?

1. Making sure I hear all my text messages with my custom ring tone. (& and sometimes answering with a custom pre-made template)
2. making sure I hear it ring on an incoming call (with another custom ring tone.)
3, Answering as a speakerphone when a call comes in while I'm driving.
These are the thing I bought it for & it works super. All the other things like weather etc, are just icing on the cake.
Yes, I would buy it again (I bought it on the day it came out) and have recommended it to friends
Does it get annoying having to flick your wrist everytime to check your watch? Or did the recent updates improve everything?

I only got my gear 2 days ago, but I don't understand the wrist flicking thing. My watch turns on when I bring it up into a position to look at it. No flicking required. I think it is great. I can't wait for the update for the notifications. Still deciding if the custom ROM is the way to go. I haven't seen yet if the NULL ROM affects battery life.
To answer op:
1)Notifications
2)time and weather
3)media control
4) shopping checklist. Currently via evernote but I am hoping for google keep app in the future.
5) I would like a qr code / barcode scanner.
1. Picking up chicks (all though not as successful as using glass haha)
2. Notifications
3. Quick access apps
Null_ rom makes it a million times more useful

What can you do with null rom? I read the page but since I don't have a gear yet am not sure what everything does.
The whole notification for Gmail, SMS, calendar fb and Whatsapp are now displayed thanks to the update right?
Is it possible to sideload Google keep?

Yes, you can sideload anything - even with stock rom. Latest firmware+gear manager means you get notifications from all apps on phone
By using null, you get more of a stock android experience instead of a small/limited menu system from stock touchwiz launcher
Null_ offers stock plus everything in the features list. And if you don't like it, just flash back to stock - simple
Let's just say that I've been testing out a Nexus 5 and because of null, will be returning back to my s4 and the compatibility with gear
1) Time
2) Weather
3) Notifications (I almost never hear or feel my phone notifications.)
4) Phone Calls (Making calls when my hands are doing other things, driving, eating, typing, gaming, etc.)
5) Showing off
It does so much more than my old watch!
And yes, Null_ will make it much more useful, but I did EVERYTHING (root and flash ROM) last night before bed so IDK. Battery seems to be unchanged.

If you are not on a custom ROM I believe that's what it does. I can't remember. With Null_ you can read the message and it gives you the option to open on the phone. I believe it gives you the option either way. I am trying to remember because I was on US stock version (Not sure about the number) then flashed UK version (V700XXUAMK7) but was on it for like 5 minutes before flashing Null_.

Close. null_ has no effect on the notifications - they behave as they do in stock. Some apps show full notifications and no need to view on device, but option is there

Oh true. I just watched a video and yea it's the same. Since I went from US version to UK version then Null_. I wasn't on the UK version long enough to notice the notifications. That's why I thought Null_ made this possible. This isn't the case for those not on the updated UK version. Before flashing the UK version my Gear would only show who it came from and the option to view on device.

I have just had it for a few days now and it is more useful than I thought it would be.

Check the individual video player app's settings. Like MX player I think you can disable the back button (and maybe others) to prevent disrupting video playback.

You could use SSHDroid and filezilla to transfer your game saves.

Add them to the "notifications" folder within your phone. I have been doing this for years since I like to use the same ringtones and notifications no matter what phone.

I know where the notifications folder is and can browse to it with es file explorer. It's a read only folder so it won't let you copy anything in there unless you have root access.

Plug it into your PC, set the phone into MTP mode (not ptp mode) and copy the files from your PC to phone. This is what I do, it won't let me upload a screen shot from my settings otherwise I would be able to show you mine.

I'm fairly new to Android and tried adding it in the system folder which is write protected.
Another question. Is there a way to not make the ringtones I've added show up in the music app? I only want my albums to show up and not random ringtones and notifications.
No rooting needed!

Then I found this forum and am I glad that I did because now I can add my own notifications by connecting my phone to my laptop and transferring the tones to the Notifications folder! Most awesome thing ever!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I choose the notification sound that i want from a file in https://superfiles.co/download/F3M13Lta/Google-Pixel-4a-Ringtones.zip. Than i use a program called Audacity and "amplify" the notification sound that i use to -10dB and copy that one to my phone and use it, thank you very much.

Yes i agree, but in relation to the ringtone sound level it makes it more convinient. You can even adjust the level by using multiple files. But did google already "fixed" this since version Kit Kat?
Try Sound Profile by Corcanoe in Play Store.
Ready for Android 12.
Sound Profile (Volume control) - Apps on Google Play
Control phone volume for calls and notifications separately.
