HTC won't release latest kernel source of J One - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HTC haven't released source code of J One yet.
HTC usually release their source code usually after 3-4 months after official updates, but no kernel sources of J One that run on Android 4.2 was relased.
Major update to Android to 4.2 was released on 2013/09/10, but they haven't released its kernel source yet.
I really need kernel source of 2.21, which was released on 2013/12/19, because repaied rear camera only works on this version.
How can we make HTC release their source code?
Should we report to someone as GPL violations? But how?
I recently noticed that Droid DNA's latest kernel source has come, but still no 4.2 sources for J One.

version 1.07 is not Android 4.2.2.
They don't fix that. I don't know why.

RHD just got official KK and they are still waiting on RHD sources to be updated, so not necessarily. When the source code for both sides are released, that will be a job for the devs to cherry pick the new pieces of the code that will help the unified build. Will it make it better? Hopefully. Right now, just sit back, and be patient for our official KK update instead of jumping to step 10

By "custom" you mean based on stock roms or AOSP-derived?

What will the impact of this project be on areas that have been problems for aosp projects such as hardware drivers ?

1 kernel to rule them all means that 1 hal fixed in 1 device works on all devices
1 patch merged in kernel to fix something fixes same problem on all devices

I hope I'm not presumptuous or wrong: will it come with CWM and/or TWRP recovery versions?
Many thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken, the sony source doesn't work with pure AOSP. All AOSP or derivatives roms use the CM android_kernel_sony_msm8974pro or forks of it.
My question is thus the following: is this kernel source compatible with AOSP or like "kernel-copyleft", only with stock rom derivatives?
My custom kernel works on the latter, but I need to use the "msm8974pro" trees for pure AOSP.
Unless I'm missing something?

Can't boot
@jerpelea I've compiled AOSP Lollipop and it boots fine. I've compiled the kernel from 3.5.2.2 branch of the unified kernel source and successfully made zImage. I've combined the zImage with the resulting dtb and the ramdisk from the AOSP build. I can't get the device to boot for some reason. It's stuck at the Sony boot logo. Did I miss a step ? I've searched online but couldn't get enough help about this.
Tried the same with Kitkat too but same result. Doesn't go past the sony boot logo.
UPDATE
Got it to work The command line argument in the guide provided has android boot device as qcom whereas the one compiled during AOSP has it as "shinano" Took me 1 build to understand this Back to work again
hi All
Busy weeks ....months ...
Progress so far

As some of you have already seen we have started work on comunity 3.10 unified kernel
This kernel is not finished and not stable but is an invitation for developers to joyn, test and improve a kernel built "by community for community"

Hi @jerpelea, which of the branches should be used for the 3.10 kernel?
I ll be appreciated that the unified kernel can support d6563.

[Q] [DEVS] 5.0.2 kernel source can be used?

So I've started learning how to build a kernel given the source code, but I was wondering- since I got the Android 5.1 OTA will I be able to use the 5.0.2 kernel source for now to test on 5.1 until the source for 5.1 is on github? Or is this a bad idea that I should not even consider?
I have no idea. I think if you look up faux123 on Google+ he'll answer it for ya....?

N910U Lollipop Source Code Released

Just checked the Samsung Open Source website and the N910UXXU1BOC2 Lollipop kernel source code has been released.

Help finding 4.4.4 kernel sources?

I am unable to find the source for the xt1049 (or any 2013 X) for 4.4.4. I want to build a kernel with the USB keyboard patch built in. Could someone point me to the kernel sources?
Last I saw, Motorola kept their kernel source on Github
Sent from my Nexus 6
They have releases there for victara and their sourceforge has at least 4.2.2 kernel source for ghost. I haven't found 4.4.4 though.
