[Q] Music - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I read that the Gear 2 can store music on it. Can our Gear 1s store music despite not using Tizen yet?

Does it require rooting or will it work like a standard Android Directory?

I rooted mine as soon as I got it so I'm not sure. I recommend rooting and flashing null v23 rom mate, its a big improvement over stock.

Just side load a music player and transfer side music. Only holds 4gb

Sideload the Apollo player, as it works great, and without any rooting needed. It does not (yet) allow playing to a bluetooth headset, only the watch speaker, but we can hope they add this function, as the Gear 1 does bluetooth, so why not?

I would prefer a bluetooth headset lol, but thanks anyways.

Anyone using Hulu Plus on the Galaxy Exhibit?

Just started a Hulu Plus trial, downloaded the app on my phone but it says video playback is not supported on my phone, and they are working on supporting more phones, etc. Netflix works fine on the Galaxy Exhibit for me. Anyone using Hulu Plus? I'm wondering if it's infact a device incompatibility or the fact that I'm using the SlimBean Jellybean ROM.
It could just be because you are rooted, I can't use flixster because I am rooted

What kind of nonsense is that? Why does the rooted/custom mod allow apps to check if it is rooted or not, can't we fool the app to think it is not rooted?
What other apps do not run when you are rooted?
I got a Galaxy S3 last week, and rooted it. Hulu Plus works just fine on it. Just thought it was interesting.

Timewarner cable live tv app does not work on rooted devices unless you rename superuser.apk to something else and delete test-keys from ro.build.tags= in build prop. Then reboot. Maybe you can try it for other apps?
now if only there was a way to watch web only on mobile

Poweramp and poweramp only. Although I've been playing around with voice commands in the stock music player - not bad. But not good enough to make me switch over from poweramp.
Poweramp. Hands down

Poweramp all the way. Been using for over a year and no complaints.

I use Music Folder Player - Simple, efficient with screen space, no unneeded chrome. I've got no complaints.
Only thing I wish it could do is play off an SMB share without mounting the share, with appropriate buffer sizing for playing over a network (doing it by rooting and mounting the share has skipping issues if network conditions aren't perfect... And it requires root - which i have now, but didn't have on my last phone)

Rooted Samsung Galaxy Gear Notifications

Thinking about rooting my samsung galaxy gear, but wanted to know if I plan to root it and flash a custom rom will I still be able to receive notifications? Ive been told if you flash a rom you will not be able to receive notifications because you will no longer be able to add gear manager. Someone please give me your input

not true - got mine rooted and running null - getting notifications - on top of that, if you use atooma you can make your gear smarter. I have it setup so i get notification whenever i get an email, when there is rain forecasted in the weather (i bike to work) and many other things

You need gear manager for phone to communicate fully with watch. Otherwise it's just a fancy Bluetooth headset

No Samsung Hub?

Am I missing something? I have some movies I got from there but how do I access them if there's no hub app?
Im wondering if its missing due to the google samsung agreement. Notice how htc is getting rid of their movie service app?

Well it did install, and I started downloading my content, and then it stopped with an error regarding license acquisition failure because the device did not register itself properly.

Same here
According to Samsung on Twitter, you can access your content through the Watch On app. But so far, i cant. i can do it on my Note 3, but not on the Tab Pro 12.2
So you're able to view and access TV shows and movies that you purchased through the Samsung Video app in WatchOn on your Note 3? I have a Note 3 as well but I don't see that option.

Using Optional Music Player

So far, my Gear is stock.
I am wondering if I can control any other music player other than the stock one?

I believe you can control any music app, but you might loose some functionality of the controller.
I'm using PowerAMP on Note 3 and I can only change songs, volume play/pause but i can't see albumart of track name etc..

That's exactly the one I want to use. And I don't need to see the album art.
So I guess I would just freeze the native player then?
