You will cause quite a bit of cosmetic damage. As for fixing the USB port however, I have no idea how to go about doing this, but would be interested in hearing what others might suggest.

Exp. Hardware help needed - Broke the latch that secures the camera flex cable

I've managed to disassemble and reassemble my phone many times now. I've replaced the touch, lcd, and now the housing.
Unfortunately, my last venture costs me my camera. I really don't use it that much, however I'd like my phone fully functional.
The small black latch that clamps down the flex cable of the camera on the board snapped off and now I've lost it, so gluing it back is out of the question.
Can someone please give me a glimmer of hope that there is a remedy for this. Has anyone ever had a similar problem with any other sort of hardware?
Thanks for the help.

[Help] Camera Replacement Part?

Hello XDA-ers,
My motorola milestone's camera has stopped working for a long time now. I was wondering if there was a replacement part I can buy to fix it. I tore my milestone apart and i noticed that the ribbon is ripped.
I found some places online but I don't know how reputable they are. Anyone have any suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
lilhugo
It sound like a very strange issue to me - could you please describe more how exactly did you manage to rip that flex cable aparat inside of your phone?

Seeing how he tore his milestone apart, I wouldn't be surprised..
Actually....This was a hand-me down cell phone from my brother. He had dropped it, and it got ran over by a car. Thus this destroyed the glass. The glass was held together by a invisible shield, and the camera stopped working as that point in time. I eventually had the glass fixed by a family friend. When he was taking apart the phone to replace the glass, he checked out the camera because I told him of my issue. It turned out that the camera had a small tear in the flex cable. Even though the lens isn't cracked, i'm sure the camera piece is broken as well.
He fixes phones for a living, so I trust him. Not to mention he ordered the replacement glass for me and put everything back together for me. He just can't seem to find the replacement camera part from his suppliers. =/
So technically I didn't tear the phone apart myself, but I was there to witness it and i know it wasn't my family friend's fault.
It was pretty interesting to watch, since I was too much of a wuss to do it myself.
Thank you for the help,
lilhugo
P.S.
The phone works fine, outside of indents in the keyboard. Even the camera app sort of works, but it just shows a black screen. If I try to do anything in the camera app though then it FCs.

Headphone Jack loose contact (Milestone)

Hi,
my Headphone Jack seems to have loosed its contact. I have some basic soldering skills.
But I am asking for some advise from some experts who previously opened there Milestone and did similar fixes.
Are there any Guides on How to open the Milestone to its guts?
Or do you have some advise on what I have to pay attention?
use a small amount of flux jelly on the pins, careful with solder splashes.
hello,
i looked at this video on how to take apart the milestone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE81IaQHEHc
and it looks like the plastic cover over the camera gets destroyed during the process.
Is that right? Or can I reattach this peace after the fix?
You have to be very careful. You can reattach all parts using some glue. I had the same problem but its better to buy a bluetooth headset. The s9 hd sounds great!
Just return the phone? Its warranty is valid for 2 years. I did this because of the same problem, and received a brand new Milestone.
if you have warranty send it back, so you can get a new one. Otherwise, open your phone carefully. Everything is reatachable if opened properly
yeah, with warranty it would be not a big deal i think.
You will not believe it, but i have never use my Headphone Jack until now

[Q] Z1 Broke small part during disassembly can't find replacement

Hello,
I recently disassembled my z1 and during the disassembly broke a very small flex cable. I have no idea how it happened but nothing else appears damaged before I go and buy the new screen, metal flaps and middle frame I wanted to make sure I could get this part. In most disassembly videos I watched they never take this part off however everyone I've found so far that sells the plastic part it is attached to doesn't also sell the two small components connected to it. Ive attached an image of the part and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get it or where I can buy that piece of frame with it already attached.
Thanks Logan

Note 4 parts (mic replacrment in particular)

So, dropped my phone. Now the mic doesn't work. Most likely need to replace it. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Anyone replace the mic before? Where can I find it besides eBay since most of those parts are fugazi.
Hey, I haven't taken apart a Note 4 before but I've taken apart a few other android phones to replace parts.
The mic on the Note 4 is on the same board as the USB and the two capacitive buttons on the bottom of the phone. So this repair does involve basically taking the whole phone apart.
You have to seperate the back of the phone and then really gently remove the glass and screen in order to get to the charging port. This video explains it very clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRkI0w8AITQ
The hardest part for me is always the glue, you MUST heat the phone up in order to soften the glue enough for you to gently pry off the back and screen.
As for the part, just buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-AT-T-N910A-USB-Charger-Charging-Port-Dock-Flex-Cable-/111687783759?hash=item1a011c554f:g:EKoAAOSwNSxVcStr Buying from Ebay is fine, just always look at where the seller is based and is shipping the item from, in this case Florida. Usually the only time problems arise is with overseas sellers.
Hope I helped a bit.
Hey thanks for the help. I really didn't want to take the screen apart because of what you said. I have done screenrepair before and its very hard if not impossible to get that factory feel even from heating it up from my experience. Thank for your help
