[Q] TWRP Recovery Issues - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Hey guys I want to flash a new rom on my m8, the only problem when I go to do a backup of the stock rom it wont allow me to do a backup. Can someone help me with this I don't want to wipe if I don't have a backup

Reflash your recovery. If that doesn't work then flash a different recovery. I use philz touch recovery based off of CWM

[Q] Need some help here...

Hey, so I decided to root my Mini. That part worked (installed the zip from stock recovery) but then I attempted to install the CWM recovery using the update zip method and I don't know whether I should of used ODIN instead because I can't backup my current ROM.
If I tried flashing CWM recovery using ODIN , will it overwrite existing recovery and will it allow me to backup my current ROM. Can't mount system can't mount cache errors??
Just to verify also, I wipe user data before installing new custom ROM ? Been a while since i last installed one.
Thanks for your help!
Flashing CWM will overwrite current recovery, you'd have to flash stock to remove it
As for creating backups you can't backup stock roms because of how they work, the closest to stock that can be backed up (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176927)

[Q] About to flash AndroidRevolutionHD 10.1

Just bought Htc One...im about to flash this baby with ARHD 10.1
and have 1 very important question:
which kind of flashing should i use:
1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ4Q-c1a5ME&noredirect=1
which is flash rom.zip from recovery and after is done just reboot device
OR
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3nQ3ahQxF4
which says that after flashing rom in recovery dont reboot device only do some tricks with abd etc.?
please help i dont want to screw my phone!
If you're unlocked and have custom recovery just normally flash the rom from recovery.
I am using twrp, always works fine little to no aroma issues.
Only thing you might want to be doing is backup everything on sdcard and choose to clean wipe in aroma options.
Good luck

Bootloop on custom ROMs; stock ROM OK

Hi all!
I flashed my recovery to TWRP and ever since then, I always get stuck in bootloop no matter what custom ROM I try. Flashing back to stock rom via ODIN works.
It's been a while since I've tinkered with custom ROMs so I may be missing something. Any ideas on where to start?

Hi,
Which phone ? i9305 or i9300 ?
Which version of TWRP do you use ?
You should try latest version of TWRP (2.8.7.3).
Or try Philz touch Recovery 6.48.4 or 6.59.
1.Repeat ODIN step to stock rom
2.Root the phone by kingroot (as it's doesn't required pc)
3.After rooting, Download Cwm rom manager
4.Install Cwm by selecting your phone model and etc
5.flash it directly from the apps
6.now you can flash any rom ( please backup your system for your safety)

Recovery

EDIT: SOLVED!!!
Hi guys! I have a question. I have twrp that I installed with the help of advanced stock kernel. But it doesn't look like a permanent recovery. If I install a custom ROM without a recovery, I will lose my recovery. Can you help me install a permanent recovery on my phone. ?
I have tried flashing using flashtool and it only boots into twrp and not android.....
Thanks !

The reason you lose recovery when installing a new ROM is because TWRP is built in Advanced Stock Kernel, and when you flash for example SLiMM ROM it reflashes its kernel.
That means that every time you install a new ROM you will need to reflash the kernel.

Don't worry, Im going to close the thread now . The problem was that i cannot flash the kernel on roms like PA or CM without getting a bootloop, but i managed to find out how to flash a recovery to the recovery partition and then enter it using a key combo, and it works quite well, perfect for my needs!
Thanks anyway!:good:
